Clearly this method of learning was working, Kenji saw some notable improvements in his abilities for instance he was able to incorporate jokes in to his characters. The trick was what level, or type of joke would that character tell? Not all characters could qualify as being funny after all, some people in real life actually told jokes that weren’t even funny whether they be a ‘dad joke’ or something that is to depraved to even be considered dark humour. There were of course lines that some characters would cross, a nerdy character might not be that quick witted instead they tell a scientific based joke that other scholars find funny but the common man are incapable of understanding. The douchbag style character might have a very sharp wit, making lots of people laugh. Of these factors would have to be considered by Kenji should he attempt to progress to the next stage of acting and actually impersonate a character that holds very few traits of his.
To do this he would have to master an array of variations, from comical genius to stone faced teacher. Even in the setting of a profession certain character types could be incorporated, for example the douchbag doctor could tell someone they were fine, only to reveal that they were just fucking around, and you actually have a few days left to live!
