Valerys grabbed all of her gear and her weapons and prepared herself for the mission that lie aheead of her. Although she hadn't been excited for a C-rank mission, it was true that it had been a while and she was excited to do something like this for the first time in a while. She wore the face of Victoria Uchiha, a blonde girl with golden eyes (save her sharingan) who wore a white and blue dress, sporting a messenger pack over her left shoulder filled with all sorts of jars, gadgets, and poisons. On her pack was her spear that had been gifted to her by the Kazekage, Shiki, that he had named Bitter Mercy. It was fully extended as a regular polearm and a red scarf blew in the breeze from its shaft. Valerys wore all of this, even her face, with pride as she went to meet her cargo. After a bit of a walk she saw them, elegantly dressed men and a few women standing against a caravan pulled by several horses.
Valerys walked up to the group and said, "Hello? Are you the merchants who hired the ninja of Sand?" One of the men, with long black hair, told her that they were. "We are traveling not far outside of the village." Valerys wondered why they needed protecting and all the man would say is, "That we travel and trade with rare and valuable goods, the likes of which many want to get their hands on. We cannot risk allowing someone to steal what we possess." Valerys could appreciate wanting to keep a secret, but at the same time she was truly interested in what they might be trading. She tried to barter with them, but they didn't seem interested, and Valerys settled for leading them on this voyage. She hopped into the caravan and before long a brown-haired man was pulling on the reigns, telling the horses to go.
In all there were seven of them who needed to be escorted, which Valerys found oddly symbolic. Three of them were women, and she sat next to them in the caravan with the men across. It felt a little odd, but she wasn't used to their customs and so didn't say anything. As the journey began, one of the men named Abo told her about the goods that he sold. He was an herbalist it turned out, and as much as Valerys wanted to buy from him they said that it wouldn't have been appropriate. The rest of the trip was mostly quiet, and them trying to beat the hot sun, until they got outside of the village. It wasn't too long before one of the tires on the caravan fell off its axel. Of course... Valerys thought to herself, no idiot. She got out of the caravan and prepared herself, taking out Bitter Mercy as she stepped from the door. No one was out there yet.
