Birth-date: November 22nd
Parentage: Isao Hisakawa (Father; Deceased) & Misao Hisakawa (Mother; Deceased)
Bloodlimit: None
Height: 5’0
Weight: 106lbs
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Blood type: B-
Language Spoken: Common
Alignment: Good, Chaotic
Birth Country: Bird Country
Village: Valley of the Exiles; the Hisakawa family has always been nomadic family, moving through the elemental nations, refusing to settle down or swear alliance to any power beside the family. They have sacred ground within Bird Country, known as the Valley of the Exiles where the family gathers once every 10 years, but no permanent infrastructure exists upon the site.
Ninja/Non-ninja: Non-ninja; due to the fact the Hisakawa family maintains no ties to any Hidden Village, they are not considered as ninja, or a shinobi clan. However, due to their ability to wield chakra and make use of ninja techniques, they refer to themselves as Chakra Wielders.
Personality:
Orphaned at age three when his parents were killed missing-nin, Hikaru is a demure but inquisitive person, often described by the older members of the Hisakawa family as being a free spirit, bordering on rebellious. Teased and excluded by the other children of the Hisakawa family for his strange looks, that saw him labelled as a freak, he spent much of his time on his own, wandering through the various towns and villages they stayed near, preferring his own company to that of others. Not even his carers could get him to stay with the family for any length of time unless absolutely necessary. It was during this isolation in his childhood that he got his inquisitive nature, as he would spend as much time as possible in the various libraries and bookstores of the large cities that the family would trade with, and this developed into an insatiable thirst for any and all types knowledge. He often dreams what it would be like to leave the family and simply wander the earth on his own, but he currently has not left as his parents wished for him to stay with the family until he could fend for himself.
As part of a nomadic family outside the authority of any nation or faction, Hisakawa has learnt to disregard the laws of the various nations, viewing them as little more than the powerful trying to control the masses through oppressive means. Instead, he places trust in what he views as being the laws of nature; that people have the right to an undeniable personal freedom to do whatever they wish. He has no wish to join any nation or village, as civil society to him is little more than an iron cage that people are trapped in and he believes that people are too narrow minded to realize the truth of their situation or are too weak willed to leave the comforts of civil society.
Despite his views on society, Hikaru still values goodness, even if the rest of his moral compass is somewhat skewed. He would happily go out of his way to help someone in need, provided of course that they truly deserved his benevolence. To him, the truly good should be treated as such and respected, even if they live within the confines of civil society. Laws and social norms are happily disregarded in the pursuit of happiness and goodness; theft can always be committed on a thief to help the victim and honor simply restrict one’s actions. Authority is there to be challenged and to be done away with, and the death of a corrupt official could be easily justified by helping those worst off.
Appearance:
Like his father his father, whom he resembles the most, Hikaru is tall for his age and stands out in a purely physical sense when compared to the other children of the Hisakawa family. His hair is deep black, darker than the hair of the other black haired members of the family, described cruelly by the other children as being as black as the void. His eyes are, in contrast, the palest of icy blues. High cheekbones and his alabaster skin tone complete his aristocratic, but undeniably haughty look. A thin scar above his left eye, a result of his aunt’s cat, only adds to his haughtiness. Like his mother, he is naturally left handed, a fact that added to his isolation by the other children of the family, all of whom were right handed. Through hard work, he has trained himself to be ambidextrous for convinces sake, though he still prefers to write with his left-handed. His voice, although not overly feminine, is slightly higher pitched and resembles a summery breeze, and he was often been mistaken as his mother when he first started speaking.
Given that their nomadic nature, Hikaru was expected to carry his own weight as soon as possible, and years of constant walking and carrying the weight of his gear, that which wasn’t stored away in seals or carried by the pack animals, has left him fit and strong. Even though he is of slim build and not overly toned, he is fitter and stronger than the average child his age, and is the fastest of the Hisakawa children his age, even if it is only just. Hikaru’s apparel is not based on fashion but on practicality, meant to keep for long period of time, even through the harsh trials of constant travel. He wears a straw hat and a cloak to keep himself from being burnt by constant exposure to the sun, heavy duty boots and lightweight pants and shirts. His most prized piece of clothing is his father’s rose-tanned leather belt, which he wears at all times, except for when he bathes.
Background:
Tracing their heritage back to the time of the Sage of Six Paths, the Hisakawa family was always capable of using chakra and the relevant shinobi skills to an extent many shinobi couldn’t. However, they never once regarded themselves as a shinobi clan, and still don’t. Instead, they have always considered themselves to be wandering shinobi, the continuation of an era long since passed, not bound by the strict organisation of shinobi clans, and generally removed from the politics that affects the various nations, only getting involved when there were mercenary contracts available. It is this nomadic lifestyle that has led to the Hisakawa family being considered as a relic of the past, but despite this image, the family remains well aware of technological innovations and developments in the shinobi arts, and have always managed to acquire knowledge such developments.
Hikaru was born to Isao and Misao Hisakawa at the peak of the Hisakawa strength, with the family numbering just over three hundred. His father was absent for much of his first two years of life, being one of the family’s most powerful shinobi, but Hikaru adored his father and treasured the time he got to spend with him. His mother, by contrast, was always present, being a medic, and took care of looking after and raising Hikaru. The first two years of Hikaru’s life were peaceful, and the family traveled through different nations before returning to the Valley of the Exiles for their ritual gathering. It was upon the night of his third birthday, the final night the family would spend at the Valley of the Exiles before departing for another ten years, that Hikaru’s, and the whole Hisakawa family’s, life changed for ever. For the first time in two centuries, someone attack the Valley of the Exiles, and a group of over three dozen missing-nin attacked. The missing-nins were all killed during the attack and during the following days as they were hunted down in retribution, but the attack left close to a full third of the Hisakawa’s dead, including Hikaru’s parents.
Taken in by his paternal aunt and uncle, who had no children of their own, Hikaru left with the survivors of the attack, heading west into the unknown lands for close to two full years. During this period, Hikaru’s isolation from the other children began, spurned for his unusual hair and eye colour and for the fact that the attack had happened on his birthday. On his sixth birthday, the family was camped outside the capital of Lightning Country, Enrai, when Hikaru first stumbled upon a library. He had read books of course; the family carried enough books and other forms of information to teach their children, but it was this discovery that started his love of learning and thirst for knowledge. From then on, Hikaru would always try to spend as much time in libraries or bookstores, reading on various topics.
As tradition dictated, Hikaru began training at age seven alongside the five other children his age. The second to unlock their chakra, Hikaru possessed the largest chakra capacity of the children, comparable to children of major shinobi clans such as Konoha’s Uchiha, and was taught to hone his chakra control. Through the trials and lessons of his training, Hikaru discovered that he had and affinity to genjutsu and kenjutsu and he managed to carve himself a wooden sword to practice with, though his ninjutsu lagged behind as a result. It was also while he was seven years old, that Hikaru’s moral compass began to take shape. Having stopped at a large town in Wind Country, Hikaru had slipped away from his aunt and uncle in order to find the local library or bookstore. While trying to find his destination, he stumbled upon a pregnant woman being harassed by her landlord for not being able to pay her rent on time. When the man struck her, Hikaru intervened and almost knocked the man unconscious before his uncle and the local police interfered. Hikaru himself was let go with a warning, while the landlord walked away completely free, as the pregnant woman was forced to pay a fine for avoiding paying her rent. After three years of training, Hikaru was considered competent enough to finish his basic training and start undertaking jobs alongside the older members of the family.
