Rage walked in through the village gates and stood for a moment, gazing around. His mouth hung open slightly, as he absorbed the sights, smells, and sounds of a capital city. He had walked right into a market square, with wooden stalls stretched out in front of houses. All the stall keepers were declaring their wares, and together they made quite a loud sound, mostly incomprehensible. Some had weapons; swords and knives. Others had books and other miscellaneous items. However most of them had food, everything from fruit, to fish and things like boiled octopus, to strange herbs and spices to add to the main meals. There were many people in the square, people flitting from stall to stall, people standing around and talking despite the heat of the day, he even saw one pickpocket help himself. He was going to confront the man, but he vanished into the crowd, and Rage shrugged. That wasn't his mission anyhow. Instead, he looked to a stall with the boiled octopus and inhaled the smells wafting from it. His mouth watered and he wanted to buy something, but he had gone and donated all his money to the Vault. That hadn't been good timing. Laughing, he shrugged and decided it was time to get on with his mission.
He walked over to the space between two nearby house, and entered the alley. The day was hot and humid, and he felt it especially in that closed in little area. He quickly checked around himself to see that that no one was watching, then scaled the wall, quick as a squirrel. There was no need to let people know he was there; they might start asking questions, and if he let his mission slip the gangs would either hide away or try to ambush him or something. He hummed an active tune to himself and started jogging quietly along the rooftops, farther into the city, keeping low and out of sight of the people below in the streets. He heard what sounded like a scuffle up ahead of him, and hoped that would be a gang so he could use aggressive negotiations to persuade them that a gang wasn't in their best interests. He was in luck; there was a group of three kids, all rather tall and skinny, beating up a younger kid. The three looked to be around 12, the kid to be around 8. One of them said "You should have just given us the wallet, kid!" Rage saw this prize being held up by another of the bullies. All three of them had white shirts on with the symbol for "Snake" on the back. Rage approached them from the rooftops, until he was almost directly above them.
He leaped down, his feet landing squarely on the shoulders of the boy who had been holding up the wallet. This boy went down with a cry, and the other two had time to spin around and catch the young genin's oncoming fists with their faces. One spun around the other way and collapsed in a heap, but the other was made of sterner stuff. He was forced a few steps back, and tried to gather himself. Rage let him; He dropped into his Issukuntou stance and prepared the Crashing Wave, his feet resting at the point right before it would snap out. The last boy charged, his arms raised with one blocking his face and the other going for a punch. Rage's kick thudded into his abdomen, and he flew straight backwards and then onto his back. Rage heard the first boy, the one he had landed one, struggle to his feet. The young genin didn't even turn; he just crooked his elbow and smashed it backward where he figured the guys face would be. The sound of bone snapping indicated he'd broken the kid's nose, and the boy fell, blood streaming down his face.
Figuring they were finished, he picked up the fallen wallet, helped the child who had been getting beat to his feet, and gave him back his wallet. "Th... thank you!" the kid stammered out. Rage gave him a smile and a shooing motion, and watched as the kid walked away, holding his side. Rage looked back at the bullies on the ground. They were moaning, so they were in pain but conscious. "Now you guys aren't gonna do anymore bullying, are you?" he said to them. The one he had punched who fell managed to spit out "No sir..." The shinobi nodded and said "Good. 'Cause if you do, I'll be back... and you won't enjoy that one either." Suddenly he spotted a pouch the one of the boys had dropped. He picked it up and checked inside. Money, probably pilfered from other kids. "I'll be taking this as compensation," he said. He figured he'd give it back to the city by spending it at the market square. He made his way back, this time going through the alleys. Although it had been a small gang, it was a first step, and the first step was always the hardest...
