Liver Punch
Rank: "C"
Skill: TaiJutsu
Effect: The liver blow is a hit to the liver, which is underneath a individual’s right pectoral behind the rib cage. If hit hard enough, it ruptures the liver causing internal bleeding, which causes the person to experience nausea and feel faint. It is a very effective attack to stop someone from moving around, especially outside fighters.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: The liver punch is a punch used in boxing. It deceives the average spectator, as the punch is short and quick. The drive is usually made with the left hand, or the left hook in infighting, or the regular short body hook. The drive is usually made under and to the front of the ninth and tenth rib upward to the base of the shoulder blade toward the spine. The liver is one of the largest vital organs and its effect is sickening, as it shocks the liver, the largest gland organ, and causes the victim to lose much of his fighting 'drive', and causes the air to escape his body. It is usually delivered when feinting an opponent to lead with his right, which leaves the body exposed; he then steps in and delivers a short, stiff uppercut, over the liver, which will usually put the average man out of commission at once. Normally, a liver punch is more or less unintentional. It begins as a left hook to the body, but as the defending boxer puts his elbow down and begins to roll with the punch, the back is exposed. Thus, the attacking boxer is frequently offered either the arm or the back of the ribs, the latter of which he will usually take instead of the arm. When the user lands this attack against an opponent it holds the opponent making them stunned for a total of three movements giving openings for combos. This Stunning attack adds up to other Stunning attacks.
Limit: Must learn in a gym that teaches Bokushingu (Boxing), Must know the Four Punching Basics.
Shenjie was in the zone as he exploited the boxing gym that had been in town as he and his partner had decided to take a bit of a rest here in Momokure Village, one of the many small prefectural towns near Mo village itself. His opponent that had agreed to spar with the poor blind fellow as quite surprised by how capable the fellow seemed to be despite his obvious handicap. Shenjie sighed as she focused in on his opponent's body, wondering if he could successfully land a hit on the fellow's liver; which in boxing wasn't an illegal hit, but was all the same effective against an opponent that moved around quite a bit and was an outside boxer; which proved troublesome for the much more in-fighter Shenjie that was more favored towards stronger hits and landing close ranged hits that would tire his opponent. This punch that was aimed at this fellow’s liver was designed to do just that, but much more effectively than simply wearing the opponent down. As Shenjie quickly weaved under the fellow’s heavy straight cross, Shenjie used his tremor sense to aim his now prepared strike as he quickly prepared his arm as if to throw an upper cut and quickly used the bobbing motion to prepare a well thrown punch.
Shenjie’s tremor sense was not quite as acute to detail on exterior details as someone with regular vision might be able to perceive; however, Shenjie could still feel the entirety of his opponent’s body as he prepared to shift his weight towards the fellow. His strike would have to utilize his shoulders and body’s momentum same as a hook or an uppercut would, but this time he had to be fairly precise with where and how he hit his opponent. He didn’t want to harm the fellow too much, what was the point of a good fight if one wasn’t allowed to improve afterward. Shenjie began to move his arm, now looking more like a hook than an uppercut as he prepared the abrupt strike that was going to be quite the disabling connection if it did so. The strike itself was quick and hard to follow; however it wasn’t impossible, and Shenjie continued to remind himself of this as he aimed his punch for the space in-between the 9th and 10th rib. As his punch fired off, it looked like a normal hook to the body at first; however, Shenjie began to angle himself, rolling with the punch as his body reacted on its own.
His body’s momentum fueled his punch as he felt himself almost cutting along the air as his strike built up quite a bit of momentum from him following the punch as it was about to connect. Shenjie felt his strike hit the fellow square on in the spot he had been aiming for, the liver, as he completed his path of travel. It was a strange feeling as he felt his gloved fist press into the side of his sparring partner as he could feel the entirety of the fellow’s body about to give out as he suddenly felt the wind within the fellow rush out of his mouth as if it was physically debilitating him, and in the same instant putting pressure on his lungs. To an outside observer, Shenjie’s hit probably appeared to have gone right through the fellow, who was not prepared for such a hit upon his side. The fellow doubled over as he was almost unable to respond as his knees began to wobble, and in the same moment he appeared stunned completely. The fellow’s stunned appearance wasn’t just in his facial expression, but also in his body language as he was physically unable to respond to the set up that Shenjie had made with the strike to the liver.
The fellow probably thought that Shenjie had simply made a luck hit; which was a common conception among boxers; however Shenjie had been aiming for the liver. There was no luck involved what so ever, and Shenjie’s new found ability to hit such a weak point might prove fairly useful in preforming combos or even doing something as robust a throw or a counter takedown. Shenjie quickly pulled his left fist away from the fellow’s body as he found that he didn’t want to take this encounter too over the top. He might actually hurt the fellow, or even worse he might debilitate him permanently; which was too cruel a fate for a fighter. Shenjie pulled his body back into an upright stance, or true boxer stance as he figured that his opponent needed a moment. “are you alright?” He asked knowing that his strike to the liver had been quite a bit to handle. The fellow might be stunned for a few seconds if he didn’t have the fortitude to recover too quickly. Shenjie made sure to keep his guard up as he kept thinking about the connecting punch to the liver he had just delivered. It was quite the glorious hit indeed, and he couldn’t help but sigh at his new found weapon.
