Character Depth
Personality:
Closed
Hayate, having the childhood he had, does not talk a lot, nor socialize with others very often. He mostly keeps to himself, and if given teh opportunity, will always go alone instead of with a team. Situations in which he discusses his feelings with others are rare, if not impossible, and it takes a great deal of time and effort to get close to Hayate. He is on a dangerously thin line to becoming a sociopath, actually having or showing absolutely zero emotions, but certain individuals and events can often cause this side of him to go back into the shadows. He doesn’t trust others, and most of his work, if not all, he will do alone, and he would always rather tell someone that they should do so too instead of helping them. This does not, however, mean that he would not help those who cannot help themselves, as he believes everyone deserves the same conditions in life, but not all can do the same with those conditions.
Determined
Hayate is an all or nothing individual, and he lives his life this way. He believes in absolutism, and achieving perfection, and he strives every day to do it. This brings him to a point of stubborness, and arrogance, where he is so into his beliefs that he refuses to accept other, perhaps more true, beliefs. Hayate places goals for himself, goals that are most of the time so far up they could be considered divine, that he tries every day to accomplish, without exceptions. This may also cause him to act irrationally, on an attempt to achieve one of these goals of his. Even though this idea is never shared with anyone, unless under highly extreme circumstances, Hayate desires power. Ultimate power, true power, power over everything and anything, power over all. In his eyes everything can get him power. Knowledge, strength, skill, talent, those are all things that bring power, and those are all things he focuses on, sometimes some more than others, but overall equally. Some would say that his ultimate goal is to become a Kage, a Sannin, an ANBU captain, because those are all positions of ultimate power, and yet deep inside, Hayate wishes more, more than any ninja has yet accomplished.
Tactical
The strength of the mind brings the strength of the body, and the other way around too, and that is just something Hayate lives around. He tries his brain to the furthest limits, and then even further, every day finding out new things, and learning more and more. All of his knowledge is constantly used in every situation, no matter how little use it may have. It is the tactic that wins the battle, and not the strategy, or the raw power. It is the tactic that brings strength, that brings power, that brings fame, and Hayate shows this in his fight patterns. There are none. He doesn’t make his own fight patterns, even though he fights by styles. Hayate adapts, adjusts his style to the situation, and the opponent. It is one of the reasons he is such a natural with the wind release.
A creature of habbit
This, however, cannot be applied to combat. Hayate lives his everyday life by routines, and by guidelines. When he gets up, he gets dressed and exercises, then proceeds to eat a bowl of ramen, continuing his exercises, with the possibility of missions, and so on for the rest of the day. Not sticking to these unwritten rules to him is like breaking the law, unless there is a situation which calls for him on a quick notice. His blade is always perfectly polished, and his clothes clean. That is just something that’s not questioned.
Calm
Not many things in this world can upset Hayate, and he can stay moderately calm to any and all situations that may occur. He does not let his emotions cloud his judgement, and tries to be objective in every aspect of his life. Hayate attempts at looking at every situation from every perspective, and seeing what is truly the best decision, without getting upset if he messes up, or excited if he succeeds. This calm aura of his is most definitely not solely a good thing, since because of it he can be quite a douchebag to people. He does not care what others think of him, and so he does not get upset when people attempt to insult him, or even talk behind his back. Because of this, Hayate is able to look at his best friend being tortured to death without flinching, and observe a thousand souls die on the battlefield without feeling the need or urge to help any of them. This calm trait can be replaced with cold at any point in time, without much effort.
Hayate’s face is nicely shaped, as if it was made to fit the proportions and the muscles of his body. It is of a triangle-like shape, making his stiff and often messy hair hardly reach the level of his chin. His skin is pale like the snow, and he hasn’t been nurtured to perfection, and so various pieces of bones can be seen just below the surface of his skin. His hair is purely white, easily getting lost in strong rays of the Sun, unlike his ocean-blue eyes which stick out even in total darkness. Not many people in the world have such an appearance, but it is what makes the boy special, and unique.
Still too young to grow facial hair, Hayate’s face glows while in the light, making his thin and enclosed lips barely visible to anyone. Still, those who look can see the stern and closed mouth filled with dispair and sadness. It is rarely broadened in a smile, and even when it is, that smile is of sarcasm, or mockery. Matching his lips, Hayate’s nose is quite small, and barely showing any special emotions through strange movements. Seeing how he mostly breathes through it, the small gate in front of the boy’s teeth can remain closed even while sleeping, or meditating. His ears are much like all of his other features, small and thin, beaing barely visible unless searched for, but they are, unlike his facial features, covered in the snowy hair that flows in sharp shapes down across Hayate’s head.
The boy’s body is slim and in shape, though lacking of pure mass and strength. The agility gained from having such small bones and low amounts of meat more than makes up for the lack of sheer force another person might be able to put out. Hayate has learned how to utilize his body to its potential though, at least to its potential without any special shinobi techniques, and he fights accordingly, rarely stopping to block an attack from an opponent, and instead attempting to get out of the way until the point where the opponent has nothing else to throw at him. He knows that his structure may not be intimidating to most, and so he does not try to intimidate, but to surprise when someone expects it the least, which is very often, when fighting an opponent that seems like an orphan that hasn’t eaten a single good meal in its life. That would just be false, because even considering Hayate’s poor diet as a child, more food would not have brought much more to the mix, because his metabolism would just drain it all away. The boy can eat as much as an Akamichi, and still remain of the same build.
Clothing often varies on the ocassion.
Background:
Hayate was born to a man named Shun, and a woman Ayame. Shun was once before, while Hayate was still young, an accomplished shinobi, having been a Jounin for the longest time, and even being an accomplished ANBU Wolf of Kumogakure, until he started drinking. Ayame, on the other hand, was not a shinobi, nor did she come from any shinobi family. Her father was a blacksmith and her mother a cook, and so Ayame followed in her mother’s footsteps. The pair met by complete accident, with no extraordinary romance story behind it, it was just two people meeting in a bar, talking to each other. Ayame was a sweet woman of not many summers behind her, with both of her parents having already died, she had noone to rely on. Shun was, on the other hand, a man that seemed to be the perfect state of a human on the outside, all the while having serious emotional conflicts about his life on the inside. The younger woman was easily fooled by the heroic and gentle appearace and state of the man, and fell in love.
Only a year afterwards, she became pregnant with a child, Hayate’s older brother Akio, and shortly after the couple realized they were having a baby, they got married. The cries of the young boy were just a bit too much for Akio’s father, the Jounin of Cloud, and he decided that, instead of confessing to his wife how many troubles he was having, start drowning all of his sorrow and angst in alcohol. Akio was practically raised by his mother alone, as his father was always either on a mission, or in a bar of some sort. A time came, when Akio was but five years old, that his old man returned from an exhausting ANBU mission, which, as always, meant torture, both coming from and for Shun. The mission managed to trigger a switch behind the older man’s mind, as he got home drunk, with half of his clothes torn and his mask covered in mud and dust. Having made Akio lock himself up in his room just next to his parents’ bedroom, the man forced his drunk self on his wife, and did the most horrendous thing a man can do to a woman. Only 9 months later, after several other occasions when Shun came home drunk and haunted his wife and son, a second boy was born, a boy made from his father’s horrible actions. This boy was Hayate.
Hayate’s early life was spent mostly hiding behind his brother and mother, as the man in the house mostly went around throwing all things he could find in every direction he knew. After his incompetence, he was given a leave from the shinobi of Kumo, until he “gained back what he lost”. Only if the ANBU captain knew, what Shun lost could not be brought back, not even with the strongest of jutsus, because what he lost was his soul. Akio was, however, becoming more and more powerful, having gained much strength and endurance from the endless torture his father gave him. One night, when the father came home once more, even more drunk than usually, during a time when Hayate should’ve been sleeping, and yet he wasn’t, an argument was started. Akio was barely a 13-year-old, and he was already nearing the rank of chuunin, while his father was a good-for-nothing drunkard. Hayate could hear the two men, a younger, and an older one, fight as loud as they possibly could, with his mother intervening whenever she could, even though every time she ended up being pushed to the floor by her husband. The young boy could hear his father raising a household object, like a vase of some sorts, as his older brother protested, while also drawing a weapon, but in his case, it was a sword. A scream could be heard from the woman, as blood was spilled all across the once beautiful floor of their house. Young Hayate ran straight through the door of his room, and towards the area from which the sounds came. To his major disappointment, all the boy could see was his mother’s lifeless body lying next to a couch, with blood having flown all across her face. Blood, there was more blood, blood everywhere, and not just his mother’s, but the blood of the male parts of his family too. And yet Akio and Shun were nowhere to be seen.
Years had passed, and the poor Hayate had stayed in an orphanage for the entire duration of his shinobi training, all the while expecting his heroic older brother to come back with the protective smile still on his face, but it was not to be. Still now, a year or two after the Genin exams Hayate took, there was not one word of his father or his brother, even though the village claimed to be searching for them both. The boy had dedicated his life to training, to becoming the best possible shinobi ever, and to making his brother proud, all the while hoping he would get to see Akio once more.
