((I haven't trained in a while so I've gotten rusty @_@ Bare with me lol))
Sayu had finally made it to her destination, the Land of Sound. Somewhere distant from her father’s home. “I wasn’t able to impress you, daddy. I’m sorry. But this no longer is about you…” She took a deep breath, inhaling the warm air surrounding her as she walked through the damp forest, looking for a place to train. She wanted to find some sort of body of water near by, because she knew she would be doing some intense training for the next few days. Last thing she wanted to do was set camp somewhere far from a water source. Finally, she came across a small pond. It was perfect, and Sayu quickly removed her back pack, letting it slam onto the ground. She wasn’t concerned in setting up camp yet. All she wanted to do was train…
Sayu stretched her arms and legs, making them more flexible for her training. She already knew what she was going to train for ever since she left the island. Something her brother accomplished way before her. Shamefully, she sighed. Being reminded of her younger brother embarrassed her. However, she shook her head, and made a confident grin. “Alright, then!” she said, ready to begin hardening her skin.
Sayu held up her arm and examined her moist blue skin. “Hm, how can I go about hardening my skin?” She stared at her arm for several minutes, in a daze. Her skin was shiny and watery, something she wanted the complete opposite of. Sayu began absorbing some of the warm air through her arm. It made her feel awkward because she was used to absorbing water, not air. Slowly, it began drying her skin, making it loose its moistness. Sayu became slightly terrified. “Holy s**t!” she yelled, halting the absorption of air. Her skin went back to normal.
The feeling of dry skin bothered Sayu. “Ew…how do these humans do it? How can they stand so much dryness?” she said, rubbing her arm. Suddently, she was reminded of her father. If he was there with her at that moment, her would call her a coward. Sayu wanted to prove him wrong, even though he was miles away from her. “No, daddy! I’m no coward…” Sayu said, extending her arm. She began opening the pores to her skin, absorbing air. Again, it began drying her skin, to the point where it had a thin layer of hardness over it.
“That’s it…? That wasn’t so bad!” said Sayu, getting her hopes up. She waved her arm in the air, and made a fist. Suddenly, her skin slowly started oozing. Water from within her was escaping the thin hardened layer over her arm. “No…” she pouted. She allowed her skin to return to its original state. “I don’t understand…how thick is human skin anyway?” Sayu soon decided to take a quick trip to town and experiment…
Leaving all her belongings in the forest, Sayu scanned the market for her first victim. She wanted to feel how thick human skin really was. Slowly, she crept along the crowd of people, spotting a small innocent child, eating ice cream. She reached over to him and gave him a pinch to his arm. The child yelled in pain, causing him to drop his ice cream. He turned around to see who it was that pinched him. Sayu quickly shifted away from him, and looked the opposite way. The child continued looking at her; he was sure that it was her who did it.
Sayu grinned. “What are you looking at? It’s awfully rude to stare.” Still the young boy couldn’t keep his eyes off her. Her skin was out of the ordinary, which was the same thing Sayu thought about him. Both examined each other for several minutes, without moving. Sayu then slowly raised both of her hands and moved them towards the boy’s pink cheeks. She grabbed a hold and stretched them, pressed them, anything that would make her understand the thickness of human skin. The boy was hopeless. He stood there, letting her fuss with his cheeks. Sayu finally got an idea how thick she should make her skin. She removed her hand from his cheeks and patted him in the head. She ran back to the forest to her camp.
Sayu immediately began absorbing air once more. She also decided to mix in chakra to help her thicken the layer of skin. Slowly, the wetness dried away. So far, her arm was completely dried, but not thick enough. She sat down, and concentrated more on absorbing air. Sayu closed her eyes, trying to ignore the uncomtorable feeling of dry skin. Finally, she managed to create another layer over her arm. She opened her eyes and pinched her arm. It was thick, but not as thick as the boy’s skin.
“More chakra…” said Sayu, making her arm glow bright blue. A small breeze began forming. This was created by Sayu’s arm. It was absorbing more air now, more than before. Soon, her arm had grown another layer. Sayu pinched herself once more. “Ow!” she yelled, closing one eye. It then hit her. She felt some sort of physical pain. This was somewhat rare to the Ekitai, because in their D ranked transitional membrane, they felt no pain. However, this also meant Sayu had succeeded in creating the same thickness of human skin. No only that, her skin was slowly loosing its blue tint, becoming somewhat close to a human’s natural skin color.
“Bleh!” said Sayu, refusing to accept the blandness of human skin color. But she knew she had to get over it. Human skin thickness would allow her to survive in harsh weather conditions. This was indeed necessary…Sayu choose to continue her training. She would now try to harden her entire body…

Atsui Usumaku (Transitional Membrane)
Rank: D, C, B, A
Skill: Ninjutsu, Supplementary
Effect: The user is capable of controling the thickness of thier "trasitional membrane". This technique is manditory for all under the Ekitai bloodlimit. This is because it grants them their survival in battles and harsh weather conditions.
Special: ---
Drawback: Switching from ranks that are not next to each other takes 1 post (You cannot instantly switch from D rank thickness to B rank.)
Description: Every Ekitai member begins with the D ranked version of this technique and work their way up. During training, they are required to learn how their transitional membrane is capable of absorbing the air around them in order to "harden". Chakra takes a large role in hardening their transitional membrane because it mixes with the air to help with the process. In order to switch from a higher rank of thickness to a lower, the user must pump the water from inside of their bodies and surface it to their skin. Also, the user leaves their palms permeable (D ranked), thus allowing the usage of the water inside of them no matter what rank their in.
o C ranked: Exact manipulation of human skin. Can withstand any kind of weather conditions a human could. Since skin is more solidified, landing taijutsu based attacks are more affective. Physical attacks now cause pain.
