Personality:
Kind: Kaorin is extremely kind to everyone that she meets. Rather than follow the traditional Uchiha path of undisguised hatred for anyone and everything, Kaorin would rather build a world where good acts will eventually overshadow the bad ones. That being said, everything that Kaorin does is motivated logically in a way to help her get ahead, including the way she treats everyone with kindness.
Collected: It's very difficult to get a rise out of Kaorin. She keeps herself very collected whenever she can, whether it be in the classroom, at a ramen shop, or on the fields of battle. There's no reason to "lose your head", as one would say, when both the lives of yourself and the ones who are counting on you are in jeopardy. The best way to come out on top of a situation is to always keep a level head.
Calm: As stated, getting a rise out of Kaorin is extremely difficult. Her emotional state is extremely calm, and she speaks with a cool tone of voice to help make sure that everyone around her remains calm, as well. Internally, Kaorin views her soul as a body of water; while things may sometimes make a ripple on the surface, deep down the ocean always remains calm.
Logical: Kaorin is not the type of person who will rush into things. She will always take the time to observe a situation, formulate a plan, and act in a way to bring her success. While some may take this as being over cautious, Kaorin would rather err on the side of caution with a higher chance of success than be pressed to the limits of her abilities without proper recourse.
Friendly: Kaorin uses the kindness that she naturally brings to build long-lasting friendships that can survive any tests of will. With these friendships, Kaorin seeks to build a network of people she can rely on in times of peril, at the cost of them requiring the same thing of her. A well connected group of friends is imperative for success in the world of shinobi, and Kaorin would be remiss not to build into this, she feels.
Grudging: Although Kaorin would never show this emotion, she will always carry a grudge towards people who have slighted her. Thanks to her natural-born abilities to recall people's faces, she will always remember the things that people have done to her, in order of their occurrence, from worst to best, and will await a time that seems best to exact her revenge.
Appearance:
Kaorin stands at 5 feet, 6 inches in heights. Her weight, 118 lbs, is clearly shown in her rather petite build. Slim everywhere, from her waist, to her arms, and to her legs, she works extremely hard to keep a firm control over her weight. While most might consider it typical teenage female vanity, Kaorin has a more practical purpose for her slender build. Remaining small allows her numerous advantages, such as being taken for a non-threat in combat, as well as the ability to fit into small places that many would think it impossible to slip into.
Unlike the typical Uchiha, Kaorin has soft, naturally white hair, as well as crystal clear "ice blue" eyes. These two traits, keepsakes from her mother, are both considered recessive genes, and thus strange that they would both come out over the overpowering Uchiha traits. However, Kaorin definitely enjoys her features, for they give her a unique appearance to many, despite her youth, and she does seem to enjoy the attention that they bring her.
Kaorin tends to prefer skirts and well-fitting blouses for clothing. She finds that the unrestricted movement these two articles give her is an advantage in combat, but she also enjoys that they also seem to give her an edge in the game of flirtation. While she does enjoy the looks that she gets frequently, she also takes care not to reveal too much of her bosom. Her mother didn't raise her as a tart, after all.
For accessories, Kaorin wears only one item: a small sapphire crystal on a black silk lanyard that hangs around her neck. This item, a memento from Kaorin's mother before her untimely death, serves as a reminder to Kaorin that while it is important to be kind and friendly to everyone, to not trust the people that she meets without first building an extremely good relationship. That was, of course, how her mother met her death.
When getting ready to go into combat, Kaorin dons a dark blue cloak, reminiscent of the color sapphire, but perhaps being closer to navy. It is inside of this cloak that the majority of her secondary weapons are stored. She also places two katanas upon her hips, one on either side, for easy grasping. She keeps a small disk inside of her cloak as well, allowing her the ability to easily obtain and throw the disk in situations where it becomes necessary.
When just moving about the village, Kaorin tends to wear sapphire colored heels about an inch in height, which she believes to be not too high but not too short, either. If she is needed to go into combat, she replaces her heels with wooden geta sandals, covering her feet with milky white tabi socks, which she considers ugly but comfortable, made of material that does not easily slip. Perhaps this is the reason she prefers to wear the cloak in combat, too, so nobody can see the ugly shoes that she is wearing.
Background:
For as long as Kaorin can remember, she has only had one parent, her mother. According to her mother, Kaorin's father was a strong warrior who the woman had fallen in love with, slept with, and became pregnant. The warrior was called off into battle and never returned. While Kaorin's mother, Nara, always spoke well of Kaorin's father, the fact that the man had never came to meet his daughter has always upset Kaorin. For the longest time, this was all the information that Kaorin ever obtained from her mother about her father.
Growing up in the village, Nara was a medical shinobi, and an extremely talented one at that. She was always called to the hospital, at all hours of the day, to perform incredibly complex surgeries and healing upon the shinobi of Konohagakure. While Kaorin had an initial interest in following in the footsteps of her mother, her mother refused to train her in the techniques until she was Academy trained. Unfortunately, Nara passed before Kaorin was finished with her schooling, and it is this, perhaps, that pushed Kaorin away from Medical Ninjutsu.
Kaorin worked hard, day and night, at perfecting herself. She was no prodigy, but she was dedicated, and she knew from an experiment by her mother that she had a natural talent in the arts of Katon. Knowing that learning to manipulate chakra correctly was essential to her abilities as a ninja, she finally manifested the powerful Goukakyou no Jutsu, launching an immobile fireball into a small pond, setting it hissing and steaming. She had worked hard, late into the night, and she knew her mother would be worried about her. How right she was...
Seeing the time, Nara decided that it was time to go searching for Kaorin and bring her home for dinner. Nara knew what a hard-working individual that Kaorin was, and Nara also knew that without someone prodding her, she would be willing to miss eating supper and arrive just in time to go to sleep. While she was out and searching for Kaorin, she found a cloaked figure dying in an alley of Konohagakure. Unbeknownst to Nara, the man was a rogue Ninja, who had returned to Konoha in order to destroy it. Nara, acting under the impulse to heal anyone that she found wounded, quickly came to the man and healed his wounds. The man's repayment was swift - a strike of the fist covered in chirping blue lightning would end the story of Hitogoroshi Nara. The man, being pursued by ANBU, quickly made his escape. By the time that Nara was found, it was too late for anyone to save the woman, and Kaorin found herself without a parent.
Anger, bitterness, and resentment surged within Kaorin's body when she found out that her mother had been murdered. Running away from home, she vowed to track down the man who had made her an orphan. She was unskilled and completely untrained, but hatred coursed through her veins, feeding her when she grew hungry and granting her talent where she had not fought to earn it. A month passed, but Kaorin could find no trail of the man who murdered her mother, and dejection overwhelmed even Kaorin's anger, and she fell to her feet in defeat.
It was in that moment that the rest of her life was shown to her. With the sound of chirping birds, a black cloaked man was rushing towards her, lightning covering his fist. Kaorin knew who this man must be, for she had heard described by those who had found her mother how the woman had died. Fear took Kaorin for the first time in her life, and in that moment, her body reacted, her muscles cramping, her breathing becoming ragged, tears forming on the edge of her eyes.
She tried to force her body to spring into action, but her limbs were sluggish, having been denied food and rest in the wild search for the man who had murdered her mother. The man right in front of her. Her sapphire colored eyes widened with terror as she realized that she was about to meet the same fate as Hitogoroshi Nara, the woman who had cherished and protected her for her whole life, but in the last moment before the strike, salvation came. With the sound of rushing cloaks, a group of men garbed in black and covered with animal masks that would name her ANBU, appeared, one with lightning covering his hand grabbing the wrist of the man who had been, just a moment ago, about to kill her.
The man spat and wrenched his arm, and Kaorin watched with horror as the limb split from the man's body at the shoulder, separating the item that bound him to the ANBU, and with a soft flicker, the man vanished from sight. The ANBU who had grabbed the man's arm looked towards Kaorin and gave a slight nod towards her. Throwing the arm down towards the ground by her side, the man, as well as three others, flickered in the same way that the man had, and suddenly there was just one ANBU left in the area.
Kaorin couldn't really remember what happened after that. Her eyes closed, and she knew that at some moment, she had been picked up by the ANBU who had remained and carried towards the village. The next few days were a blur, where she lay down in her bad, restless, yet resting, tossing and turning in anxiety and agony until, without reason, she seemed to come back into herself. She opened her eyes and saw reality for the first time. In that moment of clarity, she realized a few things.
One: she could never allow herself to act on emotional impulse again. It had almost killed her. Two: there was little that she could do alone against opponents of greater strength. Someone who had killed her mother would have been strong, for the woman was more than capable of defending herself. Rushing to chase after that man would have gotten her killed if it weren't for the ANBU. And third: she would need a strong compliment of allies if she were ever going to be able of tackling the greatest enemies that came before her. The ANBU that had been her salvation were her clue, there.
With lucidity came resolve, strength of mind, and character. Kaorin worked hard to complete her remaining time in the Academy, graduating at the number one spot. With her life as a ninja now within her grasp, Kaorin made a vow to herself: she would become strong enough to hunt down the man that had eluded her mother, the ANBU, and herself. She would become strong. She would become great. The world would know the name of Hitogoroshi Kaorin. But first, she needed to learn more about her past. Her father, her mother, her own strengths and weaknesses... She committed herself to finding the correct path.
