Though her family was primarily made of orange growers she was still born to the art of sewing. As a child she had to learn to weave together two piece of fabric. Her hands came together as the young girl sat with her tongue poking out from her mouth. Her hands came together to form the needed hand seals. As a child she had struggled with seals, forming them with clumsy fingers. Eventually she worked her way through them. As a child she never bothered actually practicing the seals, she simply formed them and began to gather her chakra.
The chakra gathered sloppily, though she did not know that at the time. She let it press into the cloths. Two squares of different colors laid before her on the table, overlapping at the edge. One square was blue and the other green. Her task was to weave them together at the ends to prove her adeptness. The threads wriggled free from their seams and tangled into a giant mess. Pearly teeth sank into her full lower lip. She forced herself to steady as tears began to rise to her eyes. This was not how it was supposed to work. How was she going to fix this?
She formed the seals once more. She had to fix this somehow. Chakra rose and she bore down with her thoughts, attempting to focus her chakra more. The energy streamed down into the cloth and the threads slowly began to untangle. It was much harder to do this than it was to tangle them. Finally they were laid out flat, free from their seams. Slowly and cautiously she began to weave the two together, working to create a seamless swatch of the two cloths. The problem would be working them together without a visible seam though she would be able to mark her progress easily.
Where the two joined the yellow and green of the cloths would meld together to make blue. Carefully the tiny threads began to interlock. She worked the ends into the weave of the fabric, making the weave tight enough that the edges would not be visible, nor would they come loose. Exhaustion began to set in but she refused to let that happen now. The skill was actually working and she was determined to see it through. She would prove to her mother that she could do this. Sewing was not her idea of a good time but it beat overseeing farms.
Finally the two cloth squares had worked their way together. She let her chakra abate and picked up the cloth squares to look over her handiwork. The yellow and green had worked their way together to create a patch of blue between them, the colors fading in and out from each other. It looked pretty to her though at the time she had no idea what the power of the skill was. Still she showed her mother what she had accomplished . Her mother was critical but not overly so. She pointed out loose areas in the weave and where the colors ran into each other poorly, but she said it was an excellent first attempt which brought a smile to Song's face.
