The next day Valerys expected to see the boy like she had the first day that she entered the forest. He did not appear, however, even by mid-day and Valerys was disappointed. Deciding that perhaps the boy was disappointed since she hadn’t been available for a couple days, she decided to search him out. The boy might have been wild, but she was fairly adept at tracking down people of interest. Valerys moved through the underbrush and stalked her way for quite a while, trying her best to track the trail that she had found — too small to be the wolves that she’d seen the night before. As she got further along the trail, however, she feared that she’d never find the boy. Just then she heard some yelling a while off. Valerys followed the sound, preparing herself by sending chakra to her hands in case of an attack. Moving as she was through the underbrush, Valerys was able to sneak up on the man who yelled into the forest. He was tall and had black hair, and wore a mask over the lower portion of his face, but the most disheartening aspect was that the boy sat below him.
The would-be assassin was holding a knife and pointing it at the boy. Valerys quickly began to weave handseals that she had once seen and was directing her chakra across the ground and toward the man. This technique had once been used on her by an old mentor from the docks, and she remembered the horror that it had wrought. In an attempt to assess the genjutsu she had agreed to undergo its effects, and watched as the skin had dripped from her body and organs fell out upon the ground. Even she, one of the most vicious individuals, could barely contain herself at the illusion. Now Valerys attempted to cast this same illusion over the eyes of this man, knowing that the horror would distract him enough to drop his knife or allow her to save the boy. It wasn’t that she cared much for the child, but so far he had said nothing to her — for all she knew he could be a future evil force. Perhaps one of the greatest if she trained him right? So she dedicated herself to saving him, for now, and let her chakra flow over the assassin’s body.
The boy laughed a little as her chakra began to encircle the man, who still had no idea what was going on. “What ya laughing at?” he shouted at the boy and then Valerys began to twist her illusion into effect. As her chakra ran into his brain it attacked neuron by neuron, lighting them up in proper sequences to make his vision see the skin dripping off his arms. “What the fu—” was all he had time to say before Valerys had his legs begin to go as well. She tried to do more, but this was her limit with the technique. The boy seemed to be keen to what was going on and began to stand up and waddle his way back into the forest. The man, so in shock at his own body falling apart, began to shriek and fell to the ground. Valerys snuck away from him and went a roundabout way to try to meet the boy in the woods. The assassin must have been stronger than she thought, however, because when she turned a bend — there he was.
“A genjutsu, huh?” he asked. “Really?”
“What did you want with the boy?”
“What does it matter to you?”
The man was still a good distance ahead, and so Valerys shunshinned backwards and started her handseals again. Her chakra rushed forward. This time I’ll finish the job, she promised herself and unleashed the genjutsu upon the assassin at full throttle.
