Couldn't find anything on this, because the site search engine always times out on me, so if this has been answered before, I did try to find it.

The Directive Seal

The part I'm confused about -

Skill: Universal Ninjutsu
Effect: Creates the directives within the back of the bearers mind. Giving them the guidelines for obedience.
Special: Handseals, and then hold your hand to the recipients forehand.
Drawback: These are very finicky. The wording needs to be just so, or else loopholes will be present. Directives may only be one sentence long at most, and one bearer may have a maximum of 4 directives. The recipient must be willing to accept the first set of directives, afterwards their directive may be edited and changed with the various techniques without consent as long as the limitations on the deletion technique and creation technique are followed. There are ways to remove the directives, with certain mental techniques, but the bearer has an ingrained directive not to remove them, Meaning someone else would have to perform the technique.

I asked about it, and I was told that making a person "accept" the directive by threatening them with death or harm wouldn't be allowed, yet Genjutsu would.

If Deception (I.E. Genjutsu) is a viable course of action to get the victim to willingly accept, why isn't Coercion (I.E. Threats)? The victim still has a choice to accept the directive or not while under threat, just as much as they do while being deceived. The Choice, the ability to decide whether or not to accept the directive, is still there. I'm not asking for a debate, I just want a concrete ruling and an explanation please.

It means that they must willingly accept the directive you give them. Like if you make a directive 'Breath' would they really have a reason to say no? Or if you tell them to go and accomplish their lifelong dream. You just need to get them to willingly accept the directive.

Generally it means that they have to be okay with the directive you give them. Like you give them the directive to 'Not hurt others' they can either say "Of course, that's acceptable" or "Never, I'll fucking kill everyone I fucking want". If they say no to the directive at first or are against it it won't work, if they're okay with it then it works. After that you can change the seal to things like - 'Don't hurt others, it's only hurting yourself' - 'Every time you hurt others, you only hurt yourself' - 'Every time you hurt others, hurt yourself' - so generally you can get people to do what they don't want to do gradually, just not straight away.

Alright, that pretty much answers the spirit of my question. I should try and place the initial directive as something that I wouldn't need to try Coercion or Deception for them to accept it in the first place, then change directives as needed afterward.

Now, just to be sure, I was hoping to know something else in the first place, I'll give examples to clarify my question.

The User of the Directive Seal has their Victim restrained, and has managed to place the seal. The User is about to apply the first Directive on the Victim, and is speaking with the Victim. The User tells them they must accept the first Directive, or the User will kill them. Faced with death, the Victim accepts and the User successfully places the Directive.


Another example. The victim this time is a poor person who is offered a lot of money. The User explains to them they must accept the Directive or they will not be given the money. The Victim agrees for obvious reasons, and the Directive is successfully placed.


Third example. The Victim is restrained in an interrogation room. Heavy amounts of Genjutsu has been used on them to make the User seem as the Victim's ally. The User asks to place a Directive, and the Victim, under the illusion the User is their trusted ally, accepts and the Directive is placed successfully.

All three examples are different situations altogether. Example 1 is use of a threat. Example 2 is use of an beneficial offer. Example 3 is use of deception.

My question is, would all three of these situations be acceptable in placing the first Directive? If one or more of them aren't please explain to me why.
