Effect: The signature move of the Nara family, this jutsu allows the user to control their own shadow and merge it with their opponent's shadow, combining them. This links the movements of the user with the target; the target is subsequently forced to make any movement the user makes. It is an extremely versatile technique, as the user can contract and change the shape of their shadow, potentially grabbing multiple targets at once. The degree to which the user's shadow can be stretched is limited by its total surface area.
Special: "Hanseals"
Drawback: Must Be Learned Multiple times in order to truly achieve something grand. Must hold Rat hand seal until the technique connects with the targets shadow.
Description: Using the shadows of other objects, the user can extend their shadow beyond its normal range. The amount of time for which an opponent can be held is limited by the user's chakra, since the user must constantly maintain the jutsu. The jutsu is also more difficult to maintain at greater ranges or for multiple opponents, since the user's shadow must be stretched constantly. At closer ranges, it requires considerably less effort on the user's part. Additionally, the target can force their way free with enough effort, though the amount of effort required to do so is considerable. There are two tables or understandings for this technique that consists of the Difficulty class of the User as well as the Opponent, and as to how far the user is capable of using this technique. When first learned the user is only capable of using this technique at a distance of Ten meters. Each higher Rank archived, the user is capable of extending the shadow another five meters. The user must first however, learn each rank a certain amount of times before then next rank is obtainable. The C rank version must be learned five times total. At which point the distance is upgraded to "B" Rank training and now extends ten meters each time trained. This version must be learned 3 times total. The "A" Rank version, extends the range to Seventy meters, and every additional "A" Rank training extends it another ten meters. This technique caps out at 100 meters. The user is capable of making their shadow split and by doing so takes up the distance of the total form of the original technique. This means that if a user has this technique to where they can use thirty meters and wishes to make this technique split to three shadows the maximum distance is ten meters per shadow.

Difficulty on Escaping: Escaping the Kagemane is a tricky art for some, easier for others. Depending on your Stamina and Difficulty class depends on how well the opponent can escape the Kagemane. The Kagemane is held for a Certain time frame depending on Rank of the technique learned. "C" Rank can be held for 18 seconds before it breaks no matter what. "B" Rank 36 seconds, "A" Rank 54 Seconds. For every difficulty class the user is above the opponent, add another five seconds. If the opponent for every difficulty class above th user, subtract five seconds. If the Opponent captured is a Taimaster, subtract 15 seconds additionally. If the opponent is a Tai specialist, subtract 5 additional seconds. If the opponent is a Taijutsu No specialist, leave it as is. After doing the math, the amount of turns held will be apparent.

Once more, Akio Nara sits quietly in his little white dojo. Eyes closed, mind in seeming zen, as he tries to relax and gain some inner control of his chakra. Akio was actually making some head-way till.....

SLAM!!

the door was thrown wide open as an angry Ami stormed inot the room, her black hair seemingly ablaze as she walked over the the sitting Akio, who merely glanced up at her and nodded. Ami walked over to him, and lightly kissed Akio on the forehead as she said:

"I am going out, K?"

Akio again looked up and nodded to her, half lazy half wanting to actually train. As Ami walked away smiling, as she finally reached the door, she stuck her head out once more, and said lightly:

"Oh yeah, and I borrowed some of your cash. Hope you don't mind"

and, with that, Ami slammed the door once more and departed, before Akio could yell at her. But, Akio was too tired at the moment, and did not feel like yelling. Such small worldly items as money could be forgiven, but Ami owed him one. Akio would get back to that later, however. He instead concentrated on a new task, sitting twenty meters away from the nearest wall. It was Kagemane time.

Akio decided to first test out what he could preform easily. Akio brought his hands together into the Rat hand seal. Akio spoke:

"Kagemane no Jutsu!"

Akio's shadow trembled like an old man for a second, then it began to lengthen, as it reached for the wall. The genin watched his shadows progress, until it jerked to a stop at the fifteen meter mark. Akio smiled lightly as his shadow had stopped, almost as if hit a brick wall. Akio then released the rat hand seal, and his shadow receded. Akio sighed lightly, running a slightly tanned hand through his blond hair, and then examined his last attempt.

Akio's last attempt was the jutsu itself, no extra chakra or effort. It had grown to a maximum of fifteen meters, not too much, but decent. Akio knew that by putting more effort and chakra into the jutsu. Any Nara could learn the basic jutsu, but only a clan master can truly master the Kagemane, the trademark jutsu of the Nara clan. Akio wanted to be the leader of the Nara, in the Rain and all over. But, dreams could be put off to later. This jutsu could not be. So, with the jutsu properly reexamined, Akio prepared for attempt number two.

Akio sighed once more, as a wave of laziness lay siege upon his determination. Akio's Nara nature was a gift and a curse... for his intelligence and techniques canceled out his laziness and overall indifference. But, again, he was not the average Nara. The life he lived in this village had changed Akio, all this war and kill allowed him to kill his laziness and indifference. Akio now had a drive, a four wheel drive which would not be blocked. He would not be denied.

So, Akio now prepared himself for attempt number two. Akio cracked his knuckles, and stretched his shoulder.

"Ninja's don't kill people, cramps do"

thought Akio to himself with a light smile, allowing himself some enjoyment from his own joke. Still smiling, Akio's hands flashed the Rat hand seal, the one which was most commonly worn on his hands like the smile on Akio's face. His shadow trembled, as if waiting to be commanded. Akio almost nodded to himself. It was time to put his money where his mouth was. The genin directed the flow of chakra into his hands, and into his shadow. Beats of sweat began to fall from his head, but their was no going back now. Akio chanted:

"Kagemane No Jutsu"

lightly and confidently, as if he was saying the name of a good friend. Akio's shadow reacted almost upon word, charging forward with new found energy. Akio's chakra flowed into his shadow, which extended past it's usual limit of fifteen mater, and kept going. Akio admired the shadow for a second, admiring it as it is untouchable, and so powerful, like the dragon which fused like his ancestor so long ago. Akio watched as his shadow finally slowed down, and came to a stop about one and a half meters from the wall. A good improvement in Akio's eyes. He now had to hold the shadow for a minimum of twenty seconds. Akio held the rat hand seal even tighter, and began t count off the passing seconds in his head:

"....... Five..... Ten...... Fifteen...... Twenty.... Twenty Five..... Thirty.."

And, with that, Akio released the shadow, which withdrew quickly like a hurricane wave powering up for another knock on the shore.
Once again, Thirty seconds was a decent job holding a shadow in place, but Akio, as a clan master, felt he needed to do much better then that. And so, he would figure out how in his examination of the last attempt. To not make the same mistake twice, one must look over his past ones.

Akio now smiled to himself as he looked over the last attempt. His mistakes where minor and few, but they should not be any. #1 The charka that he was sending to his shadow diminished as time went on, so that can be attributed to the jutsu's stop. Akio also noticed that #2 his effort was not constant. The only way to make a jutsu stronger was to put more effort into it, that means desire and power. And, finally, #3 Akio's shoe lace was untied. But, the ironic thing was that Akio was wearing sandals. ....... Anyway, Akio had to keep his desire at a constant high during attempt number Three.

Akio now decided on a new, more energetic course. He had the power, stamina, guts and everything else needed. It was time to reach the wall. A rededicated effort combined with a strong enough push would get him right where he needed to be: In the drivers seat. Akio's thoughts wandered once more to a better world, a world without the needed fierce combat and death unlimited. But, Akio shook these thoughts away. At the moment, his training was the most important thing to him. And so, He went to work.

Akio now sat himself twenty meters from the edge of the wall, looking to have his Kagemane reach it and hold its position there for thirty seconds. A simtple exercise in a common pattern, but needless to say it was effective. Trial and error always made things clear in the end, so he would keep on going. And, as always, the trial number three was the most crucial. The genin took a deep breath and began to form the jutsu.

Slowly, but surely, Akio's and came together and formed the all too common rat hand, and Akio stared at the seal for a second as if mesmerized. Akio's chakra suddenly flared, as he directed it once more towards the hand seal and the shadows in steady waves. trying to maximize the use of his chakra while minimizing the waste, and Akio desired to finalyl reach the wall. So, Akio gathered himself up, and the genin spoke:

"Kagemane no Jutsu!"

like a command, and his shadow hopped to the job. It began to stretch itself forward, like an elastic band, and attempted to reach the wall. The shadow kept going.... ten meters..... fifteen meters..... until it's tip finally reached the tip of the wall, exactly at twenty meters away. Akio smiled his light smile, enjoying his temporary vicotry as he held the rat hand seal, and counted off the seconds his shadow would hold:

"Five..... Ten.... Fifteen...... Twenty...... Twenty Five..... Thrity"

Akio's jutsu was then released, as his shadow shrank back to it's original shape and form. Akio mind now went into motion. It was of course a success, but there where ways of improving even more. There was a huge difference between preforming the jutsu under no pressure in a friendly environment on a wall, and one of preforming it in a key situation in battle, And, of course, at target which has the power to talk and move. But, Akio was not currently worried about a moving target. That would come later. First, he had to take a break and clear his mind. Mass amount of training where never good for somebody. So, as Akio suddenly plopped over and lay quietly on the ground, a hush sleep took him under it's wings, and Akio's mind went into another world....

A dark shadow seemed to seep around Akio as he absorbed his new surroundings. Akio seemed to be covered by shadows, which seemed to surround him, and bind him, and drawn his attention to the one spot of light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in this eternal darkness. Akio's eyes where glue onto the light, which suddenly became as clear as a mirror, allowing Akio to see it's contents, which filled him with sorrow and longing. Akio's mother, dark haired and white skinned, was looking at him through the glass in the arms of a blond haired, tanned man, Akio's father. They both seemed to be staring at, smiling at the same till while radiating a great sadness. Akio reached out to touch them, but the shadows held him back. Akio struggled in the shadows grip, which was looking to hold him back. However he flailed his arms of legs, he could not move. Finally, seemingly irratate, the shadow brought it substance into a fist like shape, and punched through the mirror, shattering it into a million pieces as Akio watched with an open mouth. All Akio could do was......

and, with a quick jerk, Akio snapped up from his so called "rest", sweater and more tired then he was before he fell asleep. Akio calmly brought himself into a sitting position, and put on a brave face.... literally. He would not let any type of shadow or fear rule his life. That was his way of the ninja. No one would stand in the way of his ultimate goal. But, that would be saved for later. Akio rubbed his head lightly as he walked out of the dojo and looked at the nearest clock, moaning:

"Seven already? Ami should be home...... I should cook up a suprise for her."

Akio smiled maliciously, and positioned himself twenty meters to the right side of the door mat. This would be the ultimate test... a moving, surprised target and a small opportunity to accomplish the jutsu. But, Akio would take his chance. His hands where locked in the rat hand seal, and his chakra flow was steady. Akio sat down, for the wait might still take a bit, despite the growing darkness outsdie. But, soon a key could be heard in the lock on the door, and Akio knew that she was coming. Akio thought to himself:

"Show Time"

as he quietly whispered:

"Kagemane no Jutsu"

allowing the pent up chakra to flow into the jutsu, and his shadow reached forward, as a shoe soon appeared on the door mat, and Ami stepped into the apartment. Their shadows mingled, and became one, and Akio released the Rat hand seal. Standing up, and walking slightly to his right. Ami soon appeared, moving to her left and holding many a shopping bag. Akio decided to have soon fun, walking up to her, and flicking Ami in the forehead. Ami mimicked the motion, Akio simply smiled, and looked inside the shopping bags, seeing an assortment of cloths and such, and sighed. Akio quietly said:

"Next time, ask me when you wanna borrow some money."

And Akio released the jutsu, and walked back into the small dojo room, closing the door in Ami's slightly angry face. Akio had managed to preform the jutsu correctly, but their was a twist with kagemane which Akio had to learn sooner rather then later, it was multiple shadow control.

Akio sat down, and being to rethink the concept of Kagemane. The rain genin had a good memory, and he remembered the clan scroll which he read, which contained the basics of Kagemane. This scroll mentioned multiple shadow control. This technique refers to the splitting of ones shadow to control multiple people. Not only was this complicated, the resistance is doubled by the number of people plus the chance of success is severely limited. Also, each additional shadow has a 1/number of shadow splits ratio. This was also limiting. Any type of limit was not good, at least in Akio's opinion. With a quick sigh, Akio rested his face in his hands an allowed himself some closer. Sometimes, closer was even more important then brakes.

Akio did not feel the closure he wanted, however, so once more there was a need to exhaust some energy. The Nara quietly closed his eyes and tried to feel the pitter patter of the rain outside through his ears. The sounds brought a certain calm to him, and made drawing out chakra a rather easy task. His hands came together in the rat hand seal, and his chakra seeped into his seal, empowering it and bringing trembles into the young mans shadow. Akio spoke quietly:

"Kagemane No Jutsu"

and, once more, his shadow began to stretch like an elastic band and reach for the nearest wall, as Akio willed his shadow to move farther and farther and finally touched the wall, which stood 20 ft. away. Akio smield lightly and brought his shadow back to it's original shape and form. That should do it thought Akio to himself as he closed his eyes lightly and fell off into sleep, exhausted.
