Just as I had overcome that sudden wild sense, my eyes again darted towards the map, pinpointing my exactness by way of signs and drawn motifs. Using both the map, and my innate sense of direction, I gauged that it did indeed lead into the forest; further inspection of my surroundings----the trees; the barren road, where few traveled at so nigh-dusk an hour; simple sounds of the wild, observed by my keen ear upon the otherwise quiet path----verified this assumption. With the decreasing light over the land of Losiel, my green eyes turned luminescent; the blood of dragons that coursed through me fueled my sight in the approaching darkness, and almost clearly I could see the road ahead of me.

"Prey." I hissed sharply in my native Aklo, somewhat giddy in finding the tracks of this quarry. Checking my hip as I returned my map to its quarters, my claws found the hilt of my rugged katana. To my left had been five meters of metal wire, tucked inside a small pouch; it is quite easy to forget about this item while sneaking about. Born a Tokegakuran hunter, I knew where lay my most vital weapon: the thirty-pound draw composite bow. It was strapped across my chest, and upon my back was a quiver containing a slew of boreworm arrows; in separate confinements, explosive arrows ducked away in a triad. I possessed a small knife in my cloak pocket, yet would only resort to such a weapon in a tight and otherwise public environ; in the wild, I was free to cause stealthy recklessness. 

Swiftly, I moved towards the forest-path. I wondered what lay in this foreign wilderness, yet given my ichizoku abilities, I felt comfortable about myself. Momentarily, the call of the Queen lay unanswered.

She let out a yelp of mixed pain and surprise as the filthy creature struck out and tore into the flesh of her cheek. Blood and filth intermingled around the wound and her hand went to the injured area with tears filling her eyes. She fought back the sobs that wracked her chest and told herself, "I cannot cry, it will make daddy upset with me." With the occasional tear still falling from her eyes she stood and went back to Mr. Snuggles' wagon and pulled him along. She was covered in filth and needed to find a place where she could bathe, which meant she needed to find some water that wasn't moving too quickly.

He had not diverged far from the beaten path. He was north of the capitol by now. The road was steady for some time but fell to the wayside. What remained was a beaten path clearly used by travelers. The normal signs would be apparent. Wagon wheels, foot prints, hoof prints from various livestock and horses. If he were to diverge off the beaten path he would find the wilder woods. Ahead however he would notice the gentle curl of smoke rising into the clear sky. Fire. And fire meant people.

Winding through the darkened city the girl would eventually come across a fountain. Small coins glittered in the bottom and no one was around to be seen. Night had truly fallen by now and it seemed everyone was somewhere indoors by this point.

This skill is important for ferreting out advancing enemies or ambushes, generally real-time events and actions occurring, versus scrutiny, which covers static objects or areas. A Game Master may roll an Observation skill check for a Character any time there is an NPC, monster, event or happening that a character might notice, even if he did not specifically state that he is monitoring his surroundings. My Saurian senses tingled as the moon's light gave way to the track markings that I so sought; the northern path broke away into the thicket and I hastily bound through the dense cluster of woodwork. Most of my work had been made easy for me, despite the disadvantages that a forest at nighttime usually held against those who were human.  As I continued to trot over rotted log and fungal debris, the sturdy aroma of smoke filled my reptilian nostrils. Had this been a sign of a fire coming from within the secluded darkness? Readily, I shifted my Thermal Sonar ability on and the world around me grew blue; "Ah!" I muttered as my head scanned the area, looking for that oh-so-precious telltale sign of life: and there it was, perhaps almost thirty meters away from my current location. I simply shivered as my olfactory sonar senses caught the glimpse of a heat signature, and it seemed to be more than just fire in that direction.

As I jumped to rise above the foliage-littered ground of the forest, I hoisted myself up upon a thick branch which could easily support my weight. I had become so excited by this latest revelation, that my scaly fingers jumped with anticipation; smoothly, and as swiftly executed as the cut of a blade, my right hand wrapped around the tail-end of one of my many boreworm arrows; my alternate appendage in the same fraction of time had moved to hoist my bowstring from off of my chest. The hunt had been initiated. 

Keeping true to my nature of being a cold-blooded, reptilian, man-slayer, I moved through the upper treeline as silently as my training as a hunter could allow me. I had been focused now, and still hungry; my earlier run-in with Camoc and his daughter had left me empty-stomached, so perhaps Reptile could find a more succulent meal than the pot pie from the market...  I tried my best to fight the urge to approach the fire as a savage beast would, and kept my bow and arrow down as I moved closer towards my destination. At almost fifteen---or less---meters away from the source of heat, I thought I had heard voices. Maybe it was Reptile's mind playing hunger tricks on him, for I surely remembered a similar situation in the rain forest of Cha no Kuni before I came to Losiel.

Motionless, at a high vantage, I gleaned for some sort of information: voices, smells, movements. I carefully observed the area with my glowing green eyes. Hopefully, had they noticed the peculiar set of eyes high above their heads, they would simply take them to belong to some woodland creature; for my body was hunched low as if though I sat on a perch. Again, my hands shook with anxiety as I tried to steady my gaze and mind.

Effect: Using the pits grown into their noses, the member can activate a wave of thermal sonar that picks up movement and heat sources nearby, including humans.

Drawback: Only done with eyes closed.
Description: Closing their eyes and using a few handseals, the Clan member sends out a wave of chakra from the pits in their nose. This thermal wave is like sonar and picks up any heat readings in the area, including humans.
Limit: Must be of the Tokagekuran, Must be of Lizardman rank, Must have had the ritual preformed.

As she wound through the streets the lights began to go out and the people seemed to have vacated the area. After some time the girl found herself located near a fountain, which caused her to brighten up. There were none of those smelly blocks that you were suppose to rub on your skin when you bathed, but she could still clean herself. And thus the snow haired girl stripped from her garments and stepped into the waters of the fountain, sitting to cover as much of her nude form as possible in the waters. Bringing her dress into the waters as well she began to wash the filth from it just as she was doing so to her body.

His sense had not failed. Three men sat hunched around a small fire. Two large shaggy dogs laid between the men, heads downs and tongues lolling in relaxation. A small herd of fifteen horses could be seen picketed another ten meters north, straight past the men from the Reptile's vantage point. Two of the men seemed to be bickering whilst they sipped from tin cups. The third was disinterested, cleaning his nails absently with a dagger. Their voices carried but not so much that their speech could be understood.

One of the bickering men sat so that his back faced the Reptile. His partner in discussion was to his left, a side profile displayed to the hunter. The final man who was still cleaning his nails was facing the trees where Reptile held his vantage point. The moon was high in the sky, though it offered scant illumination. The party was far enough off the road that the trees mostly blocked the light.

Some time would pass for the girl uninterrupted. Half way through her wash however a guard would stroll past and witness the spectacle. "Halt!" He exclaimed, rushing towards the fountain. "Out of there right now!" His hand rested on the baton hooked to his hip, waiting for her to get feisty.

As she bathed in the lovely decorative water piece a voice came to her, shouting to halt. The young woman found herself thoroughly confused since she had not been walking around but she ceased her washing and turned her head to look at the guard. Gathering up the dress she stepped out of the fountain and cocked her head at the man. "Is something the matter sir?" She was genuinely confused about the whole occurrence, she had only been bathing herself after all? Wasn't that what a good girl was suppose to do? Wash up when she was dirty?

There had been five heat signatures that stood out to me as I neared the campsite; three humans and two larger canines. My eyes tightened into a hard leer as I determined their distances from me. One had been closer towards me than his allies and the dogs lay languidly on the forest floor. The stench of manure had hit my sensitive nasal pits and I figured that there may have been some horses around the camp ground. What a perfect opportunity to make off with a mount..

As the night wore on, I heard the men begin to ramble on in that language foreign to me. I wondered what sort of weaponry lay within their satchels and what sort of food I could come across, unless I was forced to dine on human flesh. My hands that once shook with anticipation now had reached to pull my bow from my torso; the hunt was now on. 

Closing the width of my stance, I felt my muscles coil in my back and chest while I steadied my feet on the thick branch. My clawed nails dug into the bark as I shifted my left leg forward and I noticed a slight sway in my upper body as I leaned away from my target: the lone man cleaning his nails. At worst, I would kill him and alert the dogs; they, despite being deprived of animation now, would probably spring up at the swift fall of one of their masters, as did all underlings of a higher power. The man had been facing me and so it was easy to hone into his eyes, despite the limited illumination of this area. I had deactivated my thermal sonar by this time and instead relied on the reptilian blood that coursed through me to see in this cumbersome darkness. 

I had a direct line to the target that I sought to slay first. He lay inside my range and would fall swiftly if I could place an arrow in his brow... Slowly, my right arm flexed back to grasp the fletching of a boreworm arrow. There would indeed be a swift kill ensuing if I could manage to hit my mark; this arrow would drill a hole right through his head and leave him where he lay. 

In this closed stance, I noticed how tight my pull on the drawstring had been and honestly, it felt firm; sturdy. Would this give me an increase in my release once I fired the arrow? My green eyes focused on the target for a second and then I took several more moments to hone in to his skull. I line up my shot; it's in point-black range. After I fire the arrow, I take precaution to ready another one of its kin; this would be to allow me the chance to out-manuever his comrades had they heard anything despite their chatter. As for the canines, I would rip them to shreds with my claws if I had to..

In the midst of my covert attack, a rift in space would begin to tear at my back. The leaves rustled strangely as the wind took on an ominous essence; what occurred next happened at the same time I had launched my arrow -- a netherrealm portal had appeared behind me laced with black and sick chartreuse lightning.

I was forthwith drawn in by the vortex and would mysteriously vanish from the Losielian realm. After a while, I had been returned to my gaining grounds in Cha no Kuni. The rainforest had a warmer climate than the forests of the other country, and Reptile was grateful for that. Despite what had occurred in the time of that otherworldly lapse, I still had a journey of my own. I set out in the black thickness of the jungle and headed on my way...
