They came from the empty streets, the shadows that haunted every home. Bree was here to slay them.
Bree's hands shined with a dangerous edge of energy, ever ready to cut. She had expanded her standard scalpel to something far more dangerous. It cloaked her entire hand, more like a destructive flame than any metal tool. She stalked in without fear. No person had been harmed by a shadows, as the street had been evacuated at the first sign of danger. They were lucky.
That's how it went. Bree was led by Lady Listral, and the luck deity had handed in a wonderful day to do good.
Upon seeing the young girl upon their forsaken street, the shadows stretch from their comforts. They ripped themselves from attic alcoves and lightless chambers. Their faces grew horrific spikes for teeth. Together the shadows came down like a wave of wolves upon their prey.
Bree's eyes glowed with a characteristically emerald shine. She thrust forth her bladed hand and ripped into the first wave of shadows. The energy cut the dark creatures as if their hides were worn canvas. A resounding rip coiled throughout the air at the contact.
Bree pulled her first hand back. The wave of shadows came crushing together as they piled against their wounded vanguard. A second hand slashed against the heap of misty black. It was led by the pinky. The smallest finger led the way beside it formed the smallest field of chakra, and thus it was naturally the sharpest. Though Bree's technique had not been refined, the selective use of a smaller appendage was more than enough.
There were muffled screams as the formless creatures backed away from the wide slash. Bree's glowing eyes tracked them, and she immediately pursued.
One shadow stood its ground and faced the Child of Luck. It did not choose a form of fright, but rather shaped itself like an imposing man. This was a shadow who was filling to fight with technique. Its own hands became sharp spearheads to mimic the scalpels of chakra.
Bree willingly clashed against the opposing shadow. The black spear came against the blue knives. A flash of dim light came pouring from the point of contact. Concentrated shadows unraveled and mixed with the chakra that spewed from the young girl's fingers.
The combatants came apart as the force of their blow rippled through their arms.
Bree hurled through the air, then landed on the pavement in the form of a solid stance. It wasn't one for a formal martial art, but it instinctively felt more balanced. She sliced through the surrounding air with her scalpels to let it reshape to a point. Combat dulled them quickly, but raw spiritual energy was easy to mold back into place.
Again, she charged.
