name: Junichi "jun" Koide bloodlimit: Kaishin height: Five feet, eight inches weight: one hundred forty-five pounds age: twenty-one gender: male alignment: neutral good birth country: mizu no kuni village: sand specialties Ninjutsu SpecialistAppearance Counting himself lucky, Jun isn’t quite as feminine as males regularly are within his bloodline. The young man isn’t overly masculine either, but he at least he’s more on the handsome side. His features as well defined, if a bit on the soft side. If anything, it makes him look a bit cute, depending on one’s preference. His muscles are very well toned and are quite defined as well, but he’s not all that muscular. He does endurance and speed training more than brute strength, which has kept his form from growing too large. A tinsy bit on the short side, he falls just a couple inches short of six feet. When he doesn’t have himself partially disguised (which is rare), probably the most eye-catching characteristics are his ears and tail. Instead of normal human ears a pair of black, furry, and pointed ears sit atop his head. They’re clearly cat-like as well as large, about two and a half inches at its widest and the pointed tips sticking three inches out when the ears are at full attention. They also tend to twitch towards unexpected sounds, unless he’s concentrating on keeping them still. They’re not entirely black either, as he has tufts of white fur along the inner base. The thin tail he has is also very much cat-like, a soft and short black fur coating it. Despite not needing it to keep his balance, if he’s not paying any mind to the extra appendage it sways idly behind him to do just that. He actually ties it loosely around one of his legs when he’s hiding it, not tight enough to be painful yet enough to keep it from pressing against the insides of his pants when he wants it to remain hidden. It’s two and a half feet long, with about the same flexibility as a normal cat’s tail. One more thing that’s not entirely human about him are his fingernails, which are more like small claws. They look like normal fingers for the most part, besides the nails being thicker and sharper than that of a normal human’s. While Jun doesn’t want to revert his augments to looking like a normal human again, he does go through the effort of at least hiding his ears and tail. His usual outfit achieves this quite effectively, the Kaishin normally wearing a white hat that’s a bit poofy so his ears don’t get cramped up against it. A thick, blue trim lines the hat, long enough to cover up where human ears would normally sit. He also has hair pins along the inside of that blue trim, to keep it more securely atop his head and his ears hidden. Normally he wears a blue scarf as well, which is useful in case a dust storm picks up so he can cover his mouth and keep from inhaling the small particles, the strip of cloth accented with some yellow stripes near the ends and at the center- four spaced about an inch apart and an inch wide. Over his shoulders he wears a type of modified shawl, white in color. It reaches from the base of his neck to just over his shoulders, sitting beneath his scarf. Then layered beneath that is a pale blue tank-top that has a white trim, but it’s short enough to only reach about an inch below his pectorals. His midriff as well as arms are left bare, showing off the muscles there quite well. It’s not uncommon for him to wear a bronze band around his right bicep, decorated in intricate designs. He wears a white sash around his waist, which conceals a utility belt at times. His pants appear to be a dusted shade of purple with a blue hem at the waist, as well as on the baggy side. His shoes are blue and have a bronze-shaded trim, but don’t actually have any of the metal embedded. [reference image] Personality On the outside Junichi appears to be calm and collected, certainly on the reserved side and doesn’t really speak a lot before strangers. While he’d insist that he isn’t shy with every fiber of his being, he’d also be completely lying. So used to only being around one other person for the majority of his life, he doesn’t have a whole lot of social skills. Even when they were selling things in cities, he hadn’t been the one dealing with customers most of the time. What he falls back on is simply not talking much, since there are a lot of situations that he simply doesn’t know how to deal with.Underneath his indifferent front, he’s actually quite self-conscious and so easily falls into a defensive mode whenever he’s offended. Jun’s quite easily offended as well, the young man quite sensitive and not a huge fan of criticism. He’s a perfectionist as well, sometimes beating himself up over his mistakes more than anyone else ever could. It generally leads to his training sessions being drawn out and extremely frustrating at times, as he generally doesn’t stop until he thinks that he’s completely mastered whatever it is that he’s trying to do. A part of being as defensive as he is, Junichi also has quite the temper. If the right strings are pulled it’s set off extremely easily, such as teasing him for his faults, mistakes, or his ears and tail. It doesn’t take a whole lot for him to resort to violence either, but at least he doesn’t get too bad if the one annoying him is an ally. Usually it’s just a swift punch or kick, having to be severely pissed off to bring any weapons into the fray. Jun’s also more apt to be angry with a friend rather than a stranger, caring far more about what someone he knows says versus someone he doesn’t. While it’s not all that common for him to get close to someone, when he does he becomes very protective of them. At times he’s incredibly affectionate as well, but only when he’s alone with the other person. If they’re in public, he generally keeps a good distance and is actually too embarrassed to show a softer side of himself before any sort of audience. And if someone so much as tries to hug him in public, he’ll push away- about all that he’ll put up with being a pat on the shoulder. Though the less people are around, the less shy he acts. Out of spite, he’ll go against his usual quiet nature and make a scene just to mess with someone. Whether it’s by starting a shouting match in a crowd or something else, it wouldn’t be rare for him to break out of his shell temporarily if his nerves have been struck… Then likely crawl back into his usual shell with a vengeance after the adrenaline fades if he realizes that a lot of people are staring at him. With how insecure he can be, sometimes he just hides himself away from everyone to be alone and recover, generally more at peace when no one’s bothering him. History As far as Junichi is aware, he was born in the deserts of Kaze no Kuni. This, however, simply isn’t true. What the man who raised him never told him was that he’s actually from Mizu no Kuni, taken from a small family who was down on their luck and incredibly desperate for ryo. It was bad enough that they sold their newborn son, the younger of two, to a traveling merchant who was stopped in a port town for a business deal. Takashi was his name, an entrepreneur who was used to making risky trips through the desert for large profits. He saw the family of beggars and capitalized on their desperation, after seeing that they were creating ice sculptures to sell out of thin air.Instead of one of the sculptures, Takashi offered to purchase the younger child instead, who he learned was called Junichi. At first they adamantly refused, but with his silver tongue he was soon able to convince them. In their situation they couldn’t really even afford their older son, they knew they might not even make it with trying to take care of a second one as well- not to mention the merchant’s offer was very generous. So Jun was taken back to the desert, solely because the merchant believed that having a companion who could create water and ice while traveling through the desert would be incredibly useful. After being torn away from his home, the Kaishin was raised with the lie that Takashi was his grandfather and that his parents had been slain by bandits. He never really questioned it since they looked somewhat similar with the same dark hair, plus it was hard to compare features with the man being quite old. The two of them were actually happy together, the merchant treating him well and as if he was actually family. The only thing that he loved more than Jun was his cat, Mimi, the feline black in color except for tufts in her ears being white and there being a light spot on her chest as well. Mimi had been Junichi’s best friend as well, as normally it was just the three of them and the camels either traveling across the desert or working a stall. They never really stayed in one place long, but it wasn’t horribly difficult for him to get used to moving around a lot. By the time he was five he could create enough water for them all to drink regularly, and just a few months later he could make that water into ice to help them cool off on the sweltering heats. Around the time he was eight the cat that they both loved so much got ill while they were on a route and didn’t survive long enough for them to take Mimi to a vet in the next city. Takashi really, really didn’t take it well. When they finally reached the city, Jun was drugged in his sleep the first night there and Takashi dragged him to an augmentation ritualist who would work illegally for a certain price. The elderly man sort of lost it after losing Mimi, having come up with the brilliant plan of altering Junichi somewhat in the likeness of the recently deceased cat. The young boy was given cat ears, tail, small claws, as well as a heightened sense of smell. When he came to after the rituals he had sort of freaked, but ultimately calmed down since he felt so bad for his “grandfather”. Still he insisted on hiding the abnormalities while they were around other people, only letting them show when the two of them were alone in their journeys across the dunes. The young boy had feared them getting attacked by bandits and killed as he thought his parents had been for a large majority of his life, so he trained hard to be able to do more than just create the ice and water. He wanted to protect them, so he learned some basic skills that’d be useful for taking out the average bandit. While they did come in handy in a few scuffles he got into, they did nothing when Takashi fell ill. He was eighteen at the time and the man was simply too old and frail to fight off the sickness. After his supposed grandfather passed away, he hadn’t anything left. The majority of their amassed wealth had been spent on medical bills and the usual contracts were absolved since they didn’t trust that he could carry them out on his own. For a long while Junichi simply wandered around, eventually finding some shinobi recruiting for Sunagakure in one of the merchant towns. After some serious consideration he decided to join the hidden village, deciding that he wanted to protect the people of this country like he had once protected Takashi. Finally having some sort of direction again, he went through the academy quite quickly since he was already skilled at molding chakra, the main things he needed being the basic techniques and then the concepts since he wasn’t used to working with or around ninja. It took him less than a year, the man twenty-one when he was made genin and it was even recommended that he work around another shinobi around his age so he could integrate into the village easier. |
