Character Depth
Personality
Blunt: Kyoung is a fairly straight forward character, and this is just something that he had always exhibited as a child. Always to the point, he never saw any need to word his way around situations or draw things out. Kyoung always figured that if you could get it out of the way, then why wouldn’t you? Good or bad, he is always about letting people know exactly how it is. Being straight forward is sometimes a curse and a blessing. Some people do not take being given the truth too kindly sometimes when it is sour to the taste. Brutal honesty is something that characterizes Kyoung, but for the most part it just gets him into trouble with the people he is working with. It must be some sort of inborn rebellion. The only difficult thing about having this trait is that Kyoung is unable to share his thoughts with anyone other than the scientists that raised him, as he only has about 20 percent of his hearing. His ability to speak the common language is very limited as well, so he is normally refrained to mentally berating the people whom he is dealing with rather than vocalizing such. He would have to know more common in order to do that.
Callous: After having fought some of his fellow subjects, he has come to the conclusion that empathy is something that should be suppressed, as it only acts to put you in danger. He has become callous to the idea of dealing with death and killing. He doesn’t really mean take joy from taking a life, but it has become a part of life at this point, having been pitted against other subjects up until his rescue. He is cold and calculated in this regard, raised to be a killing machine, or perhaps more so an assassin for the land of frost. All the bioengineering that took place in the lab was designed to determine what genes were perfect to be weaponized. This environment made Kyoung cold and less emotionally intelligent than someone who had been raised in the safety of a ninja village or by a loving family. To him, he is just livestock, and much everyone else seems to fall into that category. Just a thing to be used, played with, and tossed away at leisure. Secretly he hates this feeling of being an object, but it comes with the mental damage that surely comes with being raised a science experiment. He does have a soft for people who take care of him without a need or reason, but that is an experience that he doesn’t share.
Clever: Kyoung is naturally developed a clever nature. He, though usually silent due to his limited ability to speak, is very tactical in his way of thinking and methods. He uses everything to his advantage, and doesn’t allow chances to get away from him. This calculated nature does not by any means mean that he is perfect. In fact he is very flawed when it comes to factoring in human emotion. Sometimes he forgets that being human can affect the plan just as much as external physical factors. He also tends not to speak up when the planning of anything is taking place, choosing instead to work on his own utilities. He isn’t really a team player by nature, but if forced to do so, then he wouldn’t be opposed to it completely. He just needs to learn that sometimes you don’t need to do everything on your own. If he is able to figure out this concept, he could become a formidable foe.
Disciplined: Being raised in a lab is bound to breed some degree of discipline. Following orders, listening to what is being said, it was all part of growing up in the lab. To keep yourself in line and not causing trouble. These ideas are what Kyoung has learned to adopt. You follow orders. Not being able to speak well makes it a lot easier to attempt to understanding what is being directed, though it is mostly through signs, as he cannot hear well. His mental obedience is part of what made him a desirable subject and not a wastrel after his body’s compensation was discovered. Because of his body not being of the Uchiha bloodline originally, the implanting of matching blood cells and eyes was a risky experiment to undertake. The result being that the vessel that was Kyoung was too weak physically at the time to take on such a power and consequently his hearing was sacrificed. Though he is disciplined, he is still prone to violence, and being over all destructive at times. He had to refrain from overdoing it from time to time, as his body, now pumped with physically enhancing drugs and a bloodlimit that is not his own drive his hormone levels through the roof. He is stable, but only just.
Violent: Kyoung is deathly violent. His hormones, ranging from the extreme experimentation upon his body, has driving him to become inclined to violence and anger easily. He does his best to manage him aggressive nature, but that at times is not enough. He has a sickening desire to murder those who oppose him, yet he finds himself holding back. He is much like a hunter, designed to feed and protect the members of the support experimentation groups. He is bound to support those individuals up until the point at which they are paired up and sent to fight each other to the death, to prove which genetic mutations is the strongest. This method of developing truly lethal soldiers, which surely is not popular, but has begun to rise in popularity due to the recent developments in science and medical jutsu. These monsters that were creating war beasts and creatures of warfare created these aggressive tendencies in the young Kyoung. He resists his nature, but his body makes it hard to resist smashing and killing things. He is like a monster designed to hunt monsters, yet he does his best to not be a monster.
Hidden Trait
Protective: Kyoung is secretly very protective of the people that he has emotional attachment to. This strong need to protect others is something that was implanted into him along with his need to crush and destroy. To protect the delicate support units, he needed to have a will to protect them, and this primeval need to defend one’s tribe is what comes out in Kyoung in his most dire moments. He will needlessly sacrifice himself if need be in some situations to make sure that those under his ward are protected. This, though very strange with his destructive nature, is something that he does his best to repress in the heat of the moment. This raw desire to defend one’s own is something that does not always discern friend or foe. He does his best to remain true to his gut, even though at times it fails him. This very general need to protect is a hidden trait, and something that only comes out under extreme stress or when his partner is threatened.
Appearance
General Appearance: Kyoung has the appearance of being much fitter than the average human being. Having been raised as an experiment, his body is built with the idea of creating the perfect vessel. That being said, his body also carries a good deal of damage from all the augmentation and scaring from all the surgical experiments performed upon him during his time at the lab. There are long incision scars running down the back of his leg. There are also long scars along his back and around his neck where different surgeries had taken place. His body had since then healed, but regardless of that they still leave a clear visage upon his body, when exposed. On his left wrist, there is a tattoo which labels him with a 005. This label details him as the fifth experiment in the line of experiments that took place within the lab of his creation. Being created in a lab also means that his skin if fairly pale, and deprived of the usual pigmentation that comes with being exposed to the sun. The cold appearance makes him appear vampire-like.
Kyoung-Ju Hon’s head is donned with acutely black hair, making his appearance very distinct. It is very difficult to discern wither this is a trait that has been implanted or was inherent with the DNA itself. His eyes are a cool shade of light brown except when under stressful situations, where the color seems to be a deeper orange color. His nose is acutely pointed, and his facial bone structure is boney and hard. His hair is fairly short, and is commonly a mess. His teeth are perfectly straight, from the braces that they forced him to wear in the lab. His body is muscular and dense, and so he appears to be a kind of like a block head. His head is rectangular in shape and is fairly dull in appearance. His eye sockets are thin and pointed, giving him an appearance of indifference and or ignorance. His body itself is muscular and built well, representing his years of combat training under the tutelage of the scientists that oversaw his creation along with his fellow subjects. There is slight scaring along his eyes that remind him of the implants he had been cursed with.
Casual Dress: His casual apparel all ranges on levels of causal situations. Perhaps he might feel it is appropriate to just wear a pair of jeans and tee shirt with some tennis shoes. On other occasions, he might wear a jacket or perhaps some other form of accessory with the outfit. He might also choose to wear a simple shirt and loose fitting tie with some casual pants and shoes. It of course is all situational. All this being said, it does not help that he had never been exposed to social normative clothing methods, so his clothing always seems to be disheveled, or a mess. It never quite seems like he knows how to dress himself properly, as if he were not raised to have such manners. If one were to assume this, they would be not too far from the truth. His casual, and messy appearance is definitely something that will need some guidance before it becomes acceptable. He will certainly need help learning how to dress himself without looking like he just threw some stuff together out of utility. There is an art to picking out outfits and these simple outfits display this nature.
Battle Dress: Kyoung’s battle dress is much more appropriate than his casual gear. This is the equipment that the lab had given him before his physical tests and examinations post body augmentation. He was given a simple black tee shirt and green cargo pants. His boots were black as tar, and were styled after combat boots. He was issued a butt bag and Leg holster, which he wears on his dominant side, his right side. His bag is attached to his mesh belt that wraps around his waist. On some occasions, like when it is raining or cold, he chooses to add a cloak to his arsenal of clothing. His Cloak is dark green and has two knife holsters inside it, on a leather strap, and his last knife is hung on his belt. This battle dress is simple, but effective. It gives him the appearance of a fighter; which is what he had to be. Because of all of the psychological testing, it appears that he is battle tested. If he is injured in combat, he might even resort to patching himself up with his clothing. This outfit is indeed utilitarian in nature. A pair of dog tags, one labeled with his name and blood type, while the other carries his number [005] and a “D” representing his ability level at current, as deemed by the scientists.
Formal Wear: Kyoung’s formal wear is something more of a casually fancy attire. It is often composed of a white shirt, loose fitting tie, slightly oversized suit coat, and matching black trousers and shoes. This appearance is somewhat a display to the fact that he doesn’t know how to dress himself, so it always appears as if he had gotten into his father’s closet. His clothing is way too big at this point, but it is not all that bad. Maybe one day he will be able to grow into this appearance, but for the time being he looks a little too small for his cloths. He might also choose to wear cufflinks and maybe a different tie on certain occasions, but for the most part this is his formal dress. The Dog tags from his combat uniform are still present, tucked under his shirt, but still there. He carries them to remind him of his status as well as doing so out of habit. He had gotten so use to wearing them that he sometimes forgets that he has them on.
Background:
Everything started when Suk-le wah was born. One of the first subjects to be taken into the facility rather than being genetically created, Suk was the son of one of the Mercenaries that frequented the base that he would later call home. His father, who is to this day unknown, was of some genetic descent that was clearly compatible with the genes that the scientists wanted to examine. Without a second glance they stole the young child, yet to be introduced to his mother, and was taken to the land of frost, deep below the earth where the story of the young child truly began. After that day, he was given a new name, Kyoung-Ju Hong, he was taken to the incubation chambers, where they incubated and fed nutrients and vitamins infused with a milk like calcium formula until he was able to walk on his own and support himself. It was at this point when he was beginning to crawl about the small chamber that they decided that he was ready to begin eating solid sustenance. This change was not something that the young child would yet understand. Everything to a child is innocent and easily understood, or so they might think it is. It was at this young age of two years old that Kyoung began to remember “Father”.
He didn’t quite understand who this person was, or what they wanted exactly. “Father” to him was the fellow in the lab coat with salt and pepper hair that brought him the sustaining nutrients each day. For the most part, he was left up to his own devices, save for all the learning tools and strange people that came in and tried to teach him works and sounds. All that was of course not something that he really understood well. It was maybe a year after he began to understand what was going on that the experiments really began. His body was like a blank canvas to these scientists; who had been cultivating a field for them to work with. One evening, “Father” Himself came to give him some nutrient blocks and read some weird garble to him before he injected some strange liquid into Kyoung-Ju’s arm. After that, everything in Kyoung’s memory became quite fuzzy. He remembered the cold feeling of the metal table, the medical gown around his body, the strange table next to him with another human upon it, but it all seemed as if a dream…fuzzy. He wanted to call out, to scream stop, but he wouldn’t even know how, if he even could. The sound of machines cutting and the flashing of blood from the other fellow made him uncomfortable, and as his vision began to fade to the black, he could feel himself getting hooked up to a blood bag, as if they were giving him more blood…as he felt the same warm liquid running down his other arm.
When he awoke the second time, he could feel his vision coming back to him, but only slightly. He hadn’t been out that long it seemed. He mouthed something, as if trying to make some words before a woman in a white coat stuck him with a syringe once again. He felt his vision blurring again, the world spinning right round like a record. If he had been standing, he would have fallen down. It was at this point that he began to feel a fain in his face, and blackness following as his left eye noticed something that he could never not see. He saw “Father” pulling his right eyeball out of socket. He would have passed out from the pain, had he not been sedated already. He again faded into the blackness of sleep that would never truly end. His ears could hear the cutting, the slicing. His body could feel the incisions and the removal and adding of strange things. Picked and prodded, his body was reputably being tortured and made into something that he didn’t understand. He could feel the aching pain all over his body, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t scream, he couldn’t fight, there was nothing. This powerlessness destroyed his trust in people, and in what was going on around him. What kind of person did this to their children?
When Kyoung-Ju finally rose from his induced slumber, he felt his whole body aching. He tried to open his eyes, but it was as if they were swollen shut. He felt his face, feeling for anything, and all he could feel were bandages and gauze. What was going on? He thought to himself. He struggled to sit up as he felt sweaty and feverish. He could hear a voice. It was a familiar sound, but it was faint, as if it were really far away. It tried to comfort him, or at least he assumed that’s what they were trying to do, but they wouldn’t let him take off the bandages or get out of bed. He was confused as to why he had been placed in this strange location to begin with. There were bandages all along his abdomen, his legs, his forearms, his spine, everywhere. He practically felt like a living mummy. Being subdued and monitored like he had been for a few weeks after the event, eventually he was able to remove his bandages, and to his amazement, his swollen eyes, still sore from the surgery, had healed. He could see, and after that really weird dream where he had had his eyes scooped out of his head. It all must have been a nightmare. Surely…or to the very least it would seem later on. Children never remember their old injuries, and this was the hope of the scientists, who had just planted in the unknowing Kyoung the eyes and blood of an Uchiha clansman.
After spending a few years developing motor functions, and going through multiple hormonal experiments, Kyoung began to understand and expect what was going on down in the metal rooms of the laboratory. He understood, but didn’t quite see any results from what they had done. They had not done anything other than implant a different set of peepers into his head, or at least that was what Kyoung thought. He had not felt any side effect up until he reached the age of 5 where suddenly his hearing began to degrade suddenly. It was strange, as his body seemed to be rejecting the Uchiha blood, yet accepting it all at once. During this strange exchange, he was extremely ill, feverish, and his left eardrum burst from the pressure of build of fluid in his ears. This effectively ruined his hearing. At this point he was considered a failed experiment. Just before they pulled the plug on him, he was miraculously revived and recovered from the incident, still losing 70-80 percent of his hearing, but his body accepted the blood. This strange event was described the scientist later as a form of “Compensation” for the unnaturally bestowed power that was the Uchiha blood. It was too powerful for someone other than one born with the bloodlimit. Their most recent experiment yielded some interesting finds that would never be published to the public.
At the age of 6, the young child began to learn sign language rather than the common he had been learning all his life. Now being told to focus mostly on the hand gesture language, he was lucky that he could still hear a little bit. It was almost as if everyone was very far away, or so his hearing made it seem. The only thing that kept him centered was his martial body training, something that was prescribed to him a year prior so that his body could overcome his “Compensation”. This made his body physically fit and resilient. He trained ardently, and learned sign language up until he reached the age of 8, when he was officially introduced to the other test subjects. By now, he harbored a love hate emotional feeling towards his captors and parents. He felt that they only enjoyed torturing him, but at the same time he didn’t know any better. This would continue on until he was paired with a strange Mabuki girl who was deemed his partner. They would be pitted against another individual for their survival and through his strength and the girls support they were able to kill their adversaries. It was at this point, during this moment of combat that they would be rescued by Kumogakure, and would hopefully began to live a new life of fresh starts, but were they too far gone? Were they monsters?
