Special: To perform: 2 hours; Duration: 2 Months

The Y'la will perform this Ritual in a deep meditation as being part of the User. For these peaceful 2 hours, the Aura of Misfortune will not work with the user. The Y'la uses the user's and its own chakra and other materials when performing this Ritual as the Maledictions are created off of the stored Chakra. Before learning the Y'la will mischievously remove 23,000 Ryo from the user whenever the user has that amount of money as a Market Price. The Y'la will then perform this Ritual on its own as part of the User while 17,000 Ryo will disappear from the user as a weird force of nature or forgetfulness. Every 2 months the Y'la will always perform this Ritual in order to allow the user access to the power of Maledictions. The user has no say in this. Character Depth
Personality:
In His Own World:
Rai is a very curious person by nature and this shows up in his social skills. He prefers to listen and ask questions about the other party rather than talk about himself. He does not have much to offer in terms of conversation unless the topic turns into a more philosophical side of things. At the minimum, this allows him to not be too awkward at a social setting since he can usually keep the other side talking. He likes to point out interesting things that he notes, sometimes more to himself than to others. As a result of being around spirits for so long, people no longer can tell whether he's talking to the souls of the world beyond or to himself.
An Old Soul:
He enjoys quiet time and is not much for living with a bang. He appreciates routine and the same things, with the exception of his work. As a result of being a listener and many interactions, he's become known for giving good advice and being a mirror for people to reflect on themselves. He does not like to show up at parties, weddings and the like, preferring a good old one on one at a café or at a quiet bar. He favors evening strolls and just gazing at the stars, just appreciating the feeling of being alive.
A Free and Mischievous Spirit:
Rai values freedom highly and dislikes anyone who is overly strict without reason. He's not too big a fan of the law and believes most people who create them are only abusing their power. He likes running on his own schedule and being the boss of his own life. He does not like others imposing on him nor does he desire to impose on others. One interesting aspect of him is that he does like to scare others. Talk of haunting spirits and curses serve as entertainment for him and he will do this often.
All Things in Moderation:
Rai hates extremes. This is in regards to everything, from his tastes to his beliefs. He is very particular about this during conflicts. He believes that very few things in this world are truly evil and that people (both dead and living) are simply acting out of their own beliefs or necessity. He particularly is distasteful of people who live according to a world that's black and white to them. Are all living people good? Are all spirits who linger in this world evil? He prefers working out a compromise and has gotten fairly proficient at the art of negotiation.
Lionheart:
As a result of his past, he tends to not get too close to others due to his peculiarities. In addition, he does not particularly care about what others think about him or his beliefs. If he has to work in a team, he will do so without getting into an argument. His default side is to be indifferent to others. Verbal attacks are not a big deal but to those who dare harm him or take advantage of the weak (living or not), he throws down his own hammer of justice. However to those that show him kindness and trust, he reciprocates happily and appreciates them all the more. He is fiercely loyal to those who are loyal to him.
Gratitude is a Virtue:
Having never lived a luxurious, he is very appreciative of a lot of things. Having gone through a harsh past, he appreciates being able to live the way he does now. As a result, he is also very cheap and while he doesn't compromise his beliefs for money, he certainly does whatever he can to meet his financial needs. One of the times he comes out of his indifferent bubble is when he sincerely and wholeheartedly thanks someone.
Appearance:
Rai is a fairly tall and light skinned man who pulls off the slightly disheveled yet professional look quite well. His jet black hair is a longer compared to most guys, the front covering most of his forehead and the back coming down towards his back. His ears are sometimes visible depending on his mood and how neat he's feeling at the moment. His black/hazel eyes are sharper and wider than most people. A distinctive feature of his eyes is that they usually make others think he is looking down on them though he has been working on this. His nose and mouth are well defined but thin.
He has a lean body that's toned through running around a lot and some fitness aside from normal training but he gives off a more tall and gangly feel to others when he wears clothes. He has slender fingers, as if they belonged to a lifelong pianist. He does not have much body hair and keeps his hygiene well looked after. Regarding any products that he uses, he does use hair product once in awhile, usually to impress clients. When he slicks his hair back, he gives off a very sharp and professional vibe.
If anyone were to ask if he had any distinctive marks about him, people would not be able to answer. However that does not mean he does not have them. He has a scar in the shape of a strange design over his heart, which is usually kept very well covered up. He also has a pair of black full frame glasses that he wears to make him more professional. The lens are in the glasses but they do not alter his vision in any way. He pushes them up often and people have noted this habit, usually when he's having an "a-ha" moment.
Regarding his clothes, it depends on what he is doing. During his detective and every day work, he usually wears a black striped shirt and tan khakis, very strange wear in the desert land of Suna. He is usually wearing his glasses, which also turn into sunglasses when he's outside. His shoes look like boat shoes from the top but the insoles and the bottom are designed running and extra grip. For the sake of marketing, he likes wearing these out of place shoes.
During shinobi missions, he changes his apparel completely. On his inner layer he wears a very dark blue pants and sleeveless undershirt with a slim light charcoal colored tactical vest on top. The arm gloves that he wears are of the same color. Footwear consists of standard combat issued boots. He usually wears the standard Suna cloak over this outfit. The only distinction in this outfit is the mask that he wears to keep his two identities separate.
Background:
A Ravaged Beginning:
An only child to two wanderers of the Uchiha clan, he remembers very few memories of his parents. However they all happened to be warm ones before the Ravage occurred. A small scale event in the midst of global affairs but it seemed like the world was ending to him. In a normal village that the family of three had settled into, a rift opened in the foundation of earth the village was set in. An Underworld portal had opened temporarily. As it was a rare and temporary phenomena, the otherworldly beings who desired freedom burst out in surging waves. A blazing village was all that was left. The Uchiha managed to defend themselves well enough but as they were fleeing, they were ambushed from behind.
Amidst the dying embers of his home, a very young Raizen laid beneath his parents' bodies, a last act of protection that had hid him well enough among the confusion. A tall and well dressed middle aged man with red eyes and rather sharp features unearthed him from the ruins. That was the first time he met Navarre. When he woke up, he found that his parents had been buried. Crushed and withdrawn into his own world, he let Navarre lead him. As they traveled, Navarre confessed that he was not human either yet he was of the kind who was very amiable to humans. Naturally Raizen was unconvinced. Soon enough, they ran into a cohort of demons, the same ones who had destroyed Raizen's village.
Childhood Haven:
That was the moment Raizen decided to start trusting Navarre. For even as the band of demons ridiculed Navarre, the man stood by his beliefs. When they wanted Raizen and started to get physical, Navarre, a powerful vampire and a pureblooded High Daylight Walker at that, obliterated them. Raizen was shocked at the pure display of power, as shocked as a child just barely having self-awareness could be. Yet he started trusting Navarre and speaking to him from that moment on.
They soon came about a large and bustling urban town and settled down there. Navarre was interested in simply learning about the humans' way of life. He raised Raizen and while he was never called father, their relationship was like that of father and son. Growing up, Raizen was a rather strong willed child and that only grew as he went into his teen years. Then, he was confronted with the truth, that he was a cursed child. Navarre had seen the spirit that haunted him and he decided that it was too pitiful for such a young child to live a life of misery. So he had used a great deal of power to lessen the spirit's effect for childhood at least. This left him weakened compared when he had entered the human world.
Blood Meeting:
Very soon after, news came around that a bloodthirsty killer who drained his victims of blood was going around. Raizen knew it couldn't be Navarre since he had long outgrew the need for blood. So that meant there was another one of his kind in town. Navarre was especially worried since he had wanted a quiet life for Raizen so he had taught him nothing. Not to mention demon magic wasn't exactly suited to humans. Navarre forbid Raizen from going out as he went to do his own investigating. Being the curious kid that he was, Raizen sneaked out and followed his guardian through the town he knew so well.
Upon the two vampires meeting, a third party had come as well. A group of highly skilled Venators. They had received word of a demonic being and rushed over. A three way battle ensued. Luckily they were in an abandoned area as buildings were destroyed throughout the battle. However, Raizen got caught in the middle of it and debris had disabled his movement. Noticing this, Navarre rescued him but paid a lethal price at the hands of a Venator who had not noticed the human child. Only a few last words were spoken before Navarre's eyes would never open again and Raizen cried out in despair. The human child had shocked the Venators, which the killer vampire took advantage of and kidnapped Raizen.
As the chase began, Raizen was very numb for most of it. At the end however, when it seemed that the Venators had the vampire cornered, the demon reviewed its trump card. It had a hidden getaway ready and it took Raizen with it back to the Underworld. A clash of intense energies occurred just as they hit the wormhole and the vampire released its hold on the child's body. Raizen's soul however, was taken into the Underworld. Regretting their actions at involving a human child and at their incompetence at letting him get away, the Venators resolved to preserve the boy's body and took him to a nearby temple. Once they had explained what had happened, the clansmen of the temple understood. Thus they left to pursue the boy's soul.
The Way of the Dead:
In the dimensional rift, the vampire had loosen its grip on Raizen's soul due to the damage it had received and let him go. Once he was conscious of himself, he found that he could finally see what was haunting him this whole time, his Y'la. Yet he didn't know where or what he was. Passing through the space time rift, he arrived in the Realm of the Dead. After wandering around for a long time and learning about the different inhabitants of this realm, he found himself arrested by a Keeper, a shepherd of souls. Yet the Keeper was puzzled that his soul seemed…so alive. He tested the young boy. While he had not tapped into the battle potential that his Uchiha blood gave him, he certainly had the intellectual genius of one. That and his miserable past had given the Keeper enough to send him back to the world of the living.
In the span of time that had passed in the Otherworld, it would have equaled about 10 Earth years. Yet when he came back into his own body, only a year had passed. Finally waking up to a weakened body, he surprised the Temujin sect of the Dhenada clan, his caretakers. Taking a few months to nurse him back and rehabilitate him, they trained him in the use of Chakra, as combining his physical and mental energies would certainly help his health. As a result, they trained him in their techniques. After the Venators came by and apologized for their mistake, Raizen decided on what he wanted to do from now on. To prevent any more tragedies between this world and the next.
Current Times:
Moving from location to location, he would start to make a little name of himself. Spirit Detective. Death Glasses. The Exorcist in Glasses. That's what the living would call him. Nightwalker. Diplomat. Those were what he was known as among the dead. On one request that he found with rather enormous difficulty, he had partnered up with shinobi from Sunagakure. Admiring their prowess at battle and their normalcy with someone as strange as him, he did not turn down their request of joining their village. They too had found him very useful.
As such, he joined Sunagakure and graduated at top speed, his ninja blood finally coming into use. On the side, he still runs a Spirit Detective Agency outside of his ninja work but luckily, he has found a way to make the two lives balance.
