Kaitou Oni stood still in the silent serenity of the Waterfall Village’s Morning. He had just got up from a long night of sleep, his celebration from graduating the academy, next to a Gourd to contain Iron Sand so he could finally get some practice in with his bloodline. He was in front of the beautiful waterfall of the village’s namesake, a makeshift training area had been built there by his step father in hopes that Kaitou would learn a vital move in the Masamune bloodline, how to sharpen the power. If he couldn’t learn this method, he would not be able to do much harm to enemies with weapons he created.
He places his rather large gourd next to a tree; the tree would be his target for this training exercise.
“I need to get this down… to make dad happy… I wasted away two years of his Ryo to attend the academy, it’s time to show him my progress…”
The hopeful Masamune used the techniques he already knew, not too well but had a basic grip of it, to gather a small cloud of Iron Sand. The cloud held about ten pounds of the sand; a small amount to learn with was always good.
“Ok… now extend my polarity field a little more…”
His field extended to the range compared to his distance from the tree, he was taught by his Masamune mother to never use his maximum range, as it extended too much chakra, too quickly. The cloud began to morph into a small cloud of Iron Sand senbon, a trademark of his clan. He aimed carefully, closing one eye to gain a better visual, and directed the needles to fly at the tree.
“Damn it…”
The senbon had not stuck; they were much too dull on the ends to stick into the hard surface of the tree.
“Now Kaitou… remember… when you’re using the Iron Sand, place a tiny bit of extra chakra on each creation, it makes manipulating it much easier…”
The young child focused a tiny ounce of chakra onto the tip of one of the needle, he drew the cloud of power away from the single needle, and he knew he’d have to start at square one to master this technique.
“Ok… send a small echo of wave in the polarity field to touch the creation…”
A barely noticeable ripple occurred in the seven meters his field covered, touching the needle over so slightly to not extend any extra chakra, a small static emitted from the needle.
“That must be it… I hope so…”
Kaitou, instead of using the magnetic field to try to sharpen the needle, used the chakra he placed onto the needle to change it. His father was right, it didn’t take nearly as much thought as last time to change it, and the needle just seemed to sharpen itself.
“Alright! Let’s go!”
The needle responded to Kaitou’s hand seal of the Dog, which he stupidly forgot to add to the process in his excitement. The needle shot forward, a small aura of chakra on the tip, similar to a miniature meteor.
Fwip!
The sound was as exciting to Kaitou as the time he threw his first kunai and it pierced through the bull’s-eye, he had learned his first technique outside of the basics! He repeatedly jumped up and down in excitement, as he gathered the iron sand from the training back to his gourd, picked up the massive jar without any trouble, and ran down the rill to home.
