Wake Up Angel
A bird chirruped outside, how peaceful, wouldn‘t you sa--AWRUAWW! What the hell? AWRUAWW! My eyes would open a bit, peeking around the sleep crusted on the lids, hoping that whatever it was would just go aw-AWRUAWW!! My shoe sailed out the window, connecting with the seagull that had been flying so closely, and it fell into the water gracelessly with a tremendous splash. NAILED IT! Rolling over, I would try and drift back into dream land, thanks to the peace and calm of the oc-BAM! Are you serious?!?
I shot out of bed glaring, my hair wild and all over the place, and my eyes fell on my entire camera crew just outside the door. Oh, this had better be good. They are messing with my perfectly calculated beauty sleep. Numbers and equations began to float around my head, the crew cocking their heads sideways, watching the mathematical genius that I was performing; along with the complete lack of care for what was possible. Waving away the number, my director stood next to the bedside, placing a hand on my shoulder.
Director: “Land fall, Z. Time to get to work!”
With that, they all began to leave, just like that! After waking me up completely, they just turn and leave, as if their news was something bigger than what it was! Son of a! I stood up, pointing my right hand index finger, shouting at the top of my lungs!
Zelos: “Hey! Just who do you think you--uh…?”
They all turned as the blanket fell from my waist, revealing the most private of privates, and a collective chill washed through them all. My cheeks became hot and rosy as I looked down, knowing now that I as indeed naked to the world, and my eyes bulged. Scrambling for the blanket, wrapping it around my waist, I slammed the door and stood barefoot for a moment. Seriously? What else could go wrong today? What kind a hero has this kind of luck? Growling to myself as I put my clothes on, I stepped out into the below deck hallway, walking to the ladder and heading up on to the deck.
The cameras were constantly rolling, making sure to follow my every move, and I walked to the bow of the ship to look out at the land. From the heavens the sun would hit me just right, the white of my pants bright, a smile on my face; my smile even made the little twinkle. One foot up on the railing, hand shading my face, I gazed out like a true adventurer! Someone shouted something about the bank, but I paid them no mind, because right now was my time to shine! This would be an excellent shot! The wind blew my hair to one side, but kept it out of my face, and I knew that today was a good da--COME ON!
Suddenly the ship ran aground and I was flung from the railing, landing in the ocean some feet from the beach, in a bed of seaweed. Picking myself up from the ordeal, I spit water and several small fish out of my mouth, shaking the seaweed out of my hair and brushing it off my clothes. What a horrible day today was. Hopefully it would get better or I might end up dead by my own bad luck! Turning to see the camera crew coming down, chuckling to themselves, did nothing but anger me further. Whatever. There are always a few bumps on the road to greatness. These bumps just hurt more than the others. Where are we right now anyway? I would reach my hand up, gripping the title of the board we were in, reading it twice just to make sure; then I put it back.
Zelos: “Looks like we‘re in Oto no Kuni, guys. According to what I just read its…A small, flat country that has a number of hills and mountains that have been terraced into rice farms. The sun shines almost perpetually here, filtering among the sparsely settled villages.”
Everyone would nod in agreement, taking to the shore, and I would cause the water to fall off of me and dry my clothing. It was time to get down to business.
