The couple loved him very much, and with wealth from Sakura's father they were able to bring him up very comfortably. Being of such value to the parents, he was also of great value to the enemies of Sakura's family.
He was kidnapped at the yound age of two, and taken to the coast of the snow country. The kidnappers ransom was later rejected, to this day Ribbon doesn't know why. With the ransom rejected, the boy's life became forfit. Still desiring to make money, the kidnappers sold Ribbon on the black market. He was purchased by a man called Black Koi. But the kidnappers never gave the boy a first name when he was sold, only reffering to him as the Caldera boy. Thus Black Koi named him Ribbon, after the red ribbon tied around his neck when he was received.
Ripe Young Years
Ribbon was only turning two when in two weeks time his world was changed, from his mothers warm embrace to a hard road of training to be a mercinary. He was purchased by Black Koi, a leader of mercinaries in the stone country. Black Koi was born inable to bear children. Inorder to sate his fatherly impulses, he would purchase children and raise them to become mercinaries to work for him. Ribbon was his twenty second son, and as he grew he was raised to get the job done. By the time he was four he had learned if he doesn't get the job done he gets beaten, and this mentality would stick with him for the whole of his life. In what free time he would have he would play in the near by brook with the animals that lived there. Black Koi was a very strict figure, and tolerated very little insobordination. He was also a moderatly successful mercinary leader, and was targeted by another mercinary. A bloody fight ensued between the two and ultimatley lead up to Ribbons first memory.
The Party
Ribbon sat on his bunk in a cold drafty room in the western wing of the complex. Scribbling away on a sheet of paper, trying to draw the best picture of the frog he had seen earlier. The room was illuminated by a paper lanturn hanging outside his door. Ribbon's door was open, to let in the most light and the most sound from the animals. He had just about gotten the eye to be a circle when the animals fell into unison silence. Ribbon looked up, wondering if the animals have ever done this before. Without an answer he continued to draw, as he desperatly wanted to draw his frog friend. A large sudden thud caused Ribbon to jerk, he stood up and walked out to the long deck outlooking the western wing. He peered out both directions, looking to see if anything else surprising was outside. When there was nothing odd to be seen he walked back inside to continue drawing. Before he could get to his paper though, a loud yelp echoed out. Ribbon recognized that noise! It was someone cheering, and that usually ment there was fun over there. Ribbon dashed off, to go join in the fun.
But he didn't find anyone, only dead bodies. Ribbon had seen those before, Father Koi often sold them to people for food money. But they were laying all over the place. People must be having fun! Ribbon proceeded to head straight to Black Koi's room, right in the heart of the complex. The air smelled really funny on the way there, and there were alot of dead bodies. Ribbon figured there would be a feast soon with all the food money they would get from all these dead bodies.
Ribbon knocked on the door, but nobody answered. But he heard people inside, so he thought he should go in. As he opened the door a kunai flew out, Ribbon could feel the blade pass right over him. Suddenly people were all around him. They seemed nice, so Ribbon had to ask, "Are you guys here for the party?"
A new home
The enemy of Black Koi had hired ninja from the Sound village to assassinate him. Being ordinary mercinaries they really stood no chance, not breaking a B-Rank mission. They were ordered to kill everyone in the facillity, so no traces would be left behind. But, one of the Chunnin, felt his death would be pointless, and convinced with ease the others to feel the same way. His question showed he was too young to truly understand what had happened, and she figured he probably wouldn't remember what happened. His new mother, Bais Elet, would raise him to from that point forward. Ribbon would continue into the academy at a very early age, and graduate in the same fashion. He was born untimatly to follow in his father's footsteps, and be a ninja.
