The kunoichi stretched her arms and yawned happily, curling her back and revealing an expanse of cleavage. She regained her normal posture and looked around happily. It was time to travel. Unfortunatley Katsumi was soon to learn one of her major downfalls. She had very little sense of direction. She started off in a direction she hoped was south east. The rainy and swampy region of Waterfall eventually gave way to a mountainous region that seemed vaguely correct to the kunoichi. Her soft brown eyes kept carefully watch for anyone attempting to foul up her journey. Ever watchful, that was Katsumi, though she was by no means paranoid. She just had a lot of people who wanted to jump her and harvest her eyeballs. She shivered at the very thought.

She continued on in a blissful state wondering what adventures lay before her, what she would discover, and what she would learn. It would indeed be a worthwhile journey. That was Katsumi, ever the optimist.

The girl continued to wander as she wondered how close she was to her destination. Her thoughts drifted in and out as she continued to walk. The mountains were fading now, growing smaller and smaller the more she walked. Her minds landed on her unknown past once more. A small sigh escaped her lips as the turned into a pretty pout. She still bore the few remnants of her past, the silver bracelet that was her namesake and the arm band bearing the symbol of the Uchiha. The bracelet she wore around her wrist and the arm band was tucked safely into her weapons pouch. She couldn't recall ever meeting a fellow Uchiha, then again she could recall very little of her past.

As the land flatened out she continued trying to force herself to grasp onto her lost memories. The thoughts were so close but she was unable to grasp at them, like a memory from a dream. She looked around the green pastures surrounding her and smiled. This place was nice, a mix between waterfall and wherever she just came from. According to her map she thought she was in the fire region now. How wrong she was.

Thus the travel continued. Still she searched through her mind for some memory she could draw to the surface. She had tried this many times over the years and it always left her with nothing but a headache but that never stopped the girl from trying. She longed for her memories too much to push them aside. The terrain was slowly changing. Less trees grew around her and the greenery was slowly fading away. A frown began to cross her face as she refused to admit she was lost. Maybe if she kept walking she would hit ocean, like she was supposed to. She closed her eyes and centered herself before continuing. If worse came to worse she could always ask for directions...

If she ever found anyone. The place surrounding her was quite actually a desert. It grew hotted with each step she took. She stopped to strip off her sweater, leaving her back and shoulders exposed to the world. She bent down and slowly began rolling up her pants until she tucked them in securely just above her knees. It did little to quell the heat though. Before her stood a palm tree. She quickly hurried to the tree and collapsed in the little shade it offered. She could rest until sundown then continue to save herself from the strong desert heat.

She rested under the palm tree while waiting for the serenity of night to fall upon her. She lay against the base of the trunk, her fingers twined together and her hands rested in her lap as she once more tried to grasp onto those distant memories. Something about her current location made her mind stir and sent pleasant shivers down her spine. It was as if she had been in this place before. Without realizing it the girl had fallen into the gentle confines of slumber.

Commence Flashback

The girl sat outside, staring at the sky and trying to count the endless stars. With a sigh she looked to the scroll besides her with a feeling of dread. She hated singing in public, not that this was exactly singing but it was similar. Her pale hands drifted over the battered scroll with graceful ease. She knew there was no sense in procrastinating. She took a cautious look around praying there was no one to hear her sing. She slowly unraveled the scroll and began reading, absorbing every bit of knowledge provided for her in the elegant kanji strokes upon the page.

She set the scroll aside and closed her auburn eyes. Her hands slowly moved through the pre-set hand seals required to call her mystical energy in the specific levels and vibrations needed for her to even attempt the technique. Her hands fumbled through the unfamiliar string of seals, causing her to loose anything resembling concentration. With a delicate frown she began again. She moved with slow grace and precision, allowing no room for mistakes. Her diligence was something to be proud of. The chakra gathered in her body waiting to be directed. She inhaled deeply and let the chakra rise to her throat.

The chakra was a steady vibration throughout her neck. She waited, allowing herself to become accustomed to the strange sensation. Chakra of this sort was nothing to be taken lightly; she could accidentally choke herself in a matter of seconds if she wasn’t careful. A good three minutes passed before she allowed herself to open her mouth. She was able to inhale and exhale as normal with only a few latent sparks of chakra to notify any difference. It looked as if she was exhaling sparkles. The thought made her giggle and it sounded ethereal thanks to the chakra.

She opened her mouth and voiced a note. The sound caught in her throat and she covered her mouth as the coughing began. It took a good minute for her coughing to subside. The girl blinked tears from her eyes and wiped away any stray tear drops. It seemed like when she tried to use the chakra intentionally she was running into trouble. That was of course a hurdle she needed to overcome. She slowly formed the hand seals once more, gathering chakra with every movement. The mystical energy rose and settled in her throat drawing a small cough from the kunoichi. The gentle hum of the chakra was not as strong as before, it was mellowed to a point where it would not irritate her.

Her eyes closed once more as she parted her pale lips and voiced a note. Chakra surrounded the sound and followed it through the air causing the noise to echo in her ears. As the sound was carried away on the winds she could still here the echoes bouncing back to her. The kunoichi smiled as she kicked her feet against the sand. That was indeed a curious sensation, one with many possibilities. Her family would be proud for a short time only to remind her she had other things to do, more techniques to train, and more strength to gain.

There was of course, as usual, nothing in the expanse of Kaze no Kuni but sand. The barren wasteland of sand and sun seldom produced anything that was any fun. It was a rare occurrence to find anything out of the ordinary, anything besides more sand that is. It was therefore, in fact, even more rare for two people to meet on such grounds. It was pure happenstance.

The endless walking had occurred immediately after he left the village and continued on for much of an hour. It was upon this time he saw the female on the horizon, several indiscernible meters directly in front of him laying underneath the shade of the palm tree. He was quick to deduce she was resting in the comforts of the shade. It was of course extremely hot out in the Deserts of Kaze no Kuni.

The heat wasn't doing much for him either. His pale features were moist with a sweat; the hair nearest his features dampened by it, and his usual formal suit attire only insulating such heat. It was almost unbearable. Sapphire optics looked about simultaneously with head turns as he searched for some other sort of shade in vain. His mind made up in that instant, he would go use the tree the female was using as shade.

It was at the moment of this decision's conception that his headband was properly confined to his suit pocket, and his demeanor slightly changed. The world wasn't a forgiving place, he didn't know anything about the girl. He would play the part of the traveling salesman, a simple facade. With this, his approach still continued.

It was a minute or two before he got to the tree, parking himself under it, his briefcase set down as such. His eyes closed a bit, one completely and the other (left) keeping an eye on the girl. His left hand pushed the suitcase into the girl's leg gently.

"You know, you shouldn't be sleeping like this. Not out here in the unforgiving desert, something could happen." He mouthed, hoping she had regained consciousness from her sleep after the nudge so his plea wouldn't go on deaf ears.

Brown optics shot open as something bumped her leg. A voice spoke and it took a long moment for her to realize what was happening. "I-It was hot..." she stammered as she drew her legs up underneath her and forced herself to her feet. She blinked rapidly as she looked around. Something stirred inside her. Sand... expanses of sand, the heat it was all so familiar. Something from her dream was rising to the surface, prodding her mind and trying to force forth a memory she could almost grasp. "This place... where am I?" she asked softly, her voice barely audible.

It sounded stupid, it sounded as if she had anemia, or whatever the medics had called it, all over again. However her memories were there, she knew she had been searching out a dojo and wandered to this place, clearly by some sort of wrong turn. Damn her bad sense of direction. Something about this place frightened the girl, it was strangely familiar. That itself was uncomforting but some nagging voice in her mind told her she didn't like this part of the desert.

Her fingers ran slowly through her fawn colored hair that was now damp from sweat. She quickly coiled her thick hair into a bun and tied it off as she looked over her clothing. She was covered in a fine layer of sand that caused her to feel very gritty. She turned her eyes to the male once more and awaited his answer. It was a one and a million shot but perhaps this strangley attired male could help unlock the secrets of her shadowed past...

A yawn resounded from his mouth as he listened to what she had to say, his eyes -- fully opened at this point, never leaving her visage. One had to be careful, even if the person in question was such a beautiful woman, he didn't know what she was capable of, and couldn't take such ignorance for granted. He was slightly taken back by what she had to say, asking where they were, though he found it logically obvious. His hands slipped into the confines of his pocket shades being slipped into proper position on his face.

"Well, you're in Kaze no Kuni. That is, The land of wind. Right here before you is all this place has to offer really, nothing much else here but a lot of sand. " His voice dropped, head arcing downward as his eyes peered up to her, "Why? Are you lost or something? It is pretty easy to get lost in this desert."

A hand was used as a post as he pushed himself to his feet. He dusted himself off as hot breeze charged through sand, particles being blown about.

The kunoichi stared in wide eyed amazement and quickly pulled out her world map, taking care to keep the stranger from seeing the images. "Oh... oh my..." she murmured as she rolled up the map and tucked it away. "I was heading to the Land of Waves... I came east instead of west!" Katsumi shook her head in disgrace as she mentally hounded herself over the idiocy of the whole situation. For being an intelligent person she lacked much in common sense it seemed.

"This may... sound strange but... do you recognize me by any chance?" What pleading words came from her angelic lips. Her brown eyes were filled with sadness as she forced herself to look anywhere but at the male before her. Her heart and mind raced as she thought of the possibilities. She knew finding a clue to her past was a wild goose chase but something in her heart told her she had been here before. She was now grasping at that loose thread and praying with all her heart.

She leaned against the tree trunk, her back arching against the rough wood. It was so hot here, she felt a little faint. She reached to her side to extract a water bottle only to find it was empty. That was bad, despite the fact that it was growing closer to dusk she would still be susceptible to dehydration, especially in this climate. Of all the luck. "Or," she added as the small memory entered her mind "Do you know of any sort of killings in around here? A sort of massacre?" The words left her mouth quickly as she made a face. The very words on her lips filled her mouth with the taste of blood. Such horrible words...

He held back a laugh at her first comment; finding it really funny she ended up in the entire opposite direction than intended. He hadn't made an assumption of her title just yet, but if she was ninja, she must have been one of the few that could mess up such a thing. It wasn't something normally attributed to a ninja.

"No, m'am, I don't really recognize you. . " He replied to her first question, whilst looking her over again; from her looks, he would have definitely remembered her. But, then again it was more than possible she frequented the area, and him not know, as he was confined to the village till coming of age, because of his Kyoudo heritage.

When the asking of the second question came around, he had already gotten wind of where she was going. Just who exactly was this female? He digressed deeper into thought. There were only two great massacres that occurred in the Ninja world. That of the Kyoudo and Uchiha respectively; which she definitely wasn't of the latter. That only left one possibility. . but how would he merit knowing it? He wasn't a Ninja right now, he was traveling salesman. . he'd feign ignorance.

"I don't really know of any Massacres or anything like that. However, if such did occur in this region I would expect you would get much more information about it in the capital. Shall I take you there?"

Her dreams dashed once more, but alas a glimmer of hope shone through. "Capital? I'd be very interested in such things. I do not know if it will help, then again I know very little... Oh my I'm being cryptic aren't I?" The girl looked around seemingly very flustered as she searched for the words that would explain her predicament without giving too much away. Such a foolish girl, such a horrible ninja, she really was a mess without her past.

"I'm what they call an... anemic? Something like that, it means I have no memories. I don't remember anything outside the last three years. The closest thing I have to a memory is waking up in the desert and seeing lots of blood..." her voice trailed off and a sadness flashed across her face. "You're ever so kind to offer to take me there, I wish there was someway I could repay you."

She pushed herself away from the tree trunk and vainly attempted to brush off her coat of sand though it did no good. She fell into pace next to the male as he led her through the scorching desert towards what could prove to be a miracle. "Soo..." Katsumi drug out the word in an attempt to make some sort of conversation as they walked. "Is this your home? Like... where you are from?" What else could one expect from her? The girl had no family and no past, therefore she was unduly curious about others history. The sun pounded on the back of her neck making it itch as loose bits of hair clung to her damp skin. Wistfully she wondered how anyone could live in this heat.

His most immediate reply was nod, that signaled the start of his gait toward the capital, taking a look at the map and judging the correct destination first. It was quite a ways from there current location to the capital, but at least they had the company of each other to take their minds off the blaring heat.

As she begun to spoke, her first word had already irked him a bit. 'What the hell is an anemic? She doesn't have enough blood? What does that have to do with not remembering stuff?' he thought. He wasn't quite sure what she meant by that, but when given the context, such deducted from her subsequent speakings, he realized she had used the wrong word for whatever reason. "You mean. . you're an amnesiac?" he mouthed. It seemed as if this girl was looking more and more like an uchiha by the minute. He didn't verbally comment further on that topic.

His right hand clenched around the suitcase he was dragging around with him, slightly irritated by the forwardness of her asking, he'd have to tread carefully with any subsequent questions she asked. "I'm a travelling salesman, however, coincidentally Kaze no Kuni is the land of my birth, yes. I would ask you a similar question, but it seems you would not be able to answer, not remembering anything outside of these last three years."

As he said the word amnesica her eyes narrowed slightly. "Yeah... that." They trusged forth through the desert as she prayed for a reprieve from the heat. "You're very lucky sir, I wish very much that I could remember my past, you're lucky to know it. I just realized I don't know you're name. Is there something I may call you?" She seemed to be determined on making some type of conversation. In truth she loathed silence. She would do almost anything to keep it away.

They continued to walk as the girl looked over their surroundings. "It is hard to believe there is actually a city here someplace..." she murmured more to herself than to her companion. Her eyes continued to search for something resembling a city until she caught sight of it on the horizon. A city rising from the sand, structures of sandstone buildings lifted into the air and forming what a lone traveller could easily mistake for a mirage.

A hand rose to his cheek as his head arced a bit in thought. He had to think about it a bit, should he give her his real name? What harm would it do anyway? It was likely they'd never meet again. It mattered not, he rationalized.

"I am Izanagi -- Kyou---" his voice trailed off, well maybe he shouldn't give away his full name. "Kyou, Izanagi." He smiled a bit as he looked around. There was something different in the city this time; something out of place. A giant sand castle-like structure seemed to rise out of the skyline, which he knew wasn't there before. His head tilted a bit inquisitively.

"That must be where the Shichidaime Kazekage is. . " He whispered to himself. His hand rose to point off in the distance, toward the direction of the Sand Castle. "That is where we are going. . Most likely there is a person there that knows the truth about your heritage and history. Hurry up. . Wait. . what is your name?" He began to run off in the direction of the Castle of sand.

[Exit.]

"You lead I'll follow," the girl said calmly as she continued to keep pace with the male. "Katsumi Minasato," she offered quickly before breaking into a jog to keep up with the male.
