Standing at six feet exactly, Satoru is a relatively tall man, towering over a lot of people. Given his age, this shouldn't come as an entirely surprising thing however. He has a medium-large build with even muscles stretching over his frame, the sign of continuous exercise and activity. He takes good care of his body, knowing it's the only one he's got, and rarely does anything on purpose that would cause it permanent danger. Besides, he thinks of his appearance as one of his strong suits: how else will he flirt perfectly with anyone? He finds himself overly attractive. His skin is a light tan in color, showing that he spends a lot of his time out in the sun instead of holed up inside. His face is angular and his chin comes to a point. Framing his face is his hair, which is a darkish purple color that comes down to his waist when unbound. Usually he keeps it in a pony tail, or some other style to match his appearance. His golden eyes are thing and sharp, and in the right light, appear as if they even glow. And then of course comes his attire. He's very proud of the way he dresses, striving for perfection in everything, and never wearing the same thing twice in a row. It's nearly impossible to describe this aspect of his wardrobe, as he just wears whatever he feels makes him look best. Complimenting colors with his hair or eyes, wearing striking colors that mold well with his appearance and don't harshly stick out - yet don't make him fade away into the crowd. He loves to wear whites and golds/oranges, with blacks or purples tossed into the mix as they match his features best. They tend to be slightly loose, never too tight as to be form fitting, yet not so baggy as to give him off a lazy feel. Jewelry almost always sits somewhere upon his form, either as rings, necklaces, or the constant golden hoops that pierce his ears. .personality. To describe the varying emotions and traits of Satoru is like trying to describe the color of red to a person blind from birth. It's just not possible. Satoru likes to think of himself as complex, and in a way he is. He can be both predictable, and unpredictable at the same time. He's a very laid back and fun loving person, so he's easily approachable. He'd strike up a conversation with anyone without hesitation, a big bright smile plastered onto his face for everyone to see and an easy going manner about him. An attitude that would make just about anyone feel that he didn't take anyone seriously. However, there is a saying that says beware the kind ones, beware the silly ones. Satoru is kind to everyone he meets - under certain circumstances that is - but in a heart beat if something isn't how he approves of or believes in, he will snap. Usually when he stops laughing and joking around, it's when things are about to get serious. When Satoru gets serious, there's no holding back from him, no hesitation or moments of doubts. It's a straight up "I'm going to do this and you're going to deal with it" kind of thing. Now, he is quite aware of his appearance and the fact that he is, indeed, a man. And because of this, he takes advantage of his looks. He dresses to please the ladies. Yes, that calm easy going man is also a flirtatious, womanizer. He does everything he can to seduce a pretty lady, and even if he doesn't exactly thing a woman is pretty, he will still flirt with them and bring out the charm. He uses his charm to his advantage, after all. This constant flirting and seducing has won him quite a few very unflattering names over the years by those who know him. It also proves that he has commitment issues, determined never to get married and settle down unless he somehow manages to find that perfect person -- which he doubts that he will find. When not busy with something, and not flirting with women (okay, even sometimes when he is flirting with women), he will drink. He can't go too long without some kind of alcoholic beverage in his system. Over years of drinking, he's become an alcoholic, though he will deny it as long as you don't try to take it away from him. He's very protective of those around him, whether he knows them or not, it's an instinct. He'll do whatever he can to protect someone, even at the risk of his own life if it comes down to that. He won't hesitate to do what it takes, and will even come to the aid of an enemy if they are being treated unjustly. He believes in equality and peace for all, even to the extent that despite certain childhood experiences, he will come to the aid of a village he doesn't belong to as long as he is nearby and the citizens are in danger. He has a burning hatred for those who prosecute others and those who treat others unjustly. He believes that everyone should live their life how they wish to live it, as long as it doesn't cause harm and chaos to others. Therefore, currently he doesn't believe in being a permanent part of a village, wishing to live his life free and open, without the burden of being a ninja and requiring that he sell his soul to their views. He will defend his beliefs firmly and sincerely. However, he believes that if people do wish to do that sort of thing, that is their business and they should be allowed. He's fully aware that sometimes the cost of good can be viewed as evil by those that it downtrods on. He knows that being good does not mean that one must be soft, and sometimes it takes a firm and swift hand to execute an action that will benefit as many people as possible. However despite this, he prefers to search for the route that will hopefully commit good for all. He's a very adventurous spirit, and likes to travel the world to gain a better knowledge of the land and culture around him. He enjoys sailing on ships, and enjoys even more sailing them. He strives to become a craftsman and sell his wears to those who need them, striving for perfection in even that. His goal is to become a famous craftsman who stands up for the people. |
.history. The story of Ryūichi Satoru began as a happy one. A normal one. One without significant events for a long period in time. Well, one couldn't really call it normal. You see, Satoru's family was very poor. His father was disabled, and his mother was poor of health. They lived in the poor area of a village along the borders of an unidentified country. Upon the borders of an unmarked country separate from the rest of society. This village ran itself, had it's own government, and it's own way of living. And in this village lived the family, cast away into the slums from the rest of the people, living with the poor of wealth, and the poor of health. And that's how they lived for years, looked down upon by the rest of this village. And then things kind of changed. How so, you ask? Well, as the young Satoru grew up, the people of the slums became closer. It was almost as if they had their own society. They respected each other, helped each other, took care of each other. And life was happy, for a time. Satoru had friends that he could play with, people he could run around with, pretty much had a family, whether blood related or not, that extended to more than just his mother and father. However things started to change, not between the people of the slums, but between the officials of the village. They saw how close the slums were becoming, how happy they were and how better their lives were becoming. They began to fear an uprising, fear that the people of the slums would band together and strive for a better place in the world. And so they took action. They sent the militia after them. The people of the slums however, did band together. They banded together to take care of their children and their women, to take care of their elderly and their homes. Satoru's father was one of the ones that stayed behind to fight, as the other villagers fled, as other women helped his sick and frail mother move and carried the crying and kicking little Satoru out of the village screaming for his father. He never saw him again. The men of the slums were easily cut down, only taking a few of the militia men with them. A few of the villagers escaped the village, including Satoru and his mother, however the stress on his mother's body took its toll on her, and within the next few weeks, she couldn't make it. She passed on, leaving Satoru truly alone. The young kid went into a depression, yet a rage built up inside of him at his old hometown. He wanted to go back and fight, but it seemed like the fight would come to him instead. The village had hired mercenaries, had hired slavers to come after them. The weary villagers were clearly no match for them. The weak and elderly were killed on the spot, and the women and children were enslaved. Satoru was just ten years old. There was no way that he could put up a fight against fully grown and armed men, but tried anyway he did. It didn't end well for him. They were brought to another outlaying village. A few villagers were kept for their own, but the rest, including Satoru, were sold to the highest bidder. Satoru was bought by a ship captain, a large frightening man who did his best to look as tough as he could. But as Satoru would learn as the days wore on, this captain was the nicest person he could have possibly been bought buy, and the nicest man upon that ship, a ship the man named The Lady. While to his crew he acted tough and mistreated his slaves, when alone the man had a kind heart, treated their, his, wounds, and gave them food that normally they wouldn't have gotten. They had cots, although uncomfortable, below deck where they could sleep when they weren't being put to work somewhere on the ship. Satoru quickly found himself with an interest in the sea. He frequently found himself getting lost in his thoughts when he looked out at it, abandoning his tasks just to stare out over the wide expanse of water with eager eyes. The Captain was fine with it most of the time, but many of the crew members and the other slaves were not, seeing how much their Captain and Master favored the young kid. Which caused him to be rather... 'bullied' by the others. But Satoru took it without a word or a fight, up until a few years later around the age of fourteen, where he began to fight back, and most of the time he won these fights. He had a few allies among the slaves, and he'd curried the favor of a few of the crewmen as well. The majority of the crew however were not happy. And not just with him, but with their Captain in general. One night there was a mutiny. The slaves stayed locked up below deck, but with the help of another reluctantly man who pick locked their door, Satoru managed to escape onto deck, and tried to get to the Captain. By the time he did, however, it was too late. The man had been slayed by his own crew, and as they tossed his body overboard, they beat the shocked boy back into submission and tossed him into the cargo hold alone, where they left him for days. When they finally took him out of there, and tossed him back with the other slaved, he didn't even put up a fight. One of the women down there tended to his wounds when she could until he was better, but despite his wounds the new captain and the crew still made him get up and work. They simply didn't care. Satoru worked quietly, he didn't complain or utter a word when one of the men got mad at him and took it out on him. But secretly he was plotting in his head. Their new captain was cruel, and none of the slaves liked him. With careful persuasion, subtle at first, over time Satoru managed to gain the cooperation of his fellows, and together one night they threw their own mutiny. They took the ship by force under his lead, yet they didn't kill a single man. They tied them up and tossed them in the cargo hold, dropping them off at the nearest land for them to fend for themselves. These newly freed slaves named Satoru the new captain of The Lady. Satoru already knew how to sail, having been watching the old Captain who bought him, and he was able to sail their ship with pride and joy. The crew decided to rename the ship to The Lady's Freedom as show of their victory. For several years, Satoru sailed this ship and went on adventures with his new crew, getting into the trading business and bringing wealth and fame to them. It was also during this time frame that Satoru's pleasure with women and wine came into being. One day they came across a shipwreck, where they found the most curious of survivors. He seemed to be from some other land, a headband with a weird symbol attached to his forehead, and strange clothes. The nursed the man back to health until he was able to move around and speak. He told them how he had been sailing to a different country on a ship when a storm hit and lightning struck the hull, catching it on fire and causing it to sink. Thankfully they washed up on shore, but it seemed he was the only survivor. Satoru found himself intrigued by this man, and whenever he wasn't sailing the ship, he spoke with him instead. The man was something called a "ninja". He even demonstrated his abilities, which caused Satoru to become even more intrigued. He promised that they would sail him back to his country if he could help them find it. In return, the man taught Satoru the basics of what he knew, things that would become helpful to him in later life. When they finally landed in this new country many many months later, Satoru decided that he wanted to go on an adventure of his own. He had some knowledge of crafting and such from all of his traveling the world whilst trading, and wished to do just that, crafting and selling his wares to others. He offered the ship to his first mate, and the crew bid him farewell. They promised to visit from time to time and wait for him until he came, letting him know if he ever wished to become the captain of The Lady's Freedom once more, he was more than welcome to it. So Satoru would travel the lands of this new country, who's language was surprisingly the same as his, and discover more about it for himself. |
