Character Depth

Personality

Self-important. The dictionary definition of self-importance is: "a person’s exaggerated belief that s/he is a highly important (i.e. significant and consequential) individual." In Abner's mind, there is him, and everyone else in it. He's not wholly expressive of this thought, but puts himself and only him first. One should not expect Abner to do any favors unless he feels that he owes them it. Abner has a tendency to over-value the deeds he's done. 

Haughty. Abner's interests can be described as unconventional and slightly strange. He prefers the word, "artistic", however. He's not afraid nor ashamed of his interests and hobbies, some of which include coffee, and crafts. If someone else shares a liking, great. If not, he could not care less. There is some question as to if these are genuine interests of his or if he's just "keeping up with trends". 

Insecure. His bloodline, or rather, genetic makeup means that he'll never know what it's like to be fully human . Having known this from a young age, he grew resentful, curious and even ashamed of whom he is. In many ways, he still has yet to accept, self-actualize and "like" himself. In this way, he engages in a fair amount of impression management. 

Lazy and talented. In spite of some of his shortcomings or...less desirable personality characteristics, there is no doubt an adept learner. He's quick to catch on to things, and can easily "learn" the rules and roles of a situation. In this way, he's a natural survivor. Yet, this makes him rather complacent. He'd rather not make more than one mistake. If he finds himself in complete failure, rather than make the same mistake 100 times, he'll find out what went wrong, and address the issue, no matter how long it takes him to think it through. Why bother working harder when one can work smarter? Instructors and colleagues would describe this nature as laziness. He's content with things that just get the job done. 

Curious - The Amegakure genin might not be ambitious, but that's not to say he doesn't have a brain, and that's not to say he doesn't use it.  In pursuit of being a know-it-all, he's more than content to search for knowledge when the topic arouses him. Abner will go about these information searches in an efficient way. All he's known up to this point is the Rain Country. In fact, all he's known is the Village hidden in the Rain. At his core, he yearns for an adventure outside of the village limits. To this point, he is something of a natural seaman and explorer. 

Appearance - 

Mr. St. John is a young man with spiky, light-brown hair shaved into an undercut style, with the shaved portion being black. His hair is naturally straight and goes in all sorts of directions. Since this can be a nuisance, Abner prefers to keep the length of his hair short. He has small, intense brown eyes, and is said to have the same vicious look in when insulted. Above his eyes are small wispy brown eyebrows that seem to move with every contortion of his face. Abner is of average height and taut muscular build, and has a habitual scowl. His wingspan is above-average proportional to his height, giving the illusion that he is taller than his actual measurements. One should not be fooled, however, as it's just his arms that are long (and rather flimsy at that). His scowl makes him look somewhat annoyed or pestered. Often, this can lead others into believing him to be unfriendly. His acquaintances calls him "long face", not to dissimilar from a horse's.

He is often seen wearing the a brown jacket, as he complains of being cold often. This is worn with an olive-gray button-up shirt. His casual attire mostly consists of a white button-up shirt, dark pants, and a dark-brown vest. Along his waist is his belt lined with his water canisters. He typically ties is Amegakure protector plate along this belt as well. When among others, he'll occasionally take on a forest-green cloak to either blend in or cover himself. 

One of his distinctive traits is his posture. Neither slouching nor uptight, he aligns himself in a rather carefree position. He walks confidently, yet sometimes without striking purpose. One might say he looks bored, or even slightly agitated. It's almost as if every chore or action he does is bothersome or not in line with his daily agenda. 

Every once in a while, the Hozuki takes on a different appearance. This one is more physiological and defined more in posture than in explicit physical appearance. One might describe this as Abner's "determined state". When he finds himself lost and enthralled in something that interests him, there's a different glint in his eye. The usual smugness in his eyes are gone and replaced with fierce ambition. It's rare, but when it happens, those who know Abner take notice. 

True Jelly Form: This is Abner's biologic self, owed to his Hozuki lineage. As a member of this unique bloodline, nearly all of his body composition is made of liquid. Not exactly water, but resembling something closer to jelly, his skin is more similar to a smooth, viscous membrane. This "structure" is something of a mint-cyan color. While certain humanoid features like his eyes and face are visible, his structure is more free-form than an actual human body. 

Background:

Born the son of hard-working immigrants, Abner has spent much of his life in the Village Hidden in the Rain. As members of the Hozuki clan, they escaped to the Land of Rain's shinobi village in search of greater economic opportunity. Upon their arrival, they changed their family name and started a mom-and-pop convenience store Eventually their ethics and reliability earned the trust of locals and the business became a steady staple for Amegakure's residents.

Too young to realize nor appreciate his parents' ascension out of poverty, Abner only grew up in privilege. He took many of his fortunes in his upbringing for granted. To him, his parents' status was something that he aspired to rise from and dwarf. In a way, he was almost resentful of the fact that they were revered. What was so great about his parents anyway when he was the youngest genius in the village? 

Even after learning of his parents' story, there are several things that Abner took for granted. He and his older brother Rudolf were raised with the expectations of assuming the family business when they became of age. Naturally more talented than his older brother, Abner got by with just doing with minimal effort. His parents quickly caught wind of this, despite emphasizing the importance of effort and intentions.


So at age 14, Abner was given a choice: straighten up and adopt an attitude change or pursue a military career. In his father's eyes, time at Amegakure's famed ninja academy would make his son more disciplined. He gave him this decision as an ultimatum. Ever-stubborn, Abner was sent to the academy after insulting his mother and father's name. There were tears on both ends (though both sides tried their best to hide them).

Deep down, he felt the need to impress his parents. Abner wanted to make the St. John name proud. He just didn't have the maturity to admit that. Not to his parents, not to any acquaintances. In this point of Abner's story, he has only known himself to be among the smartest people, yet because of his bloodlimit, not exactly a "person". These facts have slowly manifested in Abner's brain, making him scornful of his peers, and curious as to what he "should" be. 

Still, Abner took on the challenge of becoming Shinobi. And he excelled. He made enough friends. Passed enough tests. And performed enough jutsus. Enough. After only a single year, Abner was able to graduate and obtain the rank of genin despite minimal efforts during his time there. But what greater challenges exist for our slippery genin?

Moreover, the water becomes more solid in the process as well, and certain techniques can even allow the user to increase the water's density or viscosity, making it a suitable element to capture the targets. Offensive water techniques seem to inflict harm from the sudden force that they exert, which would cause massive internal damage to a human. Any Save Difficulty mentioned in a technique, whether Fortitude or Will is based off of 10 + 2 per Class Level + Impeccable Will. Description: Wind release is 1 of the 5 basic elemental nature transformations. Most offensive Wind Release techniques are performed by making chakra as sharp and thin as possible, however, wind can also be generated as a large, concussive force to overwhelm a target. Wind-based techniques are mainly short to mid-ranged offensive techniques that combine brute force and keen precision to deal slashing damage. Wind Release also specifies in deflecting and even reflecting attacks. Wind Techniques come in 7 Wind Effects, which interfere with ranged attacks, or impose penalties on some skill checks. Effect: The Terza (Also called En Garde) is when the user holds the sword in a way that the outside of the hand looks towards the left side and the inside of the hand looks towards the left.

Description: Picture, Picture, Picture Nearly all masters agree on some variation of a stance referred to as “Terza Ward” and agree that it is superior for general use and defense. Feet shoulders width apart. Knees bent to distribute weight evenly between the legs. Front leg points forward. Back Leg is perpendicular to front leg making an "L" with both heels to easily move forward, backward and side to side. Hold sword arm out with arm slightly bent. Hold sword between forefinger and thumb. Chest faces away from opponent to give the opponent a smaller target to attack. Other arm is raised up to the head, or down by the hip. Some keep by the side of their body. Back arm is used for balance when coming to lunges. Back shoulder should never be ahead of the front shoulder. The deflection may also be used as a strike.

6) Seigan no Kamae and Chudan no Kamae

Effect: Two basic stances used in the art of swordsmanship.

Description: Seigan no Kamae, Chudan no Kamae The Seigan and Chudan no Kamae are similar in every aspect when it comes to looking at the opponent, having their feet placed down upon the floor, as well as the amount of pressure they have between both of their legs. The user keeps their right or left foot forward having their toes pointing forwards. Their opposite foot is shaped in an "L" shaped keeping their legs in equal motion. Their feet are perpendicular from one another as face forward their feet and legs are in shoulder width apart. This is used as a basic formation to where the user can move from either defensive, or defensive movements. For the Seigan no Kamae stance has their hands relaxed, grasped against the handle of the blade in question. The sword is pointing in a forty five degree angle as their arms are relaxed, hands close towards his hips as one would wait and relax. For the Chudan no Kamae the user keeps the same foot work as that of Seigan but their hands is brought up towards chest level as the sword that they hold is slightly more gripped proof. The sword is pointed forward as the blade is pointed down towards the ground. These stances are mostly known for parrying and blocking, as well as making quick attacks upon the opponent.

Both the knees and the body are straight, designed to create posture. Arch the back backwards slightly. This allows power to be generated for the legs. The chin must remain in the same posture as the shoulders; in essence, this means that the user must lower their chin to be level with the shoulders, while raising the shoulders and the arms for guarding purposes. The next step is to grasp the hands, keeping them raised to face level, crafting a guard with the forearms to allow defending against oncoming attacks. The eyes are straight forward, locking onto the opponent's abdomen for full view of oncoming strikes against the upper or lower body.

Effect: The user is capable of controlling the thickness of their transitional membrane. This technique is mandatory for all under the Hozuki bloodlimit. This is because it grants them their survival in battles and harsh weather conditions.

Drawback: Switching from ranks that are not next to each other takes 1 post (You cannot instantly switch from D rank thickness to B rank.). One can only switch their rank up or down one time per post.

Description:

During training, the user is capable of adjusting and altering their internal water pressure in their bodies. Doing so results in an increased density of their outer membrane. Chakra released from their nuclei protrusions allows water to be pressurized in a certain way underneath their transitional membrane thus resulting in the thickening and solidification of their skin. In order to switch from a higher rank of thickness to a lower, the user must decrease the amount of chakra released from their nuclei protrusions. Also, the user leaves their palms and the soles of their feet remain permeable (D ranked), thus allowing the usage of the water inside of them no matter what rank their in.



D ranked: Very thin and moist layer of skin. This is the default layer of skin the Hozuki are normally in. Under this rank, the skin is most permeable, meaning they are able to absorb large amounts of water. Although they feel no physical pain, ninjutsu and genjutsu based attacks can affect them. Also, this skin is not suggested for harsh weather conditions. Exceedingly hot or cold weather can evaporate them or freeze them easily..



C ranked: Under this rank, the transitional membrane is a similar thickness to that of the human skin. Can withstand any kind of weather conditions a human could. Since skin is more solidified, physical assaults on a Hozuki are more effective.



B ranked: Under this rank, the water within their bodies is pressurized by chakra to the point in which it resembles a rock like thickness and texture. An Hozuki under this rank becomes stronger when landing physical attacks by half the rank of the attack they are using (a D rank punch gets an extra E rank damage added on). Speed is decreased by half a movement.



A ranked: Under this rank, the water within their bodies are at the highest point of pressurization in which resembles a metal like thickness and texutre. An Hozuki under this rank becomes stronger when landing physical attacks by half the rank of the attack they are using. Speed is decreased by a full movement. Limbs are less prone to breaking. This state can only last for 3 posts before going back to D ranked thickness because it consumes a large amount of chakra.



Limit: Must belong to the Hozuki Bloodlimit, No slots are used up. Every Hozuki member begins with the D ranked version of this technique and work their way up.

Mugen Korosu (Infinite Breath)

Effect: People under the Hozuki bloodlimit are able to breath underwater for as long as they’d like.

Drawback: Some jutsus may not work underwater.

Description: Due to the evolution of the Sagasu Tribe, the Hozuki are able to breath underwater without the need to come up for oxygen. This may serve as an advantage for hiding from an opponent near bodies of water and surprise attack them. Remaining underwater is also a method of “relaxing” in order to become more energized.

Limit: Must belong to the Hozuki bloodlimit.


Kaishin Shimasu (Regeneration)

Effect: The user is capable of regenerating any part of their body that has been lost.

Drawback: Process can be extremely slow at first, leaving one vulnerable for attack. User needs some kind of surplus water source.

Description: The Hozuki are capable of regenerating any part of their body that they wish. By pumping their chakra and mixing it with either water from near by, or from the rest of their body, the lost body part is grown back in a certain amount of time.

C ranked: Rate of growth is 3 post for every foot. When assisted by bodies of water, 1 ½ post.

B ranked: Rate of growth is 1 post for every foot and a half. When assisted by bodies of water, ½ a post.

A ranked: Rate of growth is instantly.

Description: Picture The Boxer Throws the straight right punch and twists the body by that punch, stepping with the right foot forward. The Boxer must consider about the distance between him and the opponent. The target is the chin or the heart of the opponent. This trick is used for attack, defense, or escape. If used for attack use both left and right alternately. The Straight Punch is one of the heaviest punches in all of Muay Thai. It can be used in attack and defense. If used properly it can stop your opponent right in his tracks. However if used at the wrong moment it may put the boxer in a difficult situation because if the punch misses the target the boxer will have wasted a lot of energy and will be left exposed to a counter attack. The strength of this punch comes from moving the foot forward and from the transfer of force from the leg to the moving body and finally to the fist. To further enhance the power in his punch the boxer must twist his hips, waist, and shoulder while punching. The result is a very powerful blow that draws upon the boxer's weight, the muscles of the feet, legs, hips, waist, and shoulders, and the proper technique in releasing the punch for its forcefulness.

Variation: Full Body Straight Punch - This straight punch uses the force of gravity thrown in the perpendicular plane. The boxer throws himself forward and the momentum of his falling body is added to the punch making it very powerful. To practice this punch, start by standing at ease with guards up. Then move either foot forward and use the rear leg to push the body forward, similar to falling forward towards the target. The momentum from this movement transferred to the arm and fist, giving the punch its characteristic power. When connecting against the opponent's torso area will stun the opponent for 2 movements.

Variation: Over the Shoulder Straight Punch - This punch is released by a sudden jerking and twisting of the body. It derives its power solely from the muscles and is less powerful than the other versions of the straight punch. It is best used in close fights and emergencies. When the punch is thrown with the left hand, the right hand is automatically jerked backwards. As a result, the muscles of the shoulder, back, stomach, waist, and the two legs will work together transferring the weight from one side of the body to the other. This twist of the body prepares one for an over the shoulder punch with the right hand. This twist should be practiced so that one is comfortable throwing the over the shoulder punch using the twist of the body and the corresponding transfer of body weight as the source of the punch's power. This technique hits as a "B" Rank technique instead of the basic "C" Rank.

While the technique lacks the force to seriously endanger somebody, it can be used to weaken enemies while they are distracted. The needles deal 4 Armour Points of piercing damage per Class Level.

Looks good interesting use of your freebies. One thing to note is that at the moment you are essentially saying that you were raised in Rain's ninja village/land however you have a coastal trait. Rain is a landlocked region and thus lacks a coastal zone. Other than that minor change.

2. Each Hozuki can only start off with a small sized Water Bottle Holding belt and 2 small sized water bottles. If they wish for a larger sized belt and bottles, they must buy them.
