"Sudden hail does have a vulnerability. If dancing ice is deflected, and sudden hail was avoided, then your back would be left open to the enemy for that brief moment. This is when iten shimo, moving frost, comes in. After a successful koodoori koori, you move your blade behind you and hold it vertically against your spine. However, this move doesn't answer every threat to your back which is why you need to be proficient with nameru," Junichi explained.
Inoryu nodded and reached behind him to align the wooden knife to his spine. He got a feel for the posture before inverting to his other hand and repeating on the other side. "You could defend a horizontal attack which are prevalent in styles consisting of swords and other weapons." Junichi said. "It is a common technique after dancing ice which is why it was integrated into gintsuki no seiko mai."
The chunin assumed the flowing ice stance and swiftly executed dancing ice, inverting his stance and swirling while slashing at the air. As he followed through with the movement, he placed the wooden knife against his spine before completing the spin and resuming flowing ice. He then inverted his stance, transitioning his main side to his off side and gracefully transitioning the knife to the other hand, he executed dancing ice again. As he followed through, he placed the knife against his spine before completing he movement and resuming flowing ice.
