Personality:
Free-minded: Tenma hates to be bogged down by the ideas and opinions of other people. He thinks whatever he wants to think. He is always willing to look at things from a new angle, something that most Hyuuga are not willing to be, though whether he accepts a new view as his own is a different story. He does not mind if other people do not take his opinion into consideration, as long as they do it with respect and they do not try to impose their own opinions unto him. It will backfire as Tenma will simply ignore them. If his ideas go ignored themselves, he would just cease to care about the matter. There are more important things to be doing than arguing to Tenma.
Considerate: Tenma does have compassion within him. He naturally helps people out if they are having trouble with something. He goes out of his way, and this sometimes makes him late for appointments, though he is trying to fix that habit of his. He does try his best at times to encourage someone who is feeling depressed, knowing how to speak with a soft voice and a gentle tone. Sometimes he does considerate actions without having anybody know it was him, preferring it to be that way. He does not expect gratitude in return, but he does small acts of kindness anyway.
Honest: Tenma earned a reputation for himself by never having broken a promise. He has lied at times, though these were only at times when he was joking around and no harm was done. But aside for situations such as those, Tenma will make sure to keep his word. Since he is like this, he does not like other people who break their promises. If one of them is his friend, then he mildly rebukes them for it and tells them to not do such a thing again. This applies to promises only, since he does not mind if someone broke a rule or a law, if they have a good enough reason.
Icy: This was what Tenma always used to be like. And old habits die hard. He sometimes acts distant and even condescending at times. This is usually what he is like when he has been thinking about something serious or someone recently angered him, which rarely happens. He does not insult people, but leaves perhaps a cold comment about them. Usually, he is just very silent and his glares tell what he is feeling at the moment. If someone who he hardly knows irritates him even more while he is like this, he tends to suddenly snap at them. But most of the time, he wearily states that he wishes to be left alone at the moment.
Level Headed: Tenma takes quite a bit to be angered. He is quite capable of keeping his cool and not losing himself to his emotions, allowing him to analyze a situation from an impartial point of view. He is very good at suppressing his anger or his sorrow, making it seem as nothing is wrong with him, until the time is right to release it. He never tries to deny himself that something has happened and often uses it to fuel his determination. This calmness in him is what enables him to find hope within despair and victory within defeat. He knows when he can relax his guard and when he cannot.
Appearance:
The first thing that someone notices is his long, smooth, black hair that flows down from the top of his head. The lengths of some of the strands are uneven, so they go up to different lengths, ranging from just below his shoulder to a few inches from his elbows. Sometimes he lets strands of his hair fall over his face, though most of the time; he keeps it to the side. He keeps his hair tied up with a crimson hair tie in a pony tail most of the time. He has a fair face, with thin eyebrows, slightly thinner nose than the average person. His forehead seems a bit bigger than normal, but his hair mostly covers that part up. His eyes are white, as befits a Hyuuga and he keeps them relaxed most of the time. His skin is a bit paler than the average person.
The clothes that he wears are all very lightly colored. He is usually seen wearing a beige/white scarf around the base of his neck. And since his favorite colors are light blue, that’s the main color of his shirt. He wears a dark blue long sleeved shirt and has a light blue colored vest over it. He usually covers his arms with light brown armguards and his hands with light black/gray fingerless gloves. He wears a white belt at his waist. For his legs, he wears dark blue colored pants that end by being covered with two black boots.
Bloodlimit: Hyuuga - Byakugan (Main House)
History:
Tenma was born to two Main House Hyuuga parents, and he was an only child, just as his parents had been before him, leaving him with very few people his age to interact with. As he grew, his consciousness began to adapt to the world that he was living in. His parents were over-protective, and wanted him to live his life within the Hyuuga Mansion until they thought that he was ready to experience the real world. Unfortunately, his parents were quite bad at doing this and while they tried to do their best for him, his childhood remained a lonely one. To him, all the other Hyuuga members that were visiting seemed quite austere and distant. Even as a small child who did not even know how to talk yet, this rubbed off of him. His natural expressions of feelings, something every child should have, began to be lost within this frozen house. He saw how his parents acted, with great formality, and how they reacted when he did something childish, such as suddenly bursting out in laughter, but was responded with sometimes a faint smile, or at other times, a reproving look.
As Tenma began to communicate, he was immediately bombarded with words that were pounded into his subconscious by everyday repetition. As a child, there was nothing that could oppose the beliefs that his parents were drilling into him. His young soul was pure and open. The words that came out of his mouth were at first innocent and carefree, but then started to be formal and restricted as he began to sound like his parents. Then he started to learn how to read. And he was taught that people were either mostly foolish or high-minded and noble. He was at first proud every time his parents told him that he belonged to the latter. But then, as his reading rapidly expanded, he found out more and more about the outside world. He soon exhausted his supply of recommended writings. He started to become curious about the writing that had not been recommended. And so he devised a plan. He knew that when his parents were out doing what they should be doing, an old servant took care of their residence. He decided to take a peek at the writings hidden away in his parents’ room during one of these times.
It was the first daring moment of the young Hyuuga’s life. Never before had he done anything against the wishes of his parents. Not that they forbade him to read it, it had just been implied. Tenma was still young. His parents thought that he might be corrupted by some of the ideas in the more passionate writings about the world. And ‘corrupted’ he indeed became. He learned that the world was much more than just his front yard. He learned how about how even people with lowly origins could rise and become great legends. Slowly, as he began to read more and more of these writings every time his parents went out, his world gradually changed from black and white to something more intense, with vibrant colors flowing out. However that was only within his mind and its immense imagination. Soon enough, he exhausted those readings and was hungering for more. But there was none and he had to go back to studying the same old texts that talked about how someone like him should be. He began to be taught in the ways of chakra, along with training involving his physical skills.
Soon enough, by accident actually, he demonstrated the use of the Byakugan. It was quite a young age, around the age of seven when he displayed it. This allowed him the opportunity of getting a chance to see the outside world. The elders within the clan wanted to see him. Thus, he actually went past his front gate, something he had never done before. Now he saw other Hyuuga, as well as other people, of all ages and clans, interacting with each other. But he could hear his parents’ whispering in his ear, reminding him about the branch clan and the superiority of the Hyuuga clan in the shinobi world. Tenma did not know whether he should turn away or not. So he was brought before the rest of the clan and it was decided that he would be trained in the arts of the Hyuuga. Tenma, unable to even muster the courage to say that what he wanted was to explore and travel, could only freeze his heart and nod his head. And so, his instructor and his parents brought him back home.
If Tenma thought that what he had been facing so far could be called pressure, the real deal began now. His personal instructor was unrelenting. He was forced to memorize facts and body movements. To Tenma, it was like he was being conditioned to be like a machine. Eventually he actually rebelled against his instructor, pulling a prank on him by making a trap which led the instructor to fall into the small pond in the front yard. After some heated arguments, the instructor, who regarded himself as the best one for the young Hyuugas, left with in a burst of anger. His parents rebuked him and after a week of what seemed like freedom to Tenma, another instructor came to him. Tenma acted quite cold and distant to him as well and even went so far as to pull another prank right off the bat. However, the instructor merely waved it off with a hearty chuckle. His eyes twinkled as he looked at the surprised Tenma. He told Tenma to sit down and have a talk.
Tenma was a bit stunned at this and so he sat down. Then, they began to talk, mostly with the instructor, who introduced himself as Fuji, asked some questions about Tenma. There was not much for Tenma to say, so he moved onto talking about the world. Tenma merely listened for the good part of an hour, before he suddenly blurted out a thought he had about the last comment Fuji had just made. Fuji was surprised, but kept the discussion going, making Tenma express thoughts that he never knew were inside him. Slowly, the emotions and thoughts that he had been forbidden to express poured out of a crack that grew larger and larger. He accepted Fuji as a mentor and so they started training. Fuji emphasized putting one’s heart into their motions, making every stroke a reflection of one’s heart. Tenma only went through the motions. Tenma found that, as he applied Fuji’s teachings, his movements become more fluid, like a harmonic melody. Tenma was also taught in the arts of calligraphy and music under Fuji’s instruction, and was taught to let inspiration and intuitive ideas motivate him. The views that Fuji expressed were known to the Hyuuga clan, so his parents knew that Tenma would not turn out the way that they hoped he would be. So they decided to change the cold atmosphere within the house into something warmer. And so, Tenma happily started going to the Academy.
Once in the Academy, he was, thanks to Fuji, able to fit in at least. He rarely showed the icy side of him with his classmates. He quickly excelled in everything and was admired for it. No ill feelings grew, since everyone knew he was someone was always willing to offer an ear and go out of his way to help people out. One person thought that he was someone that he could step over on. A few moments of Tenma’s dark side and that guy learned his lesson. Fuji came less, but still regularly, to visit him and the two of them could spend quite some time talking. He even taught Tenma how to play various instruments and even gave him a old piano. Tenma started to connect with his family at a deeper level than before. Soon enough, the years passed by and Tenma graduated. Now it was time for him to walk on his shinobi path.
A Start Cut Short
Getting himself into a 3-man cell, Team Satsujin, Tenma was partnered with Kousei and Chiaki, two capable capable genin like him. They were led by the Godaime Hokage, a Hyuuga himself of fearsome ability. The team bonded swiftly. However, troubles soon overtook the young Hyuuga as he was suddenly overtaken during a simple patrol mission. Kidnapped, he was then subjected to a coma, where he would be put into a long list of shinobi to be studied by a mysterious organization. When it was finally his turn to be studied, a sudden accident occured within the organization, a schism of sorts. The lab he was in blew up in the end. Crawling out of his pod with little to no strength, he edged towards a nearby forest, collapsing after several meters.
He woke up back in Konoha. Luckily, he had been seen by a fellow shinobi of the Leaf and had carried him back to the village. After spending quite a bit of time in the hospital reconditioning his body from the severe lack of activity and nutrition, he came to full health. However, a great deal of time had passed since then and he was anxious to make it up. It was also his great fortune that he had not been declared missing, so as not to shame the Main Branch.
