Personality:
Turok was a quiet man, very quiet. He doesn't speak common but sign language so does most of his conversation with grunts and body language. This strange behavior and his strange looks lead him to be somewhat of an outcast. A trait that he has taken very personally. Turok doesn't feel for people but doesn't go out of his way to do harm either, his life is about just one thing survival.
Quiet by nature also meant that he was also not so expressive in words of his feelings. But he would make known how he felt usually with his fist or his sword. This man was of monstrous size and looks considered himself a monster. He would seek out tests of fortitude and will to make sure he was up to survival and combat. He knew his body was that of a hunter and so that was what he became.
Turok was actually quite smart for his rough upbringing. He wasn't naturally book learned but his quiet and patient ways allowed him to observe the natural world around him. He was at home in the wilds or in the water. The seaside castle he grew up in made him a very hard person in many senses. But he surprisingly never became cruel or wanton of destruction.
He was at most indifferent to other people. A person survives or dies by their own strength. The weak die and the strong rule. Now he knew there was different kinds of strength but if you had no kind one was doom to die. All things die in time, which gave him a morbid outlook. Death and life held little meaning to him, most things did. He knew only a few things mattered gaining strength and enduring trials.
Turok also was very disciplined in his life habits. As a mercenary and as a soldier there was always a need for vigilance and structure. The battlefield was always chaos so to balance that he kept himself in order. Cleaning his gear and taking care of his duties daily. It was what made him stand out as a mercenary even as his size and abilities made him stand out from people.
Appearance:
Turok's appearance was barely called human though he was barely that in his mind as well. This man was very tall. He was taller than most and of such breath that he have an intimidating appearance. Born with scaly skin then adopted into the clan of Sharks. This gave his whole appearance of a lizard or of a shark, even his face was flat and broad.
Turok had three rows of razor sharp teeth in his broad mouth. He had a large fearsome appearance for his relatively docile nature. His skin was a light scaly color. He wears mostly muted clothing with only his armor being shiny. Even then it was rare anything shined as he worked in the deep woods or oceans most of the time. He wasn't one with his clan as unable to take the ritual but still looked close to them.
To hide his features he generally wore his helmet. Intimidation came easy with his imposing size and silent demeanor. Turok knew how to use his appearance to the advantage of his employer. He fought on a many battlefield in the past so he has scars in a lot of locations. Turok has the look of a heavy person even though he steps with the lightness of a scout.
Turok has a few identifying features if you could get him out of his armor. It was rare that one could as he was raised from a very young age to expect to be attacked at any time. The constant vigilance and wariness meant he needed to ready at any moment. So he got used to sleeping and everything while in armor. The only times he was out of the armor was to bathe.
Thanks to the transformation and his own natural deformities he ended up with scaly skin and odd eyes. His eyes were of such a light blue one could swear he was blind. But he could see quite well indeed. His eyes were such that certain people stuck out in his vision more so than others. And he learned with some training he could see the heat signatures of people.
Background:
Turok grew up as a lesser cousin to his noble relatives. Early in his life, before he could remember he lost both his mother and his father. But his noble family took in this odd boy. They were of the Shark clan but knew that his body would already be tougher than most. They began the rituals of toughing this orphan boy of their family through bloody trials.
The ennobled Shark clan family that took their poor family member in made him hunt and fight on a daily basis. They were not without any empathy because they provided the boy a huge sword and armor to work with. But that was where the end of the help had. From that point it was up to Turok to survive in shark filled coastal waters and a dangerous property where monstrous creatures prospered.
Every night to come home to a bed he would have to fight his cousins or some of the vicious hounds for both the privilege of food and straw to sleep on. The country castle he grew up in had a small underground arena where he fought. And there was no thing as submission it was to the death or not at all. Death and combat became a daily trial until he was finally granted the 'honor' of killing a Sand Tiger Shark.
At this point he had grown quite large and the now beastly appearance did not help. He was so use to killing and fighting the only good he ever saw himself was as a soldier. So using the skills he learned in his adopted family's castle he hired himself out as a mercenary. Finding that he had little love for his family and little skills beyond fighting this made the most sense.
As a mercenary he went where ever the battles were bloodiest. Never once did he speak more than he had to through sign language. He wasn't unnecessarily cruel but he wasn't nice either. Life was about one thing to him survival. Survival and the next great battle all that occupied his mind for several years as he wondered the lands to make his way. This life of his was a test of survival and endurance.
