Shouta continued to analyze the packet as he moved over flat plains in the early morning. He had timed his exit of the gates with the rising of dawn so that he would be able to complete the mission and be back within the walls by the end of the day. He was wearing his typical garb, a black cloak with his hood drawn all the way up. He wore black pants with black boots and over his hands he wore black, leather gloves. Upon his face he wore a polished-white plague doctor's mask with reflective lenses for the eyes. The large pack that he typically carried with him was uncharacteristically absent. He tucked the packet away in one of his cloak pockets after he familiarized himself with the map. It was not too far from the location of the hidden village, actually, and he wouldn't likely have any trouble getting there.
His trip there was uneventful. He made the mistake of bringing no food or water and so by the time he arrived at the gem vein his stomach was grumbling. He was not happy with his mistake and he vowed he would never make such a one again. It only meant that he would have to expedite this whole process so he could return to the village and eat. He looked over the entrance to the vein. Referencing his knowledge in Geology (master level), he already saw several structural flaws in the cave. Likely due to the foreman's impatience and wanting to make the entrance big enough for his excavators. A poor choice. Shouta did not know much about engineering but he knew enough about the formation of caves and the rocks that made them up to know that cutting large holes in the side of rocks was not very good for the structure of it. Shouta entered carefully, knowing that even a collapse could be dealt with.
The main room of the cave was pitch-black dark. The industrial light-sources that the company had used were no longer running on the gas generators littered about. There were large machines, booms and lifts, to get personnel to the roof of the cave. Shouta was unsure what had made them all leave but if it truly was the failing structure of the cave then they were more daft than he had at first considered. The cave was not in great shape, to be fair, but a collapse was not going to happen here. He looked up, it was indeed a tall ceiling. It was going to be difficult to get that high.
Luckily, Shouta did not need to get that high. He would perform a string of handseals and the rocks above him would begin to break. He took cover under a nearby boom so the gems wouldn't fall on his head. He continued to do this processes until the ground was littered with gems and the ceiling was empty. Shouta supposed that there must be one to two hundred pounds of gems, far too much for him to carry alone. Luckily, he had the power of summoning lackeys to do this for him.
He exited the cave and converted some nearby dirt into mud. Performing along with it a shadow clone jutsu, two more Shoutas appeared.
"Mud clones to extract the gems and get them back to Otogakure. Then we get to eat."
The clones nodded at Shouta's command, and they each summoned 32 clones (creating more mud when necessary) for a total of 96 mud clones, enough for each to carry one to two pounds of gems in their hands. The army of mud clones entered the cave, one by one, and one by one they exited with gems cradled in their hands. The real Shouta headed the convoy back to Otogakure which he noted was very lucky to be close. This convoy would be an extremely ripe target for bandits. The first shadow clone was about halfway back and the second shadow clone was all the way in the back, following up the last clone. Shouta took no chances and all three of them activated Tasukeru to watch for any would-be predators. Luckily, they made it back to the village without much more incident.
