Background:
Aoki and Oe Yoichi were born two months premature to Baba, a medical doctor at the St. Souzens Hospital, and Arai Ban, a seamstress and tailor for the Amegakure populace, with the Futakongo coursing through their veins. It had been a rare gift to allow two non-combatants to have their children to be given such power, but Baba's high position within the hospital and Arai's kindred spirit convinced the Amekage to grant their request. A wise decision, because while Aoki was healthy at the time of his birth, Oe was sickly and at the risk of death; it was because of this that he was deemed the guest twin and united with Aoki, forcing him into a bodily prison in which would be his home up until the present day.
Despite their unique predicament, these two parents tried to give the young boys as normal a childhood was possible, all the while sheltering them from an undeniable truth: their mother was dying. She had been battling an blood disorder that even the greatest of the doctors in the village could not seem to cure. Thankfully, it was a slow acting disease, one that left her weak but still able to interact in passive situations; this made her the go to Oe, who preferred to hang back and watch his brother run around with the local kids. Oe would develop a close relationship with his mother, one that was only surpassed by his relationship with his brother; they were, in a sense, literally inseparable growing up.
It was at age ten that Aoki and Oe's life changed forever. By this point, Arai Ban's illness had worsened, requiring the care of a master physician out of Kaze no Kuni. While this physician traveled to the village, he was attacked and killed by a rogue ninja with a grudge, dooming Arai Ban as well; she died two months later, devastating Aoki and Oe. In was in his grief that Aoki begged his father to allow he and Oe to become shinobi to protect the village, so other families wouldn't have to pay the price for the actions of those with evil in their heart. Baba was opposed, but Oe became the deciding factor; the younger twin, who had never really stood up for anything in his life, said he wanted to do this as well, for mother. Baba's resolve weakened and he gave his permission, though with the request that they waited for two years before they enrolled in the academy.
In the interim two years between their mother's death and their enrollment in the academy, Aoki and, on occasion when others weren't around, Oe aided their father in his work at the hospital. He too had been changed by the death of Arai Ban, earning him a relocation from the surgeon's room to the morgue, where he was placed in charge of the autopsies, at least the ones not involving shinobi. Both twins would aid their father, but Oe especially stepped up in his free time, helping his father with the bodies and learning a thing or two about the anatomy along the way.
At twelve they enrolled in the village academy, spending the two years studying to be shinobi. At the encouragement of the instructors, the twin's bloodlimit was left unknown to the fellow students, partially at the request of their father and by the encouragement of the instructors, who realized if they could train the boys with very few knowing, it could prove a tactical advantage down the road once they were actually shinobi. Thus, to Aoki's peers, it was as if he was the only one enrolled, often staying after classes ended for "additional training;" to them, it was as if he was struggling, but really, the extra hours were for Oe to train without their knowing; from early on, Oe was deemed more a weapon than a person.
Just following their fourteenth birthday, Aoki (and Oe unknown by many) graduated from the academy near the top of the class. Now genin, they prepared themselves for the new challenges to come, knowing sooner or later that the "Weapon" would soon be used, to the surprise of allies and foes alike.

Character Depth
Personality:
Aoki, being the oldest twin, possesses the more bearing personality than that of his brother. In situations where the brothers are both present, it is Aoki who usually speaks for the both of them, often with a smile and a glint of trickery in his eyes. He is friendly enough to those he deems deserving of it, if not overly trusting of everyone he meets; no, his trust is for those who earn it, his brother first and foremost he would put his life in their hands (since in a sense, they are his as well). Being the twin present the most in everyday activities, Aoki has a greater sense of responsibility than his brother. He's used to taking charge, especially in things that involve Oe, something that has since transferred into his approach to the ninja life. He can be hard-headed at times, selfish even when it comes to his interactions with others, but he has good intentions in his independence. Authority annoys him, especially when it is his peers displaying it; he'll tolerate adults who have control at the moment, but kids his age just don't know better than him, in his eyes. Three defining traits: Anxious: Aoki's childhood has been defined by time limits, especially in interactions with his brother. Countless close calls early on, coupled with the knowledge that as shinobi, the struggle to stay as one will only increase, has left him with an anxious spirit. Due to this, Aoki approaches everything with a strained fervor and a desire to accomplish his tasks with speed, especially when he and Oe are in separate bodies. This anxiousness only increases in a particular thing is taking longer than it should, leading to rash decisions on his part; this is especially prevalent in combat; if a battle drags on closer and closer to the extent of their separation, Aoki's anxiousness will kick in and he'll start doing whatever it takes to allow him and Oe to unite once more. Compassionate: Despite his trust issues in the beginning, if one were to actually get to know Aoki like Oe has already, they'll find a kindness in him that is reassuring in this dangerous world. Aoki had the mindset to be a doctor like his father had been, but his desire to defend his village outweighed it, though his compassion did strengthen this protective notion he carries. Aoki didn't become a shinobi to hurt others, but to protect those others wanted to hurt, and in a violent world such as this, that makes all the difference. This isn't to say Aoki won't perform his duty come time, only that his motivation stems from more positive places. Optimistic: If there was anything Aoki took from his parent's raising, it was his optimistic approach to this broken world they lived in. He was encouraged to look past its shortcomings ( a lesson he didn't completely take to heart) and work towards the betterment of his life and those of his family (and later village). With Oe especially, Aoki envisions nothing but the best for both of them, an image that helps strengthen him to deal with his brother's somberness. Aoki often carries the weight in this relationship, but his optimism makes it all the easier. | Oe is the Shakespearean protagonist to Aoki's foil personality. Where his brother is ever positive and socialable, Oe is known by others as a quiet shadow, slow to speak and slower to smile. When in his own body, Oe often hangs behind Aoki, keeping his head low and rarely acknowledges those around him. It is only his brother these days that can crack his introverted shell and the only one who has made him grin in the last couple years. Oe too appreciates independence, but his appreciation comes not from experience, but longing; being the guest twin, his time in his own body is finite and often spent around others. It is in the sparse times where he was allowed solitude, if for an hour, that Oe was at his happiest. Because of limited experience with the world, Oe does not possess the same positive outlook towards his fellow man; he shares his brother's dislike of authority, but again, for different reasons. It is is this that he developed a deceptive mentality, longing to utilize his freedom to remind others that everything isn't always great; he's not vicious, but neither is he kind towards others; only Aoki truly has his love and loyalty, a bond beyond that of brothers. Three defining traits: Depressed: Oe has never been the most positive of individuals, given the circumstances in which he lived, and this only worsened following the death of his mother when he was ten. Because of this, Oe continually falls into depressive states that only Aoki can ever bring him out. Oe longs for seclusion, the sole benefit to his state as the guest twin, but he also seeks solitude, something he rarely ever finds anymore; it is due to this complex situation that Oe rarely ever considers himself "happy." Oh, Aoki knows exactly what it takes to crack his somber visage, but the days where it was only those two were gone, replaced by the world of the shinobi. Naive: Oe hasn't had much contact with the outside world, leaving him with limited experience that is evident in his individual interactions with it. While he isn't stupid, he is often behind with the norms of society. He is also used to listening to what his brother tells him, often accepting ideas that sensible people would not; this comes from the trust that whatever his brother tells him. Thus, his naivety bodes well in combat, leaving him quick to process information and follow orders, but elsewhere, it can be a hindrance. Inspirational: Despite all of his quirks, Oe possesses a fire in him that surpasses even that of his brother. He fights and trains harder than his brother, not for the village, but to prove himself capable despite rarely being present. It is in this that Oe often inspires those graced with the chance to see him; Aoki will never truly comprehend the blessing he had by being the host twin, but others all see the strength in Oe and often finds more out it than Aoki's own compassion or optimism. |
Appearance:
If it weren't for the headband marking him a member of the Rain Village, Aoki would probably get overlooked in a crowd due to his features. Others would describe him as a "pretty boy," with his soft features and blond hair that falls over his ears and eyes. His face bear more feminine features that a teenage boy would ever desire, with a sharp chin and petite nose. Vibrant blue eyes look out beneath his blond bangs, his sharp, thin eyebrows usually hidden beneath the wall of hair. His ears are small as well and hardly seen beneath his blond mop, which is often wild despite his attempts at grooming. Not a single blemish can be found on his face, be it a freckle or mole. Aoki stands an inch shy of six feet tall despite his age, with only a hundred and forty five pounds on his long frame; this gives him a very lean, lanky appearance. His skin is pale, the mark of his father, and is prone to the sun's violet rays; sunburn is a difficulty that both Aoki and Oe both deal with. Despite his lack of girth, Aoki fills himself out his stature simply with his mentality. Aoki steels himself against slouching, giving him a straight back and the prospect of an imposing figure in his later years. Though Aoki looks lean, the years he spent in the academy training to be a genin have done well for his physique. Underneath his clothes are a body covered in small but prevalent muscles; this is to say, if one were to punch him in the stomach, the opponent would feel him. His hands are calloused from his training and his feet rough on the bottom. He does bear one scar, a jagged slice four inches across his left bicep, acting as a reminder why you should block a kunai attack, even if the blade looks rather small. Aoki's prefers whites and lighter shades of gray and silver in his attire. He tends to wear long pants, usually black or gray, and a long-sleeve shirt regardless of the weather, along with open toe sandals, black in color. To carry his ninja tools, Aoki prefers to wear a cloak with pockets sewn on the inside over vests or tactical gear. Finally, Aoki can rarely be found without his Amagasa atop his head, to both shield his face from the rain, as well as to store senbon in case the need for them arise. | Oe is more than just the personality opposite to Aoki; he also looks different than him, at least first glance. Where Aoki's vibrant blond reflects the sunlight, Oe's dull black seems to absorb it, leaving his face in a looming shadow. It doesn't help that Oe rarely lightens up, giving him a rather looming visage at all times. Despite this, a keen eye will notice the similarities between him and Aoki that really mark them as brothers. His blue eyes, while not as bright as Aoki's, can still be seen beneath the bangs, which is cut in a similar style, a mop atop his head. He too was gifted with sharp features, with a small nose and thin lips, along with barely noticeable ears. Oe does lack some of the body weight like his brother, giving his face a more stretched look Oe stands an inch shorter than his brother, a mark of his premature birth and lack of physical development being the guest twin. His overall figure, similar to his face, is stretched, as he is only packing one hundred and twenty pounds on his equally lanky frame. He too has pale skin, though it is more prominent due to his jet black hair; together, they give him a rather ethereal appearance in the sunlight and a ghastly appearance in the shadows, notions that are only enhanced by his special union with Aoki. Where his brother stands tall, though, Oe is prone to slouching his shoulders, making him look even shorter than his brother. Oe's movements are also more awkward than that of Aoki being less familiar with his functioning body. Overall, Oe's body lacks the same physical hardness that his brother's had garnered over the years. This is due to the fact that he is rarely in his own body, and when he was, he focused his training elsewhere. Thus, his lanky frame is of a less imposing physique; if his shirt were to come off, his muscles would be less defined, his ribs giving out a very slight outline against his skin. His hands were soft, more used to rubbing against one another in handseals than against a kunai. Oe does not even possess a scar to mark him as one who has faced combat of any sort. Oe sense of fashion both mirrors and acts as the inverse to his brother. Though he is often wearing the same clothing as his brother when his union with his is broken, if given a chance, Oe will often change into darker clothing; he enjoys dark grays and blacks, only encouraging the notion that he's Aoki's shadow. He too will take a cloak over the typical attire of a shinobi, though he does not wear an Amagasa; instead, he'll use the hood of his cloak, if there is one, otherwise he'll go with his head bare, unwilling to let the rain distract him |
