The sun was shining, a brilliant light that hovered above the sand village. The desert air was warm and dry, only made worse by the heat. Kai was among the flow of people making their way through the streets of Sunagakure, each one had a task that they had in mind. Kai, on the other hand, had no idea what exactly he was going to be doing today. He had not taken up a mission in awhile so he figured it would be a good idea to do so, but he still had not decided on which one he would be doing. The shinobi had his white hood up that protected his head from the heat waves of the sun. He was wearing his casual garb as he usually did on days like this. Light grey cargo pants to go with his white hoodie. His orange tank top and white socks, his socks hidden behind his white sneakers.

It was a plain outfit, nothing too out of the ordinary. Kai was never the type to attract attention to himself, it was probably for the best as he was a shinobi. Lately Kai had been thinking, however, about how he perhaps attracted too little attention. All the years living in Sunagakure and he had barely got to know anybody. The place was practically a ninja village without any ninja, minus the mindless AnBu and the KazeKage. At this rate the new shinobi from the academy will end up with more life experience than Kai had. He let out a sigh, then his attention turned to a fruit stand.

Before Kai knew it he was already over at the stand, buying an apple from the stand owner.

Whilst he was distracted by this there was some form of commotion happening to his right on the street. As Kai handed the man his Ryo and received his apple he noticed what was going on and munched down on his apple leisurely, whatever was going on was causing a huge fuss. From Kai's point of view he could not see what was going on, so he figured he would approach the situation. He walked closer to the crowd until he was at the very back, trying to squeeze in a peek from the outside. It did not matter, because regardless of how much he would politely ask the people of Sunagakure would not move despite his authority. Kai took a deep sigh, he didn't want to shove anybody out of the way. So he simply stood at the back munching away at his apple.

Finally, at least something was happening.

After finishing his training at his parents's house, Kusanagi was walking on the hot, dry desert. The sun was shining bright, it was sure a good day to take up a mission. The young Gening wore a blue full body suit, which matched with his eyes, with the blue suit, he wore a blue t-shirt like sleeves, 3|14 length legs, an open neck. He wore a gree cloth over his right shoulder, and right side of his hips. On the feet he wor blue shinobi sandals. His face was covered by a Tiger mask, a blue clay pouch was hanging on his left thigh. His left hand was bandaged, his sunagakurd forehead protector was on his forehead, just above his mask. As he walked along the streets, he came across a lot of people, he stopped for a few minutes to help an old lady carry some bags.


He wanted to buy a new flavor of clay, but he did not have enough money, he knew that there was only one way of making money. As he moved along the streets he realised that, since he became a genin, he never made any friends. He decided to take this time to, maybe get a friend. As he was walking down the streets, he saw people surrounding a particular area, he asked himself,
"what could be happening there?"
"There's only one way to find out what that fuss is all about", he walked towards the area where people were surrounding, he stood behind the crowd, wondering what was happening.

OOC: Sorry for the long wait Tiger, had my siblings over yesterday.

It sure was strange, all the people that crowded around this particular area. They were all crowded in a circular formation, from what Kai could see. Kai ran several theories through his head as he munched on his apple. The first and most likely would be a fight of some sort, a disagreement. If that was the case then Kai knew he would have to be the one to step in and sort it out. Of course in the market district area it would be of no surprise to Kai if a couple of customers got in to a fight with one another. It could also be some kind of show, or a popular stand, that was drawing all the attention.

Little did Kai notice at the time, but Kusanagi had walked up to the crowd too and was standing just a meter away from him. As Kai was too caught up in his ideas he failed to notice him.

A drop of sweat ran down Kai's face, the heat was getting to him now. And being around so many people was not helping. Sure, it was a lovely day, but Kai preferred to not be fried alive under the suns heat. 'I suppose I better go and see what it's all about', Kai figured. As Kai finished eating his apple, core and all, he lightly began wading his way through the crowd. There were a few silent complaints from them, but nobody actually spoke up against him.

Finally Kai emerged from the crowd of people, others shuffled along a little to make room for the shinobi. It was only a second after Kai emerged that his eyes met with what all the commotion was about.

It was table, placed out in the middle of the street. There were two chairs either side. On one of the chairs a big muscular man was sat down, he was much larger than the chair he sat on. It was kind of comical, in a sense, but why was this here in the first place. In the middle of Sunagakure. It did not take long for Kai to get his answer.

Another man was standing before the table looking out at the crowd around him, it looked like he was looking for somebody in particular.

"Are any of you up to the challenge? If you can beat this man in a fair arm wrestle you will be awarded with free meals! Courtesy of the best restaurant in Sunagakure!"

Of course, now it made sense, a way to advertise their restaurant. Kai looked at the whole scene with a nonchalant look on his face, it all looked incredibly ridiculous. The man double the size of his chair. The massive crowd around such a small table, and of course the boisterous advertising man. How did they even get permission to set up in a place like this? That is if they even got permission. And besides, who could possibly beat a monster of a man like that in arm wrestling. It was all a big set up, and everybody else knew so too. Kai crossed his arms and nodded in agreement with himself.

Suddenly the man that was running the whole thing pointed directly at Kaius.

"You! You look like you're a strong man, come over here and give it a go!"

Suddenly everybody turned their attention to Kai, like a deer in the headlights he freezes up on the spot. He hated being the center of attention, he had quite bad stage fright. Kai pointed to himself in confusion, to make sure he meant him.

"Uh... M-me?"

Kusanagi stood behind the crowd wondering what was going.

"why were these villagers circulating the?, he asked himself.

He wanted to know what was going on, he saw some guy squeezing between the people who surrounded the area, he heard some of them complaining. The young masked Genin wondered what would attract so many people.

"It must be a fight, only a good fight would attract this much people, let me go and check out who is fighting"

He looked around the place and saw a couple of restuarants, his stomach made an unusual sound. He was hungry, the only thing he could think about was getting himself something to eat. He wanted to buy a meal, but there was only one problem, he did not have the money. He squeezed himself between the people there.

When he got to the front he saw that it was not a fight. He saw a table with two chairs, a giant muscular man was sitting on one side.

"what? Where's the fight?", he asked a guy that was standing next to him. When the guy tried to answer, their attention was taken by a guy, some kind of the resuarant owner or something.

"Are any of you up to the challenge? If you can beat this man in a fair arm wrestle you will be awarded with free meals courtesy of the best restuarant in Sunagakure", said the owner.

When Kusanagi heard the word meal, his eye brows rose quickly, because he was very hungry. Kusanagi took a good look of the guy sitting on the chair. His mouth opened

"Damn! That is big, who could beast that beast?"


The owner then pointed a finger at one guy who was just near him.

"You! You look like you're a strong man come over here and give it a go"

Everyone turned their faces towards the guy that the owner had pointed the finger at. The looked nervous.

"This guy has zero chances of winning", Kusanagi giggled as he looked at the nervous guy that was chosen to arm wrestle with the beast on the chair. Kusanagi couldn't wait for the match to start.

Silence surrounded the table, people whispering to each other. Kai figured they were most probably doubting his ability to take on such a muscular guy. They were probably right too. With so many people examining him for any signs of physical strength they would all find none, Kai's was rather slender in appearance and his muscles only showed when he used them.

"Yes my man, I'm talking about you!" announced the man hosting the nonsense.

Kai wanted to refuse, as he had nothing to prove, but before he could the man was already pulling him by his hand. This caused Kai to stumble forward towards the table. When he had reached the table the man hosting the show grabbed Kai by the shoulders and sat him down. It was too late, Kai was already stuck in a situation that he couldn't get out of without making a fool of himself. The muscular looking man before him was even taller than he was, about seven foot if Kai had to guess. The crowd were all shaking their heads, telling themselves he had no chance. They then turned their attention to the restaurant owner.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have another challenger!" the man says whilst placing his hand on Kai's shoulder. "What is your name my friend?".

Kai was not very well inclined to be this challenger, but since he was already 'the challenger' he was left with barely any choice.

"My N-name is Kai..." he said quietly.

It wasn't like Kai was nervous, he just didn't like to be made the center of attention.

"Well ok then! In case nobody heard that our challenger's name is Kai! Let's all show our support as the contestants get ready!"

The way that the man kept announcing everything was like Kai was starring in some kind of game show. Needless to say a terrible one. Kai looked around at the audience around him, it looked like the only way out of this would be actually participating in the show. Kai wasn't enjoying a single bit of it, he had to think of how to get it over with quickly. The best plan of action, Kai figured, would be to let himself loose instantly. It wasn't like Kai cared about his reputation anyway, and it would let him leave faster. You could tell that Kai wasn't serious about any of this at all, it was written all over his face. The muscular man before him slammed his elbow down on the table, and got ready his good arm. Kai jumped slightly at the sudden movement.

"What's the matter little man?" the monster exclaimed, "I'm gonna smash your arm through the table, get ready you weak piece of trash".

Normally, Kai would just simply throw off such pathetic trash talk, but something about this guy really ticked him off. His cockiness, mainly, was what made Kai the most mad. Suddenly Kai turned from a mellow, relaxed, kind of guy to a much more aggressive man. There was no way in a million years that Kai would let himself loose to this kind of guy. The shinobi slammed his elbow against the table, a loud crack could be heard coming from underneath all the excessive force. Kai then slammed his hand in to his opponents hand, catching it in a tight grip. He had completely forgotten about the audience, it was just Kai and him now.

"I'm ready when you are, cocky bastard."

The crowd watched on as the skinny dude that was picked by the hos stumble forward toward the table. When the dude had reached the table the man hosting the show grabbed him by the shoulder and sat him down. Kusanagi couldn't stop starring at the beast's muscles.

"Damn, that guy is big, i wouldn't wanna be arm wrestling him" Kusanagi says while shaking his head.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have another challenger!" the hoster of the show say whilst placing his hand on the Prey's shoulder. The hoster then asked the prey for its name. The skinny dude did not look like he was enjoying the show. Kusanagi felt sorry for the skinny dude.

"What's the matter little man?" the beast exclaimed "i am gonna smash your arm through the table, get ready you piece of trash"


After the skinny dude heard the words that the big beast had spoken, his facial expression changed. Kusanagi saw that the skinny dude was not happy, he looke more serious. The beast looked all sweaty.

"why would they put on a show on a hot day, just look at how sweaty the muscular guy is, damn its hot"

As Kusanagi was thinking about how hot it is, his attention got attracted by the skinny dude who slammed his elbow against the table, the prey then slammed its hand into the muscular dude's hand, catching it in a tight grip. The crowd went silent, and looked on to see what is going to happen next

"i'm ready when you are cocky bastard" the skinny dude says.


Kusanagi watched on as the skinny dude said those not so cool words.

"i wouldn't say those words if i were him, i mean look at how big that guy is, oh the skinny dude is gonna get his arm broken, he should just withdraw"


The crowd stood silent and paid their full attention to the two dudes who were about to arm wrestle. Kusanagi thought that if the skinny dude lost, he would challenge the muscular dude to show him who is boss, he then remembered how weak he was when it came to physical shit. Everyone looked at the host, and waited for the host to give the wrestlers a go

Tension filled the air as the two stared each other down awaiting the match to start, the muscular man who was once so cocky before was now seething with anger, probably because of Kai's previous remark. It didn't bother Kai, in fact nothing could bother Kai anymore. Not the heat, not this man, he was in a state of complete focus. The crowd was completely silent as the two stared each other down. They didn't need to be, Kai already knew what they were thinking. Kai put on his most intimidating face as the tension level was raised. The other man did the same.

"Get ready, set..." both Kai and the man prepared themselves.

"Wrestle!"

In a sudden flash the once skinny and lean Kai's arm turned in to a much more threatening muscular arm as he applied tension to it. His opponent also applied tension to his arm but it did not grow like Kai's did. They were all of a sudden locked in a fierce struggle, one of them trying to slam the others arm on to the table.

"I'm going to make you eat those words kid!" Yelled out the muscular man, whose voice was strained by the struggle.

Kai suddenly felt a huge burst of strength come from the more muscular man that forced him to fall back a little, their elbows were practically digging in to the table by now.

"Just try it big guy!" Kai remarked back at him.

The members of the audience were actually surprised that Kai was holding his own, some of them were cheering for either side whilst others would simply stay quiet in disbelief. The restaurant owner was nervous at how surprisingly strong Kai was. It was only natural after all, he was a shinobi trained in the art of taijutsu. It wasn't enough, however, not for Kai at least. He planned to win this arm wrestle even if his arm was torn off in doing so. Kai strained his arm, which applied more force to both the table and his elbow. The monstrous man's face looked surprised as the odds were suddenly tipped in Kai's favor.

The audience let out a cheer as Kai tipped the mans arm the other way.

The struggle of how much strength it took could be seen all over Kai's body. He was sweating, his face had turned bright red and veins could be seen on his hands too. The other man was struggling just as much, however, but it looked like he had no strength left in reserve.

It was time to end this game.

Kai summoned all of the strength he had, all of it, one hundred percent of his full power. Suddenly the table cracked even more, this time the wooden table itself was giving in. It was splitting in half. Kai slowly looked up to his enemy.

"Look's like I win".

A priceless surprised face ran across the beasts face as Kai slammed his arm straight through the table, literally snapping it in half. Splinters flew everywhere but just out of reach of the audience. He continued to slam his hand down all the way until it slammed in to the dirt ground sending both a half of the table and dust flying everywhere. The crowd surprised and shielding their eyes from all the dust and sand.

An eerie silence fell on the area.

Kai stood up and looked at the man who was now laying on the ground completely awestruck by his strength. And he was not the only one, the audience could barely believe what they just witnessed. On the other hand, Kai was catching his breath from having to summon all of his strength at once like that. His muscles now ached all over, although it didn't look like it. The announcer looked to Kai, and then to his partner on the ground.

"The... the winner is k-Kai!"

The muscular dude looked very angry, he looked like he was about to blow up. The skinny dude looked relaxed. Seeing that the skinny dude was not panicking, Kusanagi knew that he had a secret, i mean anyone would panick having to face a guy as big as this beast. The crowd looked on, and waited to see what is going to happen.

"Get ready set..." the contestants prepared themselves

"Wrestle!" the host exclaimed.

The crowd cheered as the two contestants began to wrestle, Kusanagi just stood there quietly, he wanted to see what the skinny dude's secret is. He paid full attention to the wrestlers, suddenly the once skinny dude's arm turned in to a much muscular arm.

"that must be a jutsu, but What kind of jutsu is that, expansion jutsu?" Kusanagi asked himself.

The contestants looked very angry at each other. Both of them were trying to slam the arm of the other on the table.

"i'm going to make you eat those words kid" yelled out the muscular dude with smoke coming out from his nose, their elbows were digging in to the table.

"Just look at them, they look silly" that was the thought that was running through my mind. They looked so serious and no one of them looked like he wanted to lose.

"Just try it big guy!" the skinny dude remarked back at the muscular dude.

The crowd were suprised at how the skinny dude was holding his back.

"i knew that he had a secret, just look at him" as Kusanagi was saying those words his stomach grumbled again.

"Damn, i need food, just watching this two dudes makes me even more hungry, this match is so boring, i want something with some explosion"

Kusanagi was hungry and tired of standing in the hot sun. He looked at the owner, and saw how nervous the man was.

"so, he thought that no one could take on his beast huh?"

The skinny dude looked like he had the upper hand, the beast was suprised that a skinny dude like the one that was sitting infront of him was about to beat him. The crowd went wild as the skinny dude tipped the big man's arm the other way.

They were all sweating and struggling to beat each other. The skinny dude's face turned red, which showed that he was applying all his energy. The table crack as the skinny dude smashed the opponent's arm agains the table.


Everyone was suprised at how strong the skinny dude is. The skinny dude slammed the beast's hand against the table snapping it in half. The skinny dude continued to slam the opponent's hand down all the way until it slammed into the dirt ground, sending both a half of the table and dust flying everywhere. Kusanagi shielded his eyes from all the dust and sand.

Everyone stopped cheering, and watched on as the skinny stood up and looked at the man who was now laying on the ground. The muscular didn't look to happy, he looked like he gonna pop. The crowd couldn't believe what they just witnessed.

Kusanagi was glad that the match was finally. He looked for a table where he could seat, and rest for a little bit.

By now the crowd wasn't quite sure what to do, the monster had been defeated and nobody was expecting it. Some were cheering at Kai's success, others would just sigh and walk off because the show was over. Either way the crowd slowly dispersed around them revealing a wide selection of stands and restaurants on the now busy street. After taking a few deep breaths in Kai was able to regain the most part of his stamina, his hood had also fallen off his head in the whole process. Kai's sand village headband could now be seen loosely tied around his neck. He looked down to the big guy, and then to the table. He hadn't even used any kind of jutsu in the arm wrestle, yet he managed to snap it in half.

The guy certainly wasn't as strong as Kai would have thought, and if you looked at the table closely it looked like it was going to give in anyway. It was an old piece of furniture. Kai let out a deep sigh then reached a hand out to the guy who was once his opponent.

"Come on big guy, up on your feet" Kai said with a friendly smirk on his face.

Kai never really hated the guy, he just needed to put him in his place. To let him know that Kai wasn't going to take any of his cocky attitude. There were no real insults during the competition, only a huge competitive spirit and sportsmanship. The man gladly reached out for Kai's hand and grabbed it with his huge hands. Kai pulled his arm as hard as he could until he was up on his feet again. They both gave each other a firm handshake and a large grin, telling each other that they put up a good fight even without words. A silent 'good job' between them. As soon as this had happened the restaurant owner came waltzing in.

"Well, Kai, that sure was impressive! Like I said you're free to come to our restaurant whenever you want and eat there for free, I wasn't joking".

Food, it was something that Kai could use after a tough arm wrestle like that.

"We're right over there, feel free to stop by any time!" the owner said whilst pointing in the direction of their restaurant.

It wasn't a fancy place at all, but it definitely was not run down in any way. A perfectly average restaurant was what it looked like to Kai. They probably served Kai's favorite too, or at least he hoped. Whilst Kai was lost in his thoughts about food the huge guy and the owner had already left, they went back to their building. Kai was left in his thoughts for a few moments before he snapped out of it, realizing that everybody had left.

Everybody except for one that is.

Finally Kai had noticed Kusanagi, in fact he couldn't believe he didn't notice him before with that tiger mask on. He was even wearing a sand village shinobi headband right on his forehead. Whilst Kai was examining the boy he noticed, quite clearly he was looking for something. A low rumbling of his stomach could be heard, which would tell Kai what he was looking for. Kai wasn't really the kind of guy to do this, but he couldn't just leave him hungry. He approached Kusanagi with a friendly smile.

"Hey, you sound kind of hungry." he would state, his once confident smile turning sheepish. Kai had barely socialized before. "Want to maybe... go grab something to eat?"

Kai was barely treating him, it would be free after all.

Kusanagi stood there thinking, some of the people who were watching walked of to continue with their shopping, because the show was over, Kusanagi saw a wide selection of restuarants, which made him even more hungrier. He watched on as the skinny dude took a few deep breaths, he noticed that the dude's hood had fallen off his head in the wrestling process, Kusanagi could now see the sunagakure headband hanging loosely around his neck.

"So he's a shinobi, that's why he has so much strength".

By now the crowd had dispersed, leaving Kusanagi standing on the field alone, he watched as Kai reached a hand out to the guy who was once his opponent.

"What's he doing now" Kusanagi asked himself paying close attention.

"Come on big guy, up on your feet" Kai said with a friendly smirk on his face.

The muscular man gradly reached out for Kai's hand and grabbed it with his huge hands. Kai pulled his arm until he was up on his feet. They gave each other a handshake and a large grin.

"Good sportsmanship huh?" was the though running through Kusanagi's mind.

As he was thinking the owner said something.

"Well, Kai that sure was impressive! Like i said you're free to come to our restuarants whenever you want and eat there fo free, i wasn't joking.

"why do this people keep talking about food, can't they see that i am hungry?" Kusanagi said listening to his stomach as it rumbled.

The owner and the big guy left, leaving Kai in his thoughts alone. Kusanagi raised his face to look at the skinny dude. He could stop wondering which rank the skinny dude is.

"With that much strength, he must be chunin"


Kusanagi watched the guy as, he walked towards him slowly, Kusanagi's stomach rumbled making a loud noise that Kusanagi was sure that the skinny dude heard.

"Stomach please hehave"


The guy approached Kusanagi with a friendly smile.

"Hey, you sound kind of hungry" the skinny dude said, with his smile turning sheepish
"want to maybe... Go grab something to eat"


Kusanagi looked around to make sure that the dude was talking to him. He couldn't say he was cool, because his stomach was busy singing. Kusanagi did not know what to say, but he had knew he had to open his mouth.

"grab something to eat?.. I would love that" Kusanagi said with a smile on his face, but it couldn't since the mask covered everything.

"i'm Kusanagi" he said going in for a handshake.

"This guy seems nice, maybe me and him can be good buddies" thoughts running through Kusanagi's mind.

Kai watched as the boy reached out for a handshake, whilst introducing himself as Kusanagi. His name meant something along the lines of grass cutter, strange name for somebody in the village of sand. Although the mask covered his face Kai could tell that he was relieved, and happy that somebody had offered him something to eat. Kai couldn't help but chuckle a little at his loud stomach. The older shinobi reached out his hand to complete the handshake, it was firm with a little bit of slack. Kai didn't want to hurt the boys arm with a simple handshake.

"Nice to meet you, Kusanagi. My name is Kai, but you probably already know that".

He thought on what he just said for a moment. Of course he knew that, half the sand village probably knew that now. What a pain, he had made a character out of himself to everybody. 'Oh well', Kai figured, it couldn't be helped. As they finished shaking hands Kai gave him a quick tap on the shoulder, a way to tell Kusanagi to follow him. As they would walk Kai would talk.

"Like the man said, I get free meals. He seemed nice enough so I'm sure he would let you eat there too".

The restaurant really wasn't all that far from where they were, they barely walked about ten meters before they would reach it. Kai looked at the place, it was pretty much a average walk in and eat restaurant. They had a open entrance without a door, with red Japanese style banners which protected the inside from the suns rays. Other than that it looked as average as every other building on the street. A couple windows above the open entrance, that was probably where the owner slept. Assuming Kusanagi was still next to Kai, the older shinobi would look to him, then would look back as he would walk in to the restaurant.

"We're here!" Kai would politely say as he walked in to the place. A small chime of a bell would mark their entry.

The inside of the restaurant wasn't any less average than the outside. To their left there would be a bar of sorts, it looked like they would have to ask their for the food. Stools were placed around the outside of the bar counter. Behind the bar counter was a doorway in a similar style to the walk in entrance, Kai figured that was the kitchen. The floor was made of wood and the walls of brick, painted over with cream paint. There were various pictures and paintings on the walls. To their right there were several round tables with a average number of four seats around them. The owner that Kai had only just met emerged from the kitchen behind the bar counter.

"Ah, Kai! Nice to see you, didn't take you long to build up a appetite huh?"

It appeared they were the only ones in the place, which was sort of a relief for Kai. He could be more himself this way. Assuming the big guy also lived here, Kai's best guess would be that he was in the kitchen still.

"Yea, after that arm wrestle I'm starving!" Kai would say casually whilst walking towards the counter. He took a seat in front of the owner, one of the stools.

"I have a friend here who is also hungry, you think you could cook something up for him?"

The older shinobi reached out his hand to complete the handshake, it was firm with a little bit slack.

"Nice to meet you too, Kai" Kusanagi said with a smirk on his face.

As they finished shaking hands, Kai gave him a quick tap on the shoulder, a way of telling Kusanagi to follow him. Kusanagi followed the older shinobi towards the restuarant.

"like the man said, i get free meals, he seemed nice so i'm sure he would let you eat there too"

"yeah, lets just hope he lets me eat there, i'm starving"

The restuarant wasn't that far. As they walked, Kusanagi though that he would have to take off his mask when they eat.

"damn, i don't like taking my mas off, what if this skinny guy next to me is gay? what if he falls for me? Sometimes i wish i looked more manly" these thoughts ran through Kusanagi's mind, as they walked towards the restuarant.

They reached the restuarant, after walking for a few minutes.

"we're here" Kai politely said as he walked into the place.

"this is a nice place, i like the decor" Kusanagi said, as he followed Kai, walking in to the restuarant. A small chim of a bell marked their entry.

Inside the restuarant, there was a bar of sorts. There were stools placed around the outside of the bar counter. The owner emerged from the kitchen behind the counter.

"Ah Kai! Nice to see you, didn't take you long to buld up a appetite huh?"

Kusanagi looked around the restaurant and saw that it was empty. Kai took a seat on the stool behind the counter in front of the owner. Kusanagi followed him to take a seat next to him.

"i have a friend here who is also hungry, you think you could cook something up for him"


Kusanagi waved at the owner.
"Nice place you got here mate"


The owner couldn't keep his eyes off Kusanagi's mask, he looked scared. Kusanagi saw that his mask made the owner uncomfortable, he decided to take it off. He slowly took it off revealing his soft, and girly like face. He placed his mask on the counter and gave the owner a smile. Kusanagi's stomach rumbled, giving the owner a sign to hurry up with the food.

For some reason the owner seemed spooked by something, but Kai wasn't quite sure what. As Kusanagi took a seat next to him and removed his mask the owner settled down. 'Not a fan of masks I guess', Kai assumed to himself. That was when Kai finally got to see what was behind Kusanagi's mask. He looked more feminine than male, but Kai could tell by his tone of voice that he was in fact male. Kai stopped for a moment to look at his face, then turned back to the restaurant owner. Kai didn't mind what Kusanagi's face looked like, he had seen stranger things. And besides, he was a growing boy, his face would change over time anyway.

"Sure, me and Angus can fix both of you something to eat." The owner assured with a smile on his face, "Angus is the big guy by the way, and I'm Arvel". Arvel would get both of the shinobi a glass of water each, "What can I get you both?"

Angus and Arvel, they both begun with 'A'. It sounded like they might be brothers in a family business... or maybe Kai was just over thinking it.

"I would like some Mitarashi Dango if it wouldn't be too much trouble".

Dango, Kai's favorite type of food. This was a secret to nobody Kai knew, as whenever dango were brought up Kai would start daydreaming about the dish. It was truly delicious, enough to put a smile on his face even on the worst day.

As soon as Kusanagi would place an order the man would return back in to the kitchen, handing both of them a glass of water and leaving with a "I'll get right on it then". Kai would take a sip from his glass before turning his head back to Kusanagi.

"I wouldn't worry about a pretty face, there are things much stranger than that." Kai would assure him, with a smile on his face.

The place around them wasn't air conditioned, but it was shaded enough so that it was only mildly warm. To be honest in the desert that was the Land of Wind Kai would not mind taking up shelter anywhere available.

Speaking of the country, Sunagakure has been very unstable the past few years. In the time Kai has been a shinobi around three or more Kazekages have been assigned. And all the time he barely got to know only one.

"Say, Kusanagi, have you had the chance to meet the new Kazekage?" Kai would ask, whilst taking another sip from his drink.

Kusanagi was relieved to hear the owner saying that he would cook up something for the two shinobis. The owner brought glasses of water for the two shinobis. When the owner placed the glasses on the table, Kusanagi jumped on his glass, he drank the water like something was burning inside his stomach, no one could blame him, because it was a damn hot day.


Kusanagi listened, as Kai gave the owner his orders, Kusanagi took a time to think about what he was going to order. After a few seconds of thinking, he looked at the owner and placed his order.


"i would like a double cheese burger and chips please"

The owner wrote their orders down, and when he was about to enter the door to the kitchen, Kusanagi stopped him.


"oh i forgot, mr owner sir, can i please get a beer"


The owner went to the kitchen to prepare what the two men have ordered.

"i wouldn't worry about a pretty face, there are things much stranger than that" Kai assured him, with a smile on his face.


Kusanagi took a few seconds thinking of what to say to the man. 'did he just say my face is pretty?' Kusa thought to himself

"it's not a pretty face, it's a handsome face, what stranger things have you seen?" Kusa asked with a smile.


Kusanagi took a sip of his water, as he was listening to Kai.


"Say, Kusanagi, have you had the chance to meet the new Kazekage?"


"No, i have just graduated from the academy, i have never met any Kage, i would like to meet the new Kage, and maybe take up a misson" Kusanagi says taking another sip of the water from his glass.

Kai almost choked on his water when he heard what Kusanagi ordered. A double cheeseburger with chips was fine, but a beer? There was no way that he was going to get alcohol with his meal, he wasn't old enough. At least he didn't look that old anyway. As the restaurant owner would enter the kitchen he would sneakily signal Kai that he would not in fact give Kusanagi his beer, with a smirk and a flick of his wrist. It wasn't like Kai thought he was going serve beer to the child anyway.

Kai put down his glass of water with a firm thud on the counter in front of him. As he assured Kusanagi that there was nothing weird about him he got a reply from him, 'it wasn't a pretty face, a handsome face'. Something along those lines. It almost made him choke on his drink again, it wasn't like Kai meant it as a insult or anything. Kai put down his glass so he could speak up.

"Of course, a handsome face. My bad..."

A weak smile would be passed along with his speech, he completely forgot to use 'handsome' instead of 'pretty' because of his appearance. Kai had never before been put on the spot like this, especially with a kid. But then again, he never socialized much either. "What stranger things have you seen?" Kusanagi said in regard to what Kai said. Kai thought about it for a moment whilst playing with his glass, twirling it and in turn the cool water within it.

"As a user of genjutsu there are many strange things you come across whilst training, that is all I can say". The raven haired shinobi would stare out in front of him. As if he could picture it all happening again, right in front of him.

A lot of strange things happen whilst training genjutsu, this was the truth. Especially when you trained it on yourself in particular, rather than others. It was too difficult to describe as genjutsu was such a broad topic. However, other than genjutsu Kai had very little experience with the rest of the world. He had seen only a small fraction of what there was to witness, but it already felt like he had seen so much.

It reminded him of when he was a kid, traveling on the road. It sure was fun.

Kai would continue on to ask his question about the kazekage, and would listen closely as Kusanagi said that he had yet to meet him too. Kai was mildly surprised when he found out he wanted to take up a mission also, that was what Kai was planning to do anyway.

"So you haven't met him either, huh..." Kai would quietly say, wondering what their new kazekage was like. "You said you wanted to take a mission, right? We could both take up a mission after this meal. I was planning to do one anyway." He would say whilst turning his full attention back Kusanagi.

As he would finish off the sentence Arvel would walk in from the kitchen again, this time with Angus by his side. Kai would give Angus a big cheesy grin in his direction, and Angus would reply with a big grin of his own. They didn't need words, they both knew what it meant.

"Sorry little guy, I couldn't get you that beer. Maybe try again when you're a few years older" Arvel would state with a hearty laugh. He would set down the plates in front of the two shinobi.

The meal looked delicious!

Kai's eyes would brightly light up as he saw the beautifully made dango before him. He couldn't wait any longer, he had to dig in right away. "Thank's for the food!" Kai would exclaim whilst clapping both his hands together.

As quickly as he clapped his hands he would grab a stick of dango and take the first bite.

After telling the owner to get him a beer, Kai chocked on his water, Kusanagi looked to the opposite side of where Kai was sitting, he did not want to face Kai after he asked for a beer. After a couple of seconds, he pulled back his face to face Kai.


Kusanagi was too hungry, all he could think about was the double cheese burger that the owner was preparing for him.


"of course, a handsome face. My bad..." Kai said with a weak smile.


"i'm never gonna take my mask off" Kusanagi thought to himself. He did not like to be called pretty, it reminded him of when he was young. People thought he was a girl, and he got dissed because of his looks.



"As a user of genjutsu there are strange things you come across whilst training, that is all i can say"


"genjutsu huh? I always wanted to learn genjutsu, but i had no one to teach me"


Kusanagi kept wondering what stranger things the man had seen, Kusanagi always wanted to learn genjutsu. He wanted to manipulate the minds of those who disrespected him.


"So you haven't met him either, huh?"


"jeah, i wonder what he looks like" Kusanagi said as he did somethinking

"one day i'm gonna be Kazekage, all of you will respect me" Kusanagi said giving Kai a smirk.



"You said you wanted to take a mission right? We could both take up a mission after this meal. I was planning to do one anyway"


"Yea, we should, i want to get out of this village and explore the world out there, a mission can help get me out"

As they were talking the owner returned with their food. Kusa couldn't wait to get his hands on his food, he had been day dreaming about them. The big guy came out with the owner, Kai gave the man a grin and the muscular dude returned it.

"weirdos" Kusa thought thinking about all the weird things they did.


"sorry little guy, i couldn't get you that beer, maybe try again when you're a few years older" the owner said with a laugh.


Kusa knew that he wasn't gonna get a beer. He actually didn't want the beer, he didn't know what made him to ask for a beer. As soon as the owner placed their food on the table, Kusa unfolded the bandage on his left hand, revealing the mouth on his palm. He washed his hands and after washing them he grabbed the burger with both his hands and murdered it.

Absolute heaven, that was where Kai was right now. He drifted off in his own little dream world. The dango was so delicious that it gave Kai shivers. The sauce glazing on the dango complimented the texture so well, and Kai could tell that it was made perfectly. It was the perfect savory snack, better than what Kai could have asked for. Kusanagi told Kai about his plan to become Kazekage, Kai simply blinked his eyes in disbelief. Even if he was one day to become Kazekage Kai wouldn't want it to be anytime soon, he wanted just one Kazekage. Even if it was just for awhile longer.

As Kai joyfully munched away at his dango his attention was diverted to Kusanagi, who looked just as hungry if not more than Kai was. As the young shinobi would unwrap his bandage Kai gazed in surprise at what was behind it.

'A mouth! That's a mouth right?' Kai would think to himself, but his thoughts could most probably be discovered through his shocked expression. In fact it actually made Kai stop munching his dango, only if just for a moment.

Both Arvel and Angus were just as surprised as Kai was. Previously Arvel had been washing a glass with a cloth, but now he gazed at the hand in wonder. Angus simply stood there in shock.

They would all stare at Kusanagi for a few more moments, then would return back to what they were doing in a instant. All with a hint of suspicion written on their faces, Kai nervously swallowed his dango.

It was true, Kai had seen many strange things as a shinobi. But who would of thought something as strange as a hand mouth existed, especially so close to home. It almost made Kai think he was under some genjutsu, but it only took him a few nervous mouth fulls of dango to think otherwise.

Kai finished off the last of his meal and placed his plate to the side, it was only a small portion but it tasted great. The last few bites managed to calm his nervous attitude toward Kusanagi's second mouth.

"Thank you for the meal, it tasted great." Kai said with a friendly smile on his face.

"Not a problem. We could tell it was great anyway, it was written all over your face!" Arvel would point out, with another one of his laughs. Kai would wait for Kusanagi to finish his meal before standing up and dusting off himself.

"Well, I'm off. See you both around!"

Kai raised his hand to both Arvel and Angus to say goodbye, and they said their goodbyes too. Trusting that Kusanagi would follow, Kai would wait outside the restaurant for his multiple mouth friend.

When unwrapping the bandage on his left time, Kusanagi looked to the side and saw that Kai was realy enjoying his dango or whatever he was eating. When Kusanagi's hand was revealed, there was and awkward silence, all eyes where on Kusa's mouth, Kusa noticed that they all looked shocked, he couldn't blame them since Sunagakure did not have people like him, he still thought that they were weird.


"its only a mouth, it won't bite you" Kusanagi said when he saw that the three men were very shocked.



Kusanagi turned his face to face his burger. He couldn't wait to dive in. He didn't waste anytime, he quickly grabbed the burger with both arm and too big bites. The way that he was eating showed that this young man was very hungry, he chewed the burger slow to feel the richness of the cheese. The burger reminded him of the adventures he went on with his brother Rusanagi. 'man, those wer the days' he thought to himself as he finished his burger.


It did not take Kusa long to finish his food.

"that burger was realy something, give my compliments to the chef" Kusanagi said as he stood up.


His stomach was now full and he was ready to go on an adventure. As his new buddy Kai said his good byes to the owner and his muscular friend Kusanagi took his mask and went to the toilet. He came back after a few seconds with the bandage wraped around his left palm to cover the mouth, and his tiger mask on his face.




"we're leaving now, thanks for the nice meal" Kusanagi said as he waved at the owner and his friend.

"farewell, young one" the owner said waving back at Kusa.


Kusanagi exited the restuarant to catch up with Kai. He went there in a hurry thinking that Kai had left him, but Kai wasn't far, he was just outside.


"Man, Kai, that burger was something, we should come here again" Kusanagi said as he walked towards Kai.



Kusanagi checked his pouch to make sure that his clay was still soft. After seeing that his clay was fine they would head to the KazeKage's tower.

As Kusanagi left the restaurant Kai would greet him with a smile. It appeared he didn't like showing his face in public, or that was what Kai assumed with the mask on his face. His mouth on his hand was now covered in such a way it couldn't be seen anymore. It was true, it did surprise him a bit, but not enough to really freak him out or anything of the sort. After all like Kai said, being a user of genjutsu you see a lot of strange things whilst training. The older shinobi turned to the younger one as he looked excited to go on what Kai assumed was his first mission. Then Kai realized he was already ahead of him.

"H-hey wait up!"

Kai would catch up to Kusanagi quickly, he had only walked a few meters ahead. It appeared that he was walking in the direction of the Kazekage tower, but was there really a need for both of them to go? Kai figured one of them should wait at the village gate whilst the other collected the mission, a nod of silent approval with folded arms marked Kai's decision.

"Hey, Kusanagi, I think one of us should wait at the village gate. I can go collect the mission, and you can wait there".

It wasn't at all a bad idea, and would save them the time of walking there, Kai could probably get over there faster than Kusanagi could. Assuming that Kusanagi would agree with Kai's decision he would speak up.

"Alright, see you over there then!" Kai would say as he wondered off in the direction of the Kazekage tower.

As he would walk away from Kusanagi he would wave him goodbye, then turn around back the way he was looking. It had been such a long time for Kai since he had last met somebody new, a few years in fact. The time passed really slowly before when he had nobody to talk to, he was isolated really. Those years sure were lonely, Kai thought to himself. The only person he ever talked to was his sensei, and that was only on occasions. Yet, today seemed to have passed by so quickly. The afternoon was almost over. 'Oh well' Kai thought to himself.

'Time flies by when you're having fun, I guess.', the shinobi would shrug to himself.

Kusanagi walked outside the restaurant, and moved a few feet thinking that Kai was ahead, he looked back and realised that Kai did not leave him. He was greeted by a smile from Kai. While they were heading towards the Kazekage's tower Kai suggested to run there on his own to save time. Kusanagi agreed, and went to sit under a tree, he waited for Kai there, Kusa waited and waited but Kai did not come back.




"he's a B ranked shinobi, maybe something important came up, i should probably head home"


Kusanagi stood up and headed home, you could tell that the poor guy was disappointed, he realy wanted to go on a mission with his new friend.


"maybe next time, next time Kusa"
kusa says to himself as he walked home.
