Jaxx couldn't sleep anymore. Not only was it rough living it out in the sticks before getting to the Village of Grass, but she was having trouble even adjusting to the land and the village itself. Back in her home of the Cloud it was much nicer and had a different energy. While it wasn't as green and forested as this place was, the land of Cloud was much more freeing. With the grass as tall as buildings, it was hard for Jaxx to see where the hell she was going and it soon became more of an annoyance than a pleasure. Especially since the hunting out here was much different than she was accustomed to. This morning early would be different however. Jaxx would be improving her bow skills for defense rather than actually hunting.
Jaxx went out before the sun went up after leaving the hut she stayed in. It was one she was renting from someone for the time being while she stayed here. Eventually, she would buy it from the landlord so it was her own. Since leaving her village Jaxx had been quite the traveler to discover who she was meant to be and her purpose in life. Jaxx had some of the skills farming and living off the land developed by her friends back at the village, but it wasn't enough to support herself. For now Jaxx was content at continuing her studies as a shinobi and furthering her education elsewhere. This morning it happened to be bow training. It gave her a break from the books to put it into practice.
Since the morning was still summer time, she had her cargo pants on with the side pockets, a white tanktop, and her black jacket that she would remove for later. Her Grass headband glittered brightly in the skylight as she wore it like a bandana and not a forehead band like she had seen many others wearing. Plus it didn't give her a headache.
Jaxx walked to a clearing she had found earlier that would make a very good training spot. It had a grove of trees surrounding a fairly open section of the forest allowing a section of sky to be seen and providing ample light. As the sun rose higher in the sky greeting the world with its light, the brighter this section of the forest became. Since discovering this place, Jaxx had placed targets up on the trees to use instead of hitting the trees themselves. It was easy to hit a tree trunk with an arrow but to hit a specific spot was much harder.&
As she stood in the center of the grove of pine and fir trees, Jaxx watched her feet to position herself in a stance she had read about over the last few days and stood fast. It looked clumsy and she didn't feel right about it but she would stand in it for now. Jaxx wanted to get the feel of firing off an arrow. Remembering the stance was an "open stance" she adjusted her feet accordingly so that she was facing sideways to her target and her feet were at an even position.
Once her feet were in the right position, Jaxx looked up to see her target in her left peripheral vision since she was right handed. Taking the bow off of her back, she turned her head to the left and notched an arrow. The arrows were simple enough to use for hunting. She would get combat ones later when she became more skilled. With her right hand on the string, her fingers under the finger guard she wore pulled the bowstring back gently and her left hand kept the bow stable. Her right hand rested on her cheekbone on the right side of her face while she focused the tip of the arrow over the dot on her target which stood twenty meters away. The bow was strong enough to hit a target sixty feet away so she felt confident it wouldn't miss. Jaxx breathed in and out deeply and slowly for a while before preparing to release the string. Jaxx was measuring out her arm strength in her bow and was glad to see she could hold it for almost two minutes without her arm showing signs of tiring, but it was clear she would need to gain more strength.
Without a second to hesitate, Jaxx released the bow string with a fwap! and the arrow was sent flying to the target at top speed. A plunk! was heard momentarily later and she went to see where on the target her arrow landed.
