[Nakazo Ashikaga]

    Mixed among the urban sprawl of Amegakure lies an abandoned apartment building. As long as anybody can remember its been standing there, and for just as long its been left neglected; forgotten by its own people, alone in the rain. Yet it endures, still standing tall and proud, symbolic of this nation and the people who reside in it. Broken windows dot the outside, graffiti and vandalism fill the now empty halls and units where tenants once resided. Some sections are completely rain soaked and flooded, while others remain intact but for the peeling of its wallpaper and the cracked walls and foundations. All the windows and doors on the first couple floors are boarded up, but a Shinobi could find a way into the ruined building unseen.

    The rooftop of the building is in markedly good condition, which can perhaps be attributed to the fantastic drainage systems necessitated by the harsh weather of the Land of Rain. Largely sparse and open this location makes an ideal training ground for one looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of the village. Attached to the staircase that leads to the roof is an overhang that can provide some respite from the rain to those training at the top. Though not the tallest building in Amegakure the view and the solace it provides is a comfort to those training or simply relaxing and taking it all in.

Netou no Jutsu (Boiling Water Technique)

Description: By sending chakra into a body of water the user is able to make a drastic change in water temperature, sending it to the point of boiling. The water at this point can cause first degree burns to third degree burns, depending. This technique also can only effect a certain amount of water at a time.
Limit: Must know the Fire and Water release.

    Reaching the top of the staircase Nakazo breathed a sigh of relief and stepped out onto the rooftop. Long abandoned, the only way to the top was to climb the twenty story building step by step. The process was painstaking and tedious, but worth every bit of the effort for what it afforded him. It was a quiet place to hone his abilities while still being close to home, and it was under the rain he loved so much. Most people saw this old building and thought nothing of it beyond a ruin, but to Nakazo it was a treasure hidden in the rain. It was priceless.

    He walked towards the center of his new training ground while the rain beat down around him. The buckets he set up the previous day still remained, and were now full to the brim, spilling over with each drop. Five in all they were, and he estimated them to be about a gallon each. He moved the buckets around so all of them were touching each other in a circle. Nakazo sat down about ten feet away facing them, legs crossed, uncaring about how wet he was about to get.

    "Today I will make all five of you boil," he remarked, as if they could answer him.

    First he cleared his mind of all thoughts and doubts, thinking a blank slate was best to start his training. His mind was then filled with one singular idea, one ambition: to make all five buckets boil using chakra. Nakazo began making the hand seals for the boiling water technique, taking his time and making sure each one was perfect. He could feel his chakra begin to stir within his being as he pushed it outwards and towards his target. It left him as he finished the last seal and he knew instantly it was going to work, though whether it would work on the level he wanted it to was another question.

    Steam began to rise upwards from the water, followed by a slight hissing sound consistent with the technique. Bubbles began to form in the three buckets in center, and then a second later the water began to spin and slosh around with even more water spilling now. Another second and the three in the center were completely boiled and loudly announcing that fact to anybody on the rooftop. Evaporation mixed with the air in front of him blurring his visibility slightly.

    "Not good enough!"

    He willed the other two buckets to follow suit and boil, focusing solely on this singular objective. No matter how hard he wished it the remaining buckets remained the same, though the water was beginning to stir, something he had been unable to do before today. The other three continued to dance with the rain for a few more moments before the temperature began to drop and everything was back to normal.

    Nakazo relaxed, stood up and started pacing back and forth for a few moments to compose himself. All he could think about was how that Shinobi he met long ago was able to boil nearly twice this amount with no effort at all. It bothered him that he had to work so hard to accomplish what someone could do so easily, but he quickly pushed those thoughts of doubt out of his mind. That Shinobi got where he did through hard work, he didn't get it on his first try, and neither will I. I may not get it until my one hundredth try, but I will get it no matter how long it takes.

    This time standing up he faced the buckets again and began to clear his mind. Nakazo spread his legs slightly, put his hands out in front and began to make the hand seals for the boiling technique. His resolves was obvious, and he focused on keeping his breathing and his anger in-check. That familiar feel began swirling about inside of him, this time instead of letting it explode in a single burst he would release it slowly towards the buckets. As the last hand seal was formed the energy flowed outwards and began to change the water.

[Nakazo Ashikaga]

    Hours passed by as Nakazo continued his training, relentlessly performing the jutsu again and again, determined to learn through sheer effort and repetition. Each time he used the technique the water in the three center buckets would boil as usual but the remaining two buckets would only swirl and splash about. The water was moving faster and faster with each successive time the boiling jutsu was performed. I swear I saw some steam that time. Nakazo dropped out of his casting posture and walked over to the buckets, putting a hand in one of the outside buckets. He could only keep it in there for a few seconds before the heat became uncomfortable. Progress. The Rain Shinobi walked over to his pack, pulling out a bottle of water, and then sat under the overhang to take a breather.

    Sipping from his water he mulled over his training while the rain passed around him. It'll be night in a few hours, he thought, looking upwards at the clouds. For someone foreign to the Rain it would be hard to determine the time of day due to the perpetual overcast sky, but to a native it was easy, the clouds look different. He was getting closer and was feeling confident he would have it down soon. Nakazo glanced over at the water, you're mine. Taking a final sip he screwed the bottle cap back on and returned it to his pack. He pulled off his flak jacket and then the black long sleeve shirt underneath and placed it by his bag. His clothes were half sweat and rain water by this point and would only serve to get in his way. He took a couple deep breaths, cracked his neck and fingers and he returned to his task.

    Nakazo had worked on this technique many times over the years, but now the basics were becoming second nature to him. His hands were moving on his own, allowing him to allocate every fiber for his body and soul towards the task. He imagined his own chakra boiling inside, racing from his chest and out to his forearms, trying to escape as fast as possible. The seals now complete his arms extended out towards the target, and he visualized the boiling charkra floating through the air and entering the water. The palms of his hands felt warm, and he took that as a good sign. The energy begin to mix with substance and steam started to vent upwards. Evaporation was pouring out of all five buckets. I'm doing it!

    Still holding his arms with his palms pointed at the buckets he pushed out more and more chakra. The water was hissing now and each bucket was beginning to look like their was a miniature whirlpool inside of them. The steam and evaporation was increasing every second, and the water was spinning faster and faster. The buckets started shaking, knocking into each other and sploshed all over the soaked and sodden roof. Just a little more I'm almost there, Nakazo was visibly straining now as veins became visible alongside his temples. He focused on bringing another final burst of chakra out from his chest, swirling and heating it around inside himself before shooting it outwards.

    "Boil already!"

    The chakra hit the water and the buckets erupted violently. Almost boiling water spun in all different directions and collided as it was propelled upwards and outwards from its containers. A portion of it came towards Nakazo, who was so intent on his chakra control that he didn't notice until it was too late. It landed square on his chest and caused him to curse and cry out in pain as he danced around as the pain coursed through him. That doesn't get any easier to bear, he thought, his mind going back to the years when he was first learning the technique. I still have those scars, and now they're making friends. He grimaced and held his breath through the last few seconds of the pain and was now left with a dull throbbing under his collar bones.

    The buckets were mostly empty now but surprisingly were still intact. I have that at least, time for a break. He gathered up the shirt and flak jacket he removed earlier and spread them out before laying down. The buckets needed to fill up again and Nakazo estimated it would take at least a few hours before he could begin anew. The cool rain soothed his wound as he closed his eyes and started to drift off. I got cocky. I pushed it to far thinking I was right there when I should have been pacing myself. I lost control, but it won't happen next time.

[Nakazo Ashikaga]

    The sound of water overflowing woke Nakazo from his nap. The wound on his chest was the first thing he thought of as he sat up and took a look at it. The area was red and it was hard to assess the damage done with hardly any light, but he figured it would leave a scar, albeit a small one. Standing up now he noticed just how dark it was. I was asleep for hours, I sure needed it though. Thankfully there was some moonlight peeking through the clouds, and the neighboring buildings still had some lights on. He moved over to his supplies and found some spare pants and a shirt and as he was changing into them he was reminded of something a man had said to him once. Day and night passes in this country as it does anywhere else, but the rain always endures.

    "That's right. I'll continue until I have this down, I must remain stalwart and determined as my ancestors have before me. I will be like the rain, nothing will stop me." 

    His flak jacket was still wet but he put it over his clothes anyways, not wanting anymore friends on his chest. He replenished himself on some water and some nuts and berries he stashed in his pack before starting up again. The buckets needed rearranging after his last go at it, which he set back in their normal positions, careful not to spill any water. Nakazo readjusted his rain forehead protector before assuming his position in front of the water and beginning another attempt. He felt more confident this time, I practically had it, I'll get it right here, though he conveniently left out them exploding in his thought process. Getting them all hot was one thing, keeping them in their bucket and away from himself was another.

    Nakazo went through the casting motions in record time. I'm getting faster. The water in all the buckets began swirling around, or so he thought. It was hard to see now in the dark and he wasn't quite sure where he was in terms of getting the water to boil. Damn, this is a lot harder in the dark now, he focused on sending more chakra out into the water, thinking it wasn't enough. It coursed through his body and then began permeating out of his palms at a rapid pace. A distinct sloshing sound was evident now and he thought he could see steam rising but he still wasn't sure if it was enough.

    He took a few steps forward so he was now within five feet of the buckets. The water was definitely swirling at a much faster pace than before, approaching the speed it was when he blew it up. More and more chakra was pulled up from his reserves and sent through his arms and then to the water. He thought only of fire and began to will the liquid to boil. Nakazo could feel that he was reaching the limits of his chakra output and was dangerously close to running out but he pushed through it, determined to finish what he started. I'm almost there, just a little more! Another wave of energy was sent into the water, almost causing his knees to buckle under the exertion.

    The air started hissing around him, and he could feel some droplets of water splashing onto his face but he endured. The buckets starting knocking each other again, threatening to explode. Not again! I need to slow the flow of chakra it's too much. Nakazo imagined tightening a valve, controlling the amount flowing out of his body to about fifty percent. It was almost too late though; the water continued swirling violently, and he was sure it would explode again. He could stop now and run from the water, avoiding certain injury and try again later but being so close to success spurred him on. He was going to do this now, regardless of the risk. What's one more scar?

    A mental image of the valve was brought up again, and he focused on tightening it even more than before. It took more effort to control ones chakra than to let it loose with abandon and the ordeal was draining, he didn't have much left in him. In his mind his hand was twisting the valve more and more tighter. He needed to stop the flow enough so that the water would stay under control but needed to keep a small amount still available so as to finish the jutsu. Nakazo estimated he was only using ten percent of his chakra as his left leg gave out, leaving him down on one knee. Closing his eyes he focused solely on the task at hand, ignoring the water, ignoring the pain, just keeping that ten percent flowing outwards at a steady pace. It all happened in seconds but it felt like minutes. The buckets stopped knocking, and a loud hissing noise, consistent with boiling water, was audible. Nakazo wasn't sure if he had succeeded in turning all the water and was afraid to open his eyes.

[Father 'Suke]

‘Suke entered the abandoned building, a subtle smile to his lips as he walked about this abandoned place. There was something of which he had a bit of time for and the reason to get here to begin with was the start of his own venture of becoming a carpenter. The goal of what he wanted fully was the absolute ability to continue his knowledge and skill in carpentry so to advance better in life. It was the goal so to advance it he arrived here at this run down building. A place that was in all hopes a better locale for himself to say the least.

Entering here with just a few things on hand he approached as carefully as he could. Given the fact that he came in here to train up but at the same time he was unsure how stable the ground was. His gimp leg doing a slight slide along the earth as he moved with a slow pace, not too much to be a hindrance but enough for it to be shown his leg was injured. Over his dead eye was something else as well, a sniper mono-goggle to hide it being a bad eye. Overall it functioned like an eyepatch while he did have to work around it most days.

Over his abdomen was his kunai harness, holstered with ten kunai and hiding over it was the black shihokushō with its own equipment inside. A prismatic compass, a known world map itself, and a small scroll with some special links to his own medical summoning. Over this was his kage haori, a white cloak covering his black shihokushō and hakama pants. This haori harnessed forty-one senbon, ten smoke grenades, hundred sixty exploding tags, and eighty locking tags. On his hip was his special sword, the Kyuushi, as he limped into the building and looked around curiously, unsure if he was truly alone.

    His eyes opened slowly and moved up from the base of the buckets to their tops. Nakazo was pleased to see all five boiling, and instantly a wave of satisfaction washed over him. I finally did it, about damn time, he smirked, continuing to study the containers. A portion of the moon looking through the clouds was reflected in the water, to Nakazo it looked like it was attacking it, violently lashing out. A few moments later the effects of the jutsu began to die down and the boiling stopped. He continued watching the water until it was perfectly still. Satisfied with the results of his effort he headed towards the overhang, gathered up his possessions, and made his way down the staircase, dreading the many steps before him. When he made it back to his residence he jumped into bed and started to fall asleep immediately. The rigors of the day were behind him, yet he resolved to return to the building tomorrow and continue his training. The thought brought a smile to his face.

Suiton: Tottei No Jutsu (Water Release: Art of the Breakwater)

Effect: The user creates a wave of water in front of them to ward off techniques from the front.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: User must know the same level of this technique as the technique they wish to affect. For the user to block a Fire and Lightning techniques, the user must know this technique one rank above the technique they wish to block.
Description: The user performs this technique right after they perform the handseals for it, the user will whip their hands up into the air and have them meet near the level of their head, creating a sort of "v" or wedge shape in the air. Once this is done, water will rise up from below the user to create this same shape. This is done just as a long or medium range technique is flying towards the user, this technique will cut the technique in half so that the two sides fall harmlessly on either side of the user. This technique works in steps, if the user wishes to cut a "D" level water technique, the user must know the "D" rank version if this technique, and so on.

    It was well after midday by the time he rose. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes he stepped out of his bed and made himself a large breakfast. He was still feeling some of the effects of yesterday on his body, and it was glad for the extra food. With that taken care he stored some essentials in his pack: water, snacks for later, change of clothes, put on his butt bag containing mostly shuriken, and began making his way towards the abandoned apartment again. He was growing fond of the place. The successful training session of yesterday was at the forefront of his thoughts, and Nakazo hoped to have many more. He did a quick check of his current chakra levels as he walked across the street. I'm at about 80%, not bad considering, he figured, given how hard he pushed himself.

    Making it to the building he walked around back where he knew one of the boards were loose. He slid it out of place, turned sideways and stepped in and then replaced the board just as it was. The fresh smell of rain outside was replaced with a damp and stuffy stale smell on the inside. Nakazo hurried to the staircase and began to climb, he would be glad to make it to the top and be outside and on the roof again. As he made his way up he paused for a moment to listen. He heard a noise. What was that? Is somebody else here? He was about halfway to the top but with the echo of the empty building it was hard to tell exactly where the noise was coming from. Above or below whatever it was stopped making noise, and Nakazo continued climbing. He was now acutely aware of just how much noise he was making on the staircase. If someone else is here, they'll know where I am. Probably just a rat.

    He reached the top, emptied and slide the buckets off to the side to make more space on the roof, and set his pack down under the overhang. The rain wasn't so bad today which was a good thing Nakazo mused, anticipating he would actually be moving with this training exercise. The drier the ground beneath me the better. Making his way to the center he recalled all he had read and seen of the jutsu he was about to train. It was a jutsu used for defense. Gathering water near your feet you would raise your arms up and the water would form a barrier in-front, blocking other techniques or attacks. At least it did when he had seen some of his upper class-men performed it.

    Nakazo first started moving his chakra around inside, to get warmed up. Slowly it coursed, starting from his chest and making its way up and down his arms and his legs. Finally, he shot his hands forward and began making the necessary seals. He concentrated on channeling the chakra out from his toes. Water from the roof around his gathered there. After that was finished he raised his arms up above his head, making a wedge formation. As his arms rose he willed out even more chakra into the water and forced it to shoot upwards at the same time. A thin wall of water rose about a foot high, reached its apex and then came crashing down lamely. Good thing nobody was around to see that.

    He repeated the process again and again. Each time it was performed the height increased by a few inches. Even though the water was reaching about three feet it still wasn't progressing fast enough for Nakazo. I'm just not getting enough output from my toes, he thought, there's got to be a better way to do this. Thinking he had it he assumed the position again and went through the motions. The chakra emanated outwards from his feet and into the water in-front of him as usual. Starting with his arms downward facing his feet he pumped additional chakra out through his palms. It's much easier to control chakra this way. He felt much more confident this time, the new method almost doubling his chakra output.

    His arms shot upward in the standard v-shape and the water followed suit. A six foot tall water barrier exploded upwards, getting just over his head before splashing back down at his feet. That's better, though it still doesn't seem very wide. It probably won't be able to block anything as it is now. I need to spread my chakra and the water out more before doing it next time. He took a few moments before starting up again. This time the technique was six feet tall and about a inch thick. Nakazo thought he was making great progress with this maneuver. Now it has to pass the test. It needs to be able to block something.

    Nakazo reached back into his butt bag and retrieved a single shuriken. He liked to live dangerously, and to him the best way to learn was through a trial by fire. Not the best for my personal health though, a sharp object in the face will probably hurt. Taking a deep breath he wound up the shot and then swung his arm outwards, propelling the shuriken forward and off the building. As it soared off in the distance Nakazo quickly made the proper seals and then cast his hunting shuriken technique, designating himself as the target. The weapon began to turn in a wide arc back towards him. He quickly began pushing out his energy and using the seals for the breakwater technique. His arms started to lift up and the water followed their path. The shuriken was mere feet away from him now and he prayed the technique would work and protect him.

‘Suke had arrived inside and with a calmness to him he moved steadily through the building but he was doing something rather than figuring out the noise for now. He had heard flash of steps up the sides and already was memorizing the scent but for now his gimp leg was doing something. Sliding a trail along the dirt floor, uplifting gritty muck and in place of it was a small dip. He was strengthening the leg back to its former glory to a point while also providing a bit of a defense to drainage inside the run down building. Water after all was beginning to collect in certain parts that he noticed.

So for the time being he moved the leg around, sliding the muck about as he pushed the ground out of the way and continued to function it to the side. There were drains built into this building but the muck long ago probably covered them up, so ‘Suke rather figured out a new idea once having made a slight trail for the rain. With a few hand signs he gathered up chakra and began leaking it through the bump leg as he slid it along once more, except this time he hardened the ground slightly with the earthen release and allowed the ground to form its own drain to the side of the wall.

Now why was all the flows leading to one side? It was all leading there as he formed around all the corners to be one large gathering spot, and the gathering spot led way to a few planks in the back of the building. Each and every flowing point was to lead there and then pool out of the building that way using the rise and flow methods to gravity. He smiled, satisfied with himself to protect the defenses of the buildings structure on the first floor with a steady touch of chakra streaming to harden the earth once more along it to make it flow easier once again.

Once the job there was done he stretched out his bum leg slightly, healing it with a small healing palms technique to allow it to react easier and better than it had ever done in the past. He didn’t have to live with it any longer, the punishment had went on long enough. He now moved up the steps following the scent with his nose as he could smell the remnants of a breakfast but that was all. Who or what had a breakfast was a curious thing and he was unfamiliar of the main individual scent as well. Whatever the case he moved onwards and upwards with a steady pace, up to the roof. He watched from the doorway to the roof, watched the young individual doing something among the roof top as he waited.

    His arms rose up just in the nick of time. The shuriken slammed into the technique and fell harmlessly to the side. Holding his breath the whole time he finally let it out, his heart beat slowing to its normal pace. Whew, cut that closer than I'd like. The weapon stopped clanging against the rooftop and Nakazo walked over to retrieve it. Quite satisfied with the results of the day he bent down, picked it up, and returned it to his bag. The rain was picking up now, and it would be harder to continue training in this spot. There's got to be a room in this building still in good condition. I'll try and find something sparse.

    As Nakazo turned he saw a shadowed figure standing in the door jamb. He froze some thirty or forty feet away. Instinctively his arm shot to the bag on his back and he latched onto a pair of shuriken. He kept his hand in the bag, still unsure of what he was seeing, but gripped them tightly, prepared to throw them at any moment. The only thing he could really make out was the height of the individual. Got to be seven feet tall at least, hard to tell exactly. He squinted his eyes trying to see more but the shadows of the doorway made that task hard.

    "Identify yourself!" 

    He relaxed his arm slightly since it appeared the person had been there for sometime. If they meant me harm they would have done it by now. Nakazo started to recover from the initial surprise and began to think more rationally. I was making a lot of noise, it's kind of my fault, he considered, though he thought it was more likely to draw a rat or a stray cat than an actual person. Then it dawned on him. This person is probably homeless and down on his luck, we are in an abandoned building after all. Nakazo gestured over to his pack with his other hand.

    "There's some food and water in that bag over there, take whatever you need. I think you need it more than I do."

Thus, even without the aid of Chakra, they can observe an individual and attempt to glean a valuable piece of information about them. This ability requires a skill Check and approximately one hour of observation for each thing studied. For example, if a User watched a man cutting wood for an hour, he could make a Know Ability Skill check. If successful he could learn that the man has a Carpentry Skill, can perform an amount of Movements per Round, or anything pertaining to the work they are performing. The user can apply this skill to nearly all statuses and abilities, as well as Skill Level Associated with a character. Look in Academia Skills thread found in the Skills and Traits Index for more information. If user has 25 or more Ranks in Evidence Analysis user gains a Synergy Bonus +10 to Know Ability By Observing for 1 hour this is considered as a Trivial Difficulty. ‘Suke was surprised when he was responded to in time that there was a rather interesting appearance in front of him. He had done his fair share of observing this boy though, understanding the workings and maneuvers he was pulling off anyways. The idea of him using water so rashly and such was curious but wasn’t too harsh to understand. Add to the factor of this boy now noticing his presence also had him curious while observing him. The subtle movement of his body with a hand to the back, perhaps into a bag as it were. This was different from training, this was pure instinct for the boy.

The Hachidaime merely chuckled to himself, lifting a hand up with a very friendly interaction to himself with a steadiness. He was perhaps too care free at times but from what he analyzed this boy hardly had a mastery over Ninjutsu so that presented a good opportunity to him. “I am a simple priest my young boy, nothing more.” To be completely honest it was the truth to a degree. He was first and foremost a father but also a priest when not treating himself as a past kage of this village. “It was a good thing to see, a youngster training.”

He amused himself, sounding like an old man but now he criticized to a degree. “However when performing Ninjutsu, perhaps less flourishing of your chakra in the future. It can get dangerous if you are not careful. Aside from the flourishing you also have a rather peculiar set up here, attempting to use water jutsu on a roof top isn’t the best idea. Some jutsu, especially an advanced form of what you trained can devastate this roof and you’d fall right in.” He knew enough about universal water jutsu techniques to know that much, granted he couldn’t perform any if he tried but it was something.

He sat down on a ledge, his kage cloak fluttering lightly with a breezy gust of rain. “So, who are you young shinobi?” He devised that much from the notice of his chakra, possibly just a genin of the village as well. ‘Suke hadn’t actually seen him around before, nor for that matter; many water users for the most part. There were a few of course but most were not users of water. He didn’t bother with the food at all, but he did provide a calm appearance while he hopefully had some of his words sink into the newish shinobi’s head.

[Nakazo Ashikaga]

    Nakazo listened as the stranger began talking. Hand still in his bag, he still wasn't quite sure what this person was capable of. He says he's a priest, he thought to himself, thinking he didn't seem like the type. There's a lot a don't know about religion, and he seems young for who he says he is, but I'll have to take his word for this. The newcomer still wasn't making any aggressive movements and seemed honest, so Nakazo let go of the shuriken inside his bag and relaxed his posture, trying to appear more open. Just a wandering priest it seems, I shouldn't have been so quick to judge. Though he didn't know much about the higher powers he knew that they probably wouldn't appreciate him attacking one of their own. Best not to get on their bad side.

    The priest continued, glossing over who he was and instead focusing on what Nakazo was up to. He began lecturing him about his use of Ninjutsu and the way he was using his chakra. He has a point, I do overdo it sometimes. The man went on to say that the use of such on jutsu in this location was a dangerous idea. Though Nakazo didn't like being lectured or told to be careful he realized the man meant well and that it was honest, true advice. He nodded back, accepting it in the manner in which it was gifted. The rooftop seemed secure but Nakazo knew it was weakened due to years of neglect and it was lucky that it hadn't collapsed ages ago, he was only accelerating it's decline. I'll be careful about what I do up here, the man is right, I'll liable to seriously hurt myself.

    "I'm Nakazo, Nakazo Ashikaga. Newly made graduate of the academy," he gestured to his forehead protector. "You have knowledge of chakra, are all priest schooled in such arts?" There were still many things Nakazo did not know about Amegakure, being a newly made Genin. He recalled seeing the Kage once long ago at a distance, but truth be told if one were to be standing right in front of him he wouldn't be able to tell whether or not they were who they said they were. "Thank you for the advice, I will remember it."

‘Suke was relaxed, ultimately because he knew there was very little that a newcomer could do to him but then again he didn’t appear that cocky. Instead he merely kept himself steady while sitting on the ledge and watching this boy keenly. Analyzing the abilities he has seen so far as it were so to understand this person more than already known to him. The boy was cautious, hand in a bag meant perhaps having some training in the martial arts styles out and about while the usage of chakra was apparent. Perhaps someone trained with a proficiency in Ninjutsu and Taijutsu perhaps.

There wasn’t any sign of illusion arts to his knowledge so he didn’t have to worry about that but then again there wasn’t any sign of medical or clan traits either so there were unknowns. He however watched and approved himself when the boy understood his advice. Perhaps he wasn’t a lost cause after all as a new shinobi of the rain village. The smile crept along ‘Suke’s face as he listened to the boy introduce himself as Nakazo Ashikaga. New from the academy and that was something ‘Suke figured but now knew for sure. That helped him out in the short run of things.

The Hachidaime continued however without missing a beat as he responded in kind, “Not all priests are knowledgeable of chakra, however I am a special priest as I am one who was trained here in this village. I am Ryosuke Hikaru, Hachidaime Amekage. It is a pleasure to meet you.” He spoke truthfully, watching this boy calmly as he studied his movement a tad more before pointing something out, “Shall I see you do something else as far as Ninjutsu goes? Perhaps I can train you in a few things to prepare you for the future.” He wanted to see more, and therein understand the boy more.

Description: : This is a water based technique. After forming the necessary hand seals, a black mist will emit from the user’s body and rise into the sky. Black clouds will form, releasing a flammable rain of oil onto the targets. The oil is easily flammable and can cause Katon techniques to backfire, hurting the Katon user with the technique instead. Affects Katon attacks used after this technique is used and lasts for two turns or until a Katon technique is used that burns the oil.

    Nakazo's gaze followed them man as he walked out from the doorway and sat comfortably on a ledge. The stranger's eyes seemed to be studying Nakazo, at least that how it felt to him. The man on the ledge continued to speak, looking relaxed as he did so. He introduced himself as Ryosuke Hikaru, the Hachidaime Amekage. This can't be the Kage, can it? Nakazo considered the statement for a moment, thinking back to what he knew about the current Kage. He was sure the current leader was a woman. He stopped for a moment in thought, remembering a vital detail. He said he was the Hachidaime Amekage, the current Kage was the Kyuudaime.

    Though to Nakazo the man seemed unassuming, the quiet confidence and relaxed air that he was giving off gave weight to his statement that he was a Kage. He did know about chakra, he's had experience with it at a high level, that much I can tell. Having exchanged pleasantries and with the information that this Ryosuke was the Hachidaime, he began to visibly relax, his guard down completely as he became comfortable with the situation. If Ryosuke really is who he says he is I shouldn't waste this opportunity, I could learn from him.

    Ryosuke suggested to Nakazo that he show him another Ninjutsu, and even offered to help train him in a few things with it. Nakazo thought about what he could show him, thinking back to some of the jutsus he was in the early stages of learning. He searched and searched his mind until he landed on the perfect one. This technique has been giving me trouble, but perhaps with the Kage's guidance I'll be able to master it. The jutsu he decided upon was the Kokuun no Jutsu, or Black Clouds. It allowed the user to create dark clouds in the sky which would then rain oil. Used in conjunction with another move Nakazo thought it could be quite an explosive one-two punch.

    "There is something you could help me with, any help you could provide would be much appreciated" he replied, stepping back from Ryosuke and moving to the center of the roof. "This jutsu shouldn't endanger us up here, unless something horribly wrong happens."

    Nakazo started going through the motions of performing the technique. He made the handseals and then focused on his water nature, willing it alive. The water release began to mix with his inner chakra. A few moments later Nakazo began expelling the energy, causing it to emit from his body and began the Kokuun no Jutsu. A mist began to form around him, though it wasn't black and oily like it should be, instead it was just standard water. Nakazo continued on with it anyways, knowing he still lacked that part of the technique, but wanting to show off what he could do regardless.

    The mist floated around his body and then began to move upwards, gathering together in one spot. A cloud began to appear out of the chakra mist, growing larger and larger as more of the energy latched out and merged with it. The cloud was finished now and hung about two feet in the air, directly over Nakazo. He put his sole focus on the cloud and tried to will it to change and spew out oil. The cloud expanded slightly and wobbled from side to side. He held his breath for a moment, thinking he had done it. The cloud began to rain, cool clear water mixed with the perpetual rain of the country and landed all around him.

    "I can get the cloud part down," he gestured up at it, "getting oil to come out of it, that's the tricky part."

‘Suke watched the boy, discerning his movements and potential ever more now as he kept the studying up as best he could. This boy was considerably lacking in the knowledge of past events but that wasn’t a problem, most did not recall ‘Suke as the kage for his rather pathetic reign of peace which was splattered by his betrothed taking the reign over the village. Many secrets were lifted, secrets that ‘Suke did not face himself as he had other pressing matters to attend to and that was just the short stick of it. However he did enjoy watching the youngsters and their techniques, they never change.

Even with this boy having the knowledge of Ninjutsu and wanting to make black clouds. This here was a technique the Hachidaime had not seen in a very long time. The creation of black clouds and that was something that indeed was very different to have up in person and not the faltering fact of the past. A difficult jutsu as he analyzed the clouds themselves and the chakra that was poured to them. He didn’t have any uses such as chakra sensory eyes or what not but he did have common sense. He thought about the makeup of a cloud, mostly science of condensation and such.

When it came to clouds and water make up however he would tap his chin in thought. He envisioned the chakra slightly on how the clouds formed and such as he smiled and clapped. “Well done on gathering the cloud now the objective from here on is bitterness. Rather than the emotion it is the exact energy behind bitterness. If you have ever tasted oil it is gritty and bitter. So infuse that emotion, that energy, into the cloud. Ninjutsu is all based off emotion and with it also the energy behind the emotion. As weird as it sounds, fire is anger and water is cool.

“There is a median and that can be the bitter.” He only hoped that this commentary could help out in some respect. Most elements had their own personality and oil was an in between of the gritty earth, the fluidness of water, and the harsh anguish that fire will have with it. So he mostly focused on anguish being that of the bitterness. That was the initial localized understanding of this jutsu that the boy was wanting, or at least it appeared as such. For now he waited, wondering if his words got through at all or if they were of any help.

[Nakazo Ashikaga]

    The man was tapping his chin in thought. Nakazo relaxed from his jutsu stance, and turned to face Ryosuke. The Kage was clapping, congratulating him on making it as far as he did with just the basic water cloud. The Genin walked closer to his superior, so as to hear him better. The Hachidaime was smiling as well he could see, and it seemed genuine. Nakazo appreciated that. Though he wasn't one to do something for approval or praise along, he had to admit that a compliment felt good. He tried not let it show though, and instead bowed slightly, showing respect back.

    He moved up to the ledge now, pushing himself with his arms so he was now seated by Ryosuke, though not directly next to him. There was still about five to ten feet difference, he wasn't used to having help and so wasn't comfortable yet pushing certain personal boundaries. He was starting to warm up to the man though, it was something about the quiet confidence and willingness to help someone as green as he was, he figured. He treats me like an equal, even though we are worlds apart. The Kage began to speak again and he listened up.

    Well done on gathering chakra, he had said, continuing on. The next objective is bitterness. Nakaza thought about that for a moment, bitterness, why would bitterness be an objective, shouldn't such an emotion be avoided? He continued to speak and Nakazo's musing was cut short. Rather than the emotion, it is the exact energy behind bitterness, he went on, almost answering Nakazo's private thoughts as if they were spoke aloud. If you have ever taste oil it is gritty and bitter. He pondered that wisdom, trying to understand what it meant. He's not saying to be bitter emotionally, he decided, working things out for himself. Rather, that what he needed to accomplish the technique was to infuse the feeling of bitterness into his jutsu. That was the basics of oil, and by using that and trying to combine it with the cloud he would have an easier time mastering it.

    His last words stuck with Nakazo, who then kicked off the ledge and returned to the center of the roof. "Thank you for the help," he looked back as walked, "you've done me a kindness helping me out today, I won't forget it. This might take a while though, so please, bear with me." He gave a last nod back as he reached his training ground. The advice given had started to sink in, and with it Nakazo's confidence was renewed, and he began to believe he could accomplish this. So much of Ninjutsu was based around feeling, emotions, chakra, and less about physically doing something. He was focusing on trying to will something to happen when he was missing the essence of what he was trying to will in the first place.

    His hands began to make the proper seals for the Kokuun no Jutsu, and he spread his legs slightly as he did so, bracing himself. He started again with the base of water energy inside of him, forcing chakra from all corners of his body to converge on that point. It gathered together over the course of the next few moments, after which point Nakazo was satisfied. He looked up and away at a point around fifteen feet ahead of him and chose that as the location the cloud would form. He let his arms fall to his sides as he concentrated completely on the last part.

    Energy began to pour outwards from the center of his chest. He guided it up in the sky towards the location he had previously chosen for it to form. Blobs of energy began to attach to each other and merge together into one form as he continued forcing more and more towards the destination. The cloud was began to become visible now, and Nakazo took this as the moment to try and form the black cloud technique and change it from rain to oil. Bitter, he thought, disappointment, a little bit of hate. He was recalling emotions and events from his past, trying to force them upon the cloud, tried to make it become something else.

    He looked up as he toyed with his emotions and watched the cloud. It began to darken slightly, though it wasn't completely black as he was expecting. Perhaps this is how it's supposed to look. A little more now, he thought, putting the final touches on it. "Here goes!" He announced for Ryosuke's benefit, signalling him that the technique was about to go off.

[Nakazo Ashikaga]

    The cloud was swelling, threatening to explode in the air as much as began raining like Nakazo intended. Start raining! His thoughts triggered the jutsu and a loud hissing noise announced that it was about to go off. Boiling rain started pour down, hitting other rain droplets and causing both to evaporate, and mixing water that was pooling on the roof, causing a light mist to start forming in the area. That's not quite what I had in mind, he thought, shoulders slouching. I suppose it's a step forwards though, at least I got the rain to do something. He ended the jutsu effect and the cloud disappated above.

    Nakazo took a minute to compose himself, walking from one side of the roof to the other, hand on his chin thinking over everything. Why did it rain boiling water instead of steam? He did everything right, followed the Hachidaime's advice to the letter, or so Nakazo thought. I used my feelings to change the water as it was in the air, it should have work. He stopped pacing as he realized one of his mistakes. I did use feeling, but what I did was use too much. He recalled his conversation with Ryosuke, specifically the part about how each type of nature has a different emotion associated with it.

    Fire is anger, the Kage had said, and Water is cool. I needed to find the median between both energies, and where they met was what I needed to focus on. I was too far on the fire side of the spectrum, letting my desire to learn the technique take over. Nakazo was starting to really understand now. He knew that he would have to temper those feelings to accomplish this task. I need to have them both at the same time, but I can't let either one over power the other. I need to have both in an equal amount, the perfect middle ground. Nakazo returned to the center of the roof to begin the process anew. He was completely dead to the world outside of this task, not even aware of Ryosuke and what he was doing. Solely focused on the Black Clouds jutsu.

    Rushing through the seals, he quickly arrived at the chakra control portion of his training. Nakazo quickly created a core of chakra and began sending it up into the air. He visualed the two natures, fire and water, one on each side of the chakra, staring the other down. As the energy floated up into sky the natures began swirling around with them, for a second creating a mini tornado. They were battling for control of the chakra, the fire side starting to overwhelm the water. He focused on bringing down his stronger emotions and instead trying to remain calm to balance it out. The two energies began to co-exist and started creating a cloud. This is looking good, this is progress.

    The cloud started to materialize, and was taking on a dark shade, much darker than it did before. He continued pouring out energy and keeping the balance of natures in check, willing them to stay equals, not allowing one or the other to take control. Finally the cloud had stopped growing, and Nakazo decide he was finished. It's time to see if it worked. He triggered the command and it swelled up for a second and then starting shrinking as it began to expel substance. A mixture of oil and water, equal parts, came down at the same time. Some splashed on Nakazo and he got a taste of oil, which he promptly spat out. Some water landed on him as well, which he noted was neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm. He took that as a good sign.

    I think I know what I need to do now. He started performing the technique again immediately, the final remnants of the cloud going out at the same time as he began. The whole time he was mixing in the natures as the chakra was already in the air. By that point, he realized, it was a lot harder to control. I've been handicapping myself inadvertently, he laughed, proud of how far he had come despite it. This time I'll do it properly. The energy swirled inside him and he mixed equal parts fire and water together, visualizing them forming oil. He imagined the viscous liquid slithering outwards and slowly forming together above. A pitch black cloud was visible now, and Nakazo ordered it to rain, hoping he had finally achieved victory.

Ryosuke watched as the child performed the jutsu and the chakra meshing so clearly with what he was trying to do. His eyes never missed a single moment of the raw power that was chakra being pushed through the water and the cloud. He made a rain cloud at first, clearly a larger one but it wasn’t all that great as it wasn’t up to par with what the boy was wanting. He wanted oil but instead the boy received a steaming downpour of boiling water. Similar to a jutsu ‘Suke perhaps knew about but certainly couldn’t perform himself as it were.

Nonetheless, he watched the failure be found out and he was pleased. The boy was a quick study, learning and gaining knowledge for what it was worth. The aesthetic gain of the boy’s willpower infused itself as one with the chakra he was issuing out to the world. All together the cloud slowly darkened until it was inky black with oil, and ‘Suke knew then that the boy had done the job well. The oil beginning to rain down as he smiled with an additional clap. His hands elevating in volume as he nodded in approval for the young boy.

“Well done, well done. You certainly do make it along well for a quick study. I can definitely see you coming along well as a shinobi.”[ He studied it for a moment, tapping his finger in the oil and then tasting it as he reaffirmed his knowledge that this was indeed the oil he knew a bit about. He smiled and was giving an approving look. The boy was moving up, granted nowhere near a master yet but under some true guidance he was to be a good shinobi indeed. A strong one at that, perhaps stronger than most ‘Suke has come by and one day stronger than him.

He sat back down and gazed at the boy calmly and spoke up, “Say Nakazo, would you care to do some more? I don’t mind training you with what I see if you wish to train under me a bit more. It has been a long time, perhaps a year or two years since I had a student. I certainly don’t mind teaching if you wish for lessons.” He was genuine in the offer, wanting the young to triumph for a better world was always a good goal to have and he understood it far better than most. He wondered if the boy had a squad as well, a teacher of his own even to some respect.
