Raiden flapped down in the main square of Mashimizu, causing a little commotion. Raiden ignored them as he retracted his wings and looked at Morosuke’s outline. It said the first place he had visited was the square. That was helpful, there was like a hundred people in it! Raiden shook his head and made the dragon hand sign, activating his Ryuugan. With his enhanced sight, Raiden began searching the ground for the locket. He was careful to avoid bumping into people as he searched, his eyes scanning for the wooden locket. The Kazeraikou looked from one end of the square to the other, but he found nothing.
“Looking for something kid?” a man asked him as the young ninja straightened up and looked the man in the eye.
“Yeah, it’s a small wooden locket,” Raiden said, deciding to embellish the truth a little, “It has a really intricate carving on it. It means a lot to my grandfather, and he asked me to find it. Have you seen it?”
“I’m sorry, but I haven’t seen nothing like that,” the man said, scratching his head. Raiden felt slightly disappointed, but he still had some more places to look.
“It’s okay; it’s got to be somewhere right?” Raiden said, thanking the man as he ran off to the next place on the list, which was the market, which turned out to be full of people, so the chances of finding it were fairly remote. With his Ryuugan still activated, he began searching again. His enhanced senses found nothing, no matter how many times he looked along the ground. He looked up and realised something. He was in a market, so maybe someone picked it up and sold it. If they hadn’t it would be in one of the other places that Morosuke had visited. But Raiden made the decision to stay in the market a little longer. He went to every stall that sold jewellery and inquired about the wooden locket. He travelled from one end of the market to the other on one side, asking if anyone had picked it up and given it to them. All of them said no. Raiden wasn’t despairing yet, but it was starting to get a little annoying. He crossed over and saw two men dealing. He walked over and heard their conversation.
“Look, I found it on the ground, okay?” a nasty looking man said to a stall owner “I want to sell it and get some money from it, and you’re going to buy it off me for a decent price.”
“It’s made of wood,” the stall owner said “no matter how beautiful it is, it’s just not worth that much.” Raiden had found the locket. He approached the two men, interrupting the conversation.
“Excuse me,” Raiden said in a cheerful voice “but that locket doesn’t belong to you. It belongs to a nice old man and it means a lot to him.”
“So?” the man said, turning on Raiden. He was a few inches taller than Raiden, but that didn’t matter. Raiden looked up at him and smiled. “It obviously didn’t mean that much if he dropped it. Fair and square, it’s mine now.”
“Do you see this?” Raiden asked, pointing to his headband. “I am a ninja of Kirigakure, and I’ve been ordered to get this locket back. You can hand it over to me now and go on your way. Or...” Raiden left it hanging.
“You don’t scare me, Ninja,” the man sneered, flexing his muscles. Raiden shook his head and aimed his Zankuuha in his right hand at the man, gathering his sound chakra to be released through it. The air in front of his palm began to shimmer. The man lashed out with a punch aimed at Raiden’s face. Raiden moved his head out of the way and released a blast of sound at the man’s stomach. The man went flying, landing hard on his back. Raiden cracked his neck and walked over to the man, taking the locket out of his hands.
“That’s what you get when you mess with a ninja,” Raiden said, slipping the locket into his pouch and deactivating his Ryuugan. He closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead.
“Damn headaches,” Raiden said to himself as he made the ram hand sign and his wings burst out of his back, stretching. Raiden jumped into the air and flapped his wings, rising into the sky. He saluted the people below, who were watching him in amazement. Raiden smiled and flapped toward Kirigakure, the locket safe in his pouch.
