The weight of the nodachi had hardly meant much to Kurou, despite it being almost as tall as he. Given that the weight had been balanced throughout a weapon of such size, one would assume for it to be burdensome to lug around without setting it at their hip in a scabbard. That was not the case with the Seitetsu boy, who hoisted the nicked blade of the weapon over his shoulder with both hands before trotting down some winding path in the wild of Fang Country. This, aside from his alloy-created skeleton, had been his own form of an actual weapon. Despite the presence of kunai knives in a pouch that he had pilfered from some corpse, the boy relied solely on this greatsword or his body to produce the devastating effects of slashing and maiming. Having held on to this sword for more than half of his life, Kurou had taken a liking to the weapon and found its weight comfortable, enough though he still used it dual-handed-ly from time to time. From the rising trees that sprouted out all around him, he heard the light chirping of birds and the swift rustling of leaves. That secondary noise came from either the wind blowing, or the alacritous leaps of smaller woodland mammals that the boy did not care to identify. Even though he had walked in a humid forest, he sweat not. Kurou was adamant in his temperament, choosing to preoccupy his mind with thoughts of finding Xerxes or even killing a traveling band of merchants. The sword began to press into his shoulder bone and with a single hand, he moved it to the opposite shoulder and allowed it to rest a time there while he ventured.
Obviously oversized for a boy of Kurou's stature, the nodachi was known as one of the swords of the samurai, who, during feudal periods, brandished two weapons. The katana had been a significantly easier weapon to wield when compared to its larger counterpart, yet Kurou did not mind the extra weight of the metal blade. With how frequently the boy traveled around Kiba no Kuni, he had certainly increased his arm strength from just being capable of carrying the greatsword around with him where ever he went. At times when he chose to visit a village of the isle, many people would look toward him and gawk because of his durability. Men many years older than he would look on in disbelief, for even they could not muster the strength to carry a blade of that size with such an aloof air. Kurou made it honestly look like nothing.
After walking not even a quarter of a kilometer to the east of Kiba, he decided to find a place to sit. Sandal less in the wilderness with sharp rocks and deadly plants all around him did not seem to faze Kurou. The greatsword was dropped vertically beside him and against the same tree wherein he leaned as he plopped down beside the massive weapon. The sun had settled beneath the treeline yet was still potent in the sweltering enclosure. Now, he began to sweat. Following the brief resting period of ten minutes, Kurou rose to his feet and gripped his age-old weapon by its hilt with his right hand. His muscles flexed like steel as he started to lift the upside down weapon away from the trunk of the thick tree; steadily, it rose; with one hand, he had managed to hoist it off of the ground and it did not seem to bother his physical constitution at all. The Steel-Body descendant showed an impressive amount of strength when none else but himself was present. This had been an opportune time to train with this blade further, to learn how to wield it with a single hand in order to show his prowess with this incredibly large piece of sharp iron.
Looking towards a similar tree that had been covered in large gashes, Kurou moved forward and his grip gradually tightened once he crossed the three meter gap to test his swinging proficiency.
