Talk, dark and brooding. Measuring six feet and six inches tall, weighing two-hundred and thirty pounds. Kenshin is a man not often trifled with, his physical stature is impressive having the blood of gods running through his veins. His lineage traces back ages upon a time, the only known properties of his blood linking back to the Kamyuja. Ancestry he couldn’t avoid if he wanted to, and as far as he knew, he wouldn’t want to. Beyond that his body suffers from a long genetic history of Huntington’s disease, a disease immune to treatments at current day standards. Long dark hair frames his entire face, running down his cheeks with strands cutting across his face. Soft eyes set upon his face beneath sharp eyebrows often misconstrue his real intentions, the dark-grey orbs peaking through the long strands to observe everything around him.
His standard day attire has him carrying a long brown coat, pockets line the front of the jacket and internally for objects of his desire. Aside from his iconic coat, the next frame of reference most would call attention to is his hat, broad brimmed but twisted lightly on both edges with a light curve. Light brown, with a lighter cord dangling from the side as a security. The coat and hat are long worn items of his and his family past, both carried through generations of hunters. His father one, as was his mother, and both were very capable. He was raised as such and the equipment between them shared, now retired they’ve passed possession onto him of many useful tools.
White short and blue pants underneath the coat aren’t often subject of inspection or ridicule, it’s rare to find him without but in the occasion he might. They’re simple clothes, sought for comfort and movement over everything else. Simple boots carry his feet across rough ground and hold to the abuse he puts it through. A simple outfit that serves him it’s purposes, easy and comfortable, without restriction. Over each hand a glove, fingers cut to allow him better freedom, but the padding of the gloves designed to help him in a number of ways, protection at the simplest form to make his day to day easier. While not much, the clothing is an abundance to him and more than enough to keep him safe and covered.
Connected to his belt a strap belonging to a long sheath, the blade inside a weapon never missing from the hunter’s arsenal. The blade was given to him by his father, a sort of coming to age gift and a welcome to the family. The blade is dark silver, stained with an untouched cutting edge, the tsuba a small ring with intricate patterns engraved on it’s entirety. The handle simple, black fabric weaved across to create both a grip and pattern. The sheath matching with a simple black flat paint, a small metallic end piece engraved to match the tsuba. Along with his blade at his side, the Venator has deck holders strapped to his belt like magazine holsters, inside a deck each. Simple enough, but the trick? Under the manipulation of his abilities, deadly to any. The cards themselves were deadly under his throwing skill, combined with his ability to manipulate paper and it’s properties. Limitless.
The only other weapon seen with the hunter as much as his trusted sword, a crossbow. The weapon of death was manufactured with only that in mind, complete and utter destruction of the target in mind. With a quick trigger system built in and the combined skills of the marksman at hand, the weapon could put out repeating bolts with a self-loading magazine system that would scare anyone on the opposite end. With several internal adjustments and basics sights, the weapon in the hands of th hunter only gives praise to his seriousness. Though not his famed weapon, it is the replacement until he can afford to acquire something similar to what he had before.Personality
Complicated covers only a portion of the personality behind the man, his visage delving only a minute percentage deep. Making a simple guess on his nature improbable and extremely rare, those that do often come to the incorrect conclusion. He is withdrawn, and quiet, but he is not so because of his dislike of company or inability. Drawn internally by a mind running a million miles too fast for his comprehension and understanding. On top of that a strong medical condition resides internally, buried into his genetics and remained active despite the alterations he has gone through. Huntington’s disease. A degradation of his physical abilities that is due to come far too soon. He has spent a long time searching for answers, and to this date hasn’t come to a reasonable conclusion.
When approached and pulled from any reverie that currently has him enraptured, he is kind and gentle despite both his lineage and first appearance. Despite his withdrawn nature, he will be the first to stand before any threat to the innocent. His character will drive him to put right before wrong and to correct the imbalance at every chance impregnable. He has very little aggression in his body for those without reason, he is a reasonably logical and a rational person and will often find reason and logic behind all actions before committing them. While it’s not like his absolute nature to act aggressively or similar, don’t put him past him to get upset, or emotional and act completely irrationally. He is human, and he has flaws. If you abuse that, you’ll find the result. It just might not be the result you’re hoping for.
His stance to the law and rules set in place often puts him at conflict with people he normally would be. He can be very unconventional but all at the cost of a greater good, looking beyond the silly fabric of the unrealistic. He has a stance against evil and will do his best to put it right, regardless of consequences. He is relatively selfless and would put his life before another’s if prompted. Despite this selflessness, the greater objective can interfere with any immediate heroism. If he has the chance to put himself before someone condemned to die, to save 10 others. He would not. The cost and consequences are always at the forefront of his mind, and many-a-time this will cause some conflict, but as a realist he can see the reason and go through.
As a shinobi Kenshin often feels out of place, his life has been so ignorant to the ninja wars and their professions that spread across the planet. His life never included them until recently, so the have been thrown in the deep end was jarring and odd, even in his most natural state in a village, he feels as though he’s in some alien place. A natural displacement in ways, unable to connect with them and their goals. He adjusts for his career and makes the best of what he can, but there is and will always be the unnatural feeling of feeling like he’s in the wrong place. Whether he’s destined for different or just unsettled.
It is believed that along with his Huntington’s disease, Kenshin has also been genetically gifted with both dual brains, and eidetic memory. Both of which have increased his ability as a hunter. The ability to recall old events and transfer live action into a memory bank and pull it forward at will, almost indispensable as a Shinobi, Hunter and finally as an AnBu. Given the responsibilities of a ranking member of the special forces granted him many benefits, but also a lot of pressure and stress. His freedom was taken at signing up, and often he is interrupted for their duties. Among the AnBu he is quiet, and loyal, taking orders and commands without hesitation and moving through to agree with them. The perfect subject for the village forces.History
Born as a single child to a loving couple, the mother a sufferer of Huntington’s and his father’s side being of the Kamyuja bloodline. He was unlucky in acquiring both through genetics and inheriting the disease. Though through his current life he hasn’t shown any confirmed symptoms of Huntington’s, it has always been on his mind. Something that severe and threatening never escapes attention, especially when it strikes randomly and without any warning. His father’s side was free of disease and any health issues, the Kamyuja were particularly resilient to most and all, their genetic structure different to standard.
Beyond his birth, Kenshin had been a symbol of misfortune and bad luck. Inheriting Huntington’s at birth was the start of an awkward and destructive childhood. Four years into the future and misfortune struck hard, taking his mother from him violently. A raid of bandits struck their camp at night and took her life before his father could wipe them out and reclaim her body. A small funeral was held, where she was set upon a pyre and ignited. Beyond the most tragic, he was often circumstance to bad timings with events. They often had to move around, both due to their occupation and his luck, it was clear to his father and mother from an early stage that he was of the Pulverem.
When he was ten he was gifted away to the priests of the City of Aramis, they took him in and granted him a life they knew his father could not permit. The priests and carers of the boy in Aramis knew his parents well, but eluded that fact when asked. He was ignorant to their connection, leaving him to believe he was abandoned for a few years until he learned the truth. Four years later he was taken aside and taught the ways of the priest. He started his life as such and began a completely new journey to the one he had months before, the hunter. It was until he was 16 that he left the city and made his own way in the world. He kept connections with the priests and acknowledged what they had done for him, it was when he left that they put him back in touch with his father.
His parents were hunters, and as a byproduct he was always subject to their job, they called themselves The Venator. He was trained young to defend himself and eventually when not so young, trained to hunt himself, using his significant age advantage to help in that pursuit. The lineage of the family traced back decade after decade of hunters, all with unique abilities. It was during his time growing up that both he and his father took course in guaranteeing his success. He was enrolled in university but applied his studies through distance education. Traveling as much as he did left him with little alternative, he took studies and learned as much as he could. It was all to help their personal goal, to rid the world of evil regardless of the laws and people who disagreed. The evil they faced wasn’t standard to these people.
While living a separate life and at a distance to his father, both often worked hand in hand to provide a broader assistance to the world. Occasionally they would meet and become one for greater jobs, but it would never last long. Until this day his father is still out and working to rid the world of demons, one at a time, trying to find some great scheme to remove them from existence entirely. Kenshin applied himself to a hidden village, one located in Ame No Kuni. Amegakure. Though the process was lengthy and difficult, it provided him many benefits. He learned many things and made his way up the ranks quickly, still only a Genin, but now part of two separate AnBu squads. Dragon being his primary, with Bear being secondary. He was still operating under the Venator and fulfilling his father’s wishes and demands, but also making progress elsewhere.
