Becoming Law (KMP Missions Thread)

Description of mission: A criminal who has been known to terrorize Konoha for ages has finally been apprehended. Although the case has been solved the evidence runs thin. In order to get this guy convicted for good the KMP needs a full confession. Whatever the means, make sure that he writes a confession. Everything is allowed during your interrogation as the correct people have been persuaded into turning a blind eye, so don’t hold back.
Mission objectives:
• Get a confession out of the criminal, no matter what.
Reward: 3,187 Ryo
Limit: Must be a KMP officer.

Tarah and Vi stepped into the criminal's dim room. They wore the standard set of Military Police uniforms and badges, but Tarah was the only one with the baton strapped to her belt. The room was largely featureless. The walls were flat gray concrete, and the tables were stained with grime.

A single camera rest up in one of the corners, but it didn't appear to have any power. None of the lighters were on or flashing. It was just as Jenny had promised.

The criminal looked up at the twin sisters. His hands were cuffed behind his back, but he relaxed his feet on top of the metal table. When he spoke, his tone was undeniably smug, "Oh, ladies, so very nice to meet you! You're both much better looking than the old coots I talked with before."

Tarah matched the criminals grin with her own. She tossed a small stack of documents onto the table, then plopped herself onto the opposite chair. "That's cause we're new, Mr. Antell Sanrei," she said.

Vi stood off at the side, and didn't make any other sound.

Antell laughed. "They're sending in rookies, are they? So they really did run out of options."

"Oh, I wouldn't say out of options," said Tarah. "But... now that I'm here... I would say that you're out of luck."

[Nira]

Antell raised his eyebrow, then laughed again. "Outta luck, eh? What're gonna do, girl? Nag me or something?"

"Well, for starters," Tarah suddenly struck the table from below using her knee. The metal table jumped up, lifting Antell's feet and causing him to tumble back. The criminal cried out as he painfully landed on his head.

"What do you think you're doing, kid?!" Antell yelled.

Vi sighed and walked behind the downed criminal. She grabbed his chair, then lifted Antell back upright. There was a couple thumps as the chair settled back into place. "Be careful with his head," said Vi. "If you break it, I don't think it counts as a success."

Tarah shook her head. She picked up the documents and pointed to a few scribbles near the bottom. "I wouldn't worry about it, sis. This guy's pretty tough. Says here that he's been committing all sorts of violent crimes around the village."

When the two girls ignored him, Antell's face glowed red. "This is against the law! You can't harm me like this!"

Tarah chuckled at the criminal's outrage. She turned her head and stared at the metallic door behind her. For the next minute, she quietly gazed upon the door. When nothing else happened, she turned back to the criminal. "I don't see anyone coming, Mr. Sanrei. I guess that means harming you isn't an issue."

[Nira]

"You're gonna regret this, kid. You have no idea what I can do." said Antell.

Tarah slowly leaned over the table. "I don't think so, Mr. Sanrei. But, if you'd like to write down all those little things you can do, I'd appreciate it."

Antell growled. "You think I'm stupid, kid? If you don't back off you're gonna get burned."

"Very interesting choice of words." Tarah put her documents down and laughed. "Quite fitting, if you can believe it."

A violet cloak of burning flames burst forth, which completely consumed Tarah. Her laugh continued from behind the veil of fire. The enclosed room began to heat up like an oven, causing Antell to sweat. Vi had multiple forms of heat resistance, so the violet flames didn't bother her in the slightest.

"I think you'll be the one getting burned." Tarah said from beneath the blaze.

A tiny stream of violet flames reached out from the inferno and began to approach the criminals face. No matter how Antell turned his head, the stream of fire would keep approaching his eye.

"No! Get away from me!" Antell yelled.

"I'm a fairly practical person, Mr. Sanrei," said Tarah. "Thing is, I only need your brain and fingers to work, so I could get a confession. Anything else, such as your eyes, aren't really required."

[Nira]

The criminal didn't say a word. He was denying what was happening before his eyes. An officer wouldn't burn someone, surely? That illusion was broken when the violet flames grazed Antell's eyelid. His eyebrow was singed away, and the skin over his eye grew shiny. The criminal was terrified. His mind was filled with pain, as well as a possibility of his death.

Antell screamed and tried his best to jerk back. "Get away from me, you damned child!"

"You know how to stop it!" said Tarah.

Before the criminal could reply, Tarah suddenly gripped his shoulder. New screams of agony filled the dimly lit room. Antell shook violently in an effort to rid himself of the blazing hand.

"Okay, okay, I'll talk!" Antell yelled.

With that declaration, it was all over. The violet flames faded away from Tarah's body. All the heat produced still lingered and made everything feel like a furnance. The rookie officer grinned, then pushed forward a piece of paper and a pen.

Tarah looked over at her Soul Split clone. "Release his writing hand, sis."

Vi nodded and released one of the cuffs. She locked the loose cuff onto the chair, so that the criminal was still chained down. "Better start writing, or else my sister won't hold back." said Vi.

When the confession was finished, Tarah would grab it and leave the dim room.

Patrol in the Centre.

Description of mission: The KMP is currently running low on cash, go to the relatively safe centre of Konoha and patrol the streets there, looking for any wrongdoers and fine them. Today’s quota for your shift today is at least six fines. Go out there and fine whomever is doing something wrong. Watch out as some people might get aggressive for no reason when getting fined.
Mission objectives:
• Fine any wrongdoers you spot.
Reward: 1,562 Ryo
Limit: Must be a KMP officer.

Tarah Featherook walked down the busy market street.

A black cloak veiled the young girl's body, although it just looked like she was wearing it against the cold of Winter. It hid her hunter green KMP uniform, so she was partially undercover among the citizens.

Underneath the cloak, besides her KMP uniform and badge, was her set of melody arms. They were going to be used to place of her baton, since their abilities were great for subduing her targets. Metal gauntlets also worked better with her various fighting styles.

Tarah kept her mono-goggle in her left pocket, since wearing it made her look off, and could give her away. A disruptor was in her right pocket, for when she wanted to avoid cameras.

Tarah looked around for people to fine. She just needed six to meet her quota, and there were no specific criminals to find.

The first target was a citizen named Sarrius Lulrin, a merchant of a local stall. Most of the general market square had been filled, so he opened shop outside of the designated area. It seemed he understood the risks, because he simply looked disappointed when Tarah showed him her badge. The man paid the fine, then packed up his items and left with an air of sorrow.

The second was a bit more troublesome. A particular bulky man claimed to dislike the taste of a dumpling stand, so he reduced to pay for his food. However, he had eaten all the dumplings on his place before making the claim, so it was clearly just an attempt to get some free food. The shop keeper didn't do anything about it, since he didn't want to get into a conflict with such a large man.

Tarah was perfectly willing to brawl.

The young officer stopped the bulky man before he could walk too far. She flashed his badge, and asked for the man to pay both the bill and a fine.

He laughed, not unexpected. Tarah was quite young, after all. He raised his hand to push her aside, like one would with a child blocking way.

A moment before the hand could touch her, Tarah reached out with her left and grabbed the man's wrist. Her melody gauntlet's shock enhancement activated, sending an electrical charge through his entire body.

Once he was incapacitated on the floor, Tarah retrieved his wallet, then payed back the shop owner. She also made sure to take a the rest of the cash for the fine.

Third on the list was a woman who littered. She finished eating some fried fish, then threw the wrappings on the floor. Tarah jumped on her, insisting she pay and retrieve the paper she dropped. The woman also laughed, but Tarah was less patient this time. She reached up with her right hand, and froze the woman's shoulder with her cryo enhancement. She screamed and squealed, but eventually paid the fine to get away from Tarah.

Tarah heard the sounds of a spray can over in a nearby alley. Suspicious of the noise, she quickly stepped into the dark area to investigate. Around the corner, in the back streets of several shops, a boy was currently tagging the brick wall of a random establishment. When he spotted Tarah, he didn't make any attempt to hide his actions. He just told her to go away. Just like before, he didn't consider the possibility that she could have been an officer of the law.

The alley glowed bright from the shock of the gauntlet.

After leaving the alley and patrolling some more, Tarah overheard another curious sound coming from inside a particular building. It was a shop, but the sign outside said that they were closed. However, from the corner of the dark window, Tarah was able to spot the movement of someone inside. Tarah immediately circled around the building, until she spotted an open window where entry was gained.

The thief, a woman desperate for cash, was found and promptly stunned.

After going to great lengths to obtain the additional fines, Tarah was left with one more to fulfill the current requirement. Her sixth target was a little girl who was attempting to climb the fence to private property. Just as the girl barely made it to the top of the fence, Tarah plucked her off and set her down.

The little girl whined, saying how her ball was on the other side. The cries were ignored. The final fine was collected from the shuddering parent of the girl.

<Patrol in the Centre #2>

After a few hours on break, Tarah went back out on patrol. She was ready to collect another set of fines from those who were stupid enough to break the village laws. Her first target was found quite easily. A man had been lugging around a few gallons of fire fuel, and had tripped over an out-of-place stone. The resulting splash nailed a torch, which set off a massive blaze. It was an accident, of course, but it was still arsonist activity. One show of the badge and the man quickly relented.

A child, who had gotten a four-scoop-high ice cream cone, immediately tipped the treat over and spilled it on the pants of her father. The anger set in quickly, and the girl was soon being disciplined via smacks to her bottom. However, this was a public display of child abuse, which Tarah was happy to put a stop to. The parent was outraged, and ignored the teenage girl who was trying to fine in. Tarah didn't even wait a few seconds before crippling him with a stunning touch to the back of the neck.

Tarah was sure she saw the child smile, if only for a moment. The fine was easily enough to get out of the wallet.

With her disguise still identical to before, Tarah was able to blend into a crowd without issue. She spotted a little tramp trying to lift a pouch of coins from the back of a fat man. It was funny to watch, before the tramp was so bad at hiding his motions. Regardless of that, the fat man barely noticed when his coin pouch had been slipped away. Clearly those folds of meat dampened his senses far too much to notice.

Tarah was quick to catch up to the tramp, and relieved him of the coin pouch. However, since the tramp was clearly broke, Tarah just kept the stolen pouch as the fine payment. It needed to be confiscated as evidence, anyway.

Shouts and the sound of breaking glass filled the air. Tarah turned to see a shop owner with fearful eyes. A pair of gang members were currently hassling him about protection money. Another show of force and an attempt to get easy money from weak merchants. Tarah sighed when she spotted the pathetic crime in process. She stepped into the store, ring the bell as she entered and catching the attention of the three people that were inside.

The two gang members laughed, thinking that Tarah was just a clueless girl who walked into a situation she didn't understand. She approached her, their voices dripping with patronizing sarcasm, and asked the teenage girl to leave the store. That they were closing, and whatnot. Tarah was surprised that the shopkeeper didn't make a run for it. The gang members had both turned their backs, a rookie mistake. Well, facing Tarah wasn't much of a good idea either.

The man on the left went down with a shock to his throat. The man on the right clutched at his neck, which had been frozen as solid as cooked pottery.

Cash in hand from the wallets of the gang members, Tarah continued to wander through the center area of the village. She didn't see or hear anything this time, but her nose picked up the scent of fertilizer and gunpowder. It came from a basement dwelling. The teenage girl entered the room from the open window, though she had to punch out the bars. A lady was down here, working on creating various explosives. When Tarah showed off her badge, the woman began to freak out.

Setting off premature explosives had knocked the lady out, while Tarah shrugged off the damage with her trained bodily resistances. After a few minutes of searching, she was able to collect a fine from a locked metal box.

[Nira]

<Patrol #3>

Stalkers pissed Tarah off. They were easy to spot though, when you knew what to look for. In a nearby bathhouse, Tarah walked around until she saw a clear window. On the opposite side of that was a pervert with a camera in hand. He was trying to film whoever, which was illegal regardless of who it was. The teenage girl jumped up to the rooftops, moving silently until she was right behind the creep.

He survived a fall off the roof, though he was unconscious enough to extract an appropriate fine from his wallet. The rest of the money, and the camera, went to the bathhouse manager, to do with as she pleased.

A boy was currently swinging a bat into the glass windows and some empty shops. There were no people around, so it was probably an act of aggression rather than an act of attention-grabbing. Could be both, though. Tarah didn't feel like asking questions at this point, so she just jumped in behind the boy and brought him down with a punch to the head. He had some identification for his house, so Tarah dropped him off with some angry parents and collected the fine for property damage.

For whatever reason, a monkey was picking fruit from a tree in a private property. Once picked, the monkey returned the fruit to an old woman in a tea shop. The woman was momentarily confused, but accepted the fruit. Once she witnessed the act, Tarah stepped into the shop, and charged the woman for enabling theft and trespassing. Hilariously enough, the monkey began to attack Tarah. It was promptly dispatched with a slap from the shock enhanced gauntlet, which sent the animal falling limp to the floor.

The tea house made Tarah feel a bit hungry, so she stopped for a bowl of ramen. The serving cook was quite nice. He offered a fair price for a bowl, which Tarah was quick to accept. A couple ate nearby, and sat just two tables away from Tarah. Their conversation wasn't quite clear, but Tarah didn't like the way they looked around the shop. It was clear that they were up to something, so the teenage girl kept her observation constant.

As she thought, the couple stood up and began to slip out of the store as soon as the serving cook was out of sight. Tarah stood up and ran over to the couple before they could leave through the door. A quick kick behind their knees sent them crashing down. A bit of ankle freezing, and they were begging for forgiveness. The young officer collected the fine from both people, as well as the cost of their food. As thanks for stopping some dine and dash folks, Tarah's own ramen bowl was free of charge.

After eating and collecting appropriate fines, Tarah was back on the street for a final target. It was found by the sound of chickens. Tarah heard the sound of the flightless birds coming from behind a wooden fence. She look a quick look to determine that there were three chickens running about, but no formal sheltered housing for the little animals. She contacted the residents of the home, and found with confirmation that the chickens were kept without a permit of any kind. They certainly didn't count as pets. Luckily, the people were filling to accept the fine, and requirement to get a license as soon as possible.

<Patrol #4>

The crashing sound of broken glass was a sound that Tarah was getting very used to. A bar fight had broken out in a nearby establishment. With a new target to fine, Tarah rushed towards the commotion. The bouncer at the front of the bar refused to let her through, much to the girl's annoyance. She debated stunning him in order to get in, and the man's attention was soon captured by the sound of more broken furniture.

The bouncer turned and ran into the bar, in hopes of helping keep order. Tarah quickly followed him from behind.

The bar was dark, so the fight was hard to see for most people. Tarah immediately switched over to her aura sight, in order to get a better idea of where all the fighters were. There were three bright orange auras, the color of intense anger in Tarah's eyes.

The teenage girl sprung into action. Her physical brawler abilities were almost perfect for a bar fight, even though she wasn't old enough to drink in one.

Like a feather in the breeze, she slipped through the tumbling bodies. Every time she passed by someone, she would gently brush her shocking melody arm across their body. In effect, the person would go down without a fight. Behind the young KMP officer, a trail of groaning bodies littered the floor.

Purple auras were largely avoided and ignored by Tarah. Those people were just fearful, although most tried to hide those feelings from others without the gift of aura sight. It was understandable. As tough as a man may look, it takes a lot of fight experience to ignore chaos of battle. Naturally, as a shinobi and as a long-lived soul, Tarah Featherook was beyond that type of fear.

The bar was quite large. There were also numerous combatants all around the place. Most of them just had their strength out for show. Getting pumped in the gym, as they say, didn't amount to much. Most victors in this current tavern brawl obtained their triumph by use of improvised weapons.

Anyone trying to use a broken bottle was rather moronic, in Tarah's eyes. Honestly, as effective as a sharp weapon may be, it's useless if it can't actually reach anyone. The way they were holding it was also horrifyingly inefficient. Held out like a child with an ice cream pop. A hundred of these men wouldn't be a problem for the young officer.

In the aftermath, twelve people were stunned for their involvement in the brawl. When the bartender finally had the sense to turn the lights up, Tarah stood at the center of a pile of bodies. Her fanny planted itself on a sticky wood table, while she downed a fizzy glass of soda. It didn't have that strong smell of alcohol, so it was legal for her to drink it.

Tarah Featherook showed off her badge as the brawlers began to recover from their stunned condition.

She only fined the guys that pissed her off the most, appearance wise. They were all similar, but a few people had insulting senses of fashion. Obviously born from their misplaced desire to show off more muscular skin.

After hitting her quota of six, Tarah let the other guys off.

There were a few bribes here and there, naturally.

Whack a Hippie!

Description of mission: A small forest that had been designated to be leveled has overnight suddenly become infested with hippies. They have chained themselves to the trees and demand that the trees will not be cut down. They are seriously hampering the developers plans so be sure to evict them properly. A few knocks with your baton could provide a good cure, since they are chained to the trees they can’t do anything back anyways.
Mission objectives:
• Evict the hippies from the small forest.
Reward: 1,562 Ryo
Limit: Must be a KMP officer.

Tarah couldn't help but wonder why she was being called to remove a few hippies. There aren't exactly know for being... well... they aren't exactly fighters. Even their entire purpose in life revolved around peace. Then again, getting assault charges would likely hamper the developers too much to risk. If only there existed a permit for the reasonable use of force. It would be abused, but then that's just another crime that the KMP could officially take care of.

Getting rid of some peaceful junkies was so... demeaning. They had apparently chained themselves to trees. Considering that they were hindering construction wonders, it was a wonder how that could have worked. Construction workers should have at least one tool that could slice through chains, right? Metal links aren't precisely the most durable of materials.

There was no need for the cloak for this mission. Tarah had all her important gear on hand. Her melody gauntlets were loaded and properly armed. A bit of electricity was sure to solve most of the problem. The mono-goggle was rooted over her left eye, so that no one could hide from her. Her KMP badge was pinned on her uniform, so she was fully prepared to end this as quickly as possible.

[Nira]

They were yelling at Tarah, the hippies. Always going on about preserving nature and keeping the balance of the world intact. Yeah, like plowing down a few trees would affect the grand scheme of things. Yes, it's true that if the same was done in a large scale, the forest system would be disrupted. However, this was an area within the bounds of the village. Further improvement here was no issue at all. Citizens had access to plenty of vegetation from their own personal gardens. It was already pretty balanced out.

Tarah approached the loudest of all the hippies. She associated his volume with leadership, since no one else talked while the loudest hippie spoke. The teenage officer might have been wrong, but the gazes of the others seemed to indicate that they respected this person. With a quick glance of soul sight, she was able to find plenty of confidence and pride swirling about. Extensions of joy, shades of green. A bit of red too, which meant some genuine passion and love.

While the rant of hippies continued, Tarah grabbed the chain with her shock enhanced melody gauntlet. Arguments turned into yells of agony. The head hippie and his fellow tree-lackies were all lightly electrocuted as Tarah filled the metal chain links with an electrical charge.

Silence. A successful stun.

Tarah smiled, then turned towards the other chained hippies. They all began to either yell at her, or fiddle with their chain links. The teenage officer casually walked through the trees, charging all the metallic chains. Screams and yells filled the air of the thin forest, before it all grew silent.

The hippies just needed to be removed and transported to prison after that.

The protecting of beautiful Lilly, Akane Tagawa

Description of mission: As a film crew has come to the woods near Konoha in order to shoot various scenes where the characters are based in dense woodland, the crew have asked for the Konoha Military Police to protect the main actress, the beautiful Akane Tagawa from perverts and obsessed fans that usually stalk them as they film. Be aware, these people will go to no limits in order to get photographs of her, and have been known to even burst in on film scenes!
Mission objectives:
• Protect Akane. Send off any people who invade the filming.
• Make sure that she and the crew are made safe from the more rabid fans!
Reward: 3,187
Limit: Must be a KMP officer.

More undeserved police work. Tarah was getting a bit sick of the unnecessarily provision of officers. Why did she have to be here of all places? Protecting an actress seemed like a job served solely for bodyguards, not an elite police force. There was no way that this so called 'Akane' was valuable enough to warrant government attention. She was just here to shoot a film. Something that common people pay to see just so they could sit on their bums for a little while longer.

She acted nice, not so much a diva, so there was that. She knew the importance of Tarah's position, and didn't ask for anything normally provided by assistants and interns. Unfortunately, Akane wasn't nice enough to call the entire protection service off. She seemed convinced that it was justified, but Tarah wasn't making the connection. The film crew located itself in a dense forest, a bit more natural looking than the ones occupied earlier by determined hippies.

With not much to do while the film was recorded, Tarah turned her attention to the surroundings. The trees here were common, so they weren't of value to her like other lumber herbs. She gently brushed her right melody arm over some of the bark, to watch as a thin layer of white frost pasted itself over the surface. It grow like a plant, but resembled some abstract art. Well, everything resembled abstract art, actually. While Tarah wasted her own time pondering this, time flew by.

But it all stood still, as a scream filled the air.

[Nira]

As it turned out, the great actress just tripped. The scream was an instinctive reaction to the event, which now held no point. All it did was capture Tarah's attention, and her annoyance shortly after that. It was as the young officer suspected from the beginning. Nothing here was much of a threat, the KMP didn't need to attend the filming for this actress. If fans really were such a problem, then bodyguards were more than enough. The actress was surrounded by them.

However, out of the corner of Tarah's eye, she saw a glimmer. One made from a mirror or glass, not something common to nature. It originated from across the forest, behind one of the thicker trees. She was still doubtful as to the danger posed on the actress, but she investigated all the same. Her annoyance did not lead to neglect. The teenage girl sneaked through the branches above, until she located herself right over the area where the glint was spotted.

Sure enough, there was a girl there. Young, almost Tarah's age, although her face was hard to make out in the shade of the forest. Tarah jumped off from her branch and dived down, landing right next to whoever this other girl was.

Upon getting a closer look, Tarah knew that the hiding girl was a confirmed fan. The pink shirt with 'Akane' written in white was the most significant clue for the conclusion.

There was a camera present, so Tarah confiscated it as evidence for stalking and invasion. It would file under harassment, but it wouldn't be too serious against a minor.

[Nira]

Problem imminent.

After taking the girl over to the bodyguards, Tarah was sure her job was done. There were no other heat signatures in the surrounding area, so the filming was supposed to be safe. She went back to studying the world around her, oblivious to the possibility that something horrible was about to happen. It came into focus when the bodyguards shouted about finding the fangirl in possession of a radio. It was hidden in her hair, a rather clever disguise, and Tarah didn't notice its existence.

Noticing wouldn't do much good either. Even if the device was disrupted and wiped clean, any messages already sent out would have long since been received. The fans of Akane knew exactly where to find the filming crew. Everyone, Tarah included, knew that a riot was a very real possibility. Fans tended to be stupidly dedicated like that. Feeling a headache coming along, the young officer opted to get some help. Her soul sister Vi Gesic needed to be called out.

Tarah Featherook dug out her soul, and willed it to split in two. From thin air, an identical twin materialized. They already knew what the other thought, so their short greeting was just a useless formality. Vi was to keep the actress safe from harm, which was more her style of protection. On the other hand, Tarah was going to be crowd control.

The filming couldn't be stopped. They needed the shot to be taken at just the right area, or else previous shots would have their continuity broken. A stampede of fans would also displace far too much of the forest to continue any filming.

The rumbling of eager footsteps began to fill the atmosphere...

Too many people loved this single person. Tarah was pretty sure about that.

There were too many to count, and they surrounded the set like an army of cockroaches. Tarah's crowd control capabilities weren't quite up to par, so she couldn't calm down all the incoming drones. From her side, she was able to stun fans one by one, as well as distract a few groups with some well placed bard songs.

Vi set up an absolute tenkai barrier around the actress and the film crew. It stopped all the rushing fans, but it was a limited form of defense. The common people who pounded against the barrier couldn't break through, but the barrier itself had a time limit. Tarah had to repel the horde before Vi ran out of energy to set up any protections.

Of course, as an officer of the law, Tarah wasn't able to kill. Her abilities were also unfortunately geared towards killing. She was a bit too pragmatic about battles. Stunning them one by one wasn't going to get anywhere, and there was no way she could keep so many down at once. The shock enhancement only affected targets for so long. Soon after, they were bound to break free and walk again.

Like a cataclysm.

Humans could be quite terrifying. Eventually, Tarah found herself standing at the top of Vi's barrier. Every time a wave of fans approached, she would thrust them back with a soul gust. The attack injured their soul in a way that slowed them down without killing them. She still had to be careful of how many shots she threw, but fans eventually realized the futility.
