Deep Shadows

Effect: This Jutsu creates a deepening and darkening of shadows in the area.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: ---
Description: Affects anyone within 20 meters radius. The user is able to perform this technique on the target they touch. The duration of this technique lasts for 50 minutes per class level. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. This Jutsu doesn’t actually create shadows; it just makes existing shadows much larger and darker, and enhances them so they even interfere with low-light vision and darkvision. The shadows affected by this Jutsu provide 1/4 concealment to anyone within them or 1/2 concealment to anyone seeking the cover of the enhanced darkness. If the Jutsu is performed on a small objects that is then placed inside or under a light-proof covering, the Jutsu’s effects are blocked until the covering is removed. Deep shadows is countered by any light Jutsu of equal or greater rank.
Limit: Must know the Glamour Perception.

 

    The young ninja had been vigorously studying the grimoire-like book he had checked out from the Kusagakure's library. An old book with a title that was so diminished by time it was illegible. When Inoryu realized that it especially focused on genjutsu, he checked it out immediately. His dreams of becoming the village's master spy and genjutsu artist may be realized through the knowledge this book had to offer.
    His day started in the front yard of his house, that vagrant place for concentration. He flipped through the pages of the book carefully. Some pages threatened to fall from the tongue of the book with the faintest of tugs from his fingers while flipping through the pages. Here's something, "Ninja Art: Deep Shadows Technique." 
    I would need a practice buddy for this one, he sighed. Too bad I didn't make a single friend in the Ninja Academy. Guess I'm just not good at that sort of thing. He stood up and stretched his arms out towards the sky. He looked up and saw the azure landscape with blots of moving clouds behind his outstretched hands. 
    "Well, I'm off," he told his parents and shut the sliding door. In order to learn this technique he would need a mind. Willing or unwilling. He had to go out into the grasslands and find a creature to work on. He made way down the mowed path and followed it all the way out of the village. Inoryu followed it until he reached a crossroads. He took the path towards the jungle, Obviously, I'm going to need shadow.  He opened the book and studied the technique as he went. 
 
    It was a buttery day. He continued on until the blades of grass disappeared, and a land of thick trees and vines appeared in its stead. Inoryu's guard was up. He also observed the amount of shadow he could see. There are shadows everywhere.
    Suddenly he felt heard something of a large beast's feet by the cracking of twigs lied on the jungle floor. Inoryu sheathed a kunai as he spun to face a terrible creature. He leaped back and dodged the vicious beak. He couldn't believe what he saw. An elongated neck that connected a large bird's threatening visage to its large, round body. It had wings, but by the looks of it, they weren't for flying. This bird was a runner. It darted towards Inoryu, And it looks like I'm on the menu. Inoryu began to retreat. They darted for almost 20 meters when the mighty bird has closed in on him almost to the point of attack. Inoryu strung through 6 handseals, and as the giant bird attempted a straight forward hit with its beak, Inoryu pivoted and split to two, one pivoting to the right, the other to the left. The bird stopped, confused at the sight of two Inoryus. As Inoryu flanked, he threw a handful of 6 shuriken, two in every space between his fingers. 5 of 6 of them hit. It also gave away his position. But Inoryu was surprised that the bird was still confounded with his double. He took advantage by throwing his kunai as he halted his flanking run. The kunai sunk deep into the bird and its legs gave out. The illusory Inoryu vanished into thin air like a large ripple was sent through it. Inoryu stood still, calming his accelerated heartbeat with deep breathing.
    I reacted to rashly...if I'm going to train this technique, I need to subdue the creature not kill it. Try again. Inoryu recovered his kunai while carefully watching the reaction of the ferocious bird to negate any doubt that it was not actually dead. It was. The shuriken were irretrievable and he had lost the one he missed with. He put the kunai back in its slot. I could do this.
    Inoryu looked around and realized that he had lost his mental positioning within the jungle. He leaped between the trees ever upward until he was standing on the topmost tree branch of the jungle. He was surprised to see some giant insects hovering above the jungle. He knew exactly where he was at. He could still see where the grassland is towards the hidden village. He landed on tree branch after tree branch before finally making it to the jungle floor. There another one of those savage birds appeared.

    Inoryu stood still. The colors of his clothes were meant for him to better camouflage with the jungle and grasslands. But it seemed this bird saw him perfectly. It charged straight for the young genin. The bird aimed to jab its beak through his shoulder and had no choice but to take it. The beak shot through his shoulder. Inoryu grimaced through the pain.
    He unsheathed a kunai from his bag, the same bloodied kunai from the bird before, and he struck it upwards through the birds jaw and ripped it through its lip with the strength of his good shoulder. The bird backed off and screeched in agony. It was in a state of panic. He wanted to use this opportunity to try the technique, but he found it difficult to sift through the handseals with his shoulder injured. He had no choice to but to retreat. He retreated out of the jungle and made way for the hospital. Despite the situation, he didn't panic. He knew that he would be alright. But he had to pause his training for the time being until he was well enough to try the technique again, I'll get it soon.

Adherent Flanker

Description: Affects anyone who sees the touched target. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 rounds per class level. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. An illusory replica of the subject appears in an area within 10 meters of the subject. The replica’s defenses are identical to the subject’s, except that it has 5 Armour Points per User's Class Level. Whenever the subject moves, it can move its replica an equal distance. The replica cannot take any actions other than moving, but the replica can flank with the user's allies. When the subject deals precision damage to a creature they are flanking with their replica, that damage is increased by 6 Armour Points. A creature that interacts with the figment may attempt a Save to disbelieve it. A creature that disbelieves the figment cannot be flanked by it.
Limit: Must know Figment Perception.

 

    Weeks had passed since Inoryu had traveled out into the grasslands of Kusa no Kuni, but because of his latest genjutsu training he was all the more wise. He has gained an exponential amount of experience and he wasn't planning on stopping there. Since gaining a more profound understanding of genjutsu, it was time to put it into practice. First were the handseals. According to Inoryu, that was the easy part. Next it was the chakra distribution. It was true it has been a while since practicing that kind of skill, but he had always had a natural talent for it in the academy and it came off as no problem. Naturally a genjutsu type, his chakra control was expertise. Then it was targeting the area around him. Another person appeared standing two meters beside him, an exact replica of Inoryu smirking. 
    It's the same method as instant diversion, Inoryu noted, They are virtually the same technique. I like it. The real Inoryu smirked as well and both he and his replica took off in a sprint through the grasslands. It was an excellent feeling watching his replica sprint beside him even at his top speed. 
    Birds took flight as Inoryu and his replica ran past them, startling them. He stopped and observed the jungle before him. It looked like a dark and brooding place considering the fight he had with the beaked terror that caused him to retreat to the hospital. Then he realized he wasn't afraid at all and the fear seemed to dissipate. Time to take this replica out for a spin. 
    Inoryu and his clone ran through the jungle. He ran his own route leaping and vaulting over obstacles, and his replica did the same; finding his own way while flanking all the same. Inoryu stopped and the replica halted. So it appears the range limit of this jutsu is 10 meters in width. That's how far apart we can be. And the replica makes its own conscious decisions about the obstacles in its way, he recalled the replica using its hands to swing forward and it landed in a crouched position on large tree root before continuing to sprint. Inoryu watched as the replica then faded away with a waving motion into thin air. And it appears that the time limit is 30 seconds. Alright, next test. 
      Inoryu summoned his replica a second time and it stood across from him five meters away. Inoryu unsheathed a kunai and his replica stood to face him boldly unarmed. Inoryu threw the kunai at his replica and it stuck into its torso, What? Inoryu released the technique and the replica along with the kunai vanished to reveal that the real kunai had shot through the illusion and was on the jungle ground ten meters away. Very deceptive. That even almost had me fooled. Inoryu summoned the replica again and this time shot two kunai, one after the other. The first one stuck as expected and the second one caused the figment to vanish. The kunai could clearly be seen continuing its passage of descent and it landed beside the two other kunai. There were now three kunai lied on the jungle ground ten meters away. Inoryu went over to salvage them, satisfied with the study of the technique. This jutsu could really come in handy. And for added measure, I could also use this technique on a target that I touch giving that target the same advantages. Inoryu looked up trying to find specs of light that had seeped through the jungle's trees. There were none, It also stated that the target would receive a more critical blow if caught off guard by the adherent flanker. This jutsu appears to be very useful.

    Well I guess it isn't truly mastered until I try it out in a real life situation. Inoryu traversed deeper into the forest when he spotted a Beaked Terror feasting on a small animal. This time, you're my prey. The Beaked Terror was 20 meters away, too distracted by its meal to notice Inoryu. The shinobi took the time to sift through the handseals, and a replica appeared beside him as he unsheathed a kunai. He took a moment to decide a specific point of attack. He then took off in a sprint with his replica steady beside him. They flanked to add a meter between them to further confuse the bird. 
    It happened sooner than Inoryu had expected. The Beaked Terror looked up from its meal to find Inoryu and his replica sprinting at him, and his confusion only led to it shrieking through the jungle. Before the terrible shriek had ended, Inoryu had thrust his kunai into the base of its neck and slashed it so the neck was still connected by the back half of its skin. The Beaked Terror fainted and the replica vanished into thin air. 
    Inoryu heard the steps of another creature rushing towards him. Realizing its death, the Beaked Terror must have called for help. Inoryu threw that kunai and two more and they seeped into the lively Beaked Terror's torso. The pain left it stunned and it halted its charge towards the ninja. Inoryu waited to regain his chakra and he sifted through a set of handsigns. His replica appeared beside him a second time and they rushed towards the Beaked Terror, each sprinting in an arch to confuse the foe. The Beaked Terror, stunned and confused, did nothing, and Inoryu landed a critical hit to its rib cage. The Beaked Terror fell over, too helpless to even fight back. As Inoryu retrieved his kunai and placed them back in its holster, it appeared the Beaked Terror lost morale and laid there peacefully on the jungle floor.

Mirror Image

Effect: Creates Illusory duplicates to fool opponents.

Description: Affects anyone who sees the user. May create up to 8 illusory doubles. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 minutes per class level. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. Several illusory duplicates of the user pop into being, making it difficult for enemies to know which target to attack. The figments stay near the user and disappear when struck. These figments separate from the user and remain in a cluster, each within 2 meters of at least 1 other figment or the user. The user can move into and through a mirror image. When the user and the mirror image separate, observers can't use vision or hearing to tell which one is the user and which the image. The figments may also move through each other. The figments mimic the user's actions, pretending to perform Jutsus when the user performs Jutsus, drink whenever the user drinks, and so on. While moving, the user can merge with and split off from figments so that enemies who have learned which image is real are again confounded. An attacker must be able to see the images to be fooled.
Limit: Must know the Figment Perception. Must know Instant Diversion.

    Now to try and take these clone jutsu a step further. He took out a slip of paper that he had kept in his pocket, learning the adherent flanker technique was easy, but this is a whole new level. This might be the most challenging thing I have ever done. He looked over his notes, studying every detail. This would be the third time that he had thoroughly gone through the details of the technique. He had taken these notes out of the precious grimoire he had returned to the library. 
    Challenging...and sophisticated. The execution, the specs, and the capabilities, Inoryu's eyes scanned over the paper scribbled with his notes. This jutsu is the most sophisticated jutsu I had ever attempted to learn. For one, all my techniques require six and hand seals, this one requires twice as many. 

    Inoryu took his time cutting off bark from the jungle's tree trunks until he had twelve in all, then he came up with a simple system to help him memorize the necessary hand seals of the jutsu. He carved symbols into the bark and placed them consecutively on the ground following the necessary order of hand seals required for the technique. There, I'll memorize this in no time. Rat... he made the hand seal for the rat and continued through the course by following the instruction of the carved bark...Dragon....Rabbit...Hawk...Dragon, Sheep. He stopped after Sheep. He figured that in order to memorize the hand seals, he would have to start with just a few and keep repeating the few while adding additional hand seals, he ran through them again. Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon...Sheep He started over, Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep... He started over, Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep. 
    Inoryu looked down at the bark with the symbols representing the hand seals and looked at the next sequence. He figured an easier way to learn the hand seals necessary for this technique, he would need to memorize the first half, and memorize the second half following the first half. Then he would be capable of stringing them altogether. He counted the six hand seals he memorized and found it intriguing that he would want a break before learning the seventh hand seal. According to what he was used to, all of his jutsu required only six hand seals.
    There are still six more I need to memorize. He looked at the second half of bark sequence on the ground, Dragon, boar, pig, sheep, rat. He practiced this time executing the hand seals with his hands, Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep. Now to bring it all together. Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep. Now the second half... Pig, Dragon, Boar, Pig, Dragon, Sheep. This way is easier and more effective. Now I just have to memorize the second half after the first and I could string them in one long sequence. I should have no problem. I still have to practice the second sequence to memory and I will do that by stringing it after the first sequence I have memorized. Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep... Inoryu glanced at the carved bark he lied on the jungle floor and remembered the second sequence without having to follow instruction, Pig, Dragon, Boar, Pig, Dragon, Sheep. Well, that did it. Now to do this until I have the second sequence, and thus the whole sequence memorized, and to do it all without glancing at the bark for reference. Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep, Pig, Dragon, Boar, Pig, Dragon, Sheep. Again. Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep, Pig, Dragon, Boar, Pig, Dragon, Sheep. Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep, Pig, Dragon, Boar, Pig, Dragon, Sheep. Okay, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. If I have already come all this way for just the hand seals, I'm sure I can move on to the next step. And when I return to practice the hand seals, it should register to memory.

    The next thing I have to do is focus on making figment replicas in the area surrounding me. I am familiar with these types of jutsu so it shouldn't be too hard. Inoryu noted his environment. It was humid but there wasn't any perspiration on the jungle vines. The soil was sturdy, although he expected to find mud maybe a quarter of a meter below him. The jungle was dense and dark between the trunks of the ancient trees and the shadows of the branches of the leaves above him and all around made the jungle appear smaller than it really was. If he were to make this technique believable, he'll have to create the illusory replicas around him less than a meter apart. Let's give it a go. Inoryu looked down at the bark he carved for reference and he knew he wouldn't have trouble with the hand seals after the reminder. Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep, Pig, Dragon, Boar, Pig, Dragon, Sheep. He focused on the surrounding area that he targeted for his jutsu and held the last hand seal. To his amazement, illusory replicas seemed to come to life around him, a total of eight of them appeared out of the humid air holding the sheep hand seal. I did it. Inoryu released the hand seal and the replicas did the same. There are eight replicas, plus me. 
    Inoryu stood at ease and his replicas did the same, he pulled out the piece of paper from his pocket and all of his replicas mimicked him like mirrors pulling out their own pieces of paper. They all looked around astonished as Inoryu was before nodding their heads down to read the paper. Real time mimicry. He scanned the notes quickly, So, this technique lasts for five minutes according to my level of strength. Inoryu finished reading his notes and they all folded their papers and tucked it into their pockets. Now for the fun part. 
    In his mind, Inoryu perceived a cluster formation, three illusory replicas in front, three in the middle, and two in the back standing beside the real body. This way the opponent will have numerous targets to attack, and this formation gives me powerful offense capabilities with the already defensive measure. And I could hide in them and because they mimic my movements real time, the opponent won't be able to see through the illusion. He merged with the last three illusory replicas changing the formation to three, two, one, with the one containing the real Inoryu and two illusory Inoryu replicas merged. The real and an illusory replica flanked around the three two formation, the real Inoryu on the right. The Inoryu replica on the left merged with the front left replica, and the Inoryu on the right was the real one. He pretended to throw a fist and he leaped back to reveal another replica to stand in his stead. He then merged with the replica on the right of the frontal formation. Then the replica leaped back to a replica in the middle formation, and lastly another replica leaped out and took formation on the last line. The Inoryu that stood alone merged with another mirror image behind him. Which one was the real one? he thought to an imaginary foe. Inoryu stood at ease and smiled. The real Inoryu was in the second line of the formation on the right. And on the top left  and right of the formation was still two mirror images merged meaning that there were three visible replicas, and two merged replicas on the wings. He released the illusion and all of the replicas vanished. All of that dream training has paid off...and I'm still not finished with it yet. Rat, Dragon, Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep, Pig, Dragon, Pig, Boar, Dragon, Sheep.

    Inoryu returned to memorizing the twelve hand seals that were lied down on the jungle ground. He practiced going through the motions as well using muscle memory to help him memorize the seals. There was the sound of disturbed soil, like a creature so heavy that it touched upon the mud below the hardened surface. Inoryu looked up and a large face approached him from the shadows before him, a face that was a a meter and a half wide with large tusks coming from the underside of its upper lip. It came closer out of the shadows and revealed itself to be a Behemoth.

Behemoth

Location: Jungle and River Regions

Preparation: The gatherer may harvest the oil form a Behemoth’s skin and bottle it immediately for later use.

Special: In the Jungle and River Regions there is an eleven percent chance that a user is capable of finding such a creature.

Description: Picture Behemoth’s resemble normal hippopotamuses in size and shape, as well as having the same diet. Their skin is water proof and their mouths are quite large to accommodate their powerful tusks. These beasts are extremely wary of humans and will attack at the first sign of an attacking movement from one. Oil from a Behemoth’s skin can be used to soothe second and first degree burns.

    Inoryu backed away slowly but the behemoth was steadily closing ground. Though it wasn't threatened or aggravated to attack, Inoryu didn't want the creature to be any nearer than it already was. He continued to back away, his eyes never leaving the critical threat. He commenced the hand seals to the new jutsu slowly and cautiously to not startle the behemoth. Rat...Dragon...Oh man...Rabbit, Hawk, Dragon, Sheep... Pig, Dragon, Boar, Pig, Dragon, Sheep.
    Four illusory clones appeared in thin air and the Behemoth charged with a mighty roar. Inoryu and his figments all avoided the Behemoth's attack with a roll. He watched as the behemoth turned to charge again. It had a choice between 5 targets. Inoryu was the second to the right, and the Behemoth charged for the clone second to the left. Inoryu unsheathed four kunai and shot it at the Behemoth. Each kunai hit the target and stuck in its side. I'll wear it down with this. The figments all unsheathed four more kunai mimicking Inoryu real time like a mirror. The behemoth charged again, targeting the clone to the left of Inoryu. As the behemoth charged through the figment, he threw his kunai and the four kunai stuck into its body. Two figments gone, two remaining, but I can still fight. This time he unsheathed eight kunai, four for each hand, and the clones mirrored him holding the kunai and crossing their arms before their chests prepared to throw. Inoryu nudged closer together with a figment to allow himself more freedom to counter despite which target it chose to go after. This time though, the behemoth charged right for him. Inoryu ran into the figment clone to the right of him, and they separated. Due to the behemoth's momentum, he continued after the same target it chose before, just as Inoryu suspected and instead of Inoryu being killed, it was another figment vanishing into thin air.
    The behemoth charged again, this time with the intention to scatter Inoryu and the figment rather than trying to hit one. He charged through without hitting either. It turned again and charged at the last figment. This gave Inoryu the opportunity to flank the behemoth and throw all of his kunai. The eight kunai stuck into the behemoth's side, causing him to fall before hitting the last figment, stunned from the pain. Inoryu took a deep breath. The figment approached the Behemoth. Inoryu was relieved that the behemoth was too stunned to attack. The figment vanished.

Description: Can be learned by an Animal. A failed check indicates that the character is oblivious until the thing is pointed out to him. This skill is important for ferreting out advancing enemies or ambushes, generally real-time events and actions occurring, versus scrutiny, which covers static objects or areas. A Game Master may roll an Observation skill check for a Character any time there is an NPC, monster, event or happening that a character might notice, even if he did not specifically state that he is monitoring his surroundings. Characters are capable of noticing any event within their perception. Observation reveals only facts, not motivation. If user has 25 or more Ranks in Evidence Analysis user gains a Synergy Bonus +10 to Observation. Each time learned user gets 1 die roll to increase the skill.

Ear for Detail
Not only can the user detect noise, but they are also an expert at identifying its source. The user hears not only the scrape of a boot against the stony floor, but also recognize the pace of the footsteps and the distinctive sound of the footwear (or lack thereof), allowing the user to identify someone, or know if they have never met them, before they come into sight. If the user has met them before, the user recognizes the creature's stride and know exactly who approaches. If the user has never met the creature before, they know they have not met it but the user does know what type of creature it is and what type of footwear, if any, it is using (or if it is using some other form of movement). In order to do this the user must actively attempt this as a movement and beat the Observation check by 30 or more. Failure to beat the check by 25 or more means misidentifying the source of the sounds.

    Inoryu headed deeper into the forest and he had never felt more vulnerable and alone. He kept an open mind and a steady focus on his surroundings as he went, leaping from branch to branch. He figured the safest way to travel would be through the trees and quickly. He made an abrupt stop and made double sure he knew what was happening around him. Not only was he in the jungle with hungry and deadly predators, but the police core might have sent tracker nin after his tail as well, he must be cautious. His took a visual of his surroundings and there was nothing that alerted him. His ears were his next focus. He could hear the buzzing of flying insects far off, but it was not a threat. He heard a gnawing sound of a creature maybe ten meters in front of him on the jungle ground. He was sure that he hadn't noticed Inoryu because the noise persisted and hadn't moved.
    He thought there would be no problem fleeing passed it through the air. His sense of smell was next. The humidity of the jungle was all his nose could pick up on. As for his sense of touch, he was glad he didn't feel any kind of creepy crawlies anywhere on his skin. And if he was in a genjutsu he was sure he would pick up on it.
    His observation check complete, he went forward fast, so fast that he flew passed the small hoard of three foot long cockroaches. He noticed that they were feeding on a dead jaguar.  I have to stay on my toes here. I'm still in their territory, those three aren't the only ones around.

     Inoryu traversed through the jungle when his ears picked up a buzzing sound from a large creature hurtling towards him. He glanced to the right and noticed another one of those cockroach things he saw before flying right at him. This is kill or be killed. 
    He used the oncoming branch to halt his trajectory and he began falling fast until he landed on another branch and continued forward, I won't lose my sense of direction because of this thing, that's my priority. And, Inoryu squinted his eyes, I'm not as weak as before. As he landed on the branch below, he used that moment to draw a kunai that he wrapped with an explosive tag. He then leaped forward before the cockroach can get a hold of him. Still on my tail. Good. Then this won't be wasted. Inoryu slightly slowed down his speed and aimed for a branch 7 meters in front of him. When his foot touched the branch he pivoted to face the flying cockroach and he waited for perfect timing. He threw it and it stuck onto the cockroaches neck area and Inoryu fell again and caught the branch with his hand out of the cockroaches' high speed momentum, "Release!" was his war cry, meant to be heard throughout the whole jungle, and an explosion followed from a safe distance behind him that blew the cockroach to pieces.

    Inoryu took a moment to stop and observe his surroundings. He thought it wise to keep still for a moment and try to decipher whether the sound of the explosion would cause the creatures of the jungle to flee or come. Either way, I must get to higher ground. He drew three more kunai wrapped with explosive tags for good measure. He kept one in each hand and one in his mouth and he made his way running up the tree trunk avoiding the branches as he did so. He halted to grinding stop and took careful note of his surroundings. He was standing sideways on the tree trunk, his dirty blonde, single braided hair was falling along the side of the tree trunk. He turned his head to the left, the kunai with the tag tied around it might be noticeable to any intelligent individuals so he let it fall out of his mouth and he caught it in his hand to act as though he returned them to his butt bag, but he actually hid it out of sight by strapping it to his pants. So far he found nothing in the shadowy and distant jungle. He looked to his right, and again, nothing but jungle. All that was above him were more branches and vines. The leaves were so far up that all he could see above was darkness. The light that managed to seep through were just tiny rays of light that didn't reveal much. The colors of jungle seemed to turn a slightly darker shade. He couldn't imagine what night time would be like, Absolute darkness, he thought. He returned the three kunai to his butt bag and continued east.

    Inoryu saw a yellow-orange coat with open, black, circular patterns. The feline must have been seven foot in length, its body slender and nimble. It turned around slowly to face Inoryu. The shinobi wanted to hide, but he dared not let the cat out of his sight. This wasn't something he could hide from, and probably not something he could run from either. The cat stood on guard, steadying itself in a pouncing position and baring its fangs. Inoryu felt a feeling in his chest that he couldn't describe in words. A surge of emotion that made him feel a different kind of relief, a "Thank you" to himself that was gratitude for spotting the jaguar while it was still more than 25 meters away. This gave him distance and time to react. He drew two weapons. A fine kunai in his left hand, and his sickle in his right hand. The jaguar charged, and Inoryu waited until the feline gained enough momentum that his kunai would be a direct hit. He threw it and but the kunai severed the jaguar's shoulder. The jaguar roared and pounced, its teeth and claws bared, and Inoryu struck it with his sickle with a single powerful blow. The blade ripped through the felines skull. He ducked and the feline's corpse rested on his shoulders. Inoryu pushed the feline aside and pressed onward, removing the sickle as he went. He could see that there was a light shining through the jungle over the yonder. That was most likely his destination. Almost there.

    Faster Inoryu raced to the light and for the first time in eternity, he burst out of the jungle and into the evening. Behind him to both sides were the landscape of the jungle, and before him was a rocky terrain going ever upward. Most of the mountain side was solid ground like rock. There were some patches of grass, but everywhere he looked there were large boulders. Some of these boulders were laid on what appeared to be moss, and others on the barren dirt ground. He wondered how loose the dirt was, it could prove dangerous as the degree of the mountain elevated higher. Nevertheless, he felt safer in the mountains. He was less likely to be sneaked up on by a predator without the cover of the jungle where the leaves above provide darkness, and the soft soil muted footsteps. Hear he would be able to hear a creature approaching from far a away, minus the birds. He would think of a plan to deal with them. And he can see far on all sides of him so he could easily discover stalkers. He felt more calm, and he felt more sure of himself staying in this terrain overnight. One thing that stayed in the back of his mind though were the police core. Had they taken chase? Had the ANBU gotten involved? The further away he can get from the village, the better. There was no plan of stopping, only to rest at night.

    Inoryu trekked upward through the mountain side. Scaling the mountain had thus far been subtle, the ground was still near level. He was more wary of the predators that might happen to cross his path. He kept still held the sickly in his hand, the same one that cut through the jaguar and ended its life. He had never been in the mountain region so he was completely shrouded in mystery. His senses now were his greatest ally and he kept them at an optimum level, his focus insoluble thanks to his thorough meditative training. All he could see were the mountainside and the jungle behind him, all he could hear were the sounds of his own footsteps pushing through the dirt. All that he felt was a chilling breeze that came and went as it please, he could taste the cold in the air. He could smell the scent of cold blood when the air was still. It's only going to get colder the higher I go, and the air will thin. If I'm going to survive through the night, I'll have to find shelter to keep me warm.

    Inoryu saw a bird flying above him towards the south. He dared not let an opportunity escape him while he was alone in the wild, Cupid Eye Jutsu. Suddenly it felt as if he was flying through the air as he became one with the bird's sight. The mountainous region seemed to be the same all over: ground, boulders, sometimes grass. The eagle continued to soar when Inoryu spotted something interesting. It was a house made of log, a possible shelter for the night, and it was only a few hundred meters away. Inoryu released the jutsu and took measure of the sun. It had begun to set, and he would be caught out in the wilderness if he continued his way. He turned and trekked for the house. He knew it wouldn't be long before he arrived.
