There are 5 Different types of missions available in Amegakure No Sato. You are welcome to choose which ones you would like, or would not like to do. Genin are only able to take on D and C ranked missions (can take on higher level tasks, but must be accompanied by a shinobi of a higher rank). Missions B rank or above, are much more dangerous (most, not all), and require at least the rank of Chunin to take.
Plot Missions: These are the missions that will advance the plot of the entire village once completed. Details on the current happenings can be found on the "Amegakure No Sato" information page.
Repeatable Missions: Just as the name implies - these will be missions that can be taken over and over again, regardless of what. Training missions, searching missions, menial tasks, ect. all fall into this category.
Story Missions: A grouping of 3 to 5 missions that all connect together to create a story. These start out easy and simple (D and C), but increase in difficulty as you progress through them.
One Time Only Missions: As the name implies, can only be taken and completed one time. These types usually center around finding the location of other Hidden Villages and things of that nature.
Contentious Missions - "Special missions created by 2 Kages designed for Ninjas only. Contentious Missions are “B” Rank missions designed to pit 2 Ninja teams against each other. In the Manga/Anime Naruto, Team 7 was tasked to escort and keep safe an Architect while the Hidden Village sent a team to kill this Architect. Contentious Missions work in within the same spectrum. Team “A” must deliver a message, while Team “B” my intercept the message from being delivered. Team “A” must escort a person safely, while Team “B” must kill the person before they reach their designated place. Contentious Missions are designed to pit player vs. player."
