They have an innate sense about which direction is north, south, east, west, etc. They need no compass. They also can read the stats and use them to navigate by, although they know nothing about navigating on the seas. They can read signs as well, using such information as the direction a river flows or which side a tree moss is growing on, in order to get a sense of where they are. Look in Task Skills thread found in the Skills and Traits Index for more information. Each time learned user gets 5 die roll to increase the skill.

Leaving the Kusagakure Keep, Zeri would begin looking around until he found a guard standing nearby, just look for the stern faced individuals who do nothing all day save for stand around. Asking one for directions, he would begin heading towards the mail center of the village, towards the east and a little to the north from Kusa Keep. He had wandered this city for the longest time on his sleepless nights, though he didn't really take the time to get his bearings or anything, he just wandered; maybe he should figure out his directions while he's doing this mission.
Looking towards the area where the guard had pointed, Zeri would denote this as the eastern direction on the compass, noticing it's in the same direction the sun rises. So the sun would rise in the east, that means it sets in the west; and if he were to turn to his left he'd be facing towards the north then. Nodding to himself he would begin moving as quick as he could towards the mail center, taking the roof path just so he didn't run into any people on the street. There were some gangs here in Kusa that were rather a nuisance to the populace, perhaps he'll take care of them after some more training, clean things up a bit. Sighing softly to himself as he stops on a roof and gets his bearings, he'd look around to find the spot on the horizon the sun rises, and the secondary landmark that the guard spoke of; a noodle stand with a purple lantern on its side with the Kanji for Freedom. Falling to the ground, not much of a fall though he could feel a little sting in his ankles, he's go to the noodle stand then turn to the left to begin heading North.
The streets were not as crowded here, a few rough individuals here and there, though they tended to ignore or outright avoid Zeri, his eyes scanning the people as he went. Shady people, lovely, they always proved to be a big thorn in his side; feet taking him towards the mail center in the north, the sign already visible from here. This would be an easy mission if things went according to plan, though hardly in his life do things go according to the plan he sets out. It was then he noticed a small feeling; the tip of his nose tugged slightly as he faced north, it was almost as if he was drawn to this direction. Spinning in place, Zeri looked like a lunatic, but he was able to figure out that yes it was only to the north that he felt the pulling feeling in his nose, a rather odd thing that.
Entering into the mail center, Zeri would hand over the mission slip to the large man who looked to be charge, and then would be handed a mail bag that had to be returned at the end of the route. He was told to take his time, but if he could be done quickly, that would be for the best in the long run. They had four parcels that needed to be delivered today, so the bag was loaded with these, and he was told to take care to not get jumped by anyone. Then he was given directions to the four places he would have to deliver the mail to; they were all over Kusa so he would be given a small map and some verbal instructions.
-1) Go to the Western edge of Kusa, right near the wall would be a shop for shoes, the delivery is the longer package with the stamp for Cobbler on it. Head west from here and look for the old oak tree next to a blue roofed building, once there, turn right from the back of the blue roofed building, and you should see the shoe shop from there.
-2) From the shoe shop, go a bit to the north and head east from there. The Academy is expecting a delivery of school supplies, the circular package would be those. Since you are a ninja you should remember where the Academy is.
-3) Once finished with the Academy, go to the south and find an old bridge, across the bridge would be a cat of luck; from the cat of luck go to the east a bit until you see a building with a red and purple door. That door is the third delivery, a cube package for the business on the second floor. Ask for Ramone.
-4) Finally, you'll want to head back towards the mail center, but when you get halfway back you'll want to go a bit more to the north. Best way to figure out when you go north would be to find the Ice Cream cart, with the Kanji for cold on the side of it. Once you head north, wait until you see an old statue of an old lady on a bench, there you'll go to the right and head up some stairs, and at the top of those stairs is the business for the final package.
