Personality
Dedicated. Once Takeni set his mind to something, one could rest assured he would accomplish it. On more occasions than one, he was found training in the middle of the night. Even when learning about the various poisonous snakes on Nagi Island, If Takeni were bitten, he'd go to his sensei for help and go right back to the forest. This could be seen as either a stength or weakness.
Ardent. When Takeni enjoys something, he will put every ounce of his being into it. This includes training, mixing poison, etc. Once he finished an entire series of Shojo Manga in less than a day. During the time that he is involved, very few people can snap him out of his daze, however family and close friends do retain that ability. Once during a fight with his sensei, Takeni's good friend came by and distracted him, causing a loss for the boy.
Independent. From a very young age, Takeni has had to take care of himself. His parents fell ill with the Kaguya curse of calcium poisoning while he was eight. Since then, he has been primarily self sufficient. This isn't to say that he doesn't enjoy the company of friends or that he won't accept help; it just states that he has the ability.
Observant. When working with snakes in a tropical forest, knowing one's surroundings is extremely important. Takeni quickly learned this when his sensei began teaching him. On several occasions, his observance has been the difference between life and death. When mixing poisons it's also important to know exactly where everything is that you're working with. Without this skill, it's certain that Takeni wouldn't be alive.
Loving. Takeni has the utmost respect for most, if not all, living creatures. After the death of his parents, his respect for life was intensified. Now, when his sensei is nearing his nineties, Takeni fears the end is near. There are perhaps only two cases in which Takeni would willingly harm a creature; the first of these is to complete a mission. The second case would be only in life and death situations.
Appearance
Face. Takeni has a heart shaped face. His widow's peak is hidden by his long black hair, but it is surely there. The contours of his cheeks slim down until they reach his thin, almost pointy, chin. His skin is lightly tan, but best described as "fair toned". Two red tattoos in the shape of of dots are on his forehead. This is the mark of the Kaguya.
Hair. Takeni has medium-long straight black hair. It's much longer on the sides behind the ears and rarely changes unless blown by the wind. The front has a small "wedge" of hair that covers an area between his eyes. Found on the crown of Takeni's head is more straight black hair flowing in all directions. From the back, the hair appears to be neck length.
Eyes. A light lavender, Takeni's eyes are quiet, yet soulful. People of his village say that you can see the sorrow of his past in them if you look closely enough. Often times these eyes are partially hidden by his hair. Some people may see his eyes a different color depending on the lighting. It's rare for someone to get a good, unobstructed look at his eyes.
Physique. Tall, Thin, Malnourished. These are all words that could be used to describe Takeni. Most often, his friends doubt he even eats except when absolutely necessary for survival. He's thin, but he's also extremely quick and agile. This agility more than makes up for his weaker strength. Takeni is focused on skill rather than brute strength.
Apparel. Takeni does not often deviate from his traditional style. He is seen wearing a kimono tied by a cloth belt. Hidden from sight is a utility belt under the kimono. The loose clothing helps with his TaiJutsu especially considering it's based on dance movements. Takeni usually wears sandals or flat-soled shoes.
Background
Family History: Takeni's parents once lived in Kirigakure, but the thought of the downfall of their once great clan tore them apart. In their despair, around ten Kaguya moved to Nagi Island of the Land of Tea. The village they moved to was small, with only around fifty people. Residents lived in huts made of leaves and the bark of palm trees.
Childhood: Takeni was a very sheltered child. This abruptly ended when he discovered that his parents had been stricken ill by the curse of the Kaguya, calcium poisoning. Shortly following their death, Takeni's great uncle, Takeuichi, took the boy in. Having no wife or children, Takeuichi was ecstatic to have someone to keep him company. Soon Takeni became accustomed to the new situation and began referring to his great uncle as, "Gramps".
Hone No Sensei: As he was without parents, Takeni's training was taken over by Takeuichi. First, he started with the basics; Takeni learned to use his chakra to climb trees. This took several days to master. Afterwards, the boy begged his master to teach him to use his bloodlimit, however, "Gramps" refused saying that it was too dangerous.
Nagi No Hebi: A skill valuable to the village, it was a custom that when boys turn ten, they're trained in the art of alchemical poisons. He started small, working with the plants of the island, and worked his way up to snake venoms. These poisons were only the beginning of their training, however, they did teach the children the basics needed to further their study. Most went on to study other via books while a rare few left the island.
Takeni decided to stay at the age of fifteen, however, a few years later Takeuichi was stricken by calcium poisoning. In an effort to save the boy any mental anguish, he begged him to leave. It took a while, but finally the young shinobi-to-be agreed, though reluctantly. A few days following, Takeni packed and headed out on a rowboat. Finally, after weeks of rowing, the shore of Kaminari No Kuni was in sight and his journey had begun.
