The Ancient Ruins [EVENT]

The road, insofar, to the ruins has been quite uneventful. All that remained inbetween the party was the stretch of ancient road described by Cincinnatus. The rainy weather had continued to approach, but the party was only traveling away from it, and it hadn’t yet reached Tanzaku Gai. The sun still shone, and the wind was a gentle breeze to their backs. There was little to be desired, and that was the atmosphere of adventure. But perhaps those rain clouds would come and bring that as well. It had been almost an hour since the meeting in the office.

The stretch of ancient road intersected the more modern road in a lowly populated area. It went through a forested area, and therefore was covered with leaves, but looked quite good for a road hardly used for over a thousand years. There was nothing to do, except advance down it, correct?

here seemed to be no end to this road, one that had seen its busiest times at least a thousand years ago, yet it was still in pristine condition. The sturdy blue shinobi sandals he wore at his feet were barely needed. Every so often The Kazeraikou would cast an eye behind him, viewing the group itself and the sky behind him in the distance. Mostly during the walk however he decided to stay close to the Yuki nin. That she had an umbrella was merely an added bonus. "It saddens me that your village decided to be at odds with mine. If the relationship is ever mended you should try to come over, see our research centre. I am sure you would have a blast. Of course assuming that we have things that your village does not and vice versa." He said to the blue haired beauty, attempting to strike up a conversation again.

Still heavily armed, carrying 16 kunai, 4 smoke, 14 frag and 4 stun grenades and 20 senbon,of which ten had explosive tags wrapped around them. Then there were his items that were not weapons, 3 blood clot pills, 2 soldier pills, 2 small scrolls, an amazing quality world map, a lensatic compass and manacles with impossible locks. All of these were still hidden out of sight, spread out between his cobalt haori and a pouch, a butt bag and a triple scroll size pouch all attached to his sash at his back. The sash itself contained his battle fan and gasmask with E-type filter. Then there were his two wireless radios. He still had one equipped on his own person tuned to channel 420, whereas the second one was being worn by Vi Gesic, tuned to the same channel.

The sun shone down for now, luckily his thin white kosode and hakama with a purple trim were effective at containing not too much heat. Yet he was certainly not properly equipped to deal with any possible rain, other than just toughening up and sitting it out. Perhaps if it would start to pour down he could use Sir Pounce'a'lot as a giant walking umbrella. Whenever he looked behind him he could see the huge redknee tarantula behind the group, walking ten meters behind them. He was so far the only person who could see it, having kept the invisibility Genjutsu up for this long. Only those who had some sixth sense would be able to discern its presence.

This venture to the ancient Chakra Empire dig site hadn't been too tedious on my body---I had grown accustomed to traveling by foot around the world since I had left Shimo no Kuni and this walk allowed me to further gauge those around me. Upon my person had been black cloths, which complimented my dark claw and gauntlet combination well that fit around my left arm. To my right hip had been the small fan that I kept on me at all times; the shortsword that I also possessed lay within its sheathe that swung lightly as our group moved through the forest region. At my back had been my buttbag, wherein lay a single kunai, numerous star-shaped ninja stars and explosive and elemental tags; within a solitary slot had been a regional map of my homeland Hi Kuni. Had we gotten lost on our excursion, then perhaps my sense of direction and this map would aid us in our venture. A medium sized disc was folded at my lower back, which I had found within a cave during my time back in Toshi Village. I had yet to use this weapon, but I may have had the chance now that we moved on towards the dig site.

My head turned towards the west, as I noticed dark clouds rolling towards us from Ame no Kuni. Even in my time outside of the lands plagued with rain, I now faced a possible chance to be caught inside the coming drizzle. "A storm draws near from the Land of Rain," I had stated to those in my company, gauging the weather with my sense of understanding. Even if it had come, I had grown used to being under the torrential downpour of the land, plus my black long sleeved shirt possessed a hood had I needed use of it. I noticed that the kunoichi from Yuki Kuni had brought along with her an umbrella... she out of most seemed prepared for all sorts of weather change given her current winter attire. 

Having heard but a tidbit of the conversation between the former Hokage Gosei and Nieve, my ears perked once talk about their respective villages having bad terms. Could a possible war break out in the future? I didn't care, but I could only guess. I continued to walk near the back of the group, so I had been lucky to caught glimpses of their mouths moving and even hear their conversation on the quiet environ. Vi was closest to me at this point, and I steadily strolled along, feeling that the man Gosei may have held many answers to some questions that I possessed.

Nothing changed, yet.

Tarah Featherook and Vi Gesic walked with the group in their usual spots. Tarah was near the center about a meter behind Gosei. If the foreign girls decided to stay with Gosei, then they were in front of Tarah as well.

Vi was near the back, alongside the only other male besides the Godaime Hokage.

Both girls still had their bonuses activated. Either one of the soul sisters could become a real body, thanks to the nature of the Soul Split. Their souls were linked, allowing them to understand the status of their counterpart at all times. Neither mind could be affected by fear, intimidation, charms, or compulsions. Climates of excessive heat or cold were also perfectly bearable.

The chakra splitting effect had been regenerated by a song of mana from hours ago. The soul draining effect of the split, and all the other enhancements, were cured by a blight siphon. However, using a few soul skills back at the university drained a little of their power away, but the amount taken was nearly insignificant thanks to the simplicity of the techniques.

The girls had different outfits, but they neglected to carry the village headband, since it wasn’t needed.

Only works if there is life around the user, this includes plants, creatures, and etc. Somewhat of a soul drain attack to replenish their soul at the cost of others. User must hold this technique for 1 round. Tiny creatures and plants will die within 1 round. Small creatures and plants will pass on within 2 rounds. Medium creatures and plants will pass on within 4 rounds. Large creatures and plants will pass on within 8 rounds. Huge creatures and plants will pass on within 16 rounds. Not having much else to do, and having already gathered information with her soul techniques, Tarah decided to check the equipment of the other team members. The sniper mono-goggle over her left eye was still set to its X-ray lens, so it allowed her a clear view of anything composed of metal. The thermal and zooming lens weren’t much use right now. The anti-flash lens was always there to protect from glare.

In order to get a clear view from the X-ray vision, Tarah kept her right eye closed as she walked, so that the colors of standard vision were no longer a factor.

The X-ray vision was also useful if there were any ambushes. The ability to see metal gave an uncommon type of foresight.

Tarah wore the uniform of the Konoha Military Police, stripped of any village or clan identification. The uniform’s upper left chest pocket had a soldier pill. The upper right chest pocket had a disruptor. Melody Arms covered her forearms; the melody arm on her left glowed blue with cold energy, while the metal gauntlet on her right was yellow with electricity.

Vi Gesic didn’t have much equipment to note, but her clothes looked a little too formal for an expedition. There was one soldier pill hidden inside the large floppy hat on her head. She also wore a wireless radio given to her by Gosei, which was tuned to channel 420.

The older soul sister looked to the sky with a smidge of disappointment. Rain wasn’t going to be good for any of them. It wasn’t here yet, but being immersed in liquid was full was disadvantages. Elemental vulnerability was the biggest worry. Rain upon the land meant a playground for water, lightning, ice, and mud users. Wind too, if they got an advantage from storm clouds.

Well, that was something to focus on later.

Vi muttered a message to Tarah, and spoke it in the langue of fire creatures, Ignan. Those who did not understand that language would fail to hear the truth of her words. ”Heed the skies. Be ready to switch form.”

Kijo no Shimo, ancient empire explorer!

Nieve had remained mostly silent during they travelled for close to an hour in the Hi no Kuni countryside. The young scientist had been simply excited to see a land so foreign to what she had spent her whole life in. The massive clouds in the distance did not go unnoticed, mostly because Nieve noticed the tips of her hair slowly curling. The humidity rarely agreed with the blue locks. She missed the dry cold of her native land. Still her large eyes took everything in of the warm country, eager to see what more she could learn of its secrets, starting with this ancient civilization. She walked along the old road covered in leaves. From time to time she would bend down to inspect a leaf, sliding it inside of her coat for further study later.

The medic turned her gaze toward the Amegakure shinobi when he mentioned the weather. The boy probably knew the best about such meteo, after all he was from a land which was said to be cursed with eternal drizzle. Nieve did not believe in curses, but how could one explain eternal rain?

Soon came the Godaime with his talk of peace between their nations. Sadly Nieve was but an instrument of the village system, blindly following Pricilia and her law. When men did not follow the law, there were mere animals. Chaos had only been important in the past, to force evolution, but now, order was needed. Nieve would serve this order. She lifted her heard toward the taller, silver-haired shinobi. "One must admit the beauty in the dichotomy of Ice and Fire." She began, noticing that both of their lands were antithesis to one another. "But yes, though we live in a world of conflict, I would enjoy both of our villages being united. Especially when you speak of things like research facilities. Knowledge should be shared and studied together, not apart." She said with a smile, for a moment her eyes wide and starry as she stared toward Gosei.

Nieve did not need to focus to spread her net of her Mind's Eye of the Kagura. Instead her sixth sense was spread all around, to quite the advanced level. She had noticed the odd monster following them but had said nothing. She had noticed that an illusion had been used to cloaked the beast. But it had not attacked any of them so she remained silent. Still she decided to let everyone know of her ability. "In game anyone was wondering, I am using sensing abilities to make sure we have no surprises." She admitted, though she would not have been surprised to learn that any of the group had similar abilities. Knowing of their power level, she knew that most of the group were powerful.

The researcher checked her butt bag quickly. It contained three kunai, fifteen hira-shuriken, four frag-grenades and seven smoke grenades. Across her back was hung an umbrella, which may come in handy later.

Description: Picture By storing a vast amounts of chakra over an extended period of time into a specific point on their body — usually the forehead — the user creates this seal, which manifests in the form of a rhombus-like marking. Once the seal is formed, the user's already impressive chakra control allows them to perform techniques without any wasted energy. When released, the seal will either spread across the user's face (Yin Seal: Release) or wrap around their entire body (Strength of a Hundred Technique). The stored chakra is then released into their body, greatly amplifying their medical techniques by 1 Rank. A user may use a portion of the seal's chakra to maintain their youthful appearance. The user is able to use this technique with the same distance chart as Mind’s Eye of the Kagura. The user need not be affected by the illusion to see it. Description: This technique allows the user to tell when someone is lying via the various fluctuations in the chakra around them. These fluctuations in the chakra system stem from the dishonest emotions that are given birth through them not being fully honest. Fluctuations also occur when the opponent may be telling the truth, but leaving out a major detail. Mind's Eye must also be active in order for this jutsu to be used.

Clone Detection

Effect: Allows the user to detect clones.

Description: Due to their sight of the chakra nature and advanced abilities the user is able to differentiate between a clone and a real person. At C ranked the user can sense any clone except those which are learned at the next rank. At A rank the user can sense any and all clones including Kage Bunshin this is because of the advanced sensing abilities that allow the user to differentiate between human and animals.

Akiko followed just behind all the others, feeling the added mass of grapnel gun on each of her wrists, hidden mostly by her sleeves, and of the four butt bags and two sand-filled containers on her hips. The goggles with the integrated compass sat on her forehead, while her wireless radio was inserted into her ear. As for the contents of the bags; clotting pills, soldier pills, shuriken, kunai, explosive tags, and two types of grenades were all accounted for, as were a stack of explosive tags. Likely, she wouldn't need any of them, as if demolition was required, she could always use her chakra. She could feel the Irken pack on the small of her back, hidden under the length of her cloak.

Her air cubes, which she had activated earlier, remained near her, though her body had natureally recovered her chakra over the trip to the ruins, which they now approached.

Nobody would have any issues or delay as the party continued down their path. Despite the appearance of a quietly conversing team, many among them were observant, specifically the Yukinin, who used her supernatural art of sensory observation to try to make sure nothing out of the ordinary occurred. While she might have been tiring herself slightly unnecessarily, she continued her hand, as the allies walked and found the road of the ancients which would lead them to their destination.

No qualms seemed to be given as they turned onto the surpassingly immaculate road that dated from thousands of years ago.

It would seem to Nieve that the patterns of chakra flickering behind them, able to be observed only due to her sensory efforts, would detect an illusion happening somewhere to the rear. What it was, that was hard to say, as nothing appeared to be in the area otherwise.

Solus:
Time was beginning to pass, and it had been almost half an hour since Gosei had been alone, no doubt the illusion he had cast were starting to wear thin. The Dragon of Konoha would probably have to act on that before too long, or accept the fact that the deceptive nature of his less-than-sapient companionship would be revealed.

The user can get the feeling from another's behavior that something is wrong, such as when they are talking to an imposter. Alternatively, the user can get the feeling that someone is trustworthy. Very Difficult Difficulty.
Sense Enchantment: User can tell that someone's behavior is being influenced by an Enchantment effect even if that person is not aware of it. The usual check is Very Difficult, but if the target is dominated, the check is Difficult because of the limited range of the target's activities.
Discern Secret Message: The user may use Sense Motive to detect a hidden message transmitted by Acting. In this case the Check is opposed by the Acting check. For each piece of information relating to the message the user is missing takes a -10 penalty to the check. If the success is by 20 or less, the user knows that something hidden is being communicated, but cannot learn anything specific. If the check is beaten by 25 or more, the user intercepts and understands the message. If the check is failed by 20 or less, the user does not detect anything. If the fail is by 25 or more, they might infer false information.

s they walked down the road Gosei noticed something else. During the entire trip Tarah kept quite close to him too, walking one meter behind him like his shadow. Was she scared that the Yuki shinobi might do something to him? The woman looked practically harmless as she was collecting leaves with a childlike excitement. When he turned his head to listen to the Yuki shinobi he averted his eyes for a second to glance over Tarah. She seemed to be paying close attention to what happened in front of her. Vi was off somewhere else, staying near Suikou, the Amegakure shinobi. They were staying near the potential problem cases, right? No, Tarah knew that he could fend for himself. It would make more sense for her to stay near Akiko. Something else might be the case and Gosei had a vague idea of what that might be.

The blue haired women too seemed to prefer peace. The Godaime could not agree more, even an uneasy neutral relationship would be far preferable in comparison to the current situation. ”I prefer a duet to a dichotomy. Heat cannot exist without cold and vice versa. Like a song of ice and fire.” He noted with his usual quasi-deepness. ”Perhaps you can petition your Kage to mend the situation? Just because your Hachidaime felt offended doesn’t mean that all of us have to suffer for it.” A smile curled around his lips. ”Then perhaps we could see about that visit…” The prospect of sharing knowledge seemed to particularly excite this woman. Perhaps she was interested in other things too?

The woman noted something about her skills, one that seemed to be quite familiar to a set of skills Gosei too possessed. He had simply not utilized them yet to save chakra. There was no telling what awaited them. Why would she tell the rest something about her abilities? Everyone here seemed awfully silent about what they could do. Vi and Tarah were on his side specifically so he did not worry particularly about what they could do. Forgetting that she wore a radio Vi had however revealed a mastery over a strange language. That at least was something. Akiko had not revealed her affiliation so she would probably remain silent about her exact abilities too. Wet carrot would probably not say anything, but had already revealed the astonishing talent of predicting rain in the face of storm clouds. It was something that potentially could stand in the way of teamwork though. For now the Godaime was mainly hoping that if a problem he could not solve himself would pop up, that required a specific set of skills to solve, the person with that particular skill set would step up.

Nonetheless, there was nothing wrong with allowing some light to shine on what he could do, perhaps it would aspire others to do the same. He did not feel insecure about his strength any way. ”If it tires you I could take over for a while. We could switch every so often to save as much chakra as possible. Also, rain is no problem for me. A storm I can turn on my enemies. ” He proposed and stated whilst forming a completely unrelated set of handseals. It had been quite some time since he had cast his Genjutsu on Sir Pounce’a’lot so it would need refreshment, lest it would wear off too early, revealing the surprise. Since he was at the front with Nieve only she could see the seals the Kazeraikou formed in front of his stomach, the rest would be watching his back. Perhaps she even knew the jutsu, recognizing it and connecting the dots. Nevertheless, he would wink at her as he formed the seals to ease her mind a bit.

Changing his stride a bit he would tap the ground swiftly two times with his right foot between two steps. It was the signal he used for ‘come here’. Ten meters behind him the sensitive feet of the spider received the order, causing the creature to move forward silently, passing the group on the left side until he was next to its master. Pretending to slap away a flying insect of the nasty kind the Kazeraikou would secretly touch his pet, refreshing the jutsu. If successful the huge arachnid would remain invisible to all save for the caster of the jutsu itself. It was strange to be the only one who could see the monster following them. Realizing that he was further being ignored the creature would quickly fall back again to a position ten meters behind the group.

Description: The natural ability that many insects have to feel vibrations with their feet is very limited. Most insects can only feel very few vibrations and only in a very close range. As an insect exceeds the normal size of insects this way of sensing gets gradually less important. But through carefully practising this an insect is able to hone his sensing skills and gain a deep understanding of sensing vibrations. When learned, an insect is capable of sensing even the smallest of vibrations on the earth, like a very silent and soft footstep. The radius at which insects can sense these vibrations when learning this is four times the body length of the insect. If you is into a clan that deals with insects it is also possible to learn this, but you must be really experienced at using insect techniques in order to be attuned enough with your 'inner insect' before being able to do this. If you are a insect clan member the maximum range of this technique is twenty meters. Your feet must also have a direct connection to the surface you are standing on, aka, bare feet.

Had I acted irrationally in their company and somehow caused us to fail the mission, then surely they would be about me. What's more, I wasn't currently at a level to defy the will of the Amekage Mitsukai----

These were my thoughts before they had abruptly been halted by the crackling tongue of Vi. Her words had come so swift, that I didn't even manage to catch them; as soon as I had heard her voice, though, I had turned my head to see her move her mouth in a similar manner as I would while performing Katon... Just what was that?

"Oh dear!" exclaimed Vi when Nieve admitted to using sensory. "You shouldn't waste so much energy with that, I'm sure it will be of more use when we're at the excavation."

"I'd prefer it stay on," said Tarah. "Safety is a-"

Vi skipped over and shoved the back of Tarah's head. "Enough, lil' sis," she nagged, "There's no need to indulge your paranoia any further. Each person here is strong enough to defend themselves. Switch out with Tanni, will you? I much prefer her music."

Tarah huffed and stared menacingly at Vi, but complied. The young shinobi's eye color shifted from violet to indigo. Not the most obvious of changes, so a person needed to be extremely observant to catch the shift. "Don't say I didn't tell you so, when we get ambushed."

Tanni Orval, now in command of one of the Soul Split bodies, laced her fingers together and stretched them out above her head. Her mouth split into a grin as she looked around at the team members. While doing so, she lifted the mono-goggle that covered her left eye, so that it rested on her forehead instead.

"Tanni, join me for a round of spiritual refreshment?" Vi asked.

Tanni gave a quick nod. "Oh of course, of course. Ah, a traveling song for a weary group, isn't it? I don't remember how to play a guitar again, yet, but vocals are better for those in need of chakra, anyway. Oh, let's do Humbalee Dee!"

Generally ignoring whatever reaction the group had to one of their members suddenly changing personality, Tanni and Vi started to sing.

For the remainder of their travels, if nothing should disturb Vi and Tanni, each member of the group recovered a "D" rank amount of chakra every half a dozen seconds or so. Two songs being sung at once didn't augment the effects, but it needed to be done so that Vi and Tanni didn't lose any chakra, since a singer of the Song of Mana wasn't affected by their own song.

The blue haired kunoichi closed her Mind's Eye of the Kagura when one of the two Konoha kunoichi suggested she did so. She did not mind. It was true that it did drain a small sliver of chakra. She did not mind, indeed she would unleash her technique later when they would arrive upon the true location of their mission. Nieve's large eyes did notice the seemingly immaculate road, what fine work, and it had withstood the test of time, quite the feat. Her mind returned to what Gosei had said about their respective villages, and he had even mentioned Ace. The last time she had met the former Yukikage, it had been quite awkward, his heart had been incredibly heavy with desperate due to what had happened to his wife. And Nieve's lack of social empathy had made it simply...awkward. "It is not a woman of science's place to speak of politics with her Yukikage, but I could mention it indeed." Nieve admitted, the idea of getting to see another lab was quite enticing. Adjusting her hat to hide the seal it hid, she turned her attention toward Mikutashi who had been silent for a while now.

Nieve had been keeping track of the names that the two Konoha kunoichi girls had been using. Burning it into her mind with her eidetic memory. One of them, Tarah, seemed to be able to switch personalities? On was it on command? Who was this Tanni personality? Soon she broke into song and an odd feeling washed over the medic's body. Having perfect control of her spiritual energy, Nieve would instantly notice the change, the chakra she had used for her sensory abilities was slowly being replenished.

Her boots made gently knocking sounds as she stepped upon the smooth road, but those subtle sounds were drawn out by the lyrics. Not the classical music she enjoyed while she dissected bodies, it was still an interesting hymn.

"They are odd." Nieve told Gosei. She whispered those words beneath her breath. The scientist knew the irony as she was not really normal herself. The medic would look toward Akiko, wondering if the Kiri-nin enjoyed this enhancing song.

Surely they were getting closer to the excavation location?

Akiko walked along with the rest of the group, her body having grown adapted to the weight of her gear long ago. While walking, she kept a casual eye out in their surroundings for anything out of the ordinary, though without any training in the skill of observation, she likely wouldn't see much. She took in everyone's personalities from the idle chatter they had, while remaining mostly silent herself.

While they walked, Akiko heard the apparent twins start to sing a quite pleasing song. At first, Akiko didn't know either the tune nor the lyrics, so she decided to remain silent and just enjoy it. But then something unusual happened; a particular tingling spread over her body, one she normally associated with an improved metabolism and chakra regeneration. And that gave her an idea; though the song would normally be near useless on her, with a pool that had long since recovered the small bit she had spared on the air cubes, she would have no effect from the song. But if she were to find a way to split her pool into two seperate entities...

Slowly Akiko closed her eyes as she walked along with the others, turning her focus inward, toward her soul. Slowly, she began to twist and mold it, making it split into two separate hers. And as her soul split, so too did her existence. As she opened her eyes, she could be seen as two separate versions of herself coexisting in the same location, almost indistinguishable from one another, until one slowed their pace slightly, a mirage-like phantom that split from her, slowly gaining substance until the two were indistinguishable from one another.

Now two separate girls, albeit ones that had very similar cognitive processes, they each began to debate internally on what could be causing the chakra recovery. The only observable change in the group had been when the twins began to sing, and the tingling began shortly after that. Could it be a jutsu? Perhaps related to Bards. Hm...in that case, she should look into that jutsu herself once she got home; perhaps more of these bard techniques as well. Or perhaps later she could ask these twins; maybe once they finished their song. For the time being, though, the latter Akiko quickly performed some handseals, creating air cubes to match those retained by the former, at the cost of a small amount of chakra.

Perhaps once each Akiko had regenerated a sufficient amount of chakra, they each maintain their Tasukeru almost indefinitely.

Description: With a great show of will the user rips their soul in half effectively making a copy of themselves. The duration of this technique is 4 hours per class level. By performing this technique the user makes a full size copy of themselves. This copy is the user as much as the user is a copy of it. The user takes their chakra and splits it in half. This means that the user must now work with half of their energy, and half of the capabilities when dealing with Soulcaster techniques. The same can be said with the copy. At any time one of the copies can dismiss the other no matter what the range may be. If one is dismissed or if they are killed it does not bring back the chakra or energy, however the user will know. If one is killed the other copy is stunned for 1 round. If dismissed or killed any extra items they are carrying drops to the ground as the copy vanishes.

Fuuton: High Pressure Air Cube

Description: The user performs hand seals to make ten invisible high pressure air cubes in a five meter radius around the user. The technique can be activated unlimited times in a battle. The cubes are 1x1 meters and floats around the user’s body making him/her clothes, hair ect. move (looks cool). The cubes are always moving around the user and do not need constant chakra channeling to it, it’s one time technique. The cubes last until they are depleted by a technique or the user dispels them. The user can control the cubes in a twenty meter radius around them and can make a total of ten cubes when first learnt. Additional C rank training adds five meters to the control that can be trained up to forty five meters and adds ten cubes that can be trained up to one-hundred.

The party seemed to be having a good time, with their power increasing, chakra regenerating, and morale boosting. They were certainly growing into more of a unit than they were when they arrived at the university. Now, teamwork had begun, and the beginnings of a successful operation were surely, brewing, at the least the way the party saw it. But, it was hard not to see that Mother Nature's attitude concerning the expedition was not so cherry. Rain was imminent.

But, they arrived at the dig site just in time! The dig site was quite expansive, with multiple stone foundations marked out, and the pillars visible of a larger building in the distance. The architectural style would be undoubtedly Hi no Kuni to anybody well studied in that field.  The ruins was situated in an overgrown field in the midst of a forest, and no doubt years of agriculture prevented the area from becoming like its surroundings. A nearby canvas tent and canvas pavilion were no doubt the location which the team had used as a base of operations.

One could easily make out the basic outline of what the town used to be. There was a street where some stone houses were amassed, along with some larger public buildings. There were also obvious small stone foundations just visible to the outskirts, where the poorer folk lived. The town was never great enough to have any real walls, but somehow managed to have a large public buildings with decorated [doric] columns.

iving a slight opening, yet dismissing it at the same time, Nieve tried to explain her position in her village. Either she was underestimating herself or for some reason felt unable to discuss such things with the Yukikage. ”Do not feel deterred because it is not your place. I do not know why you specifically were appointed head of research, but I assume that it is because you are exceptionally good at what you do and that you know what is needed to make things better. If I am to hazard a guess your Kage appointed you because she specifically wants your opinion and advice. Take it from an old Hokage.” He said, sharing his wisdom with a smile. What was the use of accumulating experience over years if it was not shared anyway?

Meanwhile the two Konoha girls were on to something, which turned out to be… A song? Well, as long it kept them going. Gosei did not really care although Tarah suddenly seemed to switch names. What was the deal with the name shift? It was almost like a personality shift, the personality now surfacing being seemingly closer to Vi. It was peculiar to say the least. The song was not Gosei's usual style, but it was happy and cheery and that was enough to lift his mood a little more. And then this other sensation followed, as if his chakra increased. That feeling probably matched reality, completely recharging his reserves, though he had used very little so far. "Yeah... But then again, isn't every one of us in his or her own way?" he reflected in the same low volume with which Nieve had spoken.

Finally they had arrived. The Godaime's eyes took in the scene. The ruins standing there, having stood the test of time and next to it a pavilion and a tent. All of it seemed deserted. Very eerie. Where to start… Where to start… ”It looks deserted. Let us check the tent and the pavilion first. Maybe the research team left clues. I’ll arrange for a way to get a closer look at those ruins without exposing any of us to danger.” The Genmaster said to the others. ”I am knowledgeable in history and medicine, but I am not a man of research. Maybe you can shed some light on what they were doing here, Nieve?” he asked, making his way to the two temporary constructs.

As he strode forth the Kazeraikou would take a senbon from the bracelet on his left wrist and prick his left thumb to draw a few drops of blood. Surely he could have just bitten it, but that just seems so crude. Putting the long object back in its container the Medic would carefully remember its position for it would no longer be sterile. Forming handseals he would shortly tap the ground. From where he had touched Gaia a large black circular seal would spread out, before disappearing in an alabaster cloud. As the smoke would blow away on the wind the creature that Gosei had brought into this world would be revealed.

It was a serpent of unnatural colour, shape and proportions. Her back scales were green and her belly scales blue. Four meters long she was easily able to bring her head on the same level as that of her summoner. This was however not the most interesting feature, this snake was winged, possessing yellow feathers with a red tip and a similarly coloured fan at the end of her tail. All in all, this was a beautiful creature. ”Yesss, Gosssei? Need anything?” it asked in a surprisingly female hissing voice. It even talked. ”Hello Tenskwatawa. Yes, I need something done. Could you please fly over those ruins and take a good look? If you see anything out of the ordinary, let us know, we are looking for a research team.” The Couatl would merely nod and flap her wings, parting with the ground. Apparently Gosei’s request had been a normal one. Quickly rising up to a height of ten meters she would start to circle above the ruins, feasting her eyes on anything occurring below. She could however see beyond the ordinary, distinguishing heat too. This could prove to be a crucial factor in her scouting efforts.

Meanwhile Gosei turned back to the team. ”Let’s turn this place apart. Anything written is game, they must have kept records of their findings somewhere. See if their equipment is still here and try to make an assessment of what might be missing. Apart from that, anything out of the ordinary is interesting.”

Description: Before summoning can be performed, a prospective summoner must first sign a blood pact with family summon. After this they need only offer an additional donation of blood on the hand they signed the contract with, mold their chakra with hand seals and then plant the hand they signed the contract with at the location they wish to summon the creature. The amount of chakra used during the summoning determines how powerful the summoned creature can be. Depending on the rank depends on the Type of Summon the user is capable of summoning as well as the time it takes to summon.

Description: A snake has the ability to have thermal sense by flicking its tongue out. Snakes use this as a way of sight for most of the time. With Thermal sensing it’s able to "sense" or "see" the thermal body heat that emits off of the human or animal populace. Since Humans and animals well warm blooded animals emit a distinctive amount of heat it’s quite easily to tell where one is at. When a snake learns this technique they are able to sense or see any creature that is within sixty meters in front of them. The snake is not allowed to see anywhere else around them, so this means they can't sense behind him. However, the snake is indeed capable of "sensing" behind objects within this range. This technique was devised for snakes in order to help them hunt when wanting some good food.
Limit: Must have a Snake Companion.

Up ahead, the ruinous dig site came visible in an open clearing which Suikou noticed since he had been looking towards the darkening skies. When the site came into view further, he noted the tent that had been set up. The Snow kunoichi Nieve mentioned that she had been a sensor-type.. this reminded Suikou of the man he had killed within confinement inside of Amegakure's Crimson Prison. It seemed that several others possessed different traits as the twin that had been beside Suikou skipped up towards her opposite, who had seemed to have a sudden change in persona, to break out in unison with a song. What's more, the former Hokage showed his skill with a serpentine kuchiyose which piqued Suikou's interest. He had been attuned to reptiles with the snake being his favorite. The winged-snake would take off at its summoner's command to scout out the ruins; once the white-haired male addressed the group, Suikou moved towards the tent on Gosei's word. 

The Rain genin would approach the tent stoically, his hand resting on the hilt of his tanto had it been necessary to unsheathe it from its abode; his black eyes scanned the insides of the tent for a second or so as he pulled open its side. With what level of observation he possessed, he figured he could at least try to find something noteworthy within the tent while the others moved around various areas of the dig site.

The pair of girls stopped their musical performance as the group arrived in the ruins.

Vi pointed towards her left eye while she was facing her soul sister Tanni. "Use your eyepiece, find any metal of significance."

Once that order was given, Vi turned to the rest of the group. "I'll try a scouting technique, involves some meditation. If someone could watch my back, I'd really appreciate it."

Vi sat on the nearest natural rock that was big enough hold her up, then waved her arms around and closed her eyes. Once her arm motions stopped, a piece of her soul separated from her body, invisible to the naked eye. The invisible and intangible soul took Vi's shape and gave her vision.

Using the incorporeal soul scout, Vi silently explored the ruins. She checked every structure indicated by the man-made walls. Her main focus was to take advantage of being able to slip into objects in this form. In every building Vi entered, she peeked underground, to see if there were any hollow spots that led down.

Tanni listened to Vi's suggestion, and followed them immediately. She lowered the mono-goggle over her left eye, which was still on X-ray lens. Using those lens inspected the ruins for any metal.

The X-ray vision could also, as morbid as it is, spot skeletons. If the groups met a less fortunate fate that involved a shallow grave, then that could be revealed as well.

Nieve listened to Gosei's wise words about her place in the village. She bore no ill will toward the silver haired man, but she knew that within her village he was not very well liked, or at least he had quite the reputation. She nodded approvingly toward him, simply to let him know that she had taken into consideration his words. Perhaps she would talk to Pricilia about Gosei and Konohagakure no Sato, but for now she was simply not at ease with saying if she would do it or not. She had yet to see Gosei or the Konoha twins do anything. They finally arrived at the dig site and their senses would be assailed with that of the ruins. With their sight they saw the relics of the past, columns, red, yellow, white, beige bricks as far as the eye could see. Their smell cued them in to the dryness of the area and the lack of traditional life. They could even taste the dryness in the air.

When Gosei suggested that Nieve may know something about the ruins, she slowly scratched her head, trying to remember anything that could be helpful.

When the Hokage would use a Kuchiyose jutsu, from its following smoke was born a winged snake. Her eyes widened with interest. Now this was something she could sink her teeth, or a scalpel, into. Before she could approach it and fondle it though it had launched itself into the air, ready to collect as much data as was possible. Nieve definitely needed to get her own summons. Readjusting her lab coat, the head of research walked a few more steps, distancing herself to the group as she came toward a nearby column of stone. She gently inspected its surface, studying the stone.

All the while Nieve spread her Mind's Eye of the Kagura over the grounds. "I shall use my own sensory abilities as well." She let the group know. If everyone was going to help in the search, so would she. She closed her physical eyes for a moment to open her third one, the spiritual one.

Akiko 1 and Akiko A raised an eyebrow, noticing that no one seemed to notice that the seeming youngest member of their group had split in two, and without handseals. With asynchronous shrugging, the two blond girls turned to the twins, speaking in exchanged diolog, "Hey," "would you mind," "teaching us that stuff later?" "It seems useful," they finished, pulling their air cubes close around themselves. "We can handle," "Most of the searching."

The pair added, starting to walk away from one another getting about fifty meters away from one another before they began to channel chakra to their eyes, each activating their doujutsu in sync as they pulled their hoods up to hide their eyes from the side. Each clone began to walk in a circle around the formerly singing twins and the rest of the group, the wide circle maximizing their search range as a 50 meter range of absolute awareness spread from each. Granted, neither of them was particularly trained in observation, but there was a first time for anything.

Each of the two started to walk slowly, making sure to take in everything, every rock, every stone, every brick. With their eyes of omniscience, all encompassing awareness, the psudo-twins began to analyze the aged stone and mortar that made up the ruins in which they now walked. They began to analyze and search out the remains of the student activies, as well as the activities of those long gone.

The ruins had to be over a millennium old. The amount of decay left no other options. But where had they gone? And where had the expedition team gone? People don't just disappear . . . Akiko 1 had the tent they had used as their base within her sphere of awareness, so she began to focus in on said tent. In theory, the quickest clues to the whereabouts of the missing groups would likely be found there. If not written down somewhere, then perhaps stored digitally.

Tasukeru (Seeing Life)
Rank: C, B, A, S [10]
Skill: Doujutsu
Effect: Allows a full three hundred and sixty (360) degree field of vision and some predictability to physical attacks. Unlike Byakugan, the user sees life in its normal colors during this tech, no details spared. Signs of life, thermal readings and X Ray vision is near perfect. Can also read a determine the difference of a regular shinobi to that of one with a bloodline or if they house any foreign presence by the different chakra waves displayed when observed through Tasukeru. This does not mean one knows the BL right away. Must have encountered the BL before in order to know exactly who they are. The ‘C’ ranked version grants the user up to 50 meters of observing. Each new rank for the Jutsu will add 50 more meters. This can be trained multiple times after all the ranks are achieved in order to add 50 meters onto one’s total. Each extra training is worth an S ranked training.
Special: Although one is born with this jutsu, one must activate the eyes through training.
Drawback: Heavy chakra drain over time, especially when multiple phases of the Tasukeru are accessed. While Taijutsu can be predicted, the Onigami are not designed to have fast twitch muscles. As such, perfect blocking simply won’t happen all the time.
Description: Summoned through will, the scarlet eyes of the Onigami will grow a very vibrant neon red and all life becomes theirs to fully observe. Once activated, the user has a three hundred and sixty (360) degree field of vision, as well as the ability to see into other people’s bloods. For those allied to an Onigami, this jutsu is revered for making the Onigami known as the ultimate scouts.
Limit: Must be part of the Onigami BL.

All: Rain began to sprinkle, and no doubt would accelerate soon. The wind was blowing, and the town as it grew larger because of the shrinkage of distance looked very much the same. Nothing of note would become known, except that there were many string and flags setup about the dig site, with numbers on them. These most likely were to catalogue information and to make it easier for the team to discuss specific points of interest. As the team reached the pavilion, they would notice a few things which could potentially be clues.

On a table beneath the pavilion sat two notebooks. Also, there were a few excavation tools, shovels, spades, brushes, those kinds of things. There was also the core of an apple, gone to rot, with a flew flies swarming about it. The table was neat and tidy, with nothing of particular note other than those things.

The tent, would be not very surprising. A large tent, for the use of several people, would contain three cots, each with a bag used for sleeping and a pillow. At the foot of each bed was a footlocker, and on the far side of the tent they were storing a handful of artifacts. A small, silver crown sat on a cloth on a table. The silver was tarnished, but unmistakable in nature. It had the pattern of flames pressed around the edges, a popular symbolism among the ruling class of the Ancient Chakra Empire. There was also a scroll, which was neatly rolled, and looked as if it hadn't been unrolled by the team.

Solus:

The Dragon of Konoha's summon would fly above the ruins, and his view point would very much return the expected result; an aerial perspective. The beast would notice countless rings of stone which would be hard to see otherwise. He would also notice that the large building with the pillars would be ever so slightly warmer than mot. Perhaps, this was because of the way the sun hit it. Or perhaps not.

The ninjas careful observation would yield something interesting; a bulge in the blankets where one of the archaeologists had been sleeping was apparent to him. Whatever could be under that?

It would seem, after some pondering of her history, that this immortal did remember a town, or one close to here. A particularly fervent cult had arisen in this town, but she didn't remember that part. She was only ever aware of the fall of the cult, over 2,000 years ago. She remembered some kind of prophet dying, or something to similar to that. Nobody could remember anything that well, but definitely, a charismatic figure's untimely disappearance had lead to the downfall.

lowly rain would start to drizzle down as every person would start to scout the area in his or her own way. One of them had doubled herself, an interesting skill, but not interesting in any way, almost too uninteresting not to note. Cloning techniques were the bread and butter of many shinobi. There were more interesting things around. Stepping under the pavilion to keep himself out of the rain he would observe the objects gathered here. Mainly tools for excavations. And two notebooks. Now here was a clue. Opening them he would first read the last entries in both, before swiftly flipping through the books to get a more detailed view of what had been going on here, combining the knowledge of what was in these books with whatever he knew of Hi no Kuni.

It was strange. The tools were here but no living being, and then there was the rotten apple core. Strange, not even the animals had touched it. One would expect a bird or something to have eaten it. It however also indicated that it had been a while since people had been here. Once he had gotten a good view of what these books contained he would look around, discovering that Nieve had distanced herself from the group and was watching the stones of the ruins. Taking the notebooks the Godaime would make his way to her. "Here are some notebooks I found in the pavillion. I already read them, perhaps you get a different view of I on their contents." He would hold them out, waiting for her to alleviate his burden. "You shouldn't wander off. Something is wrong here, I feel that there is danger here."

At this point Tenskwatawa would return, landing on the soil near the Godaime. She would fold her wings on her back and raise her head to Gosei's level. "Nothing to ssseee. There are many ringsss of ssstone, but I do not know there purpossse. Sssstrangely enough that large building is warmer than the ressst by a tiny bit." That was odd indeed. One would expect everything on the south side to be a bit warmer than the rest, but one building should not be warmer than the rest until there was a source of heat other than the sun. "That is not correct, go check inside." It was an old tactic called 'scry and die'. Should Tenskwatawa survive they would know that that place was safe. If the link holding her in this plane was broken violently they would have localized a threat.

Once again the winged serpent would nod, flapping her wings to achieve lift off. Flying just two meters above the buildings she would make her way to the columned structure. Upon reaching the large warmer building she would fly inside if the entrance was large enough to accommodate such an act, if not she would fold her wings and slither inside.

From a distance Gosei would observe the proceedings. Tenskwatawa had armoured scales and knew several techniques to preserve herself so unless the enemy was exceptionally strong she could potentially survive. Still, this would be interesting to say the least. The large public building was different from the rest. The Godaime's first guess would be that it had been a temple of some sort. He was not sure though, drawing on his knowledge of Hi no Kuni history he would try to look for clues that would reveal the purpose of this specific building and the purpose of the other buildings that were not clearly houses.

Drawback: Depending on the Rank the snake learns this technique depends how strong the scales of the Snake becomes. The snake must be a huge snake for this technique to work because of the size of the snake. Since the blood pushes to the scales, once it is pierced the snake bleeds faster than normal.
Description: The snake pushes his blood to the scales of the snake's skin. The skin begins to harden as the snake's skin becomes something like that of dragon scales. When the snake learns the "C" Rank it is capable of enduring a number of two "D" Ranks of Jutsu. When the snake learns "B" Rank it is capable of enduring two "C" Ranks of Jutsu before it feels the full effect. When the snake learns the "A" Rank it is capable of enduring two "B" Ranks of Jutsu before it feels the full effect. When the snake learns the "S" Rank it is capable of enduring two "A" Ranks of Jutsu before it feels the full effect.
