In a time before ninja nations, the daimyo of Kaminari had hired nobles known as samuraito serve as his guardsmen and in the nation's army. The prestigious Saigou ichizoku possessed many men who pledged their loyalty to the country leader, housed in Enrai - but amongst them, only a handful truly stood out in the eyes of the public. There had been one - a Saigou Katashi - that had become the right hand to the Daimyo. Through his lineage, which continually bore samurai with a strong natural fervor to serve their lord, a family some centuries later would give birth to a male child that could potentially disrupt the samurai legacy of the Saigou clan...

Lightning bolts disrupted electrical circuitry in the hospital; from the mountains, thunder boomed across the land like earthquakes during a time of dismay for the Saigou clan. A mother of two twins had been in labor with now her third child. Katsuro, the father, had been away due to a recent war breaking out beyond the known realm of the ninja world. It would seem that some forces of Kumogakure no Sato had been sent north into Hoshi no Kuni, to deal with a cybernetic threat stemming from that region of the world. In lieu of being accompanied to the hospital by her husband, Sayaka was brought there by her teenage children, who had already been Chuunin level shinobi of the village. The storm outside was relentless, and threatened to shut down all manner of operating any electrical technology needed to perform a safe birthing procedure. In her labor, Sayaka thought of her husband and his own current problems---the least she could do, she felt, was survive and successfully deliver the last child of the Saigou home. She had been a woman not willing to displease or worry her husband, and that made the family strong.

Through intense hours, she winced, half-fainted and fought to bear the male child that had been putting up a fight, it would seem; for no matter what she did, the child only seemed to regress into her womb, which was a considerable problem given the current circumstances. With a final stretch of effort, the woman's endurance had been rewarded: the albicant crown of a small boy pushed out slowly as the iryounin present worked diligently to ensure that the power did not fail, and that she or the newborn did not die. Now with the shrieking infant wrapped in her embrace, she looked upon him and smiled, for it was a good sign that Ranmaru looked just like his father who had been called to war for the country. Time slowly passed as the winter of the northern hemisphere swept across the land of Lightning. To the nurturing Sayaka, it felt like Katsuro would never return...

After several months time, a figure loomed at the door. Drenched in sweat from the long journey home from Hoshi-kuni, Katsuro returned in the late spring of the following year, and to his relief, he had heard Ranmaru's feeble cry for the first time. It brought tears to the seasoned war veteran's eyes. The twins he had a decade prior had blonde hair like their mother, but Ranmaru was seen as a gift, having possessed a similar likeness to his male progenitor. Now reunited with his family, time seemed to spin in blurring revolutions. It was not long before Ranmaru turned five years old that his elder mother retired from the field as a medical kunoichi and began to work at the Kouki Hospital. The twins, Akio and Akiko, would look after their younger brother and train him up in the way of the bokken when he came of age. By six, he had already began to manifest his spirit in the form of chakra; and had also started to manipulate the element lightning, like his father and siblings. Ranmaru was extremely eccentric in his youth and did things not custom to children his age. Instead of playing pranks or games, he chose to read or spend a majority of his time by himself, choosing to rather focus on working on his own abilities, than lollygagging with his like-aged peers. He grew like a shoot of bamboo, and had easily began to pick up on more fighting styles and techniques that his brother Akio shared with him; Akiko, and her quirky nature, gave Ranmaru a sort of role model to look up to while he was still in search of himself. By the time he had turned ten, he showed tremendous potential to join the ranks of the Kumogakure shinobi hierarchy, and was immediately placed in the ninja program at the academy.

Ranmaru's time at Kumo Academy was well spent learning the fundamentals of shinobi-iri. His father had already instilled in him a sharp mentality, and with the aid of his elder ANBU operative siblings, the adolescent Fulgurian stayed ahead of the curve in his courses. Of course, however, like many children, Ranmaru got in a few skirmishes with jealous classmates or bullies that saw no potential in themselves. He had been more or less a prodigy of the body arts---none of his peers could stand to his erratic fighting techniques, nor to the surge that could be felt through his use of Raiton. In three years time, he had managed to graduate a year earlier than many from his freshman class and was awarded the title of Genin, under the hitai-ate of the Hidden Cloud.

During his early teenage years, Ranmaru had many teammates come and go. Or rather, he was the one that came and went; he could never spend too much time around others, for they did not move at a physical or mental speed as he, so he found solitude more comforting than the pestering demeanor of others. This allowed the ninja an opportunity to step out on his own within the countryside, and at times given his seemingly "unlimited" freedom, he chose to do as he pleased with his time and energy. More often than not, though, this mode of thinking landed him into trouble and not praise. His mother had told him occasionally in the past about the day he was born. He had heard fairytales of creatures called 'Tengus' and wondered if a spirit followed him, causing him bouts of misfortune. These thoughts would continue to harbor in his subconsciousness, and would further manifest as he soon developed a peculiar ability to teleport or blink from his exact location to that of another within close proximity to his initial placement. Ranmaru felt like he had been plagued by a lingering spirit, but it seemed to have its pros, despite the unsettling drawbacks.

With his tenure as a Genin increasing well into half a decade, Katsuro took his youth aside while out in Shimo on a mission to further instill discipline within him.

"My son... who shares my exact likeness, listen to me: our forefathers had been brave men.." his father began as he placed a large firm hand on the lithe teen's muscular shoulder; "We hail from the Saigou samurai, those same men who gave their lives to the Daimyo and who clung to their Bushido." With electric blue eyes staring each other down, Ranmaru tried to absorb the serious message behind his father's words. When Katsuro noticed the lack of zeal in the boy's eye, he sighed. "The point I am trying to get to is that you should serve whoever you feel is your lord or Daimyo. Do not waver in that sense. Cling to what belief you have, and see to it that your Daimyo is pleased with your efforts, even if your Daimyo is yourself." Upon hearing these words, a spark fluxed in the teenager's eye; his father caught a glimpse of it and smiled, nodding. The two went on to complete their mission, and Ranmaru had taken on the mien of a different man. He felt surer now of his purpose, and used the skills that he possessed to please first himself, and thus his father. They later returned to the Hidden Village of Cloud after a four-month-long mission and were greeted with welcoming arms.

Outfitted with deep words of wisdom from his father, Ranmaru set out to expand his knowledge of the shinobi world, and simultaneously increase his repertoire, while attempting to stick to a mode of straightforward thinking, despite his deranged and volatile disposition.

[ Personality ]



Perhaps quite common among the Fulgetra men is a natural volatile spirit, much like lightning. There are those who can harness, and thus control that mental power, and in the other hand, there are those who's power scatters as lightning -- meaning that it is unable to be properly harnessed, and is something not suited to follow a straightforward life. Saigou Ranmaru is in essence, the best of both worlds: precise lightning with eccentric tendencies that some times doesn't strike in the same place twice. He is like a ball of electric energy, spring loaded to do what ever it is that his chaotic soul chooses; but there is reason to believe that another, perhaps, incorporeal, entity influences the overall personality and disposition of this shinobi of Kumogakure no Sato.

Raised from a long line of samurai, Ranmaru was first instilled with the belief system to become the best at what you do, for who you are. There was little room for error in his ichizoku, yet he was more often than not forgiven for his mercurial ways. His mind is keen, like a sword's edge, and can move swift like lightning. With that being said, he does not necessarily dwell on subjects for too long before making a decision. In the heat of the moment, that could mean either life or death; but in solitude, or when one is plagued by the irrational thoughts of some queer intelligence, that causes him to seem extremely fickle in his methods. He hardly has any friends because of his nature to randomly pick and choose when, where and who to perform for. Because of this personality negative, he has never managed to keep a girlfriend for a long extended period of time, or to thoroughly pursue any art of mind, body, or spirit. He has the tendency to try something once; perhaps a few more times; then never return to it. It is a rarity for Ranmaru to passively continue to do any simple thing, because there are so many complex things going on around him. He is as organic as the embodiment of lightning.

Despite his weak will to follow any one thing with hot fervor, the teenager has a natural leaning towards the way he sees himself. In saying this, it can be said that Ranmaru is no slackard--he keeps to a rigorous training routine, which promotes thoughts of continuation and therefore achievement. He is by no means the sharpest tool in the shed, but only the quickest to try to perform what task he is presented with. There is little wiggle room for him to actively hesitate, unless he is plagued by the unruly and brooding thoughts of the unfortunate energies that pool around his personal ethos. Much like his father, he has a liquid ambition that flows throughout his entire being to increase his widespread know-how of many forms of taijutsu. He is not exactly narcissistic, but does adore the perfection he sees in his physique; yet that is soon sullied by the gross and depraved thoughts of the voices echoing in his head. Because of the perverse nature of these alternative thoughts, he is quite shy around men and women, and while not insecure, does not feel totally secure in who he is entirely. 

With a heart that holds true to its own devices, Ranmaru cannot be seen as simply good or evil. One minute, the Genin could be saving a cute damsel, who he wasn't even sure that he could rescue, in distress; and the next, he could be a man hired, and possessed by ghastly thoughts, to kill the same woman in question. Two ends of the spectrum meet in the middle and Ranmaru can be seen shooting like lightning from a cloud to either end to achieve his ends. There are however, mundane things that he does not tolerate, and seems to be capable of restraining himself from. His father Katsuro had many times told him to seek the inner sanctums of his mind in meditation if he had a difficult time in choosing which path to take. Had there not been a sinister and strange air about him, Ranmaru would have surely been capable of always choosing the higher road. Low roads, he learned, sometimes did lead to rewards that would have otherwise been unable to obtain if he were thoroughly good in his heart.

[ Appearance ]



Sharp features define the lithe build of Ranmaru, a teenager raised in the hard mountainous regions of Kaminari no Kuni. He is, in essence, the spitting image of his father, Katsuro. With charming, masculine features that supplement his natural grace, it is of no surprise why many village women and kunoichi find him attractive. The occasional man, too, may see him as an object of lust, but he does not stray to the wayward thoughts of the Tengu spirit inhabiting his aura. As one of Fulgetra descent, he possesses a natural robust physique, as if he were a mountain chiseled by lightning into the shape of man.

One of the most noticeable features of the Saigou youth is his white and flowing hair. Much like his father, and his father's father before him, Ranmaru was blessed with a crown of curling albicant locks. Usually, his hair is unkempt and falls down into his face; on occasion, he may tie it up when meditating or practicing his kenjutsu skills. He has a fierce face, with serious eye brows situated above his piercing electric blue eyes. Again, he has such sharp physical features... his nose comes to a point just over his pressed lips. As one who is always thinking this and that, it is not uncommon to see his face undergo numerous expressions within a moment's notice. His temperament ranges from chill, to vapid, to intense. On the rare chance that he does smile, a set of immaculate teeth can be seen lining his mouth.

He houses his muscular frame within clothing made in Lightning country. Most, if not all, of the clothing he wears is black in color. To see Ranmaru sporting a color that is not neutral must mean one of two things: one, he is on a special mission that requires a disguise; or two, there is a formal event going on. The material of his usual everyday attire is like carbon fiber, that enables total free movement of the body and limbs, and that offers him a better cushion from physical blows when compared to cotton or finer fabrics. The body-suit is composed of different elements, but appears to be a one-piece suit. Over the chest, he wears a tactical vest that houses hundreds of star-shuriken. From underneath his taut outfit, it is evident that he works out; if he happens to take off his clothing, his musculature is one to be deeply admired by wandering eyes who enjoy statuesque builds of young men. Ranmaru is of a height of five foot, eleven inches and can smoothly maneuver; his weight does not hinder him whatsoever, although is can come as a surprise to those who expected such a strong man to way so little when compared to others in his immediate physical category. Around his waist, he keeps his Cloud-issued hitai-ate, as well as a single scroll pouch, which he uses more often than not to house a mission or -jutsu scroll. When the weather turns sullen, he sports a black cloak to keep himself and his wares water free. 

Ranmaru keeps on his person at all times his longsword katana, Shuurai. The blade of the weapon is approximately 42 inches, and the hilt is 10 inches, thus enabling him to wield it two-handed if the situation calls for it. The hilt shares a similar likeness to his eyes and has white streaks scattered all across its length. On occasion, he will also sport his large disk, known as Banrai. Despite the massive size of the two-handed weapon, he holds it with relatively ease given his strength. There aren't too many fighting styles that are used to incorporate the large weapon, but as a Taijutsu master he aims to be one day strong enough to throw it as easily as a hira-shuriken in Nagewaza. To Ranmaru, his aesthetic can either make or break him. That is why he is so diligent in keeping himself tidy nearly at all times, and keeps his boots polished and white hair dirt and grime free, despite his occupation as a low-ninja that is sent on all but the most serious of assignments.

Description: This Ritual can be performed at any time of day or night. The Weapon Gene is what gives the Demon Weapon the ability to transform. There are two ways a member gains The Demon Weapon Gene. 1) By being a descendant of a family line that has the Demon Weapon Gene (Start Up Ryo is still Deducted). 2) By receiving the Demon Weapon Gene later in life. The Ritualist creates a concoction, using the flesh of Protean, and injects the blood of Protean into the target of the Ritual. The target of the ritual then makes a Pact with Death himself asking for further power as the blood and flesh overtakes the body of the target. The subject dies and is ritually buried in hallowed ground. After the interment, the Ritualist invokes a prayer to Death asking him to bestow a power of weapon and steel. At the conclusion of the ritual the subject is unburied as life is restored. There are no Type nor Subtype alterations to the target. After the Ritual has been performed the target is able to maintain all of its Bloodlimit Attributes if it has one. It can no longer take any additional Creation Rituals. The Target may learn all techniques in the Mabuki Clan. If the user learns a "Weapon Form" they may "Partially" transform a portion of their anatomy (usually the arm) into a single Non-Chakra Weapon within 1/2 a round. The Limb remains transformed for a number of rounds equal to 3 + Impeccable Will, and cannot change back until the duration ends. User may perform this technique a number of times equal to 5 per Class Level. The transformed limb has all the properties of the Weapon Form, but is considered a Natural Weapon for all purposes. This ritual is ruined if a Raise Dead Ritual is performed on the subject or if the Subject is beheaded before they are brought back as a Demon Weapon. Performing the Ritual leaves the Ritualist weakened for 1d10 days.

Effect: Four basic stances used in the art of swordsmanship.

Description: Muso no Kamae , Uranami no Kamae , Roppo Kuji no Kamae , Dato no Kamae , This stance is four in one. Each one is slightly different in some sort of way, but the legging position, the position where their balance will stay pure will always be the exact same. What is used within this stance is for mostly attack style forms. Each stance is different in its own way as each is same in every way as well. The feet for all four stances are the same. The user's left leg, or right leg will be forward and the knee would be bent in almost a ninety degree form. The back leg will be placed far back, about a foot or two past the shoulder along the upper body. For Muso no Kamae their hands are upwards holding their sword as the forward arm that is the same as the leg as it is holding the end of the sword. The user holds the front end of the sword with the other arm. The sword is then pointing towards the back of the body as the blade is pointing upwards. The sword is rested gently against the bicep of the back arm as the user holds the sword carefully. For Uranami the user keeps the sword along their chest area as it is pointing backwards of the body. The sword is pointing downwards slightly as the upper body is slanted forward. The Roppo Kuji holds the sword the same way as the sword is more slanted almost touching the ground. The sword is pointing backwards as well, and the user keeps the blade downwards. The final position is the Dato no Kamae is slightly more different than that of the others. What occurs is that the user holds the sword up high in the air with the back arm as the arm is held straight backwards away from the body. The forward arm is shot forward in a straight form, as the user keeps this position having their leg and upper body in a straight form in a diagonal form.

Description: Identification: Average; Hardness: Dependent on Carrying Case; Armour Points/Inch: Dependent on amount of Parchment; A scroll always have seals using an expensive and heavy surface of Parchment; they are reinforced with leather boundaries for protection, or even metal rods for larger scrolls. Scrolls are usually 8 inches by 12 inches in size. Scrolls are often rolled from both ends to create a double tube for easier unfurling when they are needed for using. The leather boundary or metal rods cost as much as a helmet depending on the material used (2,000 Ryo for Metal Rods). A single scroll uses 1 Parchment Sheet. Description: A cloak is a type of loose garment that is worn over indoor clothing. It protects the wearer from the cold, rain or wind for example, or it may form part of a fashionable outfit or uniform. Cloaks have been used by myriad historic societies; many climates favor wearing a full-body garment which is easily removed and does not constrain the wearer with sleeves. Over time cloak designs have been changed to match fashion and available textiles. Cloaks generally fasten at the neck or over the shoulder, vary in length, from hip all the way down to the ankle, mid-calf being the normal length. They may have an attached hood, and may cover and fasten down the front, in which case they have holes or slits for the hands to pass through. However, cloaks are almost always sleeveless.
