Observation
Rank: "E"
Skill: Skill
Effect: This skill focuses certain powers of observation - sight, smell, hearing, and touch.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Can be learned by an Animal. A failed check indicates that the character is oblivious until the thing is pointed out to him. This skill is important for ferreting out advancing enemies or ambushes, generally real-time events and actions occurring, versus scrutiny, which covers static objects or areas. A Game Master may roll an Observation skill check for a Character any time there is an NPC, monster, event or happening that a character might notice, even if he did not specifically state that he is monitoring his surroundings. Characters are capable of noticing any event within their perception. Observation reveals only facts, not motivation. If user has 25 or more Ranks in Evidence Analysis user gains a Synergy Bonus +10 to Observation. Each time learned user gets 1 die roll to increase the skill.

The task at hand was simpler than expected.
Soki need only allow his eyes to wander the immediate proximity to the small table, using his hands and fingers to feel for a certain wire. They had done well to place them so out in the open, readily picked up by hands and forced to live their failure as the flames burst from the parchment. The smell of the oil continued to invade his senses as he felt around. But eventually, that same glint from the previous wire would present itself. It was here that Soki would begin the careful ministrations of a shinobi trained to tackle these anomalies. His breath held, lips pursed together. As he maneuvered to the end of the wire, the skill of observation kicked in once more.
He was able to see the slack, much like the previous trap. Whoever had set him up for demise had been the same to have wanted to destroy evidence at a moment's notice. Soki's wrist bent slightly as it reached the back of the table, allowing nimble digits to find just the edge of what felt like paper. He made no immediate attempt to remove it, instead following the line to its point of contact. His sense of touch kicked in, a mental alert sounding off at the feel of flint. So this was the scheme. It didn't take him long to unravel the wire, using his honed skill to do away with the irreversible effect it may have had.
As he stood to his feet and gathered the scrolls, Soki turned toward the next corridor that would lead him out of the room and further into this compound of sorts. He was far from finished in his exploration.
