THE LAB

Established nearly half a century ago, the Human Experiment Laboratory has been a well-hidden facility within the depths of the waterfall village, responsible for the selective breeding and training of combatants for various different purposes. Such purposes are the developing of spies, assassins and scientists for the sake of furthering the laboratory's work as well as being a hand for hire.

The laboratory, despite its name, isn't solely just a laboratory. It's a very decently sized establishment providing basic housing for all specimen residing in it, as well as training grounds, libraries full of common texts and recreational areas. Of course, the biggest percentage of space is occupied by research-dedicated laboratories. There can be up to 500 freely roaming specimen at any given time as well as up to 250 more still in development inside the various test-tubes along the laboratory. The training ground can hold up to a ten individuals at any given time. None of these establishments provide any stronghold benefits and exist for the sake of existing.

Matsuri stepped towards the multi-faced. As she was before him, a voice echoed through her head. "Strike him if you can; be it that he senses your motives, you will get injured." The tutors instructions were as clear as day. The multi-faced was a descendant from the Kedoin bloodline, meaning that he could adapt any appearance he wanted, but more than that, he was a master of reading and analyzing people to the point where he'd know your motives before you yourself.

Matsuri couldn't help but momentarily dread the training to come. Her needle-like dagger was hidden within her kimono and she decided that striking with it was her best chance of being at all stealthy. She was yet to announce her intentions and from her information, the man knew not of the purpose of her being there. In the end, Matsuri decided it was her best bet to announce herself, greet the man and stab him in the stomache once his dominant hand is out of the way.

"I am Matsuri, master sent me to train with you," she proclaimed as she raised her right hand forwards. The man followed her example as their fingers interlocked. It was then when Matsuri would strike. Her needle-dagger had already ran through her kimono's left sleeve and was now just being held by the tip of her finger. Once their mutual grip was strong enough, Matsuri would attempt to dash her left hand forwards in an attempt to stab him, just to end up with a dagger in her own left shoulder.

"An assassin's footwork reveals their intentions, as does the position of the shoulders. Your greeting was lackluster as the explanation of its purpose was shady." Matsuri stepped back, removing the dagger still held by the man from her shoulder. Fortunately, the injury wasn't deep and looked as if the bleeding would stop soon. While she waited on that, she took mental notes, putting the man's words in high regard.

"I will now reset my knowledge," the man spoke, "approach me yet again." Suddenly, the man's eyes went full white and by the time they regained their color yet again, his expression appeared as if he had never laid eyes on Matsuri before. Matsuri decided to approach him again, using the same method as before while now abiding by the tips he gave her. She relaxed her shoulders which was easier to do with the tip of her needle-blade already on the tip of her finger, ready to strike. She stepped towards him and this time, positioned her feet to narrow her body, rather than having one be more forward than the other to provide a leverage point for striking.

"My name is Matsuri Oni. I have been sent here to train the arts of fire with you," while Matsuri definitely expected an improvement, the moment she reached her hand forwards for a handshake, a dagger slashed diagonally towards it, creating a shallow yet, painful and lenghty cut through half of its entire length. She had failed to fool the man again.

"I haven't an affiliation with the fire release nor are my eyes on my stomach. You are focusing too much onto the area you are to strike. Maintain eye-contact to truly conceal your intentions." The multi-faced's eyes went white yet again as Matsuri withdrew from her position to create distance between the two, this time, disappearing from the man's point of view entirely and instead, located herself ten meters to his diagonal back-left as if coming from one of the many entrances to the training grounds.

As the man regained his senses, what greeted him was the empty surrounding of the surrounding training grounds. He looked around and saw Matsuri drawing towards him. This time, she made sure to invest more in playing pretend and to appear as if out of breath. "Multi-faced one," she greeted with a panicked tone, "Scientist Jeoff is is looking for you and needs you immediately!" Once she knew she had his attention, she reduced her walking speed slightly, as if she was contented that she had finally caught up with him.

He turned his torso slightly to face her, but not enough to actually chagne the position of his feet as he still faced her with his back, for the most part. As she drew a meter to him, ready to strike, this time through the very fabric of her kimono, a fist connected with the base of her chin with maximal strength, effectively, knocking her unconscious.[/blockquote][/div]

The multi-faced stared at Matsuri as she woke-up from her temporary state of unceonsciousness. While the sight of his blank expression less than a few feet away from her was somewhat unnerving, what truly peeved Matsuri about the situation was the fact that she could feel a slimey substance across her hand as well as her shoulder. As she touched her shoulder to investigate, the multi-faced man spoke. "Do not remove it for the time being, it is an onintment for your injuries."

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, Matsuri decided to ask him as to what gave her away her previous attempt "Your breathing was fake; you spoke normally in an exhausted state. The tip of your blade was also pushing the side of your kimono." Matsuri took notes of that as well as she asked the man to reset yet again. This time, she would completely exit the training grounds.

While there weren't too many scientists working in the laboratory in general, their number certainly was high enough for one not to know of them all individually and personally. Matsuri knew that she didn't see the multi-faced man often - certainly not as often as she saw the dedicated scientist of her department, which brought her to the conclusion that the multi-faced man hadn't interacted much with them as well.

She returned in the area of the training grounds transformed exactly as that scientists, coming from the man's forth. "Multi-faced," Matsuri spoke, "I am here on behalf of Scientist Jeoff, he asked me to bring you to him." Matsuri knew that scientist Jeoff was her best link to the multi-faced as he was the dedicated scientist to his sector. As the now transformed Matsuri came within range, however, she'd be greeted by a kick to the gut, forcing her onto the floor, out of breath and most importantly, out of her transformation.[/blockquote][/div]

"Your transformation is lacking; your attempt to change your voice is repulsing. You should have gone for something you'd mimic more comfortably." After Matsuri finally managed to regain her breath, she noticed that the multi-faced man was with his eyes closed - something that immediately incentivized her to change her location and approach tactic.

This time, she decided to transform as a female scientist - one of a neighboring wing she had some knowledge of. Matsuri walked towards the center of the room. "Mr. Multi-Faced," Matsuri started, not doing much to alter her voice but increase it by a pinch or a half, "I have been instructed to bring you to Scientist Jeoff immediately on an urgent regard."

Matsuri came to the conclusion that distracting the multi-faced from her appearance was her best course of action. For so, she added the distraction of high-heels to make a sound with each step she made. That would, hopefully, distract the man enough to have him not pay too much focused attention onto her. However, to her dismay, her attempt was brought to a finish as she was struck once more, this time in the back, and pushed onto the ground where the simple transformation broke and left her to drag herself up.[/blockquote][/div]
