What would one expect to see in a tavern somewhere in the woods? Crazy people? People desperate need of alcohol that are willing to go down to the middle of nowhere just to have a drink? Well, your suspicions couldn't be any wronger, especially if they spoke about the tavern in the forests of th land of fire. Inside that tavern exists something one does not see in every beverage selling institution. There is a community. A system and laws that have to be obeyed. One does not simply break the rules as they know that they will be punished for doing so and their punishment would be their returning to their misery, loneliness, suffering.

The tavern part of the building isn't all that big, actually as it is only a sixth of the whole building and only one of the rooms. The building has three levels. The first level is the tavern level and the kitchen as well as the owners' apartment. The second level of the building has three bathrooms and six apartments, each of which has its own toilet. Most of the rooms on the second level are occupied by the daily visitors of the tavern that are more like homeless people who found shelter in the institution known as the tavern. Men and women live in equality under the same roof, under the same rules and are give the opportunity to not only survive but contribute to the institution by running errands for it, living there, helping others and to have fun.

The tavern has one more level and that level is most often empty. It is the same as the previous one with three bathrooms and six apartments, each with a toilet of its own, however, the reason why these rooms are empty is because they are for visitors of the tavern. People that are dropping by. People that are searching for a place to spend the night. People, villageless, homeless the fate of who, merciless.

Upon taking a quest one would also be given the chance to rest in one of the tavern's apartments for a certain amount of time. During their stay there, they will also be treated by the tavern's owners with special meals, depending on the difficulty of the quest they have taken. The higher the difficulty, the more time they get to spend in the tavern's hospitality and the tastier their meals become as a one-star meal is a nicely cooked steak, fast food of some sort, sandwiches and such and a five-star meal can be a delicious lobster, other types of expensive sea food, food  that can be served in the fanciest of restaurants can also be served in the tavern as the owner used to be a respected and experienced cook back in his age.

As one would enter the tavern, they would see a large board on the wall to the left - a board taking up the entire wall. On that board, there are papers of different colors, each color representing a difficulty class for a quest. Green sheets of paper represent "D" class quests. These are the easiest to take and are normally taken by people who just want to spend a single night in the tavern. Green-Yellow sheets of paper represent "C" class quests. These are somewhat harder than the "D" class requests but are still not as hard as the rest. Yellow sheets of paper represent "B" class quests. These are harder than the previous two types and can also prove to be quite dangerous. Orange sheets of paper represent "A" class quests. These are truly dangerous and thus, a whole month of hospitality is offered to these who take the quests. Red sheets of paper represent "S" class quests. These are dangerous. Very, very dangerous. Half an year of hospitality is offered to these who take these insanely difficult quests.

Rose opened the front door of the forest tavern and looked around to see who was there. Familiar faces - that's all she saw and that was something natural because she has been to that forest tavern a lot of times. Both her and her friend Kao have visited the tavern many times and have accomplished a lot of favors for the owners, however, were still treated like regular clients of the tavern. They did not complete the tasks for shelter though - no. They completed them for home food and money, money which they both needed.

"Good day everybody!" The girl greeted the group with a cheerful tone and received greetings from a number of souls as well. She was well known as she helped out almost daily with dishes, cleaning and with taking care of injured guests of the tavern - guests that were accepted there and only there as they were outlaws. After exchanging greetings with the clients, Rose focused her attention to the quest board. She was looking for something simple to do - something from the green section or the yellow-green. After a couple of moments of searching, Rose found the perfect quest for her as it would prove to be both interesting and challenging, as well as rewarding.

Objective: Kill the creature and convince  the owner of the house that he can sleep safely at night by showing him the creature's dead body. After doing so, dispose of the body and collect your payment from the forest tavern. 
Description:  A number of nights ago, a shocked individual came to the forest tavern and asked for help repeatedly. All he repeated was "It Came From the Woods" & after he calmed down a little, he got questioned about details about what he wanted to be helped with. He explained that a couple of nights ago, a humanoid-like creature crawled to his house's door. At first, surprised, the man opened the front door to see what was going on but later on regretted that decision of his. The creature was undead with a fatal-looking hole inside its head and it appeared to be quite hostile. After hours of struggles, the house owner managed to trap the creature inside the closet and it is still there. The adrenaline rush disappeared though and the brave house owner is brave no more and fears to open the closet and get rid of the creature, thus, wants the assistance of someone brave enough to do so.
Reward: 8,500 Ryo[/ul]

Rose knew what the procedure behind taking a quest was. She took the paper off the board and went to the bar. "I will be taking this now." The woman behind the bar quickly ran her eyes through the paper, stamped it approved and reminded Rose to take a good care of herself while on the mission. After that, Rose would proceed and would take her exit from the tavern.

It had been well over six years since Rose was last had incentive to visit the forest tavern; after all, doing so proved too much mental strain for her, especially since it was a place she mostly related to her late mentor, Kao and her desire to help the common folk despite no longer having the rank of a shinobi. It wouldn't be but a blatant lie to say that Rose was interested in anything of the sort at all - she cared to do good only when it'd fit her agenda & her existence would be fulfilling enough by simply not doing 'any harm', albeit, what drove her to the tavern that day were the rumors - rumors that could help guide her down her path of vengeance and finally, finally give her the clarification she needed after that day. That day of the forest festival that took her mentor away from here, as well as so many others in attendance.

Rose entered through the tavern with a letter in hand - one she had received at her house's front door. She knew that with that letter, she could skip finding her quest on the event board and headed straight for the tavern's reception. The receptionist barely recognized her; after all, it had been years since she last visited and she had absolutely changed since. For one, the life-seeking fire in her eyes had vanished, leaving her with a cold, indifferent stare. Her hair had grown far longer as well, now all the way below her waist as had her apparent age, partially due to the utilization of bright red lipstick and charcoal-black mascara. Rose didn't carry any particular equipment with herself - she didn't need to. Her custom black butt bag was on her persona but was nearly empty, containing only four grenades: fragmentation and smoke ones; two of each type. Her belt had her short sword attached to it in the off chance she needed it to clear path through branches and whatnot.

"Please do explain the details of the task," she requested in a monotonous voice. The receptionist nodded and proceeded to tell her about the mission and what was to further occur.

"You are to travel to the land of grass," she began her explanation. "We received a report from the fellow grass tavern that there is an outburst of undeath all across the countryside. A request to the hidden villages had proven to be of no avail as they either cannot afford the manpower or simply don't want to tie their hands in the matter. Suspicions that it is the latest drives the tavern's folk to the belief that they have something to do with the matter, however, that is just rumored. This outbreak is very close to similarity than the one... that day as well as the events preceding it." Rose nodded. Not much more needed to be said past the point that the two events were even remotely connected by any and all similarities.

"In any case," the receptionist offered her closing remarks, "your first official task is to travel to the land of grass's forest tavern and proceed taking further orders from there. Your travelling expenses as well as your time's worth will be paid to you there upon arrival." Rose nodded and took the slip of paper the receptionist was handling her which would be her evidence she was sent on the job.

Description: An outbreak of undeath had been occurring through the widths of the land of grass; one eerily similar to the one six years ago in the land of fire, albeit, in a much larger apparent scale. The tavern of grass has required the assistance of any and all free and capable combatants to at least attempt to investigate or at best, stop the spread.
Reward: 7,500 Ryo[/ul]

After accepting the mission, Rose headed outside of the tavern to begin her travels towards the land of grass.
