Effect: A Basic upright stance used in boxing.

Description: Picture To adopt an Upright Stance, you should stand with your legs roughly shoulder-width apart. Your back foot should be about half a step behind your front foot. If your dominant boxing hand is your right hand, your left foot will lead. Lift your right heel off the ground by about 3 inches and point both feet inward (although do not exaggerate this movement). If you lift your heel too far off the ground, or turn your feet too far inward, you will become unbalanced. As a test, imagine someone pushing you from any direction. In a properly balanced stance, you should be able to maintain an upright position and not fall to the ground or sway from side to side. To increase the stability of your stance, keep your knees and hips slightly bent but make sure your back is straight. Your lead fist (which will be your left fist if your dominant boxing hand is your right hand) should be positioned vertically at eye level, approximately six inches away from your face. Your right fist should be positioned next to your chin, with your elbow held against your ribcage. This is good defensive positioning and will effectively protect your body. Whilst watching televised boxing matches, you may have noticed the boxers tapping their cheeks with their hands. This repetitive action acts as a reminder to keep fists up at all times and is especially important as the match progresses and energy levels drop. To further protect yourself from blows from your opponent, keep your chin pressed against your chest. Punches to the jaw often cause knock-outs, so it is essential to keep this stance throughout the boxing match.

It has been years since Kahimi has last seen her father. A man that although she dislikes to admit it, generally adores and is inspired by. This feeling towards her father is one that she can't deny, which makes her emotional whenever she looks onward towards her home. At least get old home. The land here is aged in a way that only a person who has maintained it for years could allow.

Everything here, is reminiscent of the past that Kahimi reminds in pristine details. As if her imagination was coming to life, she could picture events of the past as if they were the present. Her younger self growing up here was an adventure in its own right. But now...as an adult Kahimi can't help, but feel a little unsure about herself. On her decisions thus far. It was years ago that she learned so many things here. The air around her felt and smelled stale the more she traveled to the old gym she used to use. Coming here, began to fill her pulseless body with multiple emotions at once. All bringing her to the point in which memories began to replay themselves more vividly.

As she stood quietly within the gym itself her eyes fell upon the big fighting ring in front of her. By then her memories of relentless training began to return. As if by second nature her eyes panned over to a worn, punching bag still hung up on its sturdy chain, and suspension frame. A soft smile subtly curling on her lips, as her eyes scanned the beat up training equipment. With slow casual steps the pale skinned woman, made her way to the punching bag. Her hand soon able to reach out, and touch it's rough, firm surface. To feel it again filled her next breath with nostalgia. Making her sigh sadly as she used to love the sight of this place.

That dreaded feeling would cause her to tense her extended left hand into a fist as it remained pressed against the punching bag. Soon...her body would naturally begin to adjust itself into some sort of form. Her arms gradually moving into a set state in front of her. Her right arm, now sharply bent and pressed against her torso with a balled right hand pressed against the corresponding side of her chin.

With sharp eyes Kahimi eyed the bag like an enemy. Her body now methodically setting itself into some sort of fighting position. Her legs now positioning her feet in strategic places by second nature. Her left foot holding its heel off the floor slightly while her right foot acted as an anchor. Her body now angled in a completely different manner as it was straightened out and poised to strike. Her left hand already aligned her face with a six inch gap in between. It's without question that Kahimi had suddenly taken up a stance suited for punches. And with her mind and body thinking and acting on instinct. She began to reenact the past she remembers so well...

Effect: The peek-a-boo guard is a defensive style that is extremely popular with professional and amateur boxers. This type of guard is also commonly known as ‘the earmuffs’.

Description: Picture To adopt an effective peek-a-boo position, hold your hands next to each other in front of your face. Keep your elbows tight against your body whilst maintaining a relaxed stance. This guard will minimize damage from direct strikes to the head but it is a difficult guard from which to mount a counter-attack. The main drawback to the peek-a-boo is that it leaves the boxer vulnerable to hooks from the opponent. The peek-a-boo defensive style is especially suitable for shorter fighters. This is primarily because shorter boxers have shorter arms and are therefore able to gain more leverage in looping punches. Furthermore, shorter fighters will be able to cover the gaps in the guard position more effectively. Taller fighters, who will presumably have longer torsos, are more vulnerable to strikes on the body than shorter boxers. This is not to say that they should avoid employing the peek-a-boo guard but they should always be more aware of this increased vulnerability. NOTE: Only works when the user is in the Peek-a-Boo guard position. When first learned this technique gives the Armour a hardness of a 20 against Bludgeoning Damage. Each time learned the hardness of the Armour increases by 5 giving a max of a Hardness 40 at "S" Rank.

"Good stance, but you are way too tense, you are going to get overwhelmed fighting like that..." A displined and straightforward toned voice echoed in her mind. As if the memories of the past were happening all over again, Kahimi could see the bag back when it was new. Back when she first learned how to protect herself under her father's training. In mere seconds her memories became less hazy, and more reminiscent of a whole scenario embedded into her mind. She felt fifteen years younger now. Her wind tuned body, still developing at such a younthful age. She was nothing, but a feather back then hardly even gathering her identity as a being amongst other conscious creatures. Back then...this is how she and her father bonded.

In mere moments Kahimi's arms and clenched hands would gradually position themselves into a new stance. Taking a much more defensive posture. Soon her torso would be shielded behind a wall made up purely of her arms, as if bracing for any move she could perceive a sand bag to make. Her breathing now becoming fainter as, she felt uncomfortable going back on the past. Thus her sudden eagerness to act on any thing delayed as she questioned on if she would be prepared to revisit those times. Her face now half covered up from the bottom by her hands, leaving focused eyes staring straight ahead over her fists. Naturally, Kahimi's access of imagination broadened. And immediately her memory, reminded her of the teachings she received when this technique was first learned.

As if she could live it all over again, she involuntarily flinched as her body failed to move to protect herself from the harmless hit she knew was coming from her father. The feeling was all too real for her to simply ignore as she stood in that exact same spot. Now looking at the very ring that used to be her training grounds. Her stance weakened, immediately as she could already see her younger self in action attempting to recover from a sudden bopping to the side of the head by her father using training pads as gloves. The frustrated emotion her younger self portrayed was far too relatable to the now adult Kahimi watching on from the sidelines as she runs through her past as if it was a documentary. She knows exactly what her younger self was feeling at that time.

"This stance is good, but like I said you are too tense. You were so focused on getting it right, that you couldn't even react to a hook coming your way. Which is understandable. A good hook can break through the peek-a-boo stance without much trouble. So...lets make sure you don't use it when it's not needed." Her father's voice would say. Just like how she remembers it. And of course from here only more memories flooded in after that point on.

Those replayed memories are haunting lessons of bittersweet experiences for the Yukikage. Nothing except a grueling series of sounds emitting from the intense training between a daughter and her father played out within the old gym. Kahimi remembers those details fondly. If her mother were there, she would have scolded her father for being so rough with their daughter. Every single unblocked or parried blow taken to her fleshless body, was an unspoken lesson for her. Out here in the cold Winters in the village, one learns by their mistakes harder than most may think. Kahimi can almost feel old the discomfort that her wind-made body felt simply thinking of such things. The disfigurement after a rough gut busting punch from her father was one of many grievances for sure.

Back then she was younger and even more oblivious to the reasons behind her father's methods. She used to hide her tears behind her gloves and fists back then. Despite the discomfort her father hardly held pity. The piercing emotionless stares he occasionally gave; is all that he'd need to show that she failed at something he wanted her to learn or see. Her anger, fueled her ambition to learn what it was her father always saw in her back then. The frustration of trying to escape the fear of failure is something she still has yet to conquer today. However if there is anything she knows she got right, it was standing up every time she fell back down...

A small smirk found its way on the young woman's soft face as she continued to fallback on her past experiences, during training so many years ago. The images cycled like, a highlight reel for her. She remembers the patterns her trained her with.

Left Jab, Right Jab, Body Hook, Strong Right Punch Center. That combination was ingrained in her memory more, than most things she can remember today. Its funny to think on how upset her father could get, whenever she couldn't keep up. Maybe it was too much tough love, clouding his judgement. Yet, that harsh love trained her defensive reflexes to be as keen as they can possibly be. While her eyes were closed, Kahimi began to reenact the combination she had to defend herself from. Timing, and confidence was everything. The Peek-a-boo stance as dumb as the name sounded to her- became a solid technique the more she used it. The more she learned the advantages and disadvantages.

Simply from "muscle" memory alone her body moved into the proper stance. Her arms although held together firmly, remained relaxed enough for her to keep herself from being static and slow. Her arms became the wall. The first two punches were fast, and frightening, but she remembers the old routine. Don't get scared. Her father was a sticker for letting fear become a weakness in the face of an enemy. So of course he naturally. become Kahimi's worst nightmare during training to teach her fearlessness. When the young pale lady finally opened her multi-colored eyes, she could picture an imaginary image of her father standing in front of her. His motions played fluently in her head, as she paced around the old wore-out boxing ring she currently stood in. Almost as if he was really there. Waiting to strike. And no matter what, her defensive posture remained unhindered as she moved. Locked on to an imaginary image looking to break through her defense. But this Kahimi knows better than her younger self. Nothing is allowed to get past her unless she lets them...
