He didn't seem to get any answer from the others in the group, but he really wasn't sure as the bats flying around his head was making a lot of noise. The animals hadn't seemed to be even a little frightened from what had happened to their friends just moments earlier. It annoyed the Hoshigaki and he felt like the animals were just a distraction for him to not be looking for the necromancer. But as he had no idea on how he would even be able to find him, Emi imagined that he'd just wait until his friend aided him in that regard while fighting what he could. So he estimated the pattern the bats moved around and attacked in, while aiming his blows towards any that got too close.
For some reason the more time that passed, the more bats flew around him. Even though he knew that they were quickly duplicating, he was never able to see any of them appear out of nowhere or split up. But as the swarm was completely compact, Emi was suddenly bulrushed by the swarm again. When he was hit by it, he suddenly realized what was going on with it, the hit didn't feel like it had the impact area that made sense. So after he had been hit by what appeared to be a few dozen blows, Emi launched himself at the direction from where the attacks seemed to come from. The bats were not close to that area, but as Emi suspected that the necromancer was actually hiding behind them, he went not by the visuals but the direction of his attacks.
I think he's hiding among the bats!
Sadly his blow was not able to hit anything as the area was completely empty despite that a couple of bats had been very close right before. So Emi realized that just random hits wasn't much of a point, but as he couldn't know where the opponent was, he figured that he'd have to make the affected area larger. At first he thought that he would be better to just grow a few sizes to have a greater impace on the area, but as he thought about how people would counter it he understood that it wouldn't help. The opponent would just move further away or stay hidden until a lethal attack could be made. So his best way was to have the force of his blows affect areas in which they had not been yet.
