Ring Tail Woe: Keypoint 4 - Gazebo

On the far south end, a little over half a kilometer up the Mountain of Blessing, there was...

A gazebo. Green from being made entirely out of what looked like jade.

This gazebo was about thirty meters in diameter, unusually large.

Six three-meter thick pillars held up a hexagonal pyramid roof.

At the very center of the gazebo, there was a low bronzewood table. The table was low and square, with meter-long sides at its perimeter. Seating pillows surrounded the table at all sides. Upon the center of the table, there was a jade teapot.

Steam rose out of the teapot's spout, even though there was no fire to be seen underneath the pot.

At the edge of the table, four teacups were laid upon silky white fabrics.

The Kusanin walked up the trail that lead to the southern keypoint steadily as the numerous grenades in his olive garb tactical vest clanged against one another. He had chosen to bring his gas mask and e-filters with him just in case this keypoint held a fog similar to the one at the previous cavern. As he approached a clearing, the massive structure of a green gazebo came into view; upon further inspection, he had realized that it was made of jade stone.. light shimmered off of it in various places where the orb in the sky shone through. The Seitetsu teenager stepped up underneath the ceiling and for a second pondered about the placement of the sitting mats, table and its contents.

Could someone be heating the contents of the jade teapot with the Netou jutsu? he wondered, thinking back to a previous Suiton technique he had learned under his Red Leg sensei. Examining the table further, he saw four teacups. Tetsune thought about creating four clones of himself which would allow him to interact with the entire layout of the jade gazebo, yet he waited to see if any voice would call out with a riddle like it did in the previous area.

Kura jogged along the path leading to the gazebo, making sure his goggles were still existent upon his head. He didn't care to keep track of the rest of his equipment save his several kunai and slot of shuriken. He would go back some other time and find all the stuff that would inexplicably no longer be on his person.

Sooner or later, Kura would come across a humongous gazebo that was made of some kind of green metal, or so it seemed. Upon reaching it, he noticed that there was a teaset upon a table which looked a little suspicious.

I wonder what kind of challenge I'll face here, he would think to himself as he ventured forwards. His static awareness would have alerted him to the positioning of the other shinobi, and Kura would have not made any efforts to conceal his own presence.

Skill: Ninjutsu

Effect: Allows a member of the Kyoudo blood limit to manipulate and control electrostatic charges even out of their range of sight, in their personal static field.

Special: -

Drawback: One can only use this ability if it is in the range of their own electrostatic field. Only useful if one has trained Kyori Keiko a number of times. All manipulation of sensed objects is still, of course, limited by the other Kyoudo techniques.

Description: Normally one can only use their Sutatikku Nagare ability on objects they can see. However with much training and experience eventually a member of the Kyoudo become so attuned with their static field that they can 'feel' objects around them. All objects in nature carry an electrical charge even if it's at zero. An experienced Kyoudo can sense such things and manipulate them as long as it is within their own static field. This grants the user the ability of complete static awareness in their field. This is directly correlated to the amount of times one has learned Kyori Keiko (Distance Training).

Limit: Sutatikku Nagare (Static Current) ability, 500 tp in the Kyoudo clan. Once you have 500 TP of Kyoudo jutsus, this is automatically "learned".

The air before the table began to shimmer. Though the gazebo was cool and pleasant, the air quivered in a way one expected from intense heat.

Green flames flickered into life, manifesting from the atmospheric convulsions with a soundless burst. The fire shaped itself into the figure of a tall man, well over seven feet in height.

As the blaze dimmed, and the last few flares faded off into smoke, a massive man towered over the tea table.

His skin was a dull brown, like a freshly dried surface of mud. The clothes he wore were woven from a feathery fabric, as glossy and green as blades of grass.

The man's hair was extravagantly long. It stretched all the way to his knees. The entire mass was braided into thick robes, each as thick as a grown man's fists.

Somehow, the man was able to bend down low enough to sit at one side of the table.

"Hello gentlemen," he said, "will you join me for a drink?"

Lifting his hand to dampen the glow of bright lights from the virid flame, Tetsune figured that this was the start of this puzzle. Before him and his Lemurian comrade rose a tall figure of fire; in time, it came to be a clay-colored man with long knotted hair. Peering through steel eyes, Genpaku noted how regal his clothing had been.

"Aye," Gen replied, walking towards the seat closest to the man. He hadn't been offered a drink since traveling from Magoichi.

The tall man smiled faintly, then gestured his right hand towards the teapot. The pot rose up into the air, then floated over to Genpaku's cup and began to pour. A steaming hazel liquid flowed out from the spout. The tea had a spell reminiscent of freshly chopped wood.

Once done with Genpaku's cup, the teapot drifted to the man. When it reached him, he grabbed its handle out from the air and poured himself a drink.

The teapot was released. It flew back into its place in the center, and set itself down.

"I seem to have many titles, but you may call me Rine," said the massive man. "What do they call you?"

As the teapot rose in the air, Genpaku stared at it briefly, not necessarily inclined to be afraid up to this point. He figured this man possessed an affinity for the Wind Element, which helped him manage to pour the bronze contents out into the teacup. Once the liquid hit the porcelain mug, an earthy smell wafted up into the Seitetsu teenager's nostrils, indicating to him that this tea was an herbal blend.. or perhaps it could've been poison. This second questioning thought would be put to ease as the man known as Rine poured himself a shot of tea.

"I am called Tetsune," the youth replied, looking at the massive man as his tea continued to relinquish bouts of steam from being so hot. Given this man's look and the general atmosphere of this thing, Genpaku guessed this man may have known the elder of Lemur, but he decided against asking him. Instead, Gen pressed further, trying to leak the contents of this keypoint.

"Rine-san.. what exactly is my objective here? Are we to play some sort of game..?" Glancing down at his hazel brew momentarily, Gen's steel-blue eyes returned to match the man's gaze. He wouldn't take a sip of the tea until Rine did so himself, still speculative of the qualities of this unknown brew.

"Game?" Rine drank a sip of tea before he went on. "I suppose it could be called such a thing, though it's not so much for the sake of entertainment."

The large man reached up and swept his hand through the air. As he did so, his fingers appeared to bump off something. For a fraction of a second, translucent green strings appeared where Rine moved his hand through. They returned to being invisible immediately afterwards.

"My power can only enrich a single one of my features, and I don't care what feature it goes to." said Rine, "However, it must be done, for the power must be released. It tends to be much simpler to decide by an even chance, a bit of luck, but people are not willing to accept such a result. If I left it to the world's fortune, then the people come regardless. They come to plead or bride in their favor. When the result does not fall their way, their blame points to me. If you make the goal something that must be earned, then that anger is shifted elsewhere. In luck, there is no clear entity to blame. In competition, rage falls from the defeated to the victors, and from the defeated to their own failures."

The top of the table glimmered, then shifted into a moving image of some sort.

A gigantic construct of some type of wood was presented by the table's image.

Barely, Genpaku noticed the sliver of green light waver above the table as Rine fingered the air before him; the Kusa Genin's eyes turned into a questioning leer, wondering what the hell the man had just done. When the elder continued his spiel, Gen thought that this man may have been the true benefactor of this realm---that is, that he was the scale between Lemur and Pearl... perhaps it is he that creates the keypoints, the Seitetsu youth thought. He couldn't really decipher the meaning to Rine's words at this point, and just decided to take a sip of his tea and give a nod as if though he understood.

As the liquid cascaded down his esophagus, Genpaku nearly choked. Before him the table glistened and transfigured into a moving structure: there before he and elder Rine was a wooden creation moving within the glass of the translucent jade table.

".. is this the unworldly creature that lives within the mountain, Rine-san?"

ooc: Alright guys, gonna make a bit of a ruling.

I'm busy, too busy lately to focus on everything I want to focus on. This event was fun to plan, but much more difficult to execute.

So, in the interest of letting you guys go free, I'm going to declare this event over.

It was essentially a ring of mini-events, and you guys are more than three-quarters of the way through it, so I think it's been enough.

Queen Pearl attendants, I'm offering the reward of 101,442 ryo cash and an event credit.

King Lemur attendants, I'm offering the reward of an event credit, plus 39,233 Ryo and 1 random 'Rare' or 'Very Rare' herb to be determined by a dice roll.

If these terms are acceptable to all parties, I will execute the conclusion of the event.

Genpaku, after weeks of meditation within the realm of Rine, mountain elder of Oto no Kuni, he returned to the abode of Lord Lemur. Unfortunately the task had been failed, falling moreso in hand to the Queen of Nodra. He had still be rewarded for his long-endured endeavor--a nice amount of ryo, and an herb. Finally, he could return to Magoichi-san; he could return to Kusagakure no Sato.

"Fuck yeaaa!!!! Time to eat," he commented, headed back towards the area in which his Red Leg sensei had waited for him.
