Walking through the village, Yamato looked for the house that was in his mission scroll. The mission he had received this time had been a little odd. Even though it was a D rank mission, he wasn't walking dogs or teaching kids. Instead he was performing an exorcism to rid the house of spirits. He didn't know how he felt about that since he didn't even know if he believed in spirits. He had never seen one before and like the saying went, seeing is believing.
In order to prepare himself for this unusual endeavor, Yamato had gotten himself a cross, a bible, and some salt. He had seen a movie where a priest used these three things to get rid of a demon. He didn't know if it would work, but he was still going to try. If it really was a ghost, this would be the only thing that could effect in. Weapons wouldn't work because its body was incorporeal. Hopefully these sacred items would.
After a few more minutes of walking, Yamato arrived at the house he needed to be at. Knocking on the door firmly, he waited for a response. A few seconds later, the door creaked open and revealed a young man. The young man opened the door wider and let him inside the house once he realized who he was. After he was in the house, Yamato sat at a nearby table with his client. It was there that they talked.
According to his client, this house was haunted. Yamato had assumed as much based on what the scroll said. He had to be careful about believed the client, since the house could just seemed haunted. It could actually be a genjutsu. And since the client wasn't a ninja, he wouldn't know that a genjutsu had been cast on him. Or it could actually be a ghost, and in that case Yamato didn't know what he would do.
While they were talking, Yamato noticed a nearby cup moving. Intrigued, he focused all of his attention on it. On the counter behind the client, a white cup was somehow sliding across the counter with no one touching it. Was this the ghost his client had talked about? Before the cup could fall to the ground, Yamato burst from his seat and grabbed it right as it fell. Placing it back on the counter, he surveyed the house in a new light. Something was going on, and he needed to find out what.
He would have to do it on his own unfortunately seeing as how the client had left. Once he explained what happened with the cup, his client had begun to get all sweaty. After a few minutes of fidgeting, his client said he had something to do and abruptly left. It didn't really matter though since he wouldn't be of much use anyway. Turning towards the steps, Yamato headed towards the client's room. According to him, this was where the ghost most frequently appeared.
Swinging the door to the room open, Yamato stepped inside. Flicking the light switch on, he looked around the room. From what he could see, everything was normal. There wasn't anything that seemed to be paranormal, although the client's room was a mess. He didn't know if that was thanks to the client himself or because of the ghost. Grabbing a nearby chair and sitting down, Yamato waited. Hopefully the ghost would show itself soon since he didn't want to wait all day to deal with it.
