Not all Shinobi end up Kage

His hand clutched his stomach, trying to keep the blood from leaking out too much as he ran through the knee high grass. Spike had been the first one to go. He probably hadn't felt much pain when he went. His large body had protected Nero from most of the explosion as the mine went off underneath him. Runner and Nero had been thrown clear with the explosion but Nero had hit his head on the way down. Runner was the second one to go, protecting his master until the end, although in vain. A kunai had embedded itself in Nero's stomach as Runner held off the unknown assailants for a moment before finally going down. Taking his friend's final sacrifice, Nero had run, nothing he was proud off but he was sure any other young genin in his position had done the same. The kunai had gotten loose along the way and clattered down somewhere as he escaped. Nero was the last to go from the trio of friends, sitting against a tree, clutching his stomach and finally giving in to the exhausted feeling that inevitably came with too much blood loss. "Just a quick rest before I head off again." Nero thought before closing his eyes forever.
