Transpired, recent events left Harue wondering about herself and her place in the world, ninja or not. It made her think about her soul and why she'd been so recently introduced to the use of it, and it made her think about whether or not she wanted to truly do what she was doing. Did she want to cart shield and sword? Or did she want to unlock some different type of potential? The longer she lived, the more she felt like she was on some sort of path to legacy, but perhaps not her own. Was she following in footsteps, or was she creating her own? She didn't have the answers, any of them, and it was coming to a point where she didn't want to bother with asking the questions.
Mostly, she can't stop thinking about her encounter in the Land of Rain. A mysterious pair of pinkettes... Harue couldn't help but try to forget them in vain. Just when she was thinking that she'd gone some stretch of time without a followup from them, despite the older man promising to meet again, things were seemingly about to fall into place. Destiny had a way of creeping up on you just when you let your guard down, or maybe it took opportunities to attack from the dark. Either way, Harue wasn't expecting to be reminded of them for some time, especially not so suddenly.
The morning sun is glowing over the village of Grass, a fresh sheet of gentle snow blanketing parts of the otherwise lush earth. The sky is clear save for a few pleasant clouds, and the early Winter was still a bask of warm winds. The snow melted under pink paws as Ōmo walked through the streets of Kusa, Harue perched on his back, just below his shoulder blades. Today was a particularly nice day if she said so herself, and it reflected in her mood. While recently she had been somewhat dreary, today she felt lighthearted and nostalgic. She took a moment to stop at the academy; it was on her way to the tower, after all. And she wasn't scheduled to come in early anyways - she had time to spare. As she stands a few meters before the familiar school entrance, listening to the sound of young ninja who roughhoused and chatted before class started, she simply thought. It felt so odd staring at young pre-Genin; she'd been that small once, and if someone had told her about the responsibilities she'd have when she got older, she would have scoffed and said not me! While she sits on her beast's back and watches the schoolyard from afar, speckled by the shadows cast by the tree she stands under, the pinkette's heart thumps hard singularly when she catches an ominous figure in the corner of her eye. Narrowing her eyebrows, she pretends to not notice and instead takes to moving on her way. Though Ōmo edges towards the direction of the tower, Harue directs him with a hand in his mane, and they turn down an opposite side street. Harue watches from her peripheral as the figure stalks her and her beast, and she turns down another street. The buildings look a bit run down now as they head into the older, poorer parts of the village.
This person... they were clearly tailing the pinkette. But why? She wasn't special, there was nothing about her that was worth following.. What could they want? Her heart races as her mind does the same, countless outcomes passing before her eyes, all of them gruesome. She doesn't consider a friendly approach, so with a sharp breath, she nudges her heel into the base of her mount's ribs. Without hesitation, the pink pair disappears around a turn, zigzagging through the back alley paths. Tall, brick buildings narrow around them until they've come to a cul-de-sac type opening. Instead of houses, vendors line the end of the street, trees and the edge of the village behind them.
"It doesn't matter," a voice says from behind Harue. "I can see you no matter where you hide."
